Tough journey to good skin
I have always struggled with acne. As a person with Rosacea, my skin is ALWAYS read, I break out even if I look myself wrong in the mirror and trying to get into a skincare routine without breaking it, it’s a hassle. But, not impossible. Over the past month I started this routine, that if I may see and I haven’t followed through with it 100% of the time but at least a good 85%. I have to admit I haven’t seen my skin clear up as fast as I have with these products. So I’m going to break down step by step my routine. 1. Cleansing - the Clean&Clear - Morning Burst Oil-Free Gentle Daily Face Wash THIS is a relief on my skin, it feels so good. After that is definitely THAYERS - Witch Hazel Astringent , I bought the Coconut water scent one and it’s definitely one of my favorites. 2. Serums - I’ve always used Vitamin E, but never saw any type of improvement so I made a bit of research and this is what I use. The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% After that I use FARMASI - Dr C Tuna Activated Charcoal Serum this one has been wonderful for the rough skin in my nose and forehead. artnaturals - 2.5% Retinol Age Defying Serum now this one makes my skin feel soft and refreshed. Last but not least in my serum is The Ordinary - Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG I have some dark circle under my eyes and if I don’t have my beauty sleep, Lord knows they show up, so this one is very good for my under eye circles. I confess I bought the Peeling Solution from The Ordinary but I’m a bit scared to try it. 3. Moisturize - This might be one of my favorite steps since it’s the most refreshing ones. For my rosácea, to bring the redness down I use FARMASI - Dr C Tuna Calendula Face Cream and for my regular moisturizer I use SheaMoisture - Cannabis & Witch Hazel Skin Rescue Moisturizer Now this, thiiiiiiiiiis is THE BOMB people, I’m telling you, it’s my LIFE SAVER. 4. Acne treatment - For pimples trying to come out, I use BURT’S BEES - Natural Acne Solutions Maximum Strength Spot Treatment Cream along with alba BOTANICA - Acne Pimple Patch and the next day, BOOM! Gone! All these products I bought of either the brand page or Target. I keep these stored in a mini fridge so they’re cold and refreshing to the skin.

The thayers natural Witch Hazel toner always got a place in my drawer and it's for good reasons. Witch hazel is one of those potent ingredients, that has a number of skin benefits including being soothing, acting as an anti-inflammatory, and having antioxidant properties. It's commonly used as a means of removing excess oil from the skin, so it can be useful for acne-prone skin. All of those benefits comes from high concentration of tannins which comes from the un-distilled process of extracting witch hazel leaves and bark. Tannins are astringents, but it doesn't dry the skin out like most alcohol-based toners. On top of that, it's formulated with all-natural ingredients, including Grapefruit Seed Extract as a natural preservative to keep the quality of its formula. This toner comes in different varieties and scents. I've tried Rose Petal, Lavender, and Cucumber, but I mostly repurchased the Unscented one since it has more minimal ingredients. And I don't mind with the herbal smell of traditional witch hazel. I use this to tone my face in the morning and at night. The consistency is light and non-sticky just like water, but better! It gives me the "clean" feeling that most non-alcohol-based toners can't give. With that said, it does a good job keeping my oils at bay. So I feel like this product can help prevent whiteheads and blackheads. I also found it beneficial to prevent razor burn or ingrown hairs, even to soothe redness and stinging from sunburns. For the aforementioned uses, I simply put some drops onto a cotton pad and sweep it across the affected area to feel instant relief. You’ve probably heard the claim that it will shrink your pores, well this product didn't do that to me. However, I always go back to this product because I know I wouldn't get any bad reaction from it. When I experienced discomforts, irritation or allergic reaction from other products, it calms the itching and redness which feels like a complexion reset. It doesn't sting even if I've freshly exfoliated or pricked a few active acne. I would say it's a great toner even compared to some high-end brands.

“Simplicity is key” is not a cliche
I’m a chemistry graduate weening her way into the personal care sciences to make effective skincare and makeup that has a long lasting effect on the way your skin treats you. I have a deep passion to help people around me understand what the hell is going on with their skin. More often than not, the issue is... we be doin too much. I don’t have problematic skin per say but she is sensitive, picky, and temperamental. For a while I fell down the 10 step skin care routine rabbit hole. I put a toner on my face, a serum, another serum, aloe Vera gel, and two heavy moisturizers. I thought that would make me glowy. Wrong. Instead what happened was my skin started growing bacteria. Fungal acne, my new worst enemy. There was too much going on. I had little spots on my forehead I couldn’t get rid of. So like any other skin care junkie I decided to combat it with even MORE products. When that didn’t work, I thought about how my skin was in high school. A single pimple during my time of the month and that was it. Why wasn’t my skin fussy back then? It’s cuz I didn’t do much back then. I scaled back. I used simple skin care with simple ingredients. I used skin care from the same brand to see if the way they work together benefitted me. Low and behold, my fungal acne was defeated. But then came eczema. As I’ve gotten older, my seasonal allergies have taken over my life. Not only do I have to go out of my way to keep itchy eyes and sneezes at bay, but eczema so graciously decides to find a home under my eyes. Insert eye creams. Insert... two eye creams. Truly a dynamic duo. All the products tagged here are my holy grail items. I’m loyal to them and will die for them. They continually fix my skin when she’s acting up and give her a pat on the back when she’s behaving. I’m back on my cycle of getting one blemish per month and I keep that at bay with DifferinGel & acne patches. Sometimes when we cut back, our skin will thank you. Tips: Don’t wet your face before putting this cleanser on. Weird. I know. But don’t. Let your dry skin drink this in first. Then add water to foam it up after it’s completely rubbed in. Your skin will feel 10 times more moisturized after cleansing this way. Don’t towel dry your face. Let it air dry. Pat the water in. Use a hand fan. A sopping wet face? Yeah. That’s what we want. Letting your face air dry allows your face to drink that water! The Hyaluronic acid serum retains water from the air and the water already on your skin. Youre giving your serum a boost if you let your face air dry. That’s where the moisture will be retained from.

