Brand Spotlight: Youth to the People
Brand Spotlight: Youth to the People
If you’ve been following my posts, you know how much love I have for Youth to the People’s skincare products, and I’m here to say that love extends to the brand itself. ♻️ environmental consciousness ♻️ All of YTTP’s packaging comes in glass bottles that are reusable or recyclable, and their box packaging is made from post-consumer, recyclable paper. The clean glass bottles let the gorgeous products speak for themselves while minimizing waste. In addition to all this, I love how straightforward their packaging is - if drives me crazy when the volume of a product looks doubled because of all the extra packaging a brand threw on to make it look fancy. YTTP also strongly encourages their customers to reuse packaging by refilling travel containers from the full size product and even offer a 16oz refill bottle for their cleanser so you don’t have to keep buying new pump bottles. YTTP also places a huge focus on sustainably sourcing the products inside their bottles! 🌈 social consciousness 🌈 One of YTTP’s mottos is “skincare for all.” They actively work to find models of all different ages and skin colors to ensure that everyone sees themselves represented by their skincare products. They don’t shy away from difficult conversations and seek out ways to give diverse voices a platform. Every June, they create a pride month collaboration fundraiser produc and year round, they are committed to giving a percentage of their proceeds to support non-profits and working in their local LA community. 🥗 ingredient consciousness 🥗 YTTP isn’t just out here trying to crank out new products for us to fill our shelves with. They are very ingredient focused and take their inspiration from the same foods that are good for us when we eat them. They craft each new product taking inspiration from these ingredients and working to target specific results. Their products are vegan and cruelty free - basically an organic salad for your face. 💫 my superstars 💫 YTTP has three starter sets for oily/combo/dry skin that can get you started with a regimen specialized for you, but used correctly, all of their products are formulated to work for all skin types (so you could be like me and just use them all...sorry wallet!!) That said, my all time favorites are the Superfood Cleanser and the Hydrate and Glow Oil. If I had to, I could probably get by with just these two products. They are so simple, gentle and effective. The cleanser nourishes and cleans with no stripping and the oil is lightweight and packed with SO many hydrating ingredients like prickly pear, maqui, and squalane. More realistically, when I travel I bring these two and a mini size of one or both of their moisturizers which is also my fallback routine anytime my skin is flaring up! Have you tried youth to the people? What’s your favorite product? Any questions about the brand? PS. @CheriePicksince you asked - if I haven’t made it clear already, YTTP is my favorite skincare brand 😉

🥬💚🥑 superfood skin reset ma
🥬💚🥑 superfood skin reset mask by youthtothepeople 🥑💚🥬 . . 💚 I was initially drawn to this mask because it reminds me of Farmacybeauty Brighton in the sense that they are kaolin clay based with vitaminC and loaded with extracts from plants, fruits and/or vegetables. As much as I love Farmacy, something in Bright On is sensitizing to me, so I was really hoping to love this superfood mask from YTTP . . 🤓 I used it a couple times a week during the course of this month’s feature. It’s a deep green with a creamy texture that never fully dries down and smells like an avocado smoothie. I think its kind of pricey given the size (used twice a week I estimate it would last 2 months) but that of course is relative. It is hard to judge antioxidant rich products, because you are in it for the long haul. However, I expect some immediate pay off for a Vitamin C Clay mask that claims to “instantly balance and restore dull, tired skin”. I found the immediate results lack luster and my skin always seemed unsure if it was happy or not after using it. I know many people love this mask and you may be one of them, but this one didn’t live up to the hype for me. Just goes to show that everyone’s skin is different 🤷🏽‍♀️

Drugstore VS High End Face Masks
Drugstore VS High End Face Masks
Do you have a favorite face scrub?? I wanted to compare some high-end, more expensive scrubs like Farmacy vs. drugstore like Burts Bees 🐝 So I really liked the Burts Bees! I use in the shower and it feels like it does the job! Although, I’m always reading about those little beads that aren’t good for your skin so be careful! Farmacy’s mask is a little drying! One thing about it is that it changes colors which is cool (and good marketing). It’s has Vitamin C which is a plus but I don’t think my dry skin likes it. For the Honest Beauty mask, it smells like berries and supposedly a good priming mask before your makeup. However, it’s so damn hard to take off! I have to use a konjac sponge which actually has turned into a nice routine! 🍇 The Evolve Radiance Mask is AMAZING! Smells legit like brownie mix! You only leave on for 5-10 mins and your skin feels great after. And it’s a clean brand! 🎂 Lastly, I like the YTTP masks! However, not sure if the green mask detoxes my face as well as it should. Though, it still feels great and doesn’t feel stripping! As for the overnight mask, feels and smells great! It has Vitamin C in it so if you’re already using a serum, just be careful 🥬🥬🥬 I chose these brands because they’re the closest (or they are) to clean beauty! If you want clean, you have to pay attention closely to ingredients! Don’t get brands/products with ingredients such as alcohol, PEG’s, parabens, fragrance, etc ✖️

