On the backdrop of the inspiring, colourful and majestic Frieda Kahlo, I bring you some (not all) of my winter essentials, for this year. The colder, wetter weather has definitely started to dry out my usually oily skin. Over the summer months I only really exfoliated once every 2 weeks, if that. Now I am exfoliating twice a week alternating between elemis papaya enzyme peel and the elemis gentle rose exfoliator. Keeping skin fresh and glowing, whilst getting rid of dry, dead skin cells and prepping for some major hydration definitely makes a difference to me during this season . I try keep the exfoliating products I use fairly gentle, as previously harsher acids (mainly high % glycolics) irritated my skin, even though they were super effective in the short term, before the irritation occured. . In the colder months my skin also loves a balm to oil/milk cleaner, if you splash the cash you can't go wrong. elemis pro-collagen cleansing balm, the eve_lom cleanser, the a.florenceskincare balm cleanser are ALL gorgeous, leaving you with clean, nicely soft, hydrated and nourished skin. . A good night cream is essential during the winter, I really like esteelauder night wear plus, because its extremely absorbent, not too greasy, feels gentle and really gives my skin a boost. In the past I also used clarinsofficial multi active night, which was a bit more greasy but extremely moisturising, sometimes it felt like it was sitting on top of the skin though, which I didnt like. . I also start to use much creamier and heavier eye creams when its colder, at the moment I am using shiseido benefiance wrinkleresist24 intensive eye cream. I can only put it on at night as its quite heavy and greasy but it definitely feels right for this time of year. Another one I highly recommend and would get next is the esteelauder advanced night repair eye.

Oh my stars! I love the smell, I love how my skin feels during and especially after, and I cannot for the life of me find anything else quite like this little tube! I’m going to be so extremely sad when my tube is out and I have to buy more. I’m pretty sure this one is becoming a must-have!

I am in love with my everskincare palette I got from lisa pretto! I love how small and compact it is! It’s super convenient for on the go. It’s not only handy, but has the perfect sized mirror too! I have used the elemis Papaya Enzyme Peel and I am very pleased with the results! I am happy that I have actually started using peels because they are doing wonders on my skin. The luci skin Radiant Face Gel has become one of my go-to’s for when my face has been extra dull looking and I need an extra boost of glow. This is also super convenient to have on hand at any day of the week! Of course, I could not forget to mention the heyhoney Trick and Treat Cream Concealer! I got it once a while ago in an ipsy bag and instantly fell in love with the texture and amazing coverage!

Please critique my skincare routine!
Disclaimer: very new to this app, not exactly sure if i’m doing this right 😂 I was hoping that a kind soul could give me some feedback on my skincare routine! I’m not sure whether or not to add or remove any of these, so any help is much appreciated! Step 1: To cleanse, I use the Murad - Clarifying Cleanser ! On days I wear makeup, I do a double cleanse adding sulfur soap since it’s much gentler on the skin. I do one cleanse in the morning, and two at night. This process sometimes does leave my skin feeling a bit dry, especially after a double cleanse, but on their own, have worked wonders for treating my pesky mask acne :) Step 2: I use the SK-II - Facial Treatment Clear Lotion Toner I dab it on a soft face towel and use it on my T zone, as well as any acne spots I have. I absolutely looove this product and have definitely seen results as described, other than my minor breakouts here and there Step 3: I use the SK-II - Facial Treatment Essence (Pitera Essence) For this, I do a couple shakes and pat all over my face. I’ve read a lot of mixed reviews about this product, and whether or not it’s just a gimmick, but since using this product, I have rarely had excessively dry or oily skin, and it has definitely evened out my skin tone, and (before covid/mask wearing) minimized pores! Step 3: (Alternate) I couldn’t find product information on here, but now and then I will use the Ambre Blends Skin Tonic. This is a local Midwest company that started as a fragrance line that I have been wearing for years! I tried the skin tonic when they first released during a time when my skin was extremely dry and flaky. It gave me soooo much hydration and the smell is absolutely amazing! However, it wasn’t so great at keeping my breakouts to a minimum, and I haven’t been able to tell which ingredients caused that. They pride themselves on natural ingredients and I included a slide of the contents of the bottle! Step 4: For under eye serum, I use L'OCCITANE - Immortelle Divine Eye Cream I have extremely dark circles, and I decided to give this a try and it definitely has reduced them a bit! It’s a very soothing and light cream, but I do wish it showed better results! I do this entire routine twice a day, and so far it has seemed to work out for me! I still go through periods of oily skin, and lately with having to wear a mask all the time, my pores have appeared a lot larger :( I also have a constant battle with maskne, but I do occasionally use acne patches ( Rael - Miracle Ratch ) The last slide also shows the product I use when I do an occasional face mask. I try to keep this to a minimum, at least 2-3 times a month. I’ve never had better results than the ELEMIS - Papaya Enzyme Peel !
It’s Alright 😌
Okay so this was a gift from my Mom, she’s always trying to add to my skincare routine. So I gave it a try. There are some great things happening in the ingredients list and some not so great ones, but you do wash off this peel. Also there is fragrance- so if you’re sensitive to that beware. Let me say Elemis knows how to create an experience. They know what they are doing to make you feel like you’re doing something luxurious. The feel and smell of this peel is really great. It goes on easy and just felt really nice on my skin. I warmed it into my palms and applied to cleans skin, avoiding my eye area. I let it sit for 10-15 minutes and removed with lukewarm water. It was very gentle on my skin. (This is not going to be as effective as AHA/BHAs, but IS going to be more gentle) I couldn’t feel any tingling or anything. If you’re looking for a very gentle exfoliating treatment this is definitely an option. However, at $45 for not even 2oz. it is a bit steep, I did have some kind of reaction to this. My skin broke out in tiny bumps the following day. This was the only new thing I had added to my routine. Still it could have been this or something completely different. The bumps went away in about a week whether they were from this mask or not. Apart from the bumps this was a nice gentle exfoliating experience.

How to reduce milia effectively? My HG cleanser!
Months ago, I found some tiny but annoying white bumps under my eyes. My friends told me they are milia. I was confused and I hoped to get rid of it immediately. So I did some research on the internet. I read some articles Quick overview of milia🔍 MILIA are small white to yellow colored cysts formed when skin flakes or keratin get trapped under the skin. Some people may call them “milk spots.“ They occur commonly around the eyes and on cheeks but can appear anywhere. They tend to occur as a result of skin damage (like sun damage) or excessive use of harsh products on the skin. Milia VS Pimples At first, I regarded these milia as pimples. But my friend told me they were different! Attempting to pop them may cause further inflammation and scarring. The pores need to clear out the built-up keratin for the milia to go away. So, AVOID picking or poking them! How Do I Get Rid Of Milia? They usually go on their own. So like I have said before, NEVER picking or poking them to avoid scarring and infection. If you want to get rid of it quickly, you can try some chemical peels. Use a retinoid cream or AHAs and BHAs at night to reduce their occurrence. I have sensitive and acne-prone skin so I need a gentle cleanser to exfoliate my skin. I have seen many reviews saying good things about La Roche-Posay Effaclar Medicated Gel Cleanser. I included it in my PM routine and magically my milia got better. I also used Elemis PAPAYA ENZYME PEEL. I heard that it's a great option for beginners who are nervous of aggressive formulas. I have been using these products for about 5 weeks. No redness, no stinging, just smooth skin! A few more TIPs👇 Avoid using oil-based creams Avoid scrubbing the face too often CCW! If you have experienced the same things like me, you can comment and I will see what I can do.
