Today’s day results-SOTC with La’dor
So I reviewed #La’dor - Wonder Hair Oil[products]#[FiveStars] in my most recent post, but I thought it’d be worth it to post a short video showing my wash-day results, the products I used, and my hair after SOTC! I’m trialing some of AVEDA - Invati Advanced System products for my post Parfum hair loss, and really enjoying the way my scalp feels after using them. My hair feels much fluffier, and healthier. I’ll see how my hair density and growth is after a few mos and then give a full review! I began with AVEDA - Invati Advanced Exfoliating Shampoo Then worked the AVEDA - Invati Advanced Thickening Conditioner into my scalp and the areas I have the most hair fall/loss. It detangled the top portion of my hair surprisingly well, I am Impressed. I used CURLSMITH - Hydro Creme Soothing Mask on my ends to hydrate and detangle. After 5min I rinsed my hair upside down and then scrunched moisture out, so that it wasn’t soaking wet, but still wet enough to get my product in. I primed with eva·nyc - Mane Magic 10-in-1 Primer Then raked through and scrunched in Ouidad - Curl Shaper Take Shape Plumping + Defining Cream I smoothed/scrunched in CURLSMITH - Hydro Style Flexi Jelly thoroughly throughout my hair, styled upside down. I had planned to diffuse for more volume but ended up not having the time, so i ended up just air-drying it. Once completely dry i fluffed my roots and sealed my curls with the La’dor Wonder Hair oil, and SOTC! I’m pretty happy with the results, my hair feels great and curls super defined, but not weighed down. The frizz is kinda nonexistent! I love a good wash day. 😛 Refer to my previous post to see closer pics of the finished results with the oil! Happy wash day curly girls! 💕

Saying Goodbye 👋🏼
This past year I’ve been very aware of my purchases and also very cautious about what I’m bringing into my makeup/beauty collection. Every once and a while I will do a little bit of a declutter and make sure I’m only keeping the things that I’m using on a weekly, or at least monthly basis. This most recent declutter I noticed these two products and realized I haven’t reached for them in months. OFRA - OFRA Highlighter is a beautiful formula- it’s what makes these so many people’s favorite highlighter, it easily glides over the top of whatever product you have underneath and gives you an intense glow. The only reason I’m getting rid of this is because my taste in highlighters have changed and I now like much more soft, more of a “lit from within” type of glow. A couple highlighters that I love and give me this effect are the MARC JACOBS BEAUTY - Irresistible Glow Highlighter Collection & my ride or die MAYA CHIA - The Highlight of the Day The #SGX NYC - So Whipped[products]#[FourStars] is a whipped mousse formula that is supposed to calm frizz, define natural curls, and create a little bit of hold- I do think that this does all of these things, but it’s in the smallest way and I have so many other products that give me better results! Currently I’m obsessed with the eva·nyc - Mane Magic 10-in-1 Primer it smells unbelievable and gives my hair such a smooth texture without getting weighed down! The spray nozzle gives the lightest diffused mist so it’s very difficult to overdo it and use too much, highly highly recommend this one! I’ve found regular declutters and being deliberate about what products I bring into my collection really helpful. It’s let me find what my personal taste is and which products I’ll tend to gravitate for and will actually use on a daily basis!

Battle of the Budget 10-in-1s!
I’m all about low maintenance hair and saving money, so of course I have to review these 2 drugstore hair primers. I’ll be breaking down the winner by category and tallying the winner! Round 1: price- both are a standard 6 oz, but NYM is $7 while Eva is $12. Both are affordable but NYM wins this one. Round 2: texture- Eva is definitely the heavier of the 2 options, you can tell by the fineness of the mist. This is likely due to it’s high amount of oils in the ingredient lists, which is very good for moisture. Personally tho, since my hair is straight and fine, this tends to weight down my hair. Contrastingly, the NYM first ingredient is water which is probably why it’s lighter and cheaper. This round is a tie. Round 3: scent- Both of these are scented with fragrance showing up in the middle of the ingredients list. The Eva product is a stronger, fruity scent that is close to Viva la Juicy perfume, a personal classic of middle school. The NYM is also sweet, but closer to candy than fruit. It’s also lighter than Eva. This round is subjective for sure, but I give it to Eva since I prefer a strong scent if something is scented. Round 4: usage- by this I mean does it really do 10 things? Eva doesn’t list the 10 things on the bottle, but NYM claims to add body, detangle, add shine, protect, moisturize, control frizz, repair dry hair, heat protection, mend split ends, and create silkiness. I think a few of those are repeats, however the one it doesn’t follow through on is repairing dry hair. When I used NYM, I had to add an additional leave-in conditioner to keep my ends from looking dry. Eva doesn’t add body for me since it can make my hair look oily. Again, a tie! Round 5: flexibility- I find that I’m able to use NYM in more situations than Eva. With Eva, I only use as a heat protector since other usage tends to make my hair look wet or oily. I can use NYM as a detangler before I air dry, to calm down bed head, and to heat protect. This round goes to NYM! Results: I prefer NOT YOUR MOTHER'S - All Eyes On Me 10-in-1 Hair Perfector though honestly these products are pretty similar. I think the eva·nyc - Mane Magic 10-in-1 Primer would work well for someone with thicker or curly hair because mine couldn’t stand up to the oils. Neither are perfect holy grails, but good for the price.

