Birthday Gifts From Sephora 🎈
Since I am a Beauty Insider member & my birthday is in a week, Sephora sent me this awesome package! •MOROCCANOIL - Moroccanoil Treatment •MOROCCANOIL - Night Body Serum •MOROCCANOIL - Hydrating Styling Cream •FIRST AID BEAUTY - Pure Skin Face Cleanser •FIRST AID BEAUTY - Ultra Repair Cream I have actually used all of these products before except the Moroccan Oil Body Serum! I am excited to give it a try because I have loved all of the other products from Moroccan Oil! Their treatment serum & styling cream are amazing! You only need a little bit of each & they make your hair look & smell amazing! I already use 100% Argan Oil in my hair daily so adding this into the picture is going to make my hair even better! I’m actually going to be dying my hair (either ombré or balayage) next weekend so I can use all the hydration possible!!! First Aid Beauty is also one of my favorite brands. I use their cleanser daily already so this one is going to get used up when I’m done with the tube I already have! The repair cream I don’t use in my face because I think it’s a bit too thick but I do use it everywhere else! I use it on my hands, arms, legs & feet! It really is an “everything” cream! I even use it on my 1 year old son! His cheeks have been getting pretty dry lately because it’s been so cold where we live & this is the only cream that I have found that helps him instantly! & we have tried every single “baby” cream before trying this! & none have held up to the ultra repair cream. What’s great about the FAB Cream is it is completely safe for babies, & their whole “ultra” line is also safe for sensitive skin. Lately I have been using the FAB ultra lip repair lip balm & I absolutely love it! Have you guys tried any of these products before?? If so, what’d you think? 💖 @cherie@CheriePick@Cheriebeauty

Dry Winter Skin (& tips when using retinol)
It is important to take good care of your skin in the winter. The cold air is harsh on the skin and can cause dehydration, dryness, and irritation. For those who use retinol (such as prescription tretinoin), these issues are always a concern and in the winter it is extra important to be mindful of how your skin is reacting. When you use a strong retinol your skin is automatically considered dry and sensitive due to the nature of the active ingredient. Whether you are using retinol or just struggling with dry winter skin, here are some tips to help you manage: ❄️Use a Gentle Cleanser❄️ Stay away from stripping cleansers as your skin’s moisture barrier is already compromised in the cold weather. Also, when removing makeup/double cleansing, stay away from makeup wipes because they are harsh on the skin and instead use a micellar water or cleansing balm. FIRST AID BEAUTY - Pure Skin Face Cleanser is my recommendation for a gentle cleanser. It works for all skin types. GLOW RECIPE - Papaya Sorbet Smoothing Enzyme Cleansing Balm is a fantastic makeup removing balm that hydrates the skin and is a perfect first step in a double cleansing routine. ❄️Add Hydrating Ingredients❄️ Try using products that contain humectants or other hydrating ingredients such as glycerin or hyaluronic acid. This will help your skin avoid irritation from the cold. You can incorporate this through any step of your routine, but I recommend hydrating serums and masks. GLOW RECIPE - Watermelon Glow Pink Juice Moisturizer can be used as a light moisturizer for those with oily skin, but I recommend using it as a hydrating serum under a thicker moisturizer. When my skin is feeling especially sensitive I mix it with my retinol to dilute the retinol and make it more tolerable for my skin. GLOW RECIPE - Watermelon + AHA Glow Sleeping Mask is a hydrating masking option if that is what you prefer. ❄️Switch to a Different Moisturizer❄️ Make sure you have a thicker moisturizer when the weather changes to help protect your skin. The Ordinary - Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA and ETUDE - Soon Jung, 2x Barrier Intensive Cream are good moisturizer options for the winter. ❄️Consider Occlusives❄️ Some people like to add an occlusive layer over their moisturizer to further protect from the winter air and to lock in the hydrating ingredients underneath. You could use something as simple as Vaseline - 100% Pure Petroleum Jelly, Original or even an oil such as The Ordinary - 100% Plant-Derived Squalane to add an occlusive layer. ❄️Don’t Forget Lip Care❄️ Use a balm such as BURT’S BEES - Nourishing Mango Butter Lip Balm Tube to fight chapped lips! If you have any recommendations for dry winter skin please let me know in the comments!

