Best Acne Treatment!
Best Acne Treatment!
I have very acne prone skin and I frequently struggle to get it under control. This is by far the most effective treatment I have ever used for active acne spots. CLINIQUE - Acne Solutions Clinical Clearing Gel If I could only use one acne treatment for the rest of my life it would be this one! It contains salicylic acid to clear blemishes and can be used as a spot treatment or, if you have acne covering a larger area, you can use a thin layer all over your face. It does have some ingredients that can cause your skin to be dry or irritated if it is over used, but it wouldn’t be an acne treatment without them and it shouldn’t cause any issues if you only use it on acne spots. I’ve seriously never had an issue with this. If you have tried this product or have any recommendations please let me know in the comments!

Clinique Acne Products That Are Worth Buying!
Clinique Acne Products That Are Worth Buying!
Part 3 of my skincare routine posts! This one is all about the Clinique products I use. I’m fully convinced these products have stopped/limited any acne. ✨CLINIQUE - Acne Solutions Clarifying Lotion - I use this in both my morning and night routine after cleansing (check out previous post for my cleansers). It’s so nice and doesn’t irritate my skin at all! I believe this is in combo with my other products is helping lighten acne scars too. All I do is shake the bottle to mix the product, then apply to a cotton ball or pad and wipe on the face. I focus this more on areas where my acne usually pops up. Side note: I recently bought reusable cotton pads and this works great with them! ✨CLINIQUE - Acne Solutions Clinical Clearing Gel - I also use this product for both day and night routines. I apply it after the clarifying lotion and usually let it sit for a few minutes before doing my next steps. I LOVE this stuff. It can be thinly applied on the whole face or just target certain areas (which is what I do). A little goes a long way so I only need 1-2 drops of this. The formula is strong and works great without bothering my skin or making it incredibly dry. It’s a bit pricey for the size, but trust me it’s worth it (and it lasts longer than you think!). For me personally, I found this works better than any benzoyl peroxide product. ✨CLINIQUE - Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel - My skin is combo but it’s highly dependent on the season too. Winter I’m more dry, summer I’m more oily. This moisturizer is definitely a fav, perfect for summer! It soaks in and doesn’t sit on the face, so I’m not left with any oily residue. I use this only in the morning as I prefer a thicker, richer cream for night. Right now it’s winter here so I do have to use my old favorite Neutrogena - Neutrogena Hydroboost Water Gel Moisturizer for certain super dry areas on my face (nose and sides of mouth), then I go over my whole face with the Clinique gel. **I highly recommend looking into their complete moisturizer line, they have so many ways to customize for your skin type.** Overall I recommend all these Clinique products! It’s a great brand that can cater to so many skin types.

Review of Clinique’s clearing gel
Review of Clinique’s clearing gel
I’ve decided to do a multi-part post where I review and breakdown the products in my everyday skincare routine (see first post for routine). This is Part 1! The spot treatment I’ve been using is CLINIQUE - Acne Solutions Clinical Clearing Gel This has been a true game changer, especially with my hormonal acne. I bought this through Ulta when they had a special sale on Clinique products. I will admit when I purchased this I didn’t look at the size. It’s SMALL, like fits in my palm, mini, little bottle and it’s not necessarily cheap. But since I got it on “sale” I decided to still try it. I actually love the formulation and don’t mind the small packaging now (super easily to travel with!!), you also only need a very small amount. It’s a clear gel liquid that dries fast. I apply it only to problem areas (cheeks, jaw, upper forehead)/any new arising acne. I apply this after cleansing and use it in my my morning and night routine. It has a mild tingly/tight sensation when the skin is first soaking it in, but it isn’t uncomfortable at all. There’s a slight shine left on the skin after soaking in, but I apply my serums and moisturizer after this so it goes away. Since using this in addition to my usual routine my breakouts are super minimal and can be quickly and easily stopped in their tracks. I was getting terrible hormonal acne on my cheeks and jaw but I haven’t since using this! I 100% recommend to anyone looking for a better spot treatment. It’s well worth it! **Previously I used MARIO BADESCU - Mario Badescu Drying Lotion this stuff worked ok at first but I’d have to apply it every night and it would get on my pillow and really dry out my skin/make me itchy. Eventually I felt it was only drying my skin out and no longer providing any benefits.