best & blah hair products @ Sephora 🌟
BEST & BLAH 👉🏻 Sephora Edition 😌🙌🏼 We all know the holy grail products we can find at Sephora. For me, I flock to the shelves for Ouai, a haircare line quite popular in the IG community 💡Before trying out their line, I was always skeptical of the value in their products. Come on, is this really worth it? I was an avid fan of it's a 10 haircare - Leave-In Conditioner Spray Product , my holy grail for my wavy, thick hair (which, is extremely damaged!) I could always count on that single product after washing my hair to smooth my hair and aid in softening my ends. Eventually, I had to try out Ouai haircare. After bleaching my hair to its absolute end, I knew I needed to find quality products when it came to styling my hair. My hair had always been picky with the products it uses, especially when it came to styling products. Sticky, thick and too drying formulas turn me off. So, when needing to find my “best and blah,” I knew I had to put Ouai in the hot seat. 1. OUAI - OUAI Wave Spray This one left my hair tacky, even with a minimal amount of product sprayed on. My waves weren’t much defined as they would be without this product. This one is $12 (small bottle) at Sephora. Worth it? No, not in my opinion. A better alternative is NOT YOUR MOTHER'S - Beach Babe Soft Waves Spray . 2. OUAI - OUAI Volume Spray Hmmm.. perhaps my hair is thick enough to have volume already. Nevertheless, I was not a huge fan of this volume spray. I used it before blowing my hair out and all it did for me was add more product onto my hair, no volume. Worth it? No 😭 I tried my best to like this product but I can’t bring myself to pay $26. 3. OUAI - Dry Shampoo Foam A NEW DRY SHAMPOO FAVORITE! I love this formula (mousse-like) and the smell. It leaves a refreshing and cooling feeling on my scalp. Worth it? YES. I’ll definitely be buying this again, worth the $28! 4. gisou - Honey Infused Hair Oil This is a great hair oil, don’t get me wrong. I enjoyed the packaging, the consistency and the result of my hair after smoothing this into it; HOWEVER, $46 doesn’t sit right with me for a hair oil so is it worth it? Not for me. 5. eva·nyc - Mane Magic 10-in-1 Primer I enjoyed the smell and lightweight spray of the nozzle, offering a lighter application of the product. But, too much and your hair gets STICKY. Beware of the amount you use. If used right, it’s worth your time. Worth it? $12 for a great heat protectant is worth it to me! 6. gisou - Propolis Infused Polishing Primer Ehhhh, I couldn’t find the value in this for me. I heard a lot of people talk about their hair feeling smoother after styling once using this; however, I personally couldn’t notice a difference. I loved the creamy texture but I can’t purchase it again. Worth it? $34 isn’t worth it for me 😭

5 Minute Flat Iron Beachy Waves🌊
This is one of my favourite go-to hair styles lately to give my hair some texture and dimension! The best part - it literally takes like 5 minutes and you do not need to be a hair styling wizard to pull it off! These are the steps I take + products I use to get this style👇🏻 1️⃣ Spray hair with heat protectant (I used my eva·nyc - Mane Magic 10-in-1 Primer and it works well, the smell is just a bit too strong for my liking) 2️⃣ Section hair using a clip or a scrunchie; my hair is super fine so I typically only do 2-3 sections 3️⃣ Starting with an inch or so wide section on your bottom layer, roll the flat iron forwards and backwards down the section, creating a wave 4️⃣ Continue to do this for the rest of your hair, taking it down section by section as needed 5️⃣ Spray hair with a dry texture spray or wax (I used my IGK - Beach Club Volume Texture Spray which gives great volume and grip) and run your fingers through to mess it up a little! I used my eva·nyc - Spectrum Far-Infrared Styling Iron to create this style and it works pretty well, the iron itself is a bit slippery at times so I struggled to get the definition I was used to getting with my old flat iron, but all in all it gets the job done. After you’re done with the waving, you can style the hair however you want! I will often add a braid or do a half up top knot, it just depends what I’m in the mood for! Thanks for watching🤗 #CheriePartner

My Mental Wellness Improved Through My Self AcceptanceWhen I was around 13 or 14 years old, I remember routinely taking one of my older sister’s black eyeliner pencils before school every morning. I’d arrive early so that I could slip away to the girl’s bathroom to apply a single black line to my eyelids. My parents didn’t allow me to wear any makeup at the time. Although this smudgy line on my eyelids didn’t make me look all that much different, I never felt comfortable at school without it. My teenage mind convinced myself that I needed some sort of cosmetic symbol in order to appropriately express my femininity. Up until that point in my life, society had told girls that looked like me - tall, Black, and with kinky hair - that we somehow weren’t as beautiful as the other girls. For far too long, I believed it too.4 DAYS AGO
