MY CURLS. UNVEILED.
MY CURLS. UNVEILED.
Story time. I straightened my hair from age 12 to 26. Wore it in a bun from 26 to 27ish. Cut the dead ends then finally got my natural curl back. I say that I have 3a/3b curls but if you think otherwise tell me in the comments bc I really don’t even know haha. I literally just ask people who have similar curls to mine what they use (esp pros like @hairinel on IG — she’s helped me A LOT...we gotta get sis on this app!). I’ve had many trials errors tribulations about what to do with these curls. But I’ve kind of found a decent routine for my low maintenance ass self. So I thought I’d share. Wash day: - shampoo with Briogeo - Scalp Revival Charcoal + Coconut Oil Micro-exfoliating Scalp Scrub Shampoo - condition with Briogeo - Don't Despair, Repair! Deep Conditioning Hair Mask WHILE STILL IN THE SHOWER I use... - spray primer all over then comb through w a wide toothed combBumble and bumble. - Hairdresser's Invisible Oil Heat/UV Protective Primer - section hair and apply Ouidad - Advanced Climate Control Featherlight Styling Cream - comb through w denman brush section by section - apply to the ends and front Ouidad - Vitalcurl+ Tress Effect Styling Gel After showering - scrunch excess out with AQUIS - Hair Turban Waffle Luxe Moody Gray - blow dry on LOW heat LOW air with dyson - Supersonic Hair Dryer Limited Edition Copper Gift Set - once dry add a bit of shine with Ouidad - Revive & Shine Rejuvenating Dry Oil Mist - fluff w oil on my hands then try and pray to the gods that I don’t touch it for the rest of the day (this never works) In this vid these are day 2 curls. I usually just clip it in a loose bun with my CHUNKS clips before going to bed (I don’t wrap it — don’t @ me) then shake it loose in the AM and add a lil OUAI - OUAI Hair Oil for the frizz and see what happens. Sometimes it comes out cute like this other times I look like hot garbage but whattreya gonna do 🤷🏽‍♀️??? I’ve also tried a ton of other products but this is my usual go-to on the reg. This post is dedicated to @annkrishaand @ambersymone😉

As someone always on the hunt
As someone always on the hunt for products that cleanse and soothe the scalp, the BRIOGEO Scalp Revival Charcoal + Coconut Oil Micro-exfoliating Shampoo has been on my wishlist for awhile! Well let me tell you…it does not disappoint!! This unique, charcoal- and coconut oil-infused scalp shampoo detoxifies, exfoliates, soothes, and balances the scalp for optimal scalp health. It infuses binchotan charcoal to draw impurities from the scalp and hair follicle, providing the foundation for optimal scalp health. Vegetable-derived micro-exfoliators remove dead skin cells and product buildup to support a clean, balanced, and healthy scalp, as a cooling blend of peppermint and spearmint oils reduces scalp itchiness. Tea tree oil features anti-septic and healing properties to reduce scalp irritation, while coconut oil delivers superior moisturization to the scalp to combat and prevent dryness and flakiness. Super-vitamin panthenol provides essential nutrients to strengthen the hair roots and shaft. Now let me start by saying that this is a scalp treatment and not meant for the ends of your hair! It deep cleanses and removes product buildup but massages in beautifully and leaves the scalp feeling nice and hydrated. It has a really refreshing feel and scent, but it isn't too much! I have lots of hair and working this into my scalp takes a bit of massaging but it works so well it’s worth the effort because it leaves the scalp and your hair feeling fabulous!! I don’t love that it’s in a tub (hence the 4 stars) and it is a bit pricey at $42 for 8 oz but if you do have scalp issues this is definitely worth a try! ⁣🧖‍♀️ Let’s talk 𝐒𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐩 𝐓𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬! 🧖‍♀️⁣ ⁣ What are these products? This is Briogeo - Scalp Revival Charcoal + Coconut Oil Micro-exfoliating Scalp Scrub Shampooand Briogeo - Scalp Revival Stimulating Therapy Massager The shampoo: “This unique shampoo infuses Binchotan charcoal to draw impurities from the scalp and hair follicle to provide the foundation for optimal scalp health. I love the minty smell from the peppermint & spearmint, and using this is just a joy for all the senses (well...maybe not taste 😜). I love lightly scrubbing it into my scalp and then using the scalp massager for that extra oomph. This combo has been a huge help for my extra dry/flaky scalp that came with the cold weather. I will definitely repurchase!⁣ ⁣ *𝐀 𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐜𝐤 𝐛𝐮𝐭 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐧𝐨𝐭𝐞: Briogeo is a Black woman-owned business, which is something I’m thrilled to highlight. But I’m not only highlighting it because it’s February. Black-owned businesses need our support the other 11 months of the year as well. Keep this in mind - only promoting and posting about Black-owned brands in February does a disservice to everyone. Please remember to support no matter what the calendar says!!

