Trending Skincare Super Ingredients
I’ll start out by telling you a bit about my skin; it’s sensitive and normal-dry depending on the season. I also have rosacea on my cheeks. I am always looking for skincare that hydrates, soothes, and doesn’t irritate my sensitive skin. I am 31 years old and have just recently started adding some anti-aging products into my routine, though I can thankfully say I don’t have many signs of aging yet🤞🏻 Today I’m going to tell you about some skincare “super ingredients” that you might have been hearing about because they have become very popular in the skincare world. Ashwaganda - ashwaganda is an ancient medicinal herb that is classified as an adaptogen, which means it can help your body manage stress. In skincare, and this YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Adaptogen Deep Moisture Cream with Ashwagandha + Reishi in particular, it is said to help reduce visible signs of fatigue. This moisturizer is targeted for people with dry, sensitive, and reactive skin. the texture of this is lovely, it’s not too heavy but feels incredibly hydrating on the skin. it has very little to no smell, which I really appreciate it definitely helps me with redness and dryness I would for sure repurchase this Niacinamide - niacinimide is an essential nutrient that can help build proteins in the skin and lock in moisture to prevent environmental damage. The CAUDALIE - Vinoperfect Radiance Serum The Brightening Solution and CAUDALIE - Vinoperfect Brightening Moisturizer with Niacinamide both contain niacinimide and claim to even the skin tone and give the skin a glowing appearance. the texture of both of these products is lightweight; the serum is a milky consistency and the moisturizer is a gel-cream. I wish that the moisturizer was a little more hydrating; I can’t really use it once the weather gets cold because it’s just not hydrating enough for me both of these products are quite strongly scented, some may find it overpowering I feel like they both make a difference in the overall appearance of my skin. They definitely help to brighten and even out my skin. I’m unsure if I would repurchase the moisturizer, but would repurchase the serum Retinol - retinol supports natural collagen production in the skin, nurtures the skin, and diminishes the look of fine lines and wrinkles. This FIRST AID BEAUTY - FAB Skin Lab Retinol Serum is said to be for beginner retinol users and for those with sensitive skin. There are different strengths of retinol and it is advised that you work your way up to a higher concentration as your skin adjusts. Retinol has a bit of a bad reputation in some ways because it is a very aggressive ingredient but when used properly, it can be extremely beneficial and effective. the texture isn’t overly thick and it sinks into the skin quickly unscented too new to my routine to say if I’d repurchase yet #CheriePartner

FAB Retinol Review I’ve been focusing more on my chest, hands, & arms this year. Not too long ago I over did with the retinol on my neck & became red, itchy & dry. My neck is more sensitive than my face and my chest tends to dry out. So I started using separate products for below the face. BEGINNER RETINOLERS - I also think this is a GREAT formula for anybody who is wanting to start using a retinol but wants to ease into it slowly. It’s a .25% which is a small amount but can start the process slowly. RESULTS - I started using first aid beauty on these areas a month ago. Within a week I noticed a beautiful polished sheen on my chest. It was glowing! I want to acclimate these areas slowly & help minimize dark spots on my arms as well. A very common conception among older people is you can always tell a persons age by looking at their hands. They are a tell tale sign. My chest had DEEP wrinkles & this significantly softened them! A++ 👌 Love this stuff! - I’ve been very impressed with this whole line. I think their formulas are beautifully made & I love several of their products. It’s a very gentle formula & I’ve had ZERO irritation! WORD TO THE WISE Do not stop at just your face! You need to be treating all areas of the skin! Wrinkles, dryness, age spots can happen below the neck. My chest was a disaster. -The formula combines Retinol and advanced Peptides, two gold standard ingredients, to help soften the look of fine lines and wrinkles and impart firmer-looking skin with a smoother texture. -The 0.25% concentration of pure Retinol in the formula is balanced with First Aid Beauty’s proprietary Skin Saver Complex to deliver the benefits of Retinol with minimal irritation. The Skin Saver Complex is comprised of Hyaluronic Acid, Vitamins C + E, Aloe, Colloidal Oatmeal, Allantoin and Ceramides that together help comfort, nourish and support skin health, alleviating the irritation often associated with Retinol-based products. -Retails for $58 ✔️ Cruelty Free brand