baby’s first skincare routine
taking advantage of quarantine to finally put together a grown-up skincare routine! i have oily skin and recurring acne, so i’m still trying to figure out how to curb breakouts. anybody else like these products? or have any other recommendations? 💕 • CLEANSER • CeraVe - Hydrating Facial Cleanser this just feels good to put on. silky smooth, clean, refreshing. GARNIER - SkinActive Micellar Cleansing Water All-in-1 Cleanser & Waterproof Makeup Remover i only use this when i’ve been wearing makeup, which hasn’t been much lately, but it does the trick. it’s also good for when i feel like double cleansing at night. • TONER • THAYERS - Witch Hazel Astringent love this for helping minimize my pores. sometimes i swab it on mid-day if my skin is feeling extra oily. • ACNE TREATMENT • Neutrogena - On-the-Spot Acne Treatment i’ve been using this for a million years and it’s great for getting acne to disappear as quickly as possible. just an awesome little spot treatment. Clearasil - Rapid Rescue Deep Treatment Wash this is a nighttime acne wash and it seems to work pretty well. it does have an intense chemical smell, which isn’t my favorite. • MOISTURIZER • Neutrogena - Neutrogena Hydroboost Water Gel Moisturizer i love this stuff. my roommate thinks it’s an alien serum since it’s so pretty and blue. putting this on at night just makes my skin feel so hydrated and fancy. plus, it’s super light, which is a godsend for oily skin. Neutrogena - Facial Moisturizer i put this on in the morning because i know i need some spf, but it still leaves me feeling oily even though there’s no oil in it! still hunting for an spf moisturizer that doesn’t smell so sunscreen-y and feel heavy in my skin.

My Quarantine Skin Transformation
The first picture was taken March 20 and the second was just yesterday. I’m honestly shook to be honest. My skin was scaley and dry. I had no routine. I had lost all of my skincare stuff and was washing my face with water and would use rosehip oil to moisturize. Then I used the MARIO BADESCU - Peptide Renewal Serumand my skin WENT CRAZY. Bumps EVERYWHERE. Skin going insane. My skin has never looked like this. Then I finally got some money to buy some skincare stuff and this is what I’ve got: Oil Cleanser : KOSE COSMEPORT - SOFTYMO Speedy Cleansing Oil- I don’t know if this is working yet. It takes off makeup. I’m terrified of oil on my face but it’s not done bad yet. I did break out a little bit after I started using it but it could be purging. I use this every night and morning for 60 seconds on dry skin. Foaming Cleanser: CeraVe - Foaming Facial Cleanser For Normal To Oily Skin- I like this. It’s not drying I feel clean and my face feels good after wards. I use this right after oil cleansing. Toner: THAYERS - Witch Hazel AstringentI use this one in Aloe. OK SO I KNOWWW THAT PEOPLE DONT LIKE THIS. But it really changed my face. Before using it, my face was really bumpy even thought I was cleaning and moisturizing and exfoliating but this really soothed my skin and made everything go on better. I use this around my neck area too because it’s dark. Exfloliator: Glossier. - Solution Exfoliating Skin PerfectorThis helped my skin like get rid of bumps and dryness but it also makes my skin red which I don’t like. But for now Im using it. I would recommend this to start off your exfoliating journey. MOISTURIZER: Glossier. - Priming Moisturizer Rich Luxurious Face CreamI like this. It saved my dry skin it really hydrates and it’s not annoying. When you use it after the solution it does burn a bit. Just a warning but i really like this. SPF: Glossier. - Invisible Shield Daily SunscreenAnother glossier product. This isn’t sponsored I just did a big order. This is nice it’s a gel consistency which i genuinely love. And it’s been helping my dark spots according to cherie hehe ANYWAYS my skin is doing a LOT better but there are still problems with it. I have pimples. LOTS of blackheads. large pores. Hopefully with time I can correct those. Anyways till next time 😜

My morning self care routine!
Good morning fellow Cheries! Or afternoon/night depending where you live! Here is my newly adjusted AM routine for my face. It was adjusted after a visit to a esthetician (see my last post) who recommended to me that I switch out my harsh Aveeno foaming cleanser with salicylic acid to something more gentle due to it drying my skin out. I got philosophy - Purity One-Step Facial Cleanserwhich I can’t yet rate because I’ve used it twice but so far it’s very refreshing and smells nice. I pay dry and move on to my next step THAYERS - Witch Hazel Astringent I love this toner because it clears up any dirt the cleanser may have missed, and doesn’t over dry my skin. Next I allow my toner to dry and use The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% Which has been helping with redness and acne scarring. I haven’t seen them ease up in size but I have seen some scars ease up in redness. Lastly I use CLINIQUE - Moisture Surge 72-Hour Auto-Replenishing Hydrator This is the best moisturizer I’ve ever used. It leaves my skin plump feeling and full of moisture. This is my daily AM routine. If you have any questions or comments don’t be shy!@CheriePick
