Brand Review: COSRX
As someone with problematic skin, I can’t count on one hand how many COSRX products I’ve tried before. COSRX is a brand that was established in Korea almost two decades ago in 2002. Its name comes from Cosmetics + Rx, showing how much the brand focuses on solving different skin issues. Since most of its products are fairly affordable, I’ve become a pretty huge fan over the years. Although I started using the brand as a university student in my late teens, I never stopped patronizing their products. In fact, until now I still use COSRX products especially for my acne. Here are some products I’ve tried from this Korean skincare brand! 1. COSRX - Centella Water Alcohol-Free Toner To this day, this is the toner I use when I have breakouts. It has a water like consistency and is easily absorbed into the skin. It also soothes my pimples, reducing redness and irritation. 2. COSRX - Cosrx Acne Pimple Master Patch These are actually hydrocolloid patches, the same type of product that is used on patients who are healing from surgeries. I use these when I have a pimple that is already on its way out in order to speed up the healing process and avoid acne scars. 3. COSRX - AHA/BHA Clarifying Treatment Toner This was the toner I had before switching to my current toner. It has a similar consistency to the Centella toner and I think it complemented my other AHA products nicely. 4. COSRX - Low PH Good Morning Gel Cleanser Not a fan of this cleanser at all, but I will admit that it’s not a bad product. It did manage to make my skin smooth, soft, and ready for my routine. However, I prefer cream type cleansers to gel type. 5. COSRX - Salicylic Acid Daily Gentle Cleanser This is actually my boyfriend’s cleanser, but he kept one at my place so when I used up my AM cleanser, I used this for a while. It lathers well but it’s also really drying, so get a nice moisturizer if you wanna use this product. 6. COSRX - Galactomyces 95 Tone Balancing Essence I only got this because I saw a lot of reviews hyping it online. Can’t say I noticed any considerable changes with this product. As an essence, it was rather moisturizing... and that was pretty much it. I didn’t get any breakouts or suffer from irritation though, so there’s that. 7. COSRX - Centella Blemish Cream I bought this product as spot treatment for my acne. It did work, sort of, but it was so slow that I’m not sure if it was even because of this product or if the pimples were simply at the end of their life. 😂 With a price of $20 for a 30ml tub though, I definitely didn’t think it was worth paying that much for a so-so product. I’ve been using COSRX for so long that I’m pretty sure I’m forgetting a few more products, but these are the ones I’ve tried in the last 3 years, at least. What about you? Let me know in the comments! 💋

Acids for Beginners
Review : Cosrx AHA/BHA Clarifying Treatment Toner. Skin Type : Combination Skin This is not a sponsored review, I bought the product from my own pocket. 😃 First, I would like to thank @shofon.official because this is where I buy my Korean skincare products. 🔘I have chosen to try this toner because I watched and read many positive reviews from this product and the brand itself. So let’s get to this. 🔘Packaging wise it comes with a spray type bottle which I think so convenient because you can just spray it directly to your face. And the bottle is made from a very nice plastic material which you can bring anywhere, so handy. 🔘I have been using this toner as a part of my morning routine. This is my daily acid exfoliator, the product has ingredients mainly the AHA (Alpha Hydroxy Acid) will exfoliate the outer surface of the skin and BHA (Beta Hydroxy Acid) that penetrates the inner layer of the skin unclogging pores it has also antibacterial and anti inflammatory properties which prevent the skin from getting acne, and another benefit of this is it reduces the appearance of blackheads, whiteheads and blemishes. 🔘So far this product works well for me, I never had breakouts the moment i started using this. I noticed that when I apply it to areas that I have pimple it easily dries out. It doesn’t have any smell which is very good for me. It will not make your skin dry at all and it doesn’t have any sting sensation after applying this product. This is a very gentle toner 👍 🔘I also noticed that my skin looks much more brighter, some of the pigmentation is gone. But you need to have alot of patience before you see the results. Please be sure to use SPF when using in the morning! 💵Price point - it’s affordable. Final Verdict : ✔️I am definitely continue using this amazing product and will repurchase it ✔️I am very happy and satisfied with this amazing product and I want to recommend this to all who have the same skin type as mine ✔️Great for beginners because this is mild

What to avoid if you have Hyperpigmentation
People with melanin are more prone to suffer from hyperpigmentation and there are some steps you can take to avoid it. Hyperpigmentation is caused from an overproduction of pigment and is categorized as a skin condition. Post inflammatory hyperpigmentation or PIH is very common for people with cystic acne (within the Fitzpatrick scale III to VI), and is pigmentation caused by trauma, medications, injury or inflammation. The first thing to avoid if you have hyperpigmentation is picking at your skin, as this can lead to more hyperpigmentation. When you damage the skin's DNA it causes the body to produce more melanin. Depending on the type of breakout, if the skin is inflamed there is a high probability that post inflammatory hyperpigmentation is present. Not wearing sunscreen is the second thing to avoid and is probably the thing we are all guilty of doing or worse not reapplying after being active. The UV rays lead to cellular damage and without proper protection from SPF, the UV rays can cause pigmentation to become darker. CeraVe - AM Facial Moisturizing Lotion SPF 30 The third thing to avoid is compromising the skin barrier by over exfoliation, using too many products or excessive friction on the face. The skin's barrier protects it from outside elements (dirt, debris, environmental factors) and is naturally slightly acidic. Over exfoliation from the overuse of acids, causing the skin to be irritated, inflamed, and more sensitive to touch. When the skin's barrier is compromised it is more prone to inflammation which can cause pigmented areas to become darker. COSRX - AHA/BHA Clarifying Treatment Toner Finally, avoid using too many products in your daily skin care routine. When using too many exfoliation products, you risk damaging your skin's natural barrier resulting in more pigmentation than you already started with. Another common cause of excessive friction is vigorous cleansing and using a gritty facial scrub containing abrasive materials. It is tempting to add more products into your daily routine, thinking they will all help to eliminate hyperpigmentation. Instead be cautious of quick fixes as they can do more damage than good.

