DIFFERIN Acne Treatment Gel
What It IsDifferin Acne Treatment Gel is different! Differin is the first and only FDA-approved full prescription strength retinoid. This acne treatment is now available without a prescription. Differin Gel is dermatologist developed and tested.
RENTINOIDs: the BEST super ingredient
🌸 note: two of the products in my picture are prescription only, high grade retinoids. but i have tagged their drug store dupes that are the SAME product with a lower concentration 🌸 WHAT IS A RETINOL? in the most basic form, a retinoid is a form of VITAMIN A which encourages skin cells to break down and turn over faster, resulting in reduction of acne, wrinkles, dark spots and signs of aging. It promotes collagen production, unclogs pores, and reduces scarring. its actually thickens skin, preventing wrinkles from forming ☀️☀️ALWAYS USE AN SPF WITH RETINOIDS☀️☀️ because your skin cells are dying and regenerating so quickly, you are much more prone to sunburns. read @jensanti‘s comment below for more health cautions! they vary HIGHLY in strength (weak to strong list) - retinoid esters: The weakest version of a retinoid, but is good for sensitive skin, surface level retinol: found in a variety of products, works on the cellular level of skin - adapalene (differin): Used to be prescription only but can now be found in a low-dose age in most drug stores. penetrates deeper and slows the production of sebum with faster cell turnover - retinoic acid (Retin-A/tretinoin): works deeper in the skin, can produce overnight results in the form of dead skin peeling. Very advanced skin cell turnover, as it penetrates and stimulates cell death and production. Skin can become very sensitive, irritated , and red - isotretinoin (Accutane): essentially sebum production is very limited and skin cell turnover is dramatically increased. on ingestible medication that will make your skin peel, dry out, and really kill acne. It’s prescription only but very effective. 🌸 products i use! prescription only: ADAPALENE 0.3% dupe: DIFFERIN - DIFFERIN Acne Treatment Gel ADAPALENE is the primary form of retinol in this product. this has been my go to product for years, it makes me less sun sensitive then Retin-A 0.05%, while still giving me excellent skin cell turnover and anti aging benefits. It helped my skin go from absolute shiz to a much cleaner glowing face (see 4th pic) prescription only: RETIN-A 0.05% dupe: janssen - Retino-A 0.05% Tretinoin Cream TRETENOIN is the primary form of retinoid in this product. these two may actually be the same product, but the one that I have I know is usually prescription grade. it will make your skin peel overnight, so I use it as a spot treatment if I get any deep set nodular acne. i used this for a couple years but it made me really sun sensitive, it is very strong! luxury brand: SUNDAY RILEY - A+ High-Dose Retinol Serum RETINOL ESTER and CoQ10 are the primary forms of retinal in this product. this claims to have a 6.5% blend of stabilize retinoids and botanical retinoid alternative extracts. I think that it is incredibly overpriced for what it is. There are very similar dupes such as those from the inkey list and the ordinary

Treating Acne and Minimizing Pores
Differin Gel was my first step into retinoids and is still one of my favorites! It’s first FDA-Approved full prescription strength retinoid available without a prescription, meaning that before the only way you could get it was through a prescription written by your doctor. Pros: ➕ prevents pimples, blackheads, and clogged pores from happening ➕ treats redness ➕ treats inflammation ➕ only needs to be applied once, at night Cons: ➖ can be sensitizing until your skin adjusts ➖ can be drying ➖ may cause the skin to purge I really loved Differin when I was using it, I've since switched to a higher percentage tretinoin instead, but would continue to use Differin if I felt the need to bring the percentage down. I didn’t experience any dryness or peeling, but I used a lot of hydrating products alongside Differin. If you use any kind of retinoids you just wear SPF because they all do sensitize the skin! The larger size that retails for $29 lasted me for a very long time! I did see a reduction in acne, but not in hyperpigmentation which is why I switched to a stronger retinoid. DIFFERIN-DIFFERIN Acne Treatment Gel
