What is RETINOL? Retinol is pure vitamin A. Along with a bunch of other vitamin-A derivatives starting with the letter R, retinol is an example of a retinoid — that's the catchall term for these A-based formulas, both the over-the-counter (OTC) and prescription varieties. Prescription Retin-A and Tretinoin and over the counter retinols increase skin cell turnover and stimulate collagen synthesis. While an OTC retinol (0.5%-2% concentration) isn't quite as effective or speedy as prescription-strength, it's less likely to cause irritation, redness, and peeling so better for anyone with sensitive or drier skin. But, still be caution, with any retinoid you have to practice restraint, applying a pea-size drop only one or two nights a week until skin acclimates, and buffering that dose with a squirt of anti-inflammatory serum or lotion.  With consistent use of a topical retinol or Retin-A you can see improvement of fine lines, dark spots, texture, and tone. Speaking from my experience, I've never used a high-end retinol product, but I did find some retinol product dupes to give a try. CeraVe - Skin Renewing Retinol Cream Serum It has a light serum texture, but as you rub it in, it feels a bit thicker and creamier and even turns a bit white. It has no smell and dries pretty quickly in about 10 seconds. It leaves the skin feeling baby soft and hydrated which I really like. I use it with the CeraVe vitamin c serum and their skin renewing night cream. My skin is brighter and even toned than it used to be. I'm sure this will continue to get better as I continue to use. Will continue to use this line of products! OLAY - Regenerist Retinol24 Night Moisturizer For me personally, I noticed that my skin’s texture was smoother and brighter overall. I don’t necessarily struggle with a lot of breakouts, but my skin’s texture is still one of my major concerns. I love that these products helped me feel more confident without makeup because my skin was so much more even! Hands down, the moisturizer was my favorite product of them all. Now that the temperatures are dropping, my skin has become thirsty and dry. This moisturizer gave my skin all of the extra hydration it needed, while also adding a little extra glow. I also love that the moisturizer, as well as the other Retinol24 products, are fragrance free. This just gives me a little more peace of mind about using them! Here I Find Some Tips on How to Use Retinol for Best Results ● First one to two weeks: Apply just two nights in the evenings each week. ● Next two weeks: Apply it every 2nd night. ● After 4 to 6 weeks of use: You should have a good idea of how your skin is tolerating it. If it’s tolerating well, increase usage to nightly application. ● After 8 to 12 weeks: Once skin’s tolerance is built up after about 8 to 12 weeks, it is fairly easy to use nightly. Decrease usage anytime you need to. Sharing is caring. 💕

A Cocktail of Retinol And Peptides For A Plump, More Youthful, Acne-Free Skin
A Cocktail of Retinol And Peptides For A Plump, More Youthful, Acne-Free Skin
Retinol is such a star ingredient as it slows down the natural aging process of our skin, it brightens dull skin, it’s amazing in treating acne, and it helps in the treatment of hyperpigmentation. No wonder why we’ve been seeing tons of skincare products being formulated with retinol in them.   Since retinol is fantastic in helping our cells regenerate to maintain that youthful glow, I thought how amazing would that be if it’s paired with other ingredients that also assist in building collagen and elastin. If you’re not aware, collagen and elastin are two protein types that make our skin plump and hydrated. By the time we hit our mid 30s, our bodies start to slow down the process of developing these.   Upon reading through Paula’s Choice website, I learned that peptides aren’t enough if we want to achieve smoother, softer, more even skin texture. So, I paired it with retinol. And as expected, my dry combination skin loves it.   The products I use are Cerave skin renewing retinol serum as it’s really gentle to my sensitive skin, followed by this firming sleeping mask from Laneige, which is rich in peptides. The Laneige sleeping mask is a good moisture-locking product to layer in on top of the retinol serum. Try it for yourself! CeraVe - Skin Renewing Retinol Cream SerumLANEIGE - Time Freeze Sleeping Mask

Expensive=Effective⁉ For The 2 Retinol Serums, My Answer Is...
I have combo-oily skin. Anti-aging and reducing acne are two of my biggest focuses for skincare. After doing some research, Retinol is exactly what I am looking for! It can reach the inner skin layer to fight with acne and it is a powerful anti-aging ingredient.  I first tried CeraVe - Skin Renewing Retinol Cream Serum Because it's famous for having great effects at an affordable price-$18.49 for 30ml. Sounds great right? However, I don't like how it feels on my face. It is very greasy, and it cases pilling on my face. At the same time, my acne did not get any better. Although it is not expensive, it is very disappointing. So I later bought CHANTECAILLE - Retinol Intense+. This is definitely more expensive-$140.00 for 50ml. But!!!! It works surprisingly well! My acnes got controlled soon. And I can see that my skin has changed not just on the surface, but deeper in the root. It is not that irritating as Cereva. It feels so amazing! I noticed that it also added niacinamide and plant extract into the product. But Retinol is different from hydrating serum, Retinol hurts! So you have to make sure you are doing the basic hydration correctly to protect your skin. After using Chantecaille for a couple of weeks, I can see the changes on my face. My acne scars got reduced, and the pimples got flatten. My face looks cleaner than it used to be. I used to put a lot of concealers and use think foundations. Now I can use lighter ones! I am so happy to see this change. Chantecaille makes my skin smooth, and it can help anti-aging. I can't tell you how much I like it!

