THAYERS-Cucumber Facial Toner
A natural toner! 🥒
EXPERIENCE 💁🏽♀️ Trying to find an alcohol free toner that actually helped my acne was a challenge for me. The toners I used in the past provided a burning 🔥, itchy sensation to my skin; in addition, the products left my skin feeling dry. One of the toners I used was called Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Stress Control. I went with the Neutrogena brand due to the amazing results I gotten in the past, however, I believe the chemicals in the toner were too harsh for my skin. Plus, I didn’t see any improvements with my acne; so much so, I felt as though adding a toner to my daily face routine was adding more problems than it was fixing the original problem. 🤦🏽♀️ Therefore, I stopped adding a toner to my daily skin routine due to the reasons I mentioned previously and due to the expenses, until I came across this product, Thayers Natural Remedies. Lately, I noticed using natural products helped remove my acne and does not leave my face feeling dry 🌵, but finding which natural products work the best ✨ for the type of skin and problems I have was another challenge. By using Thayers as a facial toner, I noticed an immediate change with my acne and the texture of my skin. HOW TO USE 🤷🏽♀️ I use this facial toner twice a day: once in the morning and once at night. I squeeze a little amount onto a cotton ball and put it on my face. This toner is alcohol-free 🚫 (which eliminates sensitivity and redness) and has liquidity (almost like watery) feel to it. After using this toner, my face feels soft, smooth, and moisturized for the day. My face also smells good due to the cucumber scent. 💚🥒💚 RECOMMEND 👍🏽 I recommend this product to those who have sensitive skin, dry skin, and acne. This product is for YOU and will hopefully work for you, as it did for me.

🥀 Empty! Thayers Facial Toner🥀
THAYERS - Rose Petal Facial Mist About me 🤗 and the product 🥀Skin type/skin tone I have combination skin. My t-zone is in the range of normal to oily skin and I have dry skin on my cheeks. My skin tone is warm ivory with a slight reddish discoloration in my cheeks 🧐I also have some freckles across my cheeks and my nose bridge. My skin type for the rest of my body is dry. 🥀Product function The product claims to create healthy looking skin by hydrating💦 the skin and protecting it from impurities in the air 😷. 🥀Texture/consistency The texture and consistency is the same as water. It is not viscous at all, is clear and has a light pleasant smell of roses 🌹. 🥀Packaging The packaging is a simple plastic bottle with a cap on top that can be screwed open. There seemed to be no leakage when I went though the product. Beauty story📖 🥀Overall experience Again, I’ve seen 👀 and heard 👂of this product everywhere and bought it to try it out. After buying this product I added it to my nightly skincare routine by temporarily replacing it with my usual toner (not a traitor I promise! 🥴). 🥀Verdict💔💔 I really wanted to like this product but I couldn’t 😭. The product dried out my already dried combination skin and it irritated my sensitive skin causing it to become red 🥵! I thought it was something else that made my skin become that way so I gave it a second try the next day but sure enough that was the culprit 🧐. Again, after I used the toner, my face was irritated so I stopped using it immediately. I gave the product to my sister to use since she has oily skin and non-sensitive skin. It seemed to work fine for her since she emptied the bottle and did not seem to have any problems?🤷🏻♀️ 🥀Recommend?❌✅ I would absolutely NOT recommend this if you have combination, dry, or sensitive skin since it causes dryness and irritation! ❌ I would maybe recommend it to people with oily and non-sensitive skin since it does have a drying effect and seemed to be fine on my sister. ✅ 🥀Worth it?💰 I bought the small size since it was my first time using this product. The 3 oz was around $4 and the full size, 12 oz is around $10. I would say that it’s worth it 👍🏻 if you have oily skin but not 👎🏻 if you have dry and sensitive skin. I will not repurchase this product and it’s a good thing it worked on my sister and she was able to empty it for me! 😅

How I cleanse: My face ritual
I have oily skin...like really oily skin that breaks out frequently and leaves me with super fun dark spots for months to get rid of. Because of my reactive and oily skin, I have a face cleansing regimen that I rarely ever mess with. Like many people, I wash my face twice a day: once in the morning and again later at night. When I first wake up I wash with KORA - Gentle Cleanser I really appreciate KORA’s washes because they’re unscented and properly moisturize my face which is something that I’ve admittedly neglected in the past due to the fear that moisturizing would make my skin even more oily. Afterwards, I spray KORA - Energizing Citrus Mist directly onto my face and then I finish off with DIFFERIN - DIFFERIN Acne Treatment Gel as my moisturizer. Let me tell you: Differin gel is quite literally life-changing. Honestly, I’m not sure if I would actually like the KORA products as much as I do if it weren’t for the Differin gel that I use afterwards. This gel is what truly balances and stabilizes my oily skin and without it, I’m sure the KORA products would leave me too greasy. Together, they’re the perfect balance, though. Differin gel is really powerful and can definitely dry your face out so be careful and only use it once a day as directed. At night I wash my face with KORA - Foaming Cleanser and then use THAYERS - Rose Petal Facial Mist After toner, I finish off with a spray of KORA - Balancing Rose Mist and then moisturize with DIFFERIN - Restorative Night Moisturizer I really like the rose and citrus mists by KORA because of the organically pure smell that puts me in the mindset to either rest or wake up. When my pores are open after washing, these feel great to spray onto my face. I also exfoliate once a week using Dr.G - Brightening Peeling Gel which is probably one of the best exfoliators I’ve ever used. I quite literally feel the dead skin shedding off of my face as I wash but it isn’t abrasive or harsh at all. Afterwards, my skin feels and looks brighter, cleaner, and healthier. It leaves my face a perfect canvas ready for the rest of my routine. It got rid of most of my worst dark spots by the third use, so paired with the Differin gel, my skin is better than it has been in years. While my skin is far from perfect, I’m proud of the progress that it’s made and am currently happy with my routine!