Started this routine faithfully for about two weeks all together using these all together at night. I’ve been using Arbonne cleanser and night cream for years but have added the other things in too. Arbonne Cleanser- I love this anti aging cleanser for its ingredients, texture and it gets all my makeup off too. So I use this first. DIFFERIN - Daily Deep Cleanser BPO 5% I use this cleanser after my makeup is off and scrub jt around with my face scrubber pictured. I also let it sit on my skin for a couple minutes so it can soak in and work then I wash it off. insta natural - Organic Rose Water I forgot to picture this but I use this as my toner. I never notice if one toner works over the other but I always make sure to use a toner after I wash my face. De La Cruz - Sulfur Ointment, Acne Medication, Maximum Strength I honestly use this more before I do my morning routine but sometimes I do it before my nighttime routine after I cleanse my face. I leave it on for awhile to dry up my zits. Sometimes at this point I use a serum, I alternate between insta natural - Dark Spot Corrector or insta natural - Age Defying & Skin Clearing Serum or insta natural - Skin Brightening Serum, Anti-Aging or ARBONNE Renewal serum or ARBONNE Spot correcting essence..... or I do The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution Then I use my ARBONNE NIGHT CREAM. I use my DIFFERIN - DIFFERIN Acne Treatment Gel on top of my night cream so I don’t overly dry out my skin. I don’t use this retinoid the same night I use The ordinary peeling solution though. I may have a couple times but it will definitely make your skin red and hot which I don’t want to overly irritate my skin either. The Ordinary - 100% Organic Cold Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil I use this with a drop of emu oil to help lock in moisture, help my acne scarring and help heal whatever acne I do have. I noticed a slight difference using the emu oil (definitely leaves your skin so soft in the morning) but the minute I started using insta natural - Age Defying & Skin Clearing Serum whether morning or night and DIFFERIN - Daily Deep Cleanser BPO 5% DIFFERIN - DIFFERIN Acne Treatment Gel I noticed a huge difference in my acne, inflammation and texture of my skin. I hope this can help someone else like this app has helped me! It’s so nice to finally see some improvement in your skin.

2nd Week On Differin: Retinization
Daily Use and Irritation: I switched to using Differin daily during my second week. I noticed my skin was getting slightly more irritated. This irritation is known as retinization, which is normal when starting topical retinoids. My face was red, irritated, and itchy. I also started purging near my chin, but those breakouts resolved relatively quickly. The irritation peaked around the time I started daily use, but has since subsided. I was definitely expecting a worse retinization reaction, since my skin is pretty sensitive; however, the irritation wasn’t as uncomfortable as I anticipated. How I Dealt with Irritation: Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize! I don’t think it’s possible to over-moisturize your skin while using topical retinoids. I also recommend applying differin over your moisturizer to reduce any irritating effects. I was using the DRUNK ELEPHANT - Protini Polypeptide Cream, but I felt like it was too light of a consistency. I ended up running out of the Protini Polypeptide during this time, so I switched over to using DRUNK ELEPHANT - Lala Retro Whipped Cream. The Lala Retro Whipped Cream has a much richer consistency than the Protini Polypeptide, and it leaves my skin feeling super soft in the morning after PM application. I also started used the THE inkey LIST - Oat Cleansing Balmas a 10 minute face mask to help soothe and moisturize my irritated skin.

