Practicing My Wedding Makeup!
Practicing My Wedding Makeup!
I’m getting married in two weeks - ahhhhh!!! My fiancé and I are having a very small ceremony and dinner with close friends/family on 9/6. Next summer we’ll have a big celebration when things are safer (hopefully). I’m going to be doing my own hair and makeup. I’ve practiced a couple times, but this look is the highest contender (judge being my very picky and natural beauty-loving fiancé). I wanted a look that provided soft definition and glowy skin. I’ve reviewed a few of these on Cherie before, and recommend all of these items. Face: touch in SOL - No Poreblem Primer raved about this before, great for all skin types, somewhat covers pores, extends wear of makeup URBAN DECAY - Stay Naked Weightless Foundation lightweight, medium-buildable coverage, natural matte finish (my shade is 30NN) e.l.f. - Hydrating Camo Concealer excellent coverage, not drying, stays put (my shade is “light peach” HOURGLASS - Ambient Lighting Edit Volume 4 this was limited edition from 2018, but you can get a very similar bronzer from their permanent line, and the finishing powders are sold as singles too. Provides a bit of luminosity and gives the skin an ethereal finish. Hourglass products are expensive, but worth it. tarte - Hamptons Weekender Contour Palette I used the bronzer and blush from this. Great palette for fair-medium skin tones. Bronzer leans more neutral. Charlotte Tilbury - Beauty Highlighter Wand i used the shade “spotlight” (silvery/pinky). It looks melted into my face! It’s absolutely stunning but a bit pricey ($38), so I’d give it 4.5/5 stars. Eyes: persona - Identity Eyeshadow Palette high-quality, buttery shimmers, creamy mattes. MILANI - MILANI Eyeshadow Primer I use this all the time. It’s great for the price! I did apply some random false lashes from Shop Miss A but I can’t find which ones. Mascara would work just fine. Lips: I forgot to feature my lip products in the flat lay, so I tagged them in my “selfies”! I used Charlotte Tilbury - Matte Revolution Lipstick in “Pillowtalk” with lilah b. - Luxe Lip Oil Mini Duo shade “b elegant” on top. Pillowtalk is a my lips but better shade (pink-ish) and “b elegant” lip oil is a nude gloss. Love the color combo!! There are NO filters on these photos, by the way! Pores? We Don’t Know Her
Pores? We Don’t Know Her
I’ve been using this magical face primer for two years ever since I saw Jeffree Star rave about it on his channel - I’ve been hooked since! I have a large makeup collection & I am constantly adding and trying new products, so the fact that I continue to keep using this primer and always have to keep a backup on hand says A LOT! The name “No Poreblem” is so incredibly fitting as this primer certainly lives up to all of its claims - this lightweight, silky smooth primer fills in all of your pores, lines, and uneven texture, giving you a true even canvas to work with when applying makeup. I’ve been known to even wear just this primer and no foundation at all over it just to even out my skin on days where I’m on a crunch for time! There are a lot of silicone, silky based primers on the market, and having oily combination skin, I usually stray away from them but this primer doesn’t make my skin look oily or greasy. Every foundation I’ve worn on top of this primer always wears beautifully on top. This primer retails for $18 but Touch in Sol hosts a lot of sales on their website so you could get this for a lot less! Either way, totally worth every penny!