Why You Should BREAK UP with Witch Hazel ASAP!
This is my skin on a good day, and I want to keep it that way! Witch Hazel is hailed as a do it all miracle worker, however, this common ingredient is hurting your skin even if you can’t see the damage. Witch hazel is not a good long term ingredient or a calming product. This is not only due to the astringent alcohol properties, but also due to witch hazel containing tannins. Both of these things affect photosensitivity, contact dermatitis, barrier function and oil production. All of this not only doesn’t help existing acne and hyperpigmentation, but will make them worse. Tannins are naturally sensitizing ingredients for ALL skin types and are also astringents in their own right. They lead to photosensitivity , and contact dermatitis/eczema in bad cases (like mine). Witch Hazel is from 8-12% tannins. Daily and extended use of witch hazel impairs natural oil production leading to excess sebum and issues with moisture barrier function along with wrinkles and accelerated aging & increased possibility of sun damage. All types of witch hazel are distilled using denatured alcohol AKA ethanol. This leads to the extract containing directly about 14% to 15% alcohol. So, regardless of if the formula is alcohol free witch hazel itself like THAYERS - Rose Petal Facial Mist claims, it will NOT be alcohol free simply due to how Witch Hazel is processed for topical application. So, even if the formula says “alcohol free” witch hazel is processed directly with alcohol to get it into the form we use for skin and body “care”. Again this leads it to be about 15% alch. content itself anyway since “all types of witch hazel are distilled using denatured alcohol, with the extract containing about 14% to 15% alcohol.” -CIR The double whammy of alchohol and tannins (plus essential oils in a lot of cases!) leads to excess drying and impaired oil regulation— this means more sebum more often, and eventually more acne. Truly a nightmare for those suffering already with skin conditions. A harmed barrier also accelerates aging, and the sensitizing ingredients helps collagen breakdown even faster. And these are compound when people use this toner along with AHA/BHAs. This is a big no from me, as not only did it make my skin extremely dry but I got patches of contact dermatitis and eczema every time I have personally used it. I choose to use a hydrating toner with humectants instead.

Why Thayers Witch Hazel Toner is 👍 and 👎
Around April 2019, I added BHA to my skincare routine and was using it daily. My skin experienced redness and burn marks since I was not letting other products dry properly before applying my BHA. In my state of panic, I messaged my Curology provider right away. 👍 Along with my Curology formula, she recommended I purchase Thayers Witch Hazel Toner. It’s 100% effective against redness. Within a month, it soothed the burnt dark spots I had and I couldn’t have asked for more. I used it everyday for a whole month by applying the toner onto a cotton pad, gently swiping over my entire face. 👎 In 30 days what I learnt was that witch hazel is a natural astringent. So even if it’s alcohol-free, an astringent is a type of chemical that shrinks or constricts body tissues causing dryness. It started to strip away the surface layer of my skin until I noticed flakes all over sensitive areas of my face: nose and chin. Take a peek at my second picture where I try to highlight those areas. CONCLUSION: Overall, if you suffer from redness or minor burns then please use witch hazel toner until you need it but never forget the step of moisturizing! It works but you don’t need this applied permanently into your skincare routine. RECOMMENDATION: If you bought into the fad and have a big bottle at home, don’t worry. Witch hazel is so versatile and can be used for: - relieves minor cuts by reducing 🩸 bleeding - soothe razor burns 🪒 and diaper rashes 🐣 - spot treatment for acne spots and pimples - helps treat hemorrhoids for anyone suffering 🙏 - tucks medicated pads without the cotton pad. Hooray for postpartum mamas! The product has so many good reviews and its always easy to believe in the overhype. I hope THAYERS - Rose Petal Facial Mist works out for you if you’re using it daily but there’s so many more toners out there that is way better for your skin that can address your skin concerns without over drying. Let’s strive for happier and healthier skin. Thanks for reading! 🤩