Hair Care Essentials!
Hair Care Essentials!
Hi Everyone! So I wanted to make a post on my hair care routine on the days that I do wash my hair because it has helped my hair so much as opposed to my old routine which was the customized shampoo and conditioner that either dried out my hair or my scalp or both. This is such an important time of the year to make sure our hair gets all the right care it needs because the air is so dry. So... let’s begin! First, before I get into the shower I use my Wet brush - Original Detangler to get out all the loose hairs so I don’t have as much of an issue in the shower. Next, in the shower I rinse my hair with just water and then start my shampoo process. I use a few finger globs of the Briogeo - Scalp Revival Charcoal + Coconut Oil Micro-exfoliating Scalp Scrub Shampoo and rub it in with my fingers first. Then before I rinse it out I use the Briogeo - Scalp Revival Stimulating Therapy Massager to better massage it in my hair. I love it because it really gets the shampoo into my scalp and the shampoo foams so nicely and feels wonderful in my hair. After the shampoo and massager, I rinse it out and next I use the Briogeo - Scalp Revival Charcoal + Peppermint Oil Cooling Jelly Conditioner which is great with everything combined but the one downside is it doesn’t feel like it’s actually conditioning my hair. You really have to brush it with a comb in the shower in order to spread it all through your hair. But hey, it does the job. Rub that in for about a minute and rinse out. When I get out of the shower, I use (second picture) this microfiber hair towel to soak up all the water fast. I couldn’t find it as a product on this site but I got it on amazon for cheap and it does wonders to the drying process of my hair. I would say it’s just as good as the fancier hair towels. Once my hair gets a little dryer but still damp, I part my hair so my scalp is shower in the areas I get dandruff the most and add a few drops of the Briogeo - Scalp Revival Charcoal + Tea Tree Scalp Treatment Serum right onto the skin and massage it in with my fingers. Next I spray the dpHUE - Apple Cider Vinegar Leave-in Hair Therapy onto my hair generously and brush it through again with my wet brush. After that’s all said and done, I put my hair into a braid and let it air dry. Right now it’s in the process of drying but later I will add the final look to the post. I’m very excited about this new hair care routine and I think it’s doing wonders to my hair and scalp! ✨

Treat ur oily scalp! Christophe Robin or Briogeo
Treat ur oily scalp! Christophe Robin or Briogeo
I have an oily scalp, which annoying me for a while. I have two scalp treatments to share with you gals that are aiming at the oily scalp. Let's see which one truly works on my scalp problem. Christophe Robin Purifying Scalp Scrub with Sea Salt $53 / 246ml My sales recommend me Christophe Robin Scalp Scrub to save my oily scalp. This item is really popular. So, I decided to give a try. It is a scalp exfoliator and shampoo that claims to clean and soothes sensitive/ oily scalps. The ingredient contains sea salt that could remove scalp residue. It also comes with sweet almond oil to provide hydration and soothing for the scalp. The texture of it is very creamy and heavy, but easy to get rich foam. It cleans my scalp thoroughly that makes my scalp feel so clean and nice. It does have soothing benefits as it claims. BTW, the smell is really nice too, fresh and clean. I use it twice a week instead of shampoo. It saved my oily scalp. Briogeo Scalp Revival Charcoal + Coconut Oil Micro-exfoliation Shampoo $43 / 236ml I bought this one a few months earlier than the Christopher Robin one. I bought it because it's clean beauty and has quite a few positive feedbacks. It aims at solving the same problem. The key benefits of this Shampoo are to detoxifies and removes buildup, hydrates the scalp, and soothes itchy/flaky scalp. For my experience, I felt it clean my scalp well and smells very refreshing. It feels very calming and cooling on the scalp. The charcoal ingredient also does a great job on detoxifying my scalp. The coconut oil prevents the scalp from dryness. I use this product once every 1-2 weeks. Both of them work well on my oily scalp. But I love Christopher Robin better, as the smell of it is nice, and it cleanses my scalp more thoroughly. You can see in the picture I post, I'm almost finishing it. It's a bit pricy than Briogeo ($10 more). I think the Briogeo product is more suitable for a very sensitive scalp. You could make a decision by your own preference.

