Dermatologist opinion: facial oil dupe
Dermatologist opinion: facial oil dupe
Marula oil is extracted from the marula tree nut found in Africa. Benefits of marula oil: ✔️Rich in antioxidants- which help fight off free radicals from pollution and UV exposure. ✔️Anti-aging – the antioxidants also help with its anti-aging properties to help keep the skin looking youthful. ✔️Rich in fatty acids- (oleic and linoleic fatty acids) that soften and moisturize the skin. ✔️Lightweight - What’s great about marula oil is that it hydrates the skin and absorbs well without being too heavy or greasy. ✔️Immediate glow- I definitely notice my skin is radiating after I wear this oil. I love to use this instead of a moisturizer as a last step in my nighttime skincare routine, especially during the winter months! DRUNK ELEPHANT - Virgin Marula Luxury Facial Oil Drunk elephant - $72. yes the packaging is beautiful, but that price point is way too high. It only has one ingredient: marula oil. Why is it so expensive? It is likely due to the processing. It is cold pressed with a patented process of unheated extraction. It is unclear if this process is necessary to maintain all of the benefits of marula oil. The Ordinary - 100% Cold Pressed Virgin Marula Oil Ordinary- $8. Also 100% cold pressed marula oil. The processing may be slightly different. The application is a little less light weight, and for this reason slower to absorb, but still blends easily into the skin and gives an immediate glow. Final thoughts: after trying both, I would choose the ordinary product because they are both so similar! What would you choose?

💙Marula Oil💙 A Quick Review💙
The Ordinary - 100% Cold Pressed Virgin Marula Oil is amazingly lightweight and is quickly becoming my favorite skin oil. It has a light scent and I’m glad because a lot of fragrance is something I avoid in about 90% of the products I buy. It is a part of a brand I trust wholeheartedly and is worth every penny! If you are looking for an amazing skin oil that is affordable and works wonders to hold in moisture to your skin, this is the product for you!

Many people are wary of oils.
Many people are wary of oils. I used to be too, I thought the same as everyone else with oily skin- this being: ‘I have oily skin, I don’t need ~more~ oil’. • But the wonderful thing about oils are that they don’t have to be comedogenic and they make a great occlusive or emollient. Some oils can even help with comedones such as the Luna shown above. • My quick overview on each product is below: • Luna sleeping night oil is a product I wouldn’t like to live without. It’s truly a game changer when it comes to calming acne and keeping my skin fresh. It’s possibly my favourite product from sundayriley (9/10) • The ceo glow from sundayriley has a beautiful fine texture and has the added benefits of turmeric and Vitamin C (THD Ascorbate) for brightening, no complaints here. (8/10) • The drunkelephant marula oil is a nice to have in my routine but I don’t think it’s a necessary. It’s hydrating and absorbs well but I don’t believe it’s a desert island must have product (7/10) • The same goes for The Ordinary marula oil. It’s thicker than the drunkelephant but they more or less work the same. I like to use this one on my hair as it can be too heavy for face- unless we’re talking facial massage which it would be good for. (6/10) •  I really do like the koconoi hydrating face oil. It smells delicious and has such a fine texture. It’s made up of coconut oil, sunflower oil, moringa and vitamin E. I don’t find it to be pore clogging but I wouldn’t put it over acne. (7/10) • Overall I think oils are nice but I can take or leave them if they don’t have active ingredients that will give me amazing results.

How to use Ascorbic Acid POWDER + my AM routine
How to use Ascorbic Acid POWDER + my AM routine
Vitamin C will forever be part of my morning routine, because the 'before and afters' don't lie!! I experimented with a number of AM routines and different vit C serums from The Ordinary before landing on their The Ordinary - 100% L-Ascorbic Acid Powder Ascorbic Acid is pure vitamin C in its most potent, and also the most unstable form. It is incredibly difficult to formulate serums with L-Ascorbic Acid, which is why TO offers it in a powder form to slow/prevent its oxidation. You are meant to mix it with a liquid only as you need it. Don't worry, it dissolves in water based serums almost instantly and does not feel gritty! My "before" photo is from a little over a month ago, and my "after" was taken today (Nov 20) after using the ascorbic acid powder daily for 1 month! Both taken in the same room, same lighting, zero makeup. In addition to improving texture and decreasing breakouts, the difference it made in my pigmentation and skin tone is incredible! This is my AM routine and directions on how to properly use a pure powdered form of Ascorbic Acid. After cleansing, I add 1/2 a scoop of The Ordinary - 100% L-Ascorbic Acid Powder into my palm (start with only 1/4 of the supplied scoop until your skin adjusts). Then I add 2 drops of The Ordinary - Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5and 2 drops of The Ordinary - Amino Acids + B5. You're aiming for about a 20% concentration of vit C. Mix with a finger until the powder is fully dissolved then apply evenly over face and neck, avoiding eye area. It is advised to use additional antioxidants with vitamin C in order to minimize oxidation and increase its effectiveness. Therefore I immediately follow up with 2 or 3 drops of The Ordinary - Resveratrol 3% + Ferulic Acid 3% I then apply an oil to moisturize. I currently use about 3 drops ofThe Ordinary - 100% Cold Pressed Virgin Marula Oil and sometimes mix with a couple drops of The Ordinary - 100% Plant-Derived Squalaneif I need a moisture boost. (Feel free to use any moisturizer that you prefer, as long as it doesn't contain actives that conflict with Ascorbic acid.) The last step is always, always, always sunscreen! I use thinksport - Everyday Face Sunscreenspf 30 which I tint to match my own skin tone (see my previous diy post for this). Then proceed with makeup (or not). Some additional notes: Keep powder closed, away from sunlight, and DRY. Don't even open it in a humid bathroom after a shower! If it oxidizes, toss it immediately. It mixes most easily in water based serums, but can be added to other serum or moisturizer which it does not conflict with (consult TO's regimen guide). Mix only what you need per application, don't pre-mix a batch. And start out slowly since it does tingle/sting a bit. I hope this is helpful, but don't hesitate to ask me if you have additional questions. Thanks for reading!

