Review my AM routine for acne-prone skin
Review my AM routine for acne-prone skin
My current AM routine consists of a mix of products I’ve used for a long time and products I recently started using. I’m noticing improvements with the addition of the new products already, and it’s only been 4-5 days. Here’s the breakdown on each product: Cleanser: Cetaphil - Gentle Skin Cleanser In a previous post I had rated this cleanser a 5/5; however, I recently learned that this product contains several ingredients that are irritants, allergens, hormone disrupters and/or carcinogens. This has knocked my rating down. I have not experienced any negative effects using this cleanser in the past and I have been using it for over 1 year. I am considering looking for an alternative product after what I found in my research. Toner: VERSED - WEEKEND GLOW I recently started using this product and I am happy with the results so far. I am on day 5 currently and I feel like I am seeing brighter skin. I am skeptical of toners and this is the first one I have used in years. So far, so good! Acne treatment: #CVS Health - Targeted acne spot treatment 2.5 % benzoyl peroxide acne medication[products]#[FiveStars] this is a generic version of a product I’ve posted about previously. It’s perfect for spot treatment or all over use in acne-prone areas due to the lower percentage of benzoyl peroxide. This product was recommended by my current dermatologist to treat my acne. It works just as well as the name brand and is less expensive. Serum: The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% I am loving this serum so far! I’m on day 4 and I am noticing improvements in oil production and the appearance of my pores and acne marks already. It can feel a smidge sticky going on but otherwise I have zero complaints with this product! Eye Cream: OLAY - Total Effects Anti-Aging Eye Treatment Eye Transforming Cream I really like this eye cream. I feel like it always brightens up my under eye area and I have relatively few wrinkles and puffiness in the area thanks to this cream. My only complaint is that I wish it was cheaper. Moisturizer: Cetaphil - Facial Hydrating Lotion This is another product that I had rated higher in a previous post. I have been using this moisturizer for over a year and was disappointed when I found out that it contains ingredients that are allergens, irritants and/or hormone disrupters. I’ve never experienced negative effects with this product;however, I’m now considering looking for an affordable alternative. Otherwise, I have always loved this light yet ultra hydrating lotion. Lip moisturizer: Aquaphor - Lip Repair, Stick, Immediate Relief, Fragrance Free, 1 Stick I love aquaphor! It’s been keeping my lips smooth and moisturized for years. I recently switched from using the ointment to the lip stick and I’m loving it so far. Both work great at keeping my lips hydrated!

How to use: Apply a thin layer over face after you wash your face or anytime your skin is feeling dry. ~After use Benefits~ Skin feels hydrated Skin looks clean Skin feels refreshed ~My thoughts~ This lotion is really good for my skin. It leaves it feeling hydrated. I usually use the lotion after washing my face, cleansing and after I do a face mask. It instantly turns my skin from feeling dry to feeling fresh. The only downside to this lotion is that it leaves my T zone and my cheeks looking oily. For this reason I don’t use this lotion if I know I will be leaving the house and I mainly use it before bed. Even though at first it does look very oily, after a few hours when it fully absorbs into my skin it’s fine. I do recommend this product but I only recommend using it before bed or if you have a long time to let it fully absorb into your skin.

Dermatologist recommended acne regimen
Dermatologist recommended acne regimen
Since I hit puberty I have suffered from acne. After years of seeing dermatologists and trying countless prescription and over the counter treatments and products I have settled on the current regimen which keeps my skin 90-95% clear most of the time. Morning Routine Cetaphil - Gentle Skin Cleanser this cleanser has been recommended by the majority of the dermatologists I have seen over the years. It works well, cleaning without over-drying skin. Neutrogena - On-the-Spot Acne Treatment this has a lower percentage of benzoyl peroxide than most other gels and creams which is recommended if you are using other stronger acne treatments in your regimen. Over treating can irritate the skin and end up causing or worsening breakouts. Cetaphil - Facial Hydrating Lotion I love this lotion. It feels lightweight but works really well. It is noncomedogenic and contains hyluronic acid. Aquaphor - Lip Repair, Stick, Immediate Relief, Fragrance Free, 1 Stick my lips split on the sides from dryness sometimes and aquaphor has always been my go to lip treatment. I apply it in the morning and evening to keep my lips smooth and prevent splitting. Evening Routine Cetaphil - Gentle Skin Cleanser DIFFERIN - DIFFERIN Acne Treatment Gel this gel works almost as well as the prescription cream I used to use when I was younger. I wish it was less expensive but it’s worth the cost to have clear skin.