Part 2 💖💖I've tried 5⃣ hyped RETINOL products and here is my personal ranking...
As I have mentioned in my last post-I have combo-oily skin and I am looking for retinol products that help clear up my acne and blemishes, and give my skin a healthy glow. I'll review 5 hyped retinol products in 3 posts. 💓💓💓 My personal ranking first: 1⃣PETER THOMAS ROTH 2⃣Paula's Choice 3⃣CeraVe 4⃣The Ordinary 5⃣Algenist In this post, I'll review Paul's Choice and CeraVe. You can check PETER THOMAS ROTH on my last post. PAULA'S CHOICE - Clinical 1% Retinol Treatment, 30ml- $53.00 for 30ml It is a yellowish paste with a thick texture which makes it quite difficult to be absorbed quickly, especially for combination-oily skin. The good thing is that it doesn't cause acne breakouts and you can actually see some improvement during just a week.  The concentration of retinol - 1% is quite high on the market.  Other ingredients in this retinol cream include peptides for anti-aging and anti-oxidative vitamin C for whitening. Overall, it is a very practical product from a well-established brand. Nowadays, retinol is mostly added in essential oils, and can hardly be seen in creams anymore. I gave it 4/5 for the effect but take 1 star off for the texture. CeraVe - Skin Renewing Retinol Cream Serum-$18.49 for 30ml CeraVe's retinol serum has very similar texture to Paula's Choice retinol treatment. Although it's a thick paste, it's actually absorbed very easily.  However, the retinol concentration in this serum is definitely very low as it's even listed behind alcohol on the ingredients list. 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️ Other ingredients include ceramide (for anti-wrinkle effects and keeping in moisture) and nicotinamide (for restoring and whitening), among others. Although the ingredients are great, their concentration is actually very low.  This product is REALLY cheap and CeraVe also has exclusive MVE technology which enables the active ingredients to be fully absorbed. I would DEF recommend it to those new to retinol and it's a good one to help build up skin tolerance.  If you have any suggestions or questions please hmu 🥰

MY SKIN IS SO SMOOTH !!
MY SKIN IS SO SMOOTH !!
A dermatologist recommended to use Vitamin C and Retinol when in our 20s, so I started to use CeraVe - Resurfacing Retinol Serum I’ve been using it for 6 months. I use it at night because its when I don’t touch my face. One pump is enough for the neck and face. DON’T FORGET YOUR NECK! can be combined with Niacinamide The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% it says RESURFACING, so it’s the for the correction of your skin texture. It’s different from CeraVe - Skin Renewing Retinol Cream Serumwhich is for more mature skin. I will try this one next though. it helps with acne too it’s a smooth texture and a gel-like substance. You don’t need too much retinol. Little goes a long way. YOU CAN USE ON YOUR EYES!! I really recommend this product. It’s not expensive like other prestige products, but it does it’s job. You won’t loose anything if you try it. 😌

Be sure to have an understanding of how retinol works📖
Be sure to have an understanding of how retinol works📖
I have quite sensitive skin, especially my neck skin. I've been using Retin-A on my face for a while, but my neck never quite adjusted to it. I saw a great improvement in the neck area after switching to this Anti-Aging Serum. I’ve been using it for a few days (once per day) and still no irritation from the retinol.  I'm 21 so my anti-aging product use is from a preventative angle. I was naive about retinol and I started using this 2 times daily as I did with my previous serum. Big mistake! My skin freaked out, had a bumpy texture and dryness. But I did my research and learned that retinol users typically experience an adaptation period. I decreased my use to once every other day before bed and quickly acclimated.  The way I apply this is I first wash my face, then I put on moisturizer. I put this retinol product on top of moisturizer (Cerave moisturizing cream). CeraVe - Skin Renewing Retinol Cream SerumA YouTuber suggested this method. She says that the retinol gets to the skin even though it is on top of moisturizer. I have noticed the dark spot that I’ve had for many years is getting faded.  I always use this before I moisturize, sometimes I add this product and my moisturizer together. If you want to use it in your daytime skincare routine, you'd better use it with some SPF products. Apply cream serum after cleansing and then finishing off with a moisturizer with SPF for daytime use. Retinol can cause sun sensitivity, so we recommend using AM Moisturizing Lotion with SPF 30.  The ingredients in this serum (it's more of a lotion) are top-notch and quite gentle. Absorbs quickly without pulling at the skin under and around eyes. It does go on the kind of interesting- it's a light yellow serum that when spread on the skin turns into a white cream- but it does absorb fully into my skin. I am really liking this serum. I have not had any flaking or redness due to the retinol but yet I know it's working because I've noticed changes to the texture of my skin. It keeps my fine lines and wrinkles from being so obvious.  I'm glad I didn't give up on it and educated myself about the nature of retinol instead. This product is great and is very reasonably priced. Recommend!