Skincare Cabinet Challenge
I am challenging anyone who reads this to post their skincare cabinet (or anywhere else you have you skincare set up) This is what I packed in my suitcase for Korea. Being in quarantine for approx 4/15 I have had plenty of time to work on my skin. Some of these I reviewed before but these are the all stars: CeraVe - Hydrating Cream-To-Foam Cleanser This has been my current go to cleanser. I have been using this day and night. It’s not as hydrating as the regular one, but that works for my combo skin. peach slices - Snail Rescue Blemish Busting Toner I actually use this with a cotton round and without to give myself that extra hydration. The Ordinary - Alpha Arbutin 2% + HA My HG for hyperpigmentation. I’ve shown my results of using this everyday my skin is almost completely even The Ordinary - Azelaic Acid Suspension 10% This is my daytime treatment for hyperpigmentation and acne. This leaves my skin so soft and smooth (probably because of the silicone) earthtoskin - Tea Time Anti Aging Eye Cream I use this during the day The best drugstore eye cream! This leaves my eyes so hydrated. It’s so smooth and the consistency is amazing. SKINCEUTICALS - A.G.E. Eye Complex for Dark Circles I use this at night. My genetic dark circles are virtually gone ! DIFFERIN - DIFFERIN Acne Treatment Gel Y’all know this my HG acne treatment. I rarely break out now thanks to this gem. I highly recommend applying this all over your face and waiting 10mins before applying anything else. PEACH & LILY - Matcha Pudding Antioxidant Cream This is my day cream, Full of antioxidants and soothing ingredients it’s leaves my skin soft. This also helps my hyperpigmentation and irritation. fresh - Lotus Anti-Aging Night Moisturizer My night cream My skin feels so amazing with this cream. It’s the perfect sealant for my nighttime treatment. It smells amazing to! GLOW RECIPE - Avocado Melt Retinol Sleeping Face Mask This is my last step in my night routine This is the perfect sealant for my moisturizer. I have seen a lot of post about slugging and a sleeping mask is perfect! Do you use any of these ??

My Process for Flawless Foundation
While I’m no makeup expert, I’ve found what makes me feel confident and beautiful. Here’s my process for achieving flawless foundation: Maintaining a healthy base is absolutely key to flawless foundation. Start off with a clean and moisturized face. Listen to your skin and watch how it reacts to products. Focus on skincare so that when you apply foundation, it’ll glide on in a breeze. If interested, I’ve described my skin routine previously for Cherie but if you’d like a spoiler, buy DIFFERIN - DIFFERIN Acne Treatment Gel After my face is prepped, I apply MAYBELLINE - Cover Stick Concealer directly onto any dark spots and redness. The green color helps to offset discoloration but it’s important to lightly blend it out afterwards so that the color isn’t too harsh and can be covered by foundation. And then comes actual foundation: You’re going to want to do research...and lots of it before you find your perfect fit. I’m not even sure if I’ve found mine, seeing that I mix two different foundations to satisfy my coverage and skin tone needs. There’s sheer, medium, and full coverage foundations so be sure to understand what you’re searching for. Look past just the labeling and what foundations claim that they’ll do. Go the extra mile and research the ingredients too. Try out different shades with specific undertones. Keep in mind that you may be a different color in the summer compared to the winter. I mixNARS - Natural Radiant Longwear Foundation and MAYBELLINE - Fit Me Matte + Poreless Liquid Foundation and have come to be satisfied with the outcome (although I’d love to only spend $$$ on one foundation). So, yes, it’s a journey and a long one that even I’m still on, but it’s one worth going on. I contour with KKW BEAUTY - Crème Contour & Highlight Sets and honestly I love these. The contour colors aren’t too light or too dark for me and glide on smoothly, perfect to blend. I use the typical beauty blender for my foundation and wet it with water as most do to prevent excess product from soaking in. Make sure to gently dab instead of just rubbing foundation in and use product conservatively. I use e.l.f. - Beautifully Bare Blending Brush to blend my highlight contour and really like it because of the brush’s precision. I can’t stress to you enough how important it is to consistently change your beauty blender and clean your makeup brushes. This goes along with protecting and maintaining skincare. I use MAC - Brush Cleanser and a brush cleansing pad that I bought from Amazon. I simply soak the cleanser onto each individual brush in a bowl, brush it over the cleansing pad, rinse it off with water, and leave the brush to air dry. It may take some time but it’s totally worth it every so often. Trust me, your skin will thank you.