A+ Base Products
A+ Base Products
Starting off with a good base is important because it sets the foundation (no pun intended!) for the rest of your makeup. Whether you like more coverage or less coverage, make sure you take the time to prep your skin with products that you love and work for your skin. Let your skincare and SPF sink in for several minutes at minimum before applying any makeup! About me: fair/light neutral-ish undertones, dry skin Preferred foundation coverage: medium Preferred concealer coverage: medium - full Primer: Choose a primer that aligns with your skin type and desired effect. Because I have dry skin, I tend to avoid mattifying/oil controlling primers. I do like pore-filling ones near my nose and cheeks, and hydrating ones for winter time. My year-round pick is the touch in SOL - No Poreblem Primer .This primer has a smooth, silicone-y texture that does blur pores a bit without mattifying or sucking moisture out of my face. Mine’s half empty! $18 Foundation: I prefer a natural finish to foundations. I really love the URBAN DECAY - Stay Naked Weightless Foundation (30NN) because it provides medium buildable coverage while being insanely lightweight. It feels like nothing on my skin. It also works with different types of primers. I recommend this because it’s long-wearing and has a great shade range. I’m not a high end foundation gal, but this one is worth it. $39 Concealer: I’ve been using the ELF camo line for a while. e.l.f. - Hydrating Camo Concealer (light peach) and I really love it. It’s got medium coverage right out the gate and can be built up. Wears well. The price is unbeatable at about $6! Powders: I have under eye lines and all concealers crease/settle in. It is what it is. I’ve been using the essence - Brighten Up! Banana Powder for a few years now. It’s got a slight yellow tint to it that adds just a touch of brightness. My concealer is locked in all day and doesn’t look dry or cakey. I wouldn’t suggest it for deeper skin tones, though. $5 For all-over or targeted face powder, I like the Milk MAKEUP - Blur + Set Matte Loose Setting Powder loose powder. You get a ton of product for the price ($29 for 29g) and it’s available in a few shades (mine is “translucent light”). It’s a good powder for all skin, but especially dry, because it doesn’t emphasize dry patches. I don’t necessarily use the UD foundation and this powder together (though I have and it’s great); however, I like to use this powder with dewier foundations or to tame any mid-day oils. Tools I love: AOA studio - AOA Wonder Blender LUXIE - 732 Airbrush Foundation Brush Protools e.l.f. - Flawless Concealer Brush REAL TECHNIQUES - Your Finish/Perfected, Setting Brush BOXYCHARM - FIVE BRUSH SET WITH BC LOGO POUCH #CheriePartner

K-Beauty Makeup + Look
K-Beauty Makeup + Look
IG introduced me to Korean (K-beauty) in 2019. Many K-beauty makeup looks are minimalist - bright eyes, “just bitten” lips & cheeks, & glowing skin. Very different from popular American full-glam. This look is inspired by those trends, and super easy to achieve! Primer: touch in SOL - No Poreblem Primer is no stranger to my Cherie page. I’ve raved about its smoothing effects, light texture, and t’s not too silicone-y. Brand is on the low end of the mid-range prices. $19 CC creme: erborian - CC Crème . I have “Clair”. It has SPF 25. This came as a free gift with purchase from Ulta a while ago and I only recently tried it. It dispenses white/grey and changes color once you begin to rub it in. I applied 2 thin layers to provide some coverage while still letting my skin shine through. This is so easy + quick to blend and looks natural! The caveat is that it’s not available in many shades (only 3). While it is a light coverage CC cream, this is a perfect example of how K-beauty brands in general aren’t often inclusive of darker skin tones. Brand has mid-range prices overall. 44 full size, $24 mini Eyes: Kaja - Beauty Bento Bouncy Shimmer Eyeshadow Trio in “chocolate dahlia”. This is a stacked trio. I used the middle shade “cook khaki” in my crease, “crushed pearl” (top shade) on my lid, and “brown sugar” as a soft liner on my top lashes. My eye look took me about 2 min. “Crushed pearl” is such a gorgeous, dimensional shade that brightens my eyes. I think these are a tad expensive for what they are, but I would repurchase other trios on sale. Brand is on low end of mid-range prices. $21 Blush & Lips: 3CE - Velvet Lip Tint in “going right”. I chose this item when I received some PR items from Stylevana sometime last year. I don’t love it, but thanks to doing this look I’ve found a new way to use it. I used the doe foot applicator to apply small dots to my cheeks and blended with a stippling brush. Love the effect it gives! The velvety, mousse texture gives life to my cheeks without looking flat. I am also wearing it on my lips to tie the look together. I am not a fan of it on my lips because although it glides on and feels comfortable, it immediately settles into every little lip line and breaks down quickly. Drugstore-ish prices overall. $11 Stylevana, $12 YesStyle Setting Spray: GLOW RECIPE - Watermelon Glow Ultra-Fine Mist GR is not technically a Korean brand; they are a US brand inspired by K-beauty so I included them in this post. This gives such a gorgeous luminosity to the skin + provides hydration. The mist is very fine. This is perfect for achieving the coveted K-beauty “glass skin” look on both natural skin and over makeup. It’s a bit pricey but TBH I probably will repurchase. Brand has mid-range prices. $28 Note: All brands are cruelty-free and most have vegan options. #CheriePartner