Acneeee check!!! I have to say shooting this in diffused natural lighting really brings my redness out 😟 to be honest I don’t remember a time when my skin was this badly broken out. I’m gonna go with the combination of holidays/global pandemic/year end/national security stress plus starting with a gentle retinoid serum (FIRST AID BEAUTY - FAB Skin Lab Retinol Serum) about a month ago as contributing factors to this breakout 👏👏👏 My last post I mentioned stocking up on some acne clearing products. I went with Tula’s foaming acne cleanser, which claims “2% salicylic acid helps clear & prevent breakouts, while azelaic acid helps fade past acne marks. Ideal for treating regular or occasional breakouts, all with zero irritation.” I also received their cult classic cleanser as a free sample (THX ULTA😘), which I’ve been using to cleanse in the morning to give my skin a chance to chill. I’ll be leaving the rest of my morning skincare routine unchanged - it’s pretty gentle and protective given the stressors I face each day. Current lineup that has been steady for almost a year now, as follows: GOOD MOLECULES - Niacinamide Brightening Toner my absolute fave hydrating toner with amazing ingredients and an incredible price point ($14!!) Mad Hippie - Vitamin C Serum My most re-purchased product ever, I’ve tried others and nothing compares ($34). Contains VitC + Konjac root, Ferulic & hyaluronic acids. I mix with Mad Hippie - Antioxidant Facial Oil when I’m feeling dry or sensitized. This combo is a powerhouse of antioxidants to keep me bright while staying protected from the abundant sunshine & pollution in my desert home. For moisturizer depending on what my day looks like I reach for my TULA SKINCARE - 24-7 Moisture Hydrating Day & Night Cream . When I’m feeling spicy sometimes I’ll go in with TATCHA - The Dewy Skin Cream and lately I’ve been reaching for my sample of the TATCHA - The Water Cream which is a happy medium. In the evenings, I double cleanse starting with TATCHA - Pure One Step Camellia Oil Cleanserthen follow with the TULA SKINCARE - Keep It Clear Acne Foam Cleanser. I also applied for the very first time two days ago LA ROCHE-POSAY - Effaclar Adapalene Gel .01% Topical Retinoid Acne Treatment ramping up my retinoid % from 0.25% to 0.1% I followed the repeated advice of applying a hydrating toner or serum before applying the gel. I noticed a significant increase in my skin sensitivity the next day, almost like I had a slight sunburn 🥵. I know to expect a purge when using retinol for the first time and I’m committed to incorporate it into my daily routine by starting slow, 2-3x week. I will post weekly skin check-ins to document my journey so give me a follow if you want to watch my skin transform! 🤩

Serums aren’t usually chosen based on skin types they are chosen based on skin goals and concerns. The serums I recommend in this post are good for any skin type so I will recommend them based on those goals/concerns you may have! ❤️Best Serum for Acne❤️ FIRST AID BEAUTY - FAB Skin Lab Retinol Serum A retinol serum is a really good option for those struggling with acne. This one is especially good if you’re wanting to target acne but also have sensitive or dry skin. 🧡Best Serum for Dryness🧡 GHOST DEMOCRACY - Floodgate Hyaluronic Acid Serum If hyaluronic acid works for you, try this one! Be careful not to overdo it with hyaluronic acid in your routine as it causes irritation for some people (including me), but this serum is good if you need extra hydration in your routine. 💛Best Serum for Dullness💛 Sweet CHEF - Ginger + Vitamin C Serum Shot I love the texture of this serum! It feels great on the skin and slightly brightens the appearance of your skin over time. I am sure there are more effective serums, but this is gentle and I recommend it. 💚Best Serum for Dark Spots💚 GOOD MOLECULES - Discoloration Correcting Serum This serum improves the appearance of acne scars, hyperpigmentation, age spots, and sun damage. It is a great product and very affordable. 💙Best Serum for Pores/Oilyness💙 The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% This serum didn’t personally work for me, but I know it has done great things for a lot of people. It helps with the appearance of pores, overproduction of oil, and acne. 💜Best Serum for Wrinkles💜 NATURIUM - Retinol Complex Serum This serum is a great anti-aging product. Retinol works for so many skin concerns, but this one especially is good for wrinkles and aging. If you have tried any of these products or have any product recommendations please let me know in the comments!