Drugstore do’s and dont’s
Drugstore do’s and dont’s
Being a teenager with acne I’ve had some experience with drugstore products. So I’m just going to be going over certain brads instead of products individually. 1. Cetaphil This brand as whole has a lot of simple skincare that will just do its job. Before my skin started to get really bad I used the face wash from here Cetaphil - Gentle Skin Cleanser and their simple moisturizer. Cetaphil - Facial Hydrating Lotion both we’re good and is good for people with sensitive skin or people just starting who just need a simple routine. And I feel like the drugstore doesn’t really have a lot of products that But I found when I started breaking this wasn’t strong enough for me but I know they do have some acne targeted skin care and I’ve heard it doesn’t dry out the skin like most products do targeted at acne. 2. Pacifica Their products aren’t really found every where but they do sell them at target so I’m just considering them as drugstore😂. I can’t say I like all their products but I have tried a couple and none of them have been life changing but they lived up to most of the claims on the bottle. My sister started using their products last summer and idk what it was but her skin cleared up so much!🤩 I have looked online at some of their other products and they have some pretty good ingredients in them. The only thing is that a couple of them have essential oils in it and some have a little fragrance in it but both were at the bottom of the ingredient list. 3. Clean and clear This whole brand is just a BIG NO. Like this brand is the ceo of damaging your skin. I have a very deep dislike for this brand not only because of the ingredients that they use and how drying they are but clean and clear is what started breaking me out super bad! It is what started my acne journey and I can’t even believe I put literally alcohol on my face everyday. And don’t even get me started on their new lemon line. Like I’m fine with lemon when it’s formulated right but I’m assuming if it’s 3$its not. Lemon juice is known to be really irritating to the skin and can cause inflammation and it can sensitize the skin and it had a very Acidic pH level. 4. Biore They are not like as bad as clean and clear but their definently not the best for your skin. Their ingredient list isn’t packed with alcohol but it still has some things that aren’t the best. I used to use their sodium cleanser and it didn’t break me out but I did really exfoliate my face because it had plastic beads in it😬. If you don’t know what physical exfoliation is it’s the most damaging kind of exfoliation and should be used once per week max. And I was using this DAILY because that’s what it says on the bottle and I didn’t know any better. Anyways but what their most popular for is their biore pore strips and not gonna lie they do work but I found it gives you a quick fix but it ended up giving be more black heads in the long run.

I’d rather get coal than this facial lotion, I got this product because I saw very good reviews of dermatologist recommending . I wanted some affordable facial lotion for the winter for my dry skin and as you can see in the package it says “extra dry skin” the product texture it’s like a cream water very watery when I use very soon I don’t feel like I used anything in my face the product it says that it absorbs quickly but well I don’t like it all , it didn’t work with me I don’t feel I’m getting my skin hydrated with thisCetaphil - Facial Hydrating Lotion

Honestly I really loved this product! However, I don’t think this product would be moisturizing enough for dry to extra dry skin like it says on the package, since it was quite watery. This did work great for my combination and acne prone skin! This helped with controlling the oils my skin naturally produces during the day. Overall I think this product would be great for combination to oily skin! (btw I got mine at Target for only $15.49!🥳)Cetaphil - Facial Hydrating Lotion
