Second installment of retinol
Second installment of retinol diaries! I kept usage to 2x/week since that was working well, and I wanted to reincorporate acids without overtaxing my skin. Switched to drunkelephant a-passioni*, which I really like so far, though I still mix it with an HA serum. I did skip a week or so when I was sick, so I had a tiny bit of purging when resumed, but otherwise it was fine. Here are some of the products I used: ▪️for chemical exfoliating, I reintroduced DE framboos serum or katesomerville liquid exfolikate* (only one per night), or just some pixi glow tonic to be gentle, on non-retinol nights (combining the two will be my next test). Conversely, I'd skip all treatments (save a hydrating serum) at least once a week to give my skin a rest ▪️ then I tried a resurfacing mask, once every 2-3 weeks, either peachandlily reboot mask or DE babyfacial*, spaced out a day or two from retinol, and my moisture barrier has felt fine! ▪️ continued with lots of hydration, especially in layers like adsorb moist essence*, jurlique herbal recovery serum*, paulaschoice peptide booster*, and olivarrier squalane oil* ▪️ same for cleansing- focused on gentle/nourishing ones like glossier milky jelly cleanser and elemis pro-collagen cleansing balm* ▪️ I also resumed using a vitamin c serum in the mornings, 4-5x/week, recently DE c-firma*, and it's yet to cause any irritation ▪️ SPF all day, every day! The superscreen* by supergoop is great for days with minimal sun exposure (since you have to reapply a lot), or the coola sun silk drops since it wears well under makeup ▪️ after retinol but before moisturizer, I'd supplement with iope cica cream* when needed, great for soothing and hydration

Little but mighty!
Little but mighty!
Ok, first things first: This little guy has helped me well with my face mask acne. I already did a full review on it on my previous post, but I believe this little bottle deserves its own space here. The one thing I CANNOT stand about this product is the smell 😩😩😩 It’s super strong and definitely not pleasant. However, when it comes to its effectiveness, I must say it’s great. My skin does feel clean, like I’ve taken away a thin layer of extra whatever was there (sorry lol, it’s hard to explain). It burns a bit on my breakouts, but it has helped reduce them too. This product is NOT to be overdone, it’s a strong formula that contains Alpha Hydroxy Acid, which can be damaging to the skin when not used properly. PLEASE use at night only, and REMEMBER to use SPF during the day as well as minimum sun exposure for the sake of your skin staying healthy and getting the most benefit out of AHA’s!! Sephora Holiday Sale Haul
Sephora Holiday Sale Haul
This is 35! My husband recently joked “is the fact that you’re turning 35 the reason why you got so into skincare recently?”. The truth is probably yes. The Sephora Holiday Sale lined up perfectly with my 35th birthday this week, so I bought myself some new products to try. Happy Birthday to me 🥳 Here’s what I got & why & first impressions: Sephora Birthday Gift Milk MAKEUP - Lip + Cheek Shade Werk. I used this product today and loved it! I will add it to my minimal daily make-up routine. Can be easily thrown into your purse. Adds a pop of colour to my cheeks & lips. I like that it’s matte. Living proof. - 5-in-1 Styling Treatment from Rewards Bazar. Looking to test how this product compares to MOROCCANOIL - Curl Defining Cream that I have been using recently. 99% of the time I add some product to damp hair and let it air dry. SEPHORA COLLECTION - Bright Future Gel Serum Concealer I purchased this as a dupe to the Nars Concealer. It retails for $18 vs. $39 for Nars. It went on very smooth. I loved the feel. But it was lighter coverage than I was hoping. I felt like I could still see my dark circles under the concealer. Im looking forward to introducing an acid into my routine. I bought The Ordinary - Lactic Acid 10% + HAbecause it was less than $10, so it let’s me try something new in my routine without a huge investment. I also got Kate Somerville - Liquid ExfoliKate Triple Acid Resurfacing Treatmentfrom the Rewards Bazar. I will try the products separately and see which product I prefer. You can look forward to a comparison post in the future :) Similarly, I’ve been reading a lot about Vitamin C and really wanted to add a Vit C serum to my AM routine. I was debating a couple different products, but the prices were $80+ and I found the reviews really mixed. So, I decided to start with The Ordinary - Ascorbic Acid 8% + Alpha Arbutin 2%it was less than $10 and includes Alpha Arbutin, which is great for hyperpigmentation. I will let you know what I think! Next, I picked up GLAMGLOW - Youthmud Glow Stimulating & Exfoliating Treatment Mask from the Rewards Bazar. Tingled a lot the first couple minutes. It did leave my skin looking very smooth & clean. But, it’s $99 for 3.5oz! So, I won’t be running out to purchase. Finally, I decided buy the hyped LANEIGE - LANEIGE Lip Sleeping Mask Lips are one of the areas I’ve neglected. I’ve started to notice my lips aren’t as full and losing their colour. I was hesitant to spend $26 on a lip mask, but Im happy that it’s a good size jar that will last a while. Love the little applicator brush. It feels very luxurious applying it. I like the consistency. Not as thick as I was expecting. I like the berry scent. Dare I say after two nights of using it my lips feel more hydrated, plumper and even younger!