New Year... New skin purge?!
So! I’ve been learning a lot the past two weeks on how diet can directly or indirectly impact your skin. There aren’t really many products here to chat about in this post today, because guess what? It’s mostly about food and how eating certain types of food regularly could change your skin, whether it’s positively or negatively. For me, it’s bad! For now. I personally believe food can impact one’s take on their personal beauty. Feeling good starts from the inside, and part of that can be what’s on the inside physically. I was feeling so bloated the past few months, both due to stress eating and mindless eating, and realized I was barely getting any fruits or veggies in my diet on a daily and sometimes almost weekly basis. Am I telling you here that you need to become vegan or vegetarian? Nope, (I personally still eat meat and have a bit of dairy here and there and that’s working well for me, yay!), but I think eating at least a few fruits or veggies a day can really help boost anyone’s energy. Alkaline foods, or low glycemic foods, have so many nutrients and essential vitamins that boost your immune system, circulatory system, and help ultimately fuel your energy. For more than 14 days, I have been juicing in the morning, while still having solid meals and protein (grilled veggies, rice and salmon for example). I have noticed a wonderful surge in consistent energy throughout the day starting from the AM- I feel mentally sharp, physically strong, and don’t feel moody or have mood swings as much or at all throughout the day. My skin right now? As you can see, breaking out, and my skin feels so itchy, irritated and my t-zone looks petty clogged up with sebum. I have sebum production OVERLOAD on my face lol. What has been helping is keeping my routine really simple- I’ve been using FIRST AID BEAUTY - Pure Skin Face Cleanser and THE inkey LIST - Oat Cleansing Balm to cleanse, and it’s really helping with the irritation right now while getting rid of impurities in flushing out through my skin. No makeup except mascara! Also, to moisturize I’m using FIRST AID BEAUTY - Ultra Repair Cream Intense Hydration to ensure my moisture barrier isn’t being compromised, and really calm the dryness and irritation (with me leaning towards being more of a dry skin type). But I mainly wanted to share these photos and my thoughts because I think that diet isn’t talked about as much, and think a discussion about it could be really cool to help us all learn from each other. While I don’t feel diet has the biggest impact the way regularly wearing sunscreen and using treatment products daily does, I do feel it’s important to talk about with folks who might be wanting to take on bigger resolutions this year. Just like adding a new skincare product into your routine, adding new things regularly into your diet could give you a purge period. What are your thoughts?! Let me know!

I like to do my makeup just to wash it off🤡➡️😊
If you’re a heavy make up user you have to double cleanse. My favorite to double cleanse with is SKYORGANICS - Organic Jojoba Oil You can pretty much use any oil that is non comedogenic, vitamin E oil, castor oil, rose hip oil. Try to stay away from coconut oil studies have shown that it’s likely to cause acne. I lather this onto my dry face & neck and just massage, I let it sit for 1-2 minutes. Letting it sit for a few minutes will really lift the mascara or eyeliner by the eyes or your lipstick and will be so simple to just wipe away! I than will go in with FIRST AID BEAUTY - Pure Skin Face Cleanser gentle and sufficient, I’ve not changed this cleanser out of my routine for about a year now and I love it. It lifts up the oil and the makeup leaving my face still nice and soft. I sometimes do one more cleanse because I’m alway scared of un wanted makeup stuck by my hair, even though these two steps will be more than enough. I will follow up with a basic gentle cleanser whether that’s my VANICREAM - Gentle Facial Cleanser or LA ROCHE-POSAY - Toleriane Hydrating Gentle Face Cleanser or Aveeno - Calm + Restore Nourishing Oat Facial Cleanser All of these cleanser are great option for safe ways to make sure all your make up is off. I hope you guys enjoyed this post!❤️