90s Makeup Pt. 2
90s Makeup Pt. 2
I had so much fun making my first look, I had to do a second! Make sure to check that one out, too. This look is much more grungy. It’s inspired by popular celeb looks with worn-in, black-rimmed eyes and dark lipstick. Products I Used & Why: Primer: touch in SOL - No Poreblem Primer Great for smoothing without feeling silicone-y. This is in my October monthly makeup basket. No other reason for choosing Foundation: ILIA - Super Serum Skin Tint SPF 40 “ST 3 Balos” and PÜR - 4-in-1 Pressed Mineral Makeup Broad Spectrum SPF 15 “porcelain”. I chose these 2 because celebs often wore lighter foundation tones (or orange, but I don’t like that look LOL). The combo of these 2 is still natural but provides medium coverage. The Pür is a bit light for me. Concealer: e.l.f. - 16HR Camo Concealer “light peach”. Celebs often wore concealer that was a little or much lighter to draw attention to their eyes. Eyes: URBAN DECAY - 24/7 Glide-on Eye Pencil “perversion”. I did a thin line on my upper lash line, then used a pencil brush (not sure of brand) to smoke it out kind of messily. Celebs’ liner looked like they’d been wearing it all day (or night) long. I then added a bit more liner at my lash’s roots to intensify the effect. For my spidery lashes I used URBAN DECAY - Lash Freak Volumizing & Lengthening Mascara . I smudged the shade “black” from the LORAC - PRO Matte Eye Shadow Palette with the same pencil brush under my eyes. Since I have hooded eyes, some of the smudged liner did transfer into my crease a bit. I think it adds to the worn-in vibe. Cheeks: KEVYN AUCOIN - The Contour & Highlighter Duo “contour” to lightly sculpt my nonexistent cheekbones and tarte - Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush in “thrilled” (nude pink) on the upper portion of my cheeks to add a hint of color to my cheeks and lift my cheekbones up. Lips: ANASTASIA Beverly Hills - ANASTASIA Beverly Hills Liquid Lipstick “heathers” for a deep ox blood red pout. Shades of red, burgundy, and brown were also very popular in the 90s to pair with this kind of look! I finished off this look with my hair in a bun to accentuate my makeup. What’s your fave 90s makeup style?! #CheriePartner

90’s Makeup Pt. 1
90’s Makeup Pt. 1
I grew up in the 90s and had fun looking back on some styles of makeup back then. This is the first of 2 looks I created inspired by the 90s. I had so much fun doing this one that I decided to do a second. Look for that one shortly! Products I Used & Why: Primer: touch in SOL - No Poreblem Primer No reasoning, I just like this primer (good for smoothing) and it was already on my vanity. Foundation: PÜR - 4-in-1 Pressed Mineral Makeup Broad Spectrum SPF 15 “porcelain”. I chose this because it’s a little bit too light for me. Looking back at the 90s, many celebs either wore foundation that was a little too orange or a little too light for their skin. Concealer: e.l.f. - 16HR Camo Concealer “light peach”. I chose this because it’s a bit too light for me. The 90s was characterized by bright under eyes to draw attention to them. I prefer ELF’s hydrating camo formula but this was my previous holy grail concealer. Eyes Blue eyeshadow is the first thing I thought of when I decided to do 90s-themed makeup. Many celebs rocked this color, though not always in the most flattering way. I used 2 single shimmer shades from the indie brand Vanessa’s Vanity. I applied #Vanessa’s Vanity - Blue Moon[products]#[FourStars] (medium blue jeans-esque) all over my lid and blended up into the crease just below my brow bone. I highlighted my brow bone and inner corners with #Vanessa’s Vanity - Colorado Sky[products]#[FourStars] (frosty very pale blue). For a spidery lash look, I used URBAN DECAY - Lash Freak Volumizing & Lengthening Mascara . This isn’t an eye look I personally love, but it was so fun & easy to create. I’m more of a “pop of blue” kind of gal. Blush: Baby pink and bright pink blushes were so popular. They’re perfect for that “youthful” flush of color. I used one of my favorites (do you see all that pan?!) - HIKARI COSMETICS - HIKARI COSMETICS Blush “cameo”. Instead of adding a light wash of color, I amped this color up and skipped bronzer and highlighter. Now if only I had a bright pink shirt to match like many celebs did! Lips: Both overlined lips and mega glossy lips were all the rage in the 90s. I personally dislike overlined lips, but ya know, I wanted to stay as true to the theme as I could. I used the HUDA BEAUTY - Lip Contour Matte Pencil in “muse” (pinky mauve darker than my natural lip color) to over line the exterior of my lips and the FENTY BEAUTY - Gloss Bomb Universal Lip Luminizer in “$weetmouth”. Supppper glossy! The only thing I’m missing from this look is pencil thin eyebrows, but I had to draw the line of commitment somewhere LOL! What’s your favorite decade(s) for makeup? #Cherie Partner