Finally creating an actual skincare routine
Finally creating an actual skincare routine
I’m somewhat new to skincare. For the longest time I had the clearest skin but after college I started to get hormonal acne and some skin texture issues. Morning: Cleanser- LA ROCHE-POSAY - Effaclar Medicated Gel Cleanser for Acne Prone Skin. I just got it a few days ago and so far I like it! Prior to this I was using Neutrogena - Ultra Gentle Daily Cleanser (which I still keep in my shower for after working out-this cleans my skin well but isn’t anything crazy special) Next: CLINIQUE - Acne Solutions Clarifying Lotion - I really like this!! It’s absorbs quick and isn’t drying, often these types of products make my skin a little itchy but not this one! (I still use PAULA'S CHOICE - Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliator but I do this every other day in the evening, it makes my skin very sensitive but it does work well) Spot Treatment: CLINIQUE - Acne Solutions Clinical Clearing Gel - I’ve been using this for 2 weeks and I love it!! I notice a difference in any new breakouts, it stops them right in their tracks. Feels great too and soaks in nicely. Serums: The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% - trusty product that I will always use. I’m now adding in bareMinerals - Skinlongevity Long Life Herb Serumto help with my skin appearance and fine lines (~2 weeks of use and so far I like it, it’s hydrating and soaks into the skin. There’s a light scent that I don’t mind either) Moisturizer: CLINIQUE - Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion+- using for 2 weeks and I really it! It’s gel based so it’s absorbs right into the skin. I don’t like heavy moisturizers because they make me oily, so this one is great! Keeps my skin happy even in the colder weather! Nighttime: Same cleanser as morning Same clarifying lotion/exfoliate as mentioned in morning, and same spot treatment Moisturizer: NEW unreleased bareMinerals Ageless Phyto-Retinol Face Cream. I got a full size product for free during a featured event, I believe this will retail for around $62 and be released in the new year. I’ve been using it for 2 weeks and my skin seems to be liking it! It’s a thicker cream so I prefer it only at night. There is a somewhat strong perfume-like scent which I don’t normally mind, but if I use my PAULA'S CHOICE - Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliator prior to the cream, it does make my skin a little tingly/itchy. I like that it’s a plant based “retinol” and is less harsh on the skin. Hoping this one works out! Other products: The Ordinary - Retinol 0.5% in Squalane- Bought this prior to getting the bareMinerals Phyto-Retinol Cream. I haven’t tried it yet so no review. Not sure where to add this to my routine if/when I decide to use it. Mad Hippie - Vitamin C Serum- I got this before my breakouts but haven’t used it since, might try to add

Here’s my skincare routine right now: CeraVe - SA Smoothing Cleanser The Ordinary - Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution THE inkey LIST - 15% Vitamin C and EGF CLINIQUE - Acne Solutions Clinical Clearing Gel The Ordinary - Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA SUNPLAY - Skin aqua UV moisture milk (I have the blue one) If you have any questions about the products let me know!

Trending: spot treatments ✨
Trending: spot treatments ✨
With maskne being a common occurrence lately I’ve seen an increase in demand for spot treatments. What used to be just for acne prone individuals is now popular for most individuals. A spot treatment is usually a topical cream or gel that is used to treatment blemishes. Typically these contain salicylic acid, benzoyl peroxide, or sulfur. My holy grail spot treatment is the CLINIQUE - Acne Solutions Clinical Clearing Gel . This is a gel formula contain 1.5% salicylic acid. Salicylic acid goes into the pores to clean out any dirt, debris, or sebum blocking it. It also helps to reduce pimple size and inflammation within a few hours. This gel absorbs so easily into the skin so a little goes a very long way. It comes in two sizes (.5 oz and 1 oz) which I have the bigger one and it was $27.50. This tube easily lasts me all year. I had a really bad bout of chin acne two years ago and this was the only thing that helped. A new product to me is the VERSED - Game Over Acne Drying Treatment . This is a cream formulation with 10% sulfur. Sulfur helps dry out the blemish and absorb excess sebum. It helps fight bacteria in the pores while removing dead skin cells. It only comes in one size (.5 oz) and retails for $16.99. It also is made out of 79% post consumer recycled plastic. This cream formulation dries down on the blemish which makes it easy to night time use. I’m a side sleeper and a lot of dry down acne products wipe right off. It’s definitely helped with some acne spots but it’s not as good as the Clinique. Lastly, I’ve used the MARIO BADESCU - Mario Badescu Drying Lotion in the past and despite it being a cult product I don’t like it. It’s a calamine lotion suspended in an alcohol formula (it also contains salicylic acid and sulfur). The alcohol smells so strong and stings the skin. It dries out the blemish but alcohol is so stripping to the skin it has potential to increase inflammation which also can lead to hyperpigmentation. It does dry down but as I sleep it wipes right off my face. This is a brand I tend to avoid all together.