Best Facial Cleansers
Finding a cleanser suitable to your skin type/needs can be a challenge. I have been through my fair share of cleansers trying to find one that I can’t live without. Let me share my findings with you! ⭐️Here are the best cleansers I have tried:⭐️ FIRST AID BEAUTY - Pure Skin Face Cleanser ✨all skin types (especially sensitive/dry)✨ This is my current cleanser and I absolutely love it. If you are struggling with sensitive skin or using a strong retinol like I am, this is perfect. It effectively cleanses without stripping the skin, but I will say it isn’t great for makeup removal. GHOST DEMOCRACY - Transparent Gentle Exfoliating Daily Cleanser ✨oily, combination, and normal skin types✨ This is a good exfoliating cleanser but I wouldn’t use it every day. I noticed it tends to sensitize my skin if I use it too often, so now I use it every other day or so. This is an amazing cleanser once you find the frequency of use that works for you. If you have acne concerns this would be a great way to introduce gentle exfoliation. CeraVe - Foaming Facial Cleanser For Normal To Oily Skin ✨oily and combination skin types✨ I found that this cleanser didn’t work very well for me because I needed something a bit less drying. If you have oily skin I can see this working very well for you though. The texture is really nice and my face felt clean. Sweet CHEF - Oat Milk Latte Cleanser ✨all skin types (especially combination)✨ This cleanser is gentle and is especially good for those who wear makeup. I’ve never used a cleanser that removes makeup as well as this one. If you have tried any of these cleansers or have any recommendations please let me know in the comments!

New and Improved Winter Routine
After a lot of trial and error, I think I’ve found a routine that works for me (at least for the time being). I am aware of the PURITO - Centella Green Level Unscented Sun SPF50+controversy BUT I work from home and often don’t run errands until the evening when the sun has already set so I don’t mind continuing to use the product as a moisturizer and for light protection from the minimal rays that come in through my windows. When I do go out during the day, I layer with a second sunscreen. I really love the Krave - Matcha Hemp Hydrating Cleanser but have been feeling slightly stripped lately after using it and since I was already running out of the Krave, I figured I’d try something new. I purchased the FIRST AID BEAUTY - Pure Skin Face Cleanser on somewhat of a whim at Sephora the other day. I have noticed that the creamier texture of the FAB cleanser works very well for my skin (at least during the winter months when I get incredibly dry) but kind of feel like the pearlescent look of it is a little gimmicky. I will likely alternate between the 2 cleansers depending on the time of year and how my skin is feeling. I alternate actives every night. My skin is extremely reactive and prone to irritation so I have to take things very slowly when introducing a new active to my routine. For now, I use the CeraVe - Resurfacing Retinol Serum on night 1, the By Wishtrend - Mandelic Acid 5% Skin Prep Water on night 2, the DIFFERIN - 0.1% Adapalene Acne Treatment Gel Pump on night 3 and no active on night 4 before restarting the routine. I find that the night off really gives my skin a break. I’ve been using Differin for a while but have been a little disappointed in it lately so thought that it might be time to introduce a different retinol product and LOVE the CeraVe - Resurfacing Retinol Serum so far. I started with once a week and did notice a little irritation the first few times I used it but that was expected. I think every 4th night is a good place that I can build on if I continue to see better results. I want to incorporate The Inkey List’s Q-10 serum because I have used it in the past and really liked it. I’m not sure where I could include it for the best results and least irritation. I really want to keep at least one night a week where I only use FIRST AID BEAUTY - Ultra Repair Wild Oat Hydrating Toner and Aveeno - Calm + Restore Oat Gel Moisturizer after cleansing but am hesitant to layer products. Any suggestions? THIS MOISTURIZER!!! I was skeptical when I first saw this new line from Aveeno because I sometimes find that their products don’t perform as well as I expect. Their lotions often feel like they just sit on top of my skin instead of soaking in but Dr. Dray convinced me and I will be sticking with this one!
