Oil Cleansing Helps Oil Plugs??
Oil Cleansing Helps Oil Plugs??
I saw this idea on YouTube from The Golden Rx (but I’ve also seen quite a few people on TikTok mention this video there). She’s an Esthetician and Skincare YouTuber! I really enjoy her videos. She has a video called “Esthetician Approved: Oil Cleansing Guide for All Skin Types | Acne, Oily, Dry Combo” that goes into detail about oil cleansing and products based on your skin type. In it, she recommends how to get the rid of the things that looks like blackheads by using an oil! . Info from her video: After 3-5 minutes of messaging your facial oil after your first step cleanser, sometimes 10-15 minutes, you start to feel gritty oil plugs come out. They’re actually solid blocks of sebum that are stuck in your pores. Black/brown color is more likely sebaceous filaments. When your pores are blocked and they pop out, they resemble blackheads so it’s good to get them out! Purging can happen with oil cleansing, but not a lot. . Directions/Steps from her video: Use a balm or oil to remove makeup/SPF, etc. for 60 seconds. Next, go in with an oil and use solid, gentle pressure all over the face. This could be a relaxing form of self-care after a long day and to take time for yourself and give your face a message and release the tension that has built up throughout the day! Work from the inside from the outside to the face. Oil plugs don’t always come out, it’s a maybe thing! Use a warm cleansing cloth to remove. . Products needed: A balm or oil to remove makeup (she has recommendations in her video based on your skin type) and an oil for a second cleanse (she used the DHC Deep Cleansing Oil). . How often: She recommends once a week or so because skincare should be fun and not something that’s a long process everyday. Also, it’s fun to see what comes out after awhile! . My experience: I used the CLINIQUE - Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm as my first step and the ACURE - Seriously Soothing Blue Tansy Night Oil as my oil of choice to rub in for 20 minutes. This was my first time trying it and didn’t have any noticeable plugs come out that I felt, but my cheeks didn’t have as many dark spots on them! I took picture, but they weren’t good quality and you couldn’t really see them well. My skin also feels more smooth and even! My hands did cramp some after 5 minutes, but I pushed through it and it was relaxing! I do think I will continue doing this once a week and see if it further helps my skin! I might try a different oil than and see if that works any better.

Organic Skincare on a Budget! 🦄
Organic Skincare on a Budget! 🦄
These have to be two of my favorite products from the Acure line besides their hair products! ACURE - Brightening Day Cream The Brightening Face Cream is the perfect moisturizer for everyday use. It provides the right amount of hydration without being too heavy in the skin and doesn’t require a lot of product to work. The only downside with this product is the amount of citrus EO 🍊 that is in its formula - this can be sensitizing or irritating to already sensitive skin. Besides that, 5 stars! You can purchase this online on the Acure or ULTA websites, but I often find this exact product at Marshall’s or TJ Maxx at a discounted price! 🤑 ACURE - Seriously Soothing Blue Tansy Night Oil This Blue Tansy Night Oil is amazing! I would say it’s a less expensive version of the Herbivore Lapis Facial Oil. I love the Herbivore oil so I was excited to try the the Acure version and they did not disappoint. If you are experiencing inflamed, acne-prone, and/or sensitive skin, this is definitely for you. My skin always looked and felt so smooth after using this and it quickly became one of my favorites. Again, only downside is the perfumey scent that it carries. Fragrances can be too sensitizing and it would be even better if the used maybe 1 EO in its formula, at a very small concentration, for scent - OR NONE AT ALL LOL! Other than that, highly recommend 💫 Acure has always been one of my favorite brands ever since I made the switch to clean beauty. They are relatively inexpensive and effective! There are a lot of drug-store clean beauty brands that claim to do wondrous work but often times fall short of a lot of things. Acure, I find, has always had some great products to offer at a great price! 🌼

Acure seriously soothing night oil
Acure seriously soothing night oil
They weren’t lying, this is seriously soothing! This balances my skin and moisturizes without feeling heavy or greasy. It’s full of antioxidant rich oils and nourishing ingredients. I love a good facial oil, and I’ve tried many over the years and this one stands out to me not only because it’s a much more affordable option to other high-end similar products, but also because it’s effective. I use it as the last step in my PM routine after moisturizing to kind of seal everything in. It has a thin consistency but it does take a couple of minutes to sink in. It has a nice, almost sweet scent but that fades away after application. Overall an amazing product under $20 that I will continue to repurchase! ACURE - Seriously Soothing Blue Tansy Night Oil

Short review on oils in my cur
Short review on oils in my current routine. ⠀ ✅ Jordansamuelskin etoile + retinol oil. One of my all time fave oils. It smells very nice. It is well absorbed (I use it in a mixture with serum), it does not make my skin oily, it nourishes and plumps. And brightens. And I believe it has all of advantages of retinol products☺️ In the composition there are almond, argan, marula, cranberry, primrose, wild rose oils, sea buckthorn plus 0.4% of retinol. ⠀ ✅ Espaskincare optimal pro serum. Love it. It is oily serum, it absorbs really quickly and it is the only oil I can use over my serum and cream without heaviness. Has light citrus smell. Inci list is long enough but main ingredients are rice, primrose, enchium oils mixed with turmeric, clove extracts, black currant seed oil and citrus essential oils. It has good brightening effect on my skin, nourishes and replenishes. ⠀ ✅ Acurebeauty seriously soothing blue tansy night oil. Budget alternative to HB Lapis oil. Has calming/soothing effect. Blue tansy, castor, argan, kukui and yarrow oil in base of caprylic/capric triglycerids made it absorb really well. I use it only mixed with hydrating or calming mask. ⠀ Love all three of these oils. They all help to strengthen skin barrier, hydrate and enhance elasticity.

Tonight’s routine 😴
Tonight’s routine 😴
Hello everyone! I recently decided to upgrade my skincare routine from very basic (just cleansing and moisturizer most days) to something more intentional. My skin fluctuates between dry and combination (definitely very dry in the winter), I struggle with large pores, blackheads, acne prone (although my acne has improved greatly over the past few years, yay!) Here’s tonight’s routine, some staples and a couple newbies: CeraVe - Hydrating Facial Cleanser I have been using this cleanser for years with no complaints Kate Somerville - ExfoliKate Intensive Exfoliating TreatmentI received this sample in my IPSY bag and used it tonight in the shower, seems nice so far! I use TO lactic acid most nights but try to do a more intense exfoliator 1-2x per week THAYERS - Alcohol-Free Rose Petal Witch Hazel Facial Mist Toner-Rose Petal Another longtime staple The Ordinary - Alpha Arbutin 2% + HA I use this most nights and mornings for 1. To help with dark spots and scarring and 2. For the added HA which is a nice moisture boost ACURE - Ultra Hydrating Eye Cream This eye cream is newish to me but I am liking it so far Kiehl's - Ultra Facial Moisturizer SPF 30 My go to moisturizer for nights, sometimes daytime too if my skin is feeling dry ACURE - Seriously Soothing Blue Tansy Night OilTrying this out tonight for some soothing after exfoliation
