What does it do? Aloe
What does it do? Aloe
Each year, it seems like the beauty industry picks a “key ingredient” to put in hundreds of products so they can give us an excuse as to why they are upcharging us. It’s been collagen, snail mucin, tea tree oil, hyaluronic acid, CBD, argan oil, coconut, matcha, manuka honey, niacinamide, vitamin C, etc., to name a few. (Did you know Morroccan Oil is just expensive argan oil?) I think it is a good idea to know why those key ingredients are worth making it into the product name or at the very least on to the label. So aloe ... What does it do for the skin? Aloe is full of vitamins — specifically vitamins A, B , C, D and E as well as minerals like magnesium, potassium and zinc. All of these contribute to the healing properties of aloe vera. It reduces irritation causing by the sun or by things that naturally irritate your skin. Once applied to the irritated area, it can help repair your skin’s damaged barrier. NATURAL ISN’T ALWAYS BETTER: Aloe vera comes in a multitude of forms on the market: decolorized aloe, aloe latex, aloe water and the “sap-like” gel. From “Why Aloe Vera Is Controversial Right Now, According to Experts“ on allure.com: “Non-decolorized, whole-leaf aloe extract contains a chemical called aloin, which has been shown to cause cancer in rats.” BUT it isn’t shown to be dangerous unless it is consumed. (No evidence was shown that is carcinogenic when applied topically.) In the same article, Perry Romanowski, cosmetic chemist and cofounder of The Beauty Brains, said: "Aloe vera is a safe ingredient to use in skin products. But this is a great reminder that just because an ingredient is natural, does not mean that it is automatically safe and effective." Now let’s talk about the two products I decided to highlight: 🚿The OLAY - Mist Ultimate Hydration Essence Cooling Face Spray comes in a pretty soft plastic bottle. It has aloe leaf, chamomile and vitamin B3 to hydrate and calm “dry and tight skin.” You can apply it before moisturizer and after makeup to set and refresh your skin, as needed. When you spray, hold to 5-10 inches from your face. (Contains niacinamide and glycerin.) MY THOUGHTS: This is one of the products that I put under “YouTube made me buy it.” I first saw this mist on Jackie Aina’s channel and I swiped two different types up. I would not repurchase this product. It is unnecessarily fragranced with a floral-like scent that some people may love. I live in the camp of “fragrance is for perfume not for skin care.” Also, the cap DOES NOT want to stay on the bottle. It comes off so easily. Recommend? No. 🧴GOLD BOND - Ultimate Healing Skin Therapy Lotion with Aloe has seven moisturizers and three vitamins to “reveal nourished skin” a deliver 24-hour hydration. MY THOUGHTS: I LOVE THIS LOTION. I’ve used it for more than a year. It hydrates so well. It is my go-to moisturizer to toss in my luggage. It is thick, but absorbs well into the skin. Recommend? YES!

Trying a New product, Yay or Nay?
Trying a New product, Yay or Nay?
Whenever I try a new skin care product, I will always use it for 2+ weeks before I review. This was 2. I wanted to try this product for a long time and found it on sale. I have dry, sensitive skin, so I chose the calming spay. How it could possibly be calming with that much scent, I have no idea, it smells like old lady perfume. After a few uses, I noticed my skin got red and blotchy in some areas. When I stopped using it, my skin was fine. I'm disappointed to say, no, I don't recommend this product

Brown monochromatic makeup look
Brown monochromatic makeup look
I am very much into the monochromatic makeup trend. My go-to monochromatic color is variations of brown. I used to hate my eye shape, but I love this sort of halo eye look. I included two different lip finishes to give variety. Let me know what you think! In the video: • Beauty Creations - Ruby 35 Color Eyeshadow Palette : A dupe for the 35OMORPHE - 35OM Nature Glow Matte Eyeshadow Palette. Not as pigmented, but OK. • Brushes: e.l.f. - Eyeshadow "C" Brush and a fluffy brush e.l.f. - e.l.f. Blending Brush (I cant remember what brand the one I used in the video is.) • OLAY - Mist Ultimate Hydration Essence Cooling Face Spray is what I used to boost the shine of the shimmers. I hate the perfume, but it did the job. • BITE - Power Move Creamy Matte Lip Crayon in Cognac: It wears off easily, but it is easily to reapply. • SEPHORA COLLECTION - Cream Lip Stain Liquid Lipstick in Pretty Auburn: A cheap liquid lipstick with staying power that is a perfect brown. Which lip finish did you like on me more? Which one would you select for yourself? #CheriePartner

What I used tonight
What I used tonight
So honestly, half of these products are brand new, so I'm not going to rate them, even though I'm seriously enjoying touching my face right now. The other 3 I would or have repurchased. The cleanser was a new product. I just realized I didn't snap a pic of the toner it was THAYERS - Rose Petal Facial Toner . I plan to do a review of the products individually. Make sure you check them out ❤

Products I Bought today
Products I Bought today
Between my years of trying new products, and being in my mid 30's I seem to have a potion or lotion for everything. I bought these 3 products today because each had been on my radar and, well, tis the season. I have dry skin at the best of times...this time of year we transition into, absolutely freak out from dryness. Each of these products were purchased with that in mind. Soap and glory is a line I have ALWAYS wanted to try. I had been using a pacifica gel formula cleanser, but it was a little much at this point. I wanted a milk cleanser. Cearve I wanted to try for a while, and honestly if it's as good as they say, it's major bang for your buck ( that said, so is the cleanser). The Olay essence, I heard that at my age I should have one...but when I try a COMPLETELY new product, I tend to dip my toe in instead of diving into the deep end. I happened to find it at the grocery store this evening (I was actually there for a teething remedy lol). It was on sale for $8, so I figured, what the hell. I'll give these products a couple weeks then review them ❤