Ulta & Marshall’s Hair & Skin Haul
What’s up my bargain basement bitches? Due to my recent unprecedented BREAKOUT on my damn chin/cheek/mustache area I decided it was time to use my Adult Money ™️ to purchase some new skin ~clearing~ items. Being that I work for the government, I am absolutely the furthest from raking in that dough, so bargains are v appealing to me. I’m an Ulta shopper, not sorry. I don’t give a dern about makeup and I find that Ulta has that good good, cruelty free, clean, & affordable skin care. Also fuck that elitist Sephora energy, my local Ulta has a salon in the back that I can only imagine is the equivalent of a set of Super Cuts side bangs. Featured in this haul: Ulta TULA SKINCARE - Keep It Clear Acne Foam Cleanser($34) TULA SKINCARE - The Cult Classic Purifying Face Cleanser (free sample) LA ROCHE-POSAY - Effaclar Adapalene Gel .01% Topical Retinoid Acne Treatment($30) COSRX - Hyaluronic Acid Hydra Power Essence on sale 50% off! ($12) Marshall’s Random ass Facial Steamer ($16) “ABSOLUTEHEAT” Pro Iron Series curling wand ($20) Golden Castor Oil with eyebrow/lash brushes ($7) AQUIS - Hair Towel Waffle Luxe Moody Gray($10) I have been using FIRST AID BEAUTY - FAB Skin Lab Retinol Serumand FIRST AID BEAUTY - FAB Skin Lab Retinol Eye Cream with Triple Hyaluronic Acid which are wonderful, especially the eye cream which completely blasted the dry patch near the corner of my eye that was there for MONTHS but I felt like tapering up a bit after introducing retinol for the first time about a month and a half ago. It is also likely that the breakout on my chin/cheeks is due to the retinol serum (I currently use 2-3x wk and don’t use any actives with it except for Mad Hippie - Triple C Night Creamwhich I’m prettty sure clogs the shit out of my pores but w/e). I will post a skin check-in tomorrow & eventually review these products after I work them into my routine. So far, so good! I will say the Tula SA cleanser had a super strong tea tree fragrance which isn’t a dealbreaker for me so much as a indicator of some powerful shit. Fingers crossed this gets the pesky comedones on my chin/upper lip to dissolve 🤓. In the meantime, comment below with your favorite sheet masks to use with the face steamer! I got it for my bf mostly, as well as an extraction toolkit because he likes to take things into his own hands with his skin and I respect that- so I got him some tools that can be sterilized & keep him from poking holes his face with my stolen embroidery needles.

New to retinol? Read this.
FIRST AID BEAUTY - FAB Skin Lab Retinol Serum I started using retinol in March to get rid of some texture on my skin. After looking at many alternatives, I decided to pick this beginner percentage. I’ve heard a million horror stories about dry, red, sensitive skin and I really didn’t want that. I started by mixing this with the inkey list niacinamide (THE inkey LIST - Niacinamide Oil Control Serum ) and it was a dream. By using this once a week to start off with, and a good amount of chemical exfoliation 2–3x a week, my texture disappeared. I was so happy with the results, but by month 4 or 5, I could tell my skin just needed a higher percentage. I’ve upped myself to a 0.5% now, and am seeing great results so far! Listen to your skin, and with such a strong ingredient, it’s better to go slow!