COSRX vs Miracle AHA/BHA toner
Ever since I started using these timers to exfoliate my skin, I do notice improvements. Improvements in helping my overall complexion, and my scars from the pimples that grows on my skin. COSRX - AHA/BHA Clarifying Treatment Toner This product did not do much for my skin. I’ve been using this for several month and see no difference. It just felt like I’m spraying water onto my face. I’m disappointed in this toner. I would maybe recommend this for people who are barely starting to try out chemical toners to exfoliate. Overall it is not for me. SOME BY MI - AHA BHA PHA 30 Days Miracle Toner I’ve seen this toner everywhere on social media. I’ve seen a lot of positive reviews, and I was in need of a good toner anyways. So I decided to buy this toner and tried it for several days. I kid you not I noticed that my pores have shrunk. I enjoy the fresh smell of mint. I applied this with a cotton pads and wipe it all over my face. Right after I finish my shower, I instantly apply this on my cleaned face. After I applied this toner on my face and apply the rest of my skincare it felt good. The only reason why I gave this toner a 4/5 is because I haven’t used it enough to really give a solid 5. I’ll do an update reviews once I use it for at least a month or more. Overall it is a good toner.

The result to an effective skin care routine!
A year ago, I started being lazy and was not following my skin care routine. To give a little background about me, I’m a nurse who does shift work, so on days where I come off from a night shift, I would shower and only rinsed my face with water without using a cleanser. I then would apply my night cream and go to sleep. Fast forward, I started developing this tiny little bumps all over my face, occasional break out, hyperpigmentation and uneven texture. I would exfoliate at times but became inconsistent with it so It didn’t really clear up my skin. Back in March of this year, I became more frustrated as it was taking longer for me to clear up my skin and these tiny little bumps kept coming back (no they were not fungal acne as they were bigger in size and reddened)so I decided to change up my skin care products and made up a routine similar to the ones I see on my social media platform. SKIN TYPE Normal- Dry Combination Skin, Sensitive Morning Routine - Gentle Cleanser CeraVe - Hydrating Face Cleanser For Normal To Dry Skin - Vit C pura d'or - 20% Vitamin C Serum - Niacinamide The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% - HA depending on my mood. I use different kinds . HADALABO - Gokujyun Premium Lotion or COSRX - Hyaluronic Acid Hydra Power Essence - Moisturizer if I feel like my face needs extra hydration otherwise I would skip this part CeraVe - Moisturizing Cream For Normal To Dry Skin or LA ROCHE-POSAY - Lipikar Balm AP + Body Cream - SUNSCREEN!! LA ROCHE-POSAY - Anthelios 50 Mineral Ultra Light Sunscreen Fluid SPF 50 or LA ROCHE-POSAY - Toleriane Double Repair Face Moisturizer UV SPF 30 NIGHT ROUTINE - Double Cleanse heimish - Heimish All Clean Balm or The Ordinary - Squalane Cleanser followed by CeraVe - Hydrating Face Cleanser For Normal To Dry Skin - Toner COSRX - AHA/BHA Clarifying Treatment Toner or PAULA'S CHOICE - Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliator - If I am not using any of the toners mentioned above, then I would use this The Ordinary - Lactic Acid 10% + HA On the nights I use retinol, I don’t use any chemical exfoliants at all PAULA'S CHOICE - Clinical 1% Retinol Treatment, 30ml - Moisturizer CeraVe - Moisturizing Cream For Normal To Dry Skin -Facial Oil The Ordinary - 100% Plant-Derived Squalane or DERMA•E - Rejuvenating Sage & Lavender Face Oil This was my routine for 4 months. And now of course I’ve changed up few things in my routine. All of these products helped cleared up my skin issues. As you can see, my face is looking much better!!

My Mental Wellness Improved Through My Self AcceptanceWhen I was around 13 or 14 years old, I remember routinely taking one of my older sister’s black eyeliner pencils before school every morning. I’d arrive early so that I could slip away to the girl’s bathroom to apply a single black line to my eyelids. My parents didn’t allow me to wear any makeup at the time. Although this smudgy line on my eyelids didn’t make me look all that much different, I never felt comfortable at school without it. My teenage mind convinced myself that I needed some sort of cosmetic symbol in order to appropriately express my femininity. Up until that point in my life, society had told girls that looked like me - tall, Black, and with kinky hair - that we somehow weren’t as beautiful as the other girls. For far too long, I believed it too.Feb. 17