let’s talk neck care!
let’s talk neck care!
Neck and décolletage care! This type of skin care isn’t addressed as much, but it’s still an important step of skincare! I never really thought about it while I was addressing my face skin concerns, but I once read that it was good to bring your skincare products down to your neck, so I started doing that about 8 months ago. I think my neck lines are partly genetic, but they’re also due to how often I sit in bed staring at my phone, thus creating deeper lines on my neck. I wish I had a picture from 8 months ago, but my neck was pretty wrinkly, it had really deep horizontal neck lines that I couldn’t get rid of even if I stretched my neck. While I still have some horizontal lines on my neck, they’re certainly less visible than they were before. So what do I do exactly? I really don’t do much besides bring my toners, serums, sunscreen, and moisturizers down to my neck, and I massage it in in an upward direction. So with the product on my hands, I start to massage from the base of my neck up to my chin. I do this until I feel like the product has been absorbed. Massaging the product in an upward direction will help smooth the skin and prevent drooping. I certainly did not see results immediately. In fact, it took at least 6 months of doing this little massage every morning and night to see some change. I really just stuck to it and ended up doing it out of habit for many months, then one day I realized my neck looked much smoother than it was before. Here are some of the products I’ve been using on my neck (I usually use these on my face too): innisfree - Cica Toner with Bija Seed Oil innisfree - Green Tea Moisture-Balancing Toner CeraVe - PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion THE inkey LIST - Hyaluronic Acid Serum Kate Somerville - Liquid ExfoliKate Triple Acid Resurfacing Treatment FIRST AID BEAUTY - Ultra Repair Cream The Ordinary - 100% Organic Cold Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil

So, it’s been now over two weeks and these are the fab 5 that have helped my skin SO much from all my “facemask-acne”. Yes, it’s taken a little while, but I am happy that my breakouts are almost completely gone (except for a very stubborn one near my mouth). Please note: I do NOT recommend any of these products for anyone with sensitive skin, except for the face spray!! Ok, let’s go product by product now: NEOSTRATA - Foaming Glycolic Wash I LOVE this face wash! Everything from the super soft foam texture, the small amount you need, and the barely there scent is great about it. The 4 and not 5 stars?? If you overuse it (like I have 🤦🏻‍♀️) it’ll dry out your skin a bit. So, careful !! MARIO BADESCU - Facial Spray with Aloe, Herbs and Rosewater This little spray is everything to me. The main reason: it does NOT have any alcohol in it and therefore doesn’t dry my skin out. I like to use it as a “toner” in between my wash/treatments/moisturizer, but when I need a bit of hydration through the day, I just do a couple of sprays 😊 Kate Somerville - Liquid ExfoliKate Triple Acid Resurfacing Treatment Ok, first things first: the one thing I CANNOT stand about this product is the smell 😩😩😩 It’s super strong and definitely not pleasant. However, when it comes to its effectiveness, I must say it’s great. My skin does feel clean, like I’ve taken away a thin layer of extra whatever was there (sorry lol, it’s hard to explain). It burns a bit on my breakouts, but it has helped reduce them too. Once again, another product NOT to be overdone, it’s a strong formula that contains Alpha Hydroxy Acid, which can be damaging to the skin when not used properly. PLEASE use at night only, and REMEMBER to use SPF during the day as well as minimum sun exposure for the sake of your skin staying healthy and getting the most benefit out of AHA’s!! NEOSTRATA - Acne Clarifying Solution This solution right here is bomb! Yes, I said it. Has to be the best acne solution I’ve ever used. It does work great for my skin. I only dab a saturated cotton pad where I need it (breakouts mostly and oily parts of my face). It burns my breakouts, yes, I literally DO feel the burn lol, which it also means it’s working, right? 🤔 It’s also helped with my redness and the breakout bumps minimize noticeably! And last, but not least MARIO BADESCU - Mario Badescu Drying Lotion Yes, another cult fave that I HAD to try myself lol. I think it’s effective and it does a good work by drying out breakouts (or anything that’s a pustule or such). My only complaint is that it takes a while to see the results. Maybe I was expecting it to be one of those “overnight miracle” products, but it just isn’t. It’s also recommended to be applied and left overnight, which I did, but in the morning my ugly little bumps were still there, just in the slow process of going away...

My face after a bit over a week
My face after a bit over a week
So, this is what I’m looking like after using all of these products RELIGIOUSLY, DAY and NIGHT (as per their own directions respectively). I honestly don’t know what else to do. My horrid facemask-breakouts have definitely improved, yes, but after a bit over a week I would expect them to be completely gone! Sadly, there’s still bits of them here and there, still visible AND some even painful 😥😪😭😩 Especially the one on the left side of my mouth keeps going and coming back. Some of the products I feel have helped me, but I guess not all of them are as effective...