THIS vs THAT: Scalp Scrub Edition
THIS vs THAT: Scalp Scrub Edition
Today I’m going to be comparing two of the most popular scalp scrubs out there: 🔹Christophe Robin - Cleansing Purifying Scrub With Sea Salt 🔸Briogeo - Scalp Revival Charcoal + Coconut Oil Micro-exfoliating Scalp Scrub Shampoo I first tried a travel size of the briogeo scrub from my Sephora bday gift last year and have since used another travel size and repurchased the full size. I picked up the CR scrub and have been using for about a month and a half now. I only do a scalp scrub 1x per week max in place of shampoo so it takes me a while to get through these products making them well worth the price. Here’s a few notes on each one: SCENT 🔹clean, herby scent that reminds me of being at an aveda hair salon 🔸Girl Scout thin-mint cookies...I saw this description from several people and didn’t believe it but it is spot on Overall, I like the Christophe Robin scrub more for its scent. Both these scrubs contain added fragrance which hasn’t bothered me but is something to note if you’re extra sensitive. 🔹 TEXTURE 🔹thick creamy base with chunky salt that can be difficult to spread all over the scalp 🔸thinner base with well incorporated, small plant grains that’s easy to use and gently scrubs For me, the Briogeo scrub feels gentler and easier to use. The granules are evenly distributed and gentler on my scalp 🔸 KEY INGREDIENTS 🔹sea salt to exfoliate, almond oil to hydrate and soothe 🔸charcoal to detox, coconut oil to hydrate, peppermint + tea tree to soothe RESULTS 🔹this scrub foams up a ton, though I do have trouble sometimes breaking up the big salt chunks in the scrub. This leaves my scalp feeling VERY clean - almost too clean, which is probably a result of the SLS as the second ingredient. I have noticed my scalp is a little irritated if I use this too often but for occasional use (~every 10 days) or to really beat back buildup I do like it 🔸the small plant particles very gently exfoliate the scalp and this scrub lathers well. My scalp and roots feel very nourished after using this and clean but never stripped I prefer the way my scalp feels after using the Briogeo scrub I prefer the results I get with the Briogeo scrub 🔸 COST 🔹$42 for 8oz 🔸$53 for 8.3oz Briogeo is better value for basically the same size 🔸 PAO 🔹 6 months 🔸 18 months I probably couldn’t get through a full size in 6mo so Briogeo is my clear winner here! 🔸 THE OVERALL WINNER: 🔸Briogeo - Scalp Revival Charcoal + Coconut Oil Micro-exfoliating Scalp Scrub Shampoo Despite the amazing scent of the Christophe Robin scrub, Briogeo is the clear winner for me! It fits so seamlessly into my routine, is easy to use, and leaves my scalp feeling absolutely amazing! After falling in love with this scrub, I’ve purchased several more Briogeo products and love the way my hair feels while using them! 💛 What’s your favorite scalp scrub?