💰💰Money saved!9 Drunk Elephant Skincare Dupes Recommended by Youtuber Cassandra Bankson👍👍!(1)
💰💰Money saved!9 Drunk Elephant Skincare Dupes Recommended by Youtuber Cassandra Bankson👍👍!(1)
Hey Cherie Beauties! Recently, The YouTuber, a skincare expert, Cassandra Bankson put together 9 of the best dupes for overpriced drunk elephant products. As a big fan of Cassandra, I watched almost all of her science-based skincare videos. Here is the main content of this video about drunk elephant dupes! Read to save money👉👉! The Original: DRUNK ELEPHANT - Protini Polypeptide Cream$68 The Dupe: ACURE - Radically Rejuvenating Whipped Night Cream(Slightly Thicker Application) $18 According to Cassandra, ACURE Radically Rejuvenating Whipped Night Cream just copied the DE’s ingredients list and made it cheaper. ACURE boasts the same epidermal growth factors in Protini and includes ferulic and salicylic acids and Vitamin C in the form of a glucoside. Most importantly, they both contain marula oil, which is the special ingredient that Drunk Elephant always used! The Original: DRUNK ELEPHANT - Virgin Marula Luxury Facial Oil$72 The Dupe:  The Ordinary - 100% Cold Pressed Virgin Marula Oil $9.9 Comparing these two products, they have the same main ingredient, the cold-pressed virgin marula oil. Marula oil is one of the most nourishing oils on the market, with a laundry list of benefits. It delivers significant hydration and absorbs well thanks to its small molecular size. It also comes with an insane amount of antioxidants and omega fatty acids. Since both products only have one ingredient—marula oil—the ordinary oil can be the dupe. The Original: DRUNK ELEPHANT - A-Passioni Retinol Cream $105 The Dupe: elta md SKINCARE - Renew Eye Gel $77 Cassandra analyzed the ingredients and also found that these two products also have similar ones. They both have niacinamide, which is vitamin b3, a component good for redness and a little bit of oiliness in the skin. Also, they both contain peptides and a form of retinol. Spending less money, you're still getting the same benefits as DE! The Original: DRUNK ELEPHANT - C-Firma Vitamin C Day Serum $80 The Dupe: cleen beauty - Vitamin C Papaya Glow Serum$9 Undoubtedly, the hype surrounding Drunk Elephant's C-Firma Vitamin C Day Serum rightfully deserved, as it uses a 15 percent concentration of vitamin C, fruit enzymes, and antioxidants to promote brighter and clear-looking skin with every use. But there is also a dupe. CLEEN BEAUTY matched up with almost all the same ingredients as the Drunk Elephant C-Firma. It fuses certain percent pure vitamin C with anti-aging ingredients like salicylic acid and neurosensine. Plus, it's also under $10, allowing you to grab eight bottles for the price of one C-Firma serum. But Cassandra gave us a note that because of the tumeric, some people have noticed a slight yellow tint to the skin. Wanna know more DE skincare dupes? Follow me and click on the next post💖💖!

Glossier’s Futuredew is makeup, NOT skincare.
Glossier’s Futuredew is makeup, NOT skincare.
I don’t know what compelled me to purchase this other than the glassy packaging and abundance of makeup gurus raving about this product online. I’ve given it so many chances- both as skincare, as primer under makeup, and highlighter over makeup. Here are my thoughts: Glossier. - Futuredew Oil Serum Hybrid Impressions: Other than its packaging, I have very few good things to say about this product. Even for a dry skin gal like me, 0.5 to 2 pumps of this stuff left me feeling like a greasy mess. There are so many different types of oils in one tiny bottle that if I broke out, it would be impossible to figure out the culprit. The formula looks tinted (mica, iron oxides) but applies on the skin sheer. The reason I say this product is not skincare is that the hodgepodge of potentially comedogenic ingredients wouldn’t solve any skin problems. The functionality of futuredew is to leave a superficial dewy “glow” which to me sounds suspiciously like makeup. I will say that as a primer/serum highlighter, futuredew’s “glow” lasts many hours but at the cost of my face feeling sticky and unwashed all day long. I much rather use a light but pigmented highlighter if I’m trying to achieve such a look. Price: $24 for 1 Oz. You know my thoughts already- I won’t be repurchasing even if it was 1/4 of the price! Alternatives: If you are looking for a face oil, here are some alternatives that actually provide long term benefits to the skin! The Ordinary - Retinol 1% in Squalane viva naturals - Jojoba Oil The Ordinary - 100% Cold Pressed Virgin Marula Oil