Okay, so here we go! 🤭 (p.s. I’m not sure how to turn off the audio, I was listening to podcasts lol) PRODUCTS USED: • YTTP Superfood Cleanser;First off, smells AMAZING, like a green juice for your face! 🥬 • YTTP 11% Glycolic Acid Toner; I like it, it just leaves me face a tad sticky-like? It’s tolerable but slightly annoying & I feel like I go through it so quickly 🍊 • YTTP Superfood Reset Mask; I LOVE doing this mask, even my boyfriend tries to join me. It smells great & goes on very nicely! I’ve been doing it for the last 3 weeks or so and I feel like it’s helped a lot! I do about 2 times a week 🥬 • April Skin Peel Off Mask;I LOVE this mask! It’s such a rush to peel it off. And it makes my skin feel amazing after! • YTTP Adaptogen Soothe+Hydrate Mist;I like this! Although, it’s doesn’t smell the best, which is unfortunate ;( but it’s hydrating with hyalauronic acid! A good refresher! 🤍 • MMT Skin Cream;this cream is amazing!! It kind of leaves your face a bit greasy-ish but it’s tolerable. I usually pair it with the oil then this on top and it’s been my nightly routine & I love it! 🧴 • MMT Juniper Carrot Seed Oil;☝🏼 like I said, this works GREAT with the face cream. It doesn’t smell too strong and soaks in relatively quickly! 🐈 Okay, here are some details on my skin journey! 🤗 So I’ve been through like 3 different kinds of acne over the last 4-6 months. I went from what I thought was Milia around last Oct-Dec. (THIRD pic!) milia;develop when tiny skin flakes become trapped in small pockets near the surface of the skin. Then I went through hormonal acne around Jan-March. I knew this because I started getting cystic acne, especially around my chin. That led me to a dermatologist, prescribing Spiranolactane, which I stopped taking at the end of March when I didn’t think I needed it anymore. (4-6 PICS—Taken in Feb/April!) hormonal acne;usually the result of male hormones such as testosterone (yes, even as a woman, your body produces a small amount of testosterone) and other androgens. Lastly, I’ve been having some respiratory problems and had to take Amoxicillin for a week. I also changed my skincare routine ( SECOND PIC ). And ever since the beginning of April, my skin is FINALLY clearing up! So, now I’m recovering from acne scars. I don’t know if these prescriptions had any affect or if it was simply my hormones finally calming down (FIRST PIC). Therefore, I wanted to share some perspective on my prescriptions/skincare/routines and how they affected my combination skin. My best advice is to STICK to a routine for a few weeks and GO to a dermatologist! 🌞

Clearing face mask
Clearing face mask
This face mask has quickly become one of my favorites. I really enjoy the ingredients like spirulina, micro algae, kale, spinach, and green tea. It also contains cross linked hyaluronic acid which is awesome because it works effectively to plump, hydrate, and lock in moisture. It has a thin texture that glides easily onto the skin and it hardens as it dries. I love that this mask cleanses the skin while also feeding it with nutrients. I notice that my skin is more clear, it’s brighter and it always feels smooth and nourished after use. I love using it 2 times a week to reset the skin. I’d highly recommend this mask to any skin type because it’s great for dehydrated skin and to help calm the skin if it’s irritated from too many treatments.

A mask that resets your skin!
A mask that resets your skin!
📌My skin type: Dry to combination. 📌Product information: Spirulina + Microalgae Kale Spinach Superfood Skin Reset Mask ($44 for 2.0oz). This product claims to reset your skin, restores dull and tired skin. Spirulina (rich in vitamin K and B12) and microalgae are combined with their patented superfood technology. This technology consists of antioxidants, phytonutrients, essential amino acids, vitamins C, E, K and minerals, kale, spinach, green tea, alfa alfa. 📌Application: Apply it to dry skin for 10-20 minutes and rinse of with warm water. One can apply thicker layer to more dryer parts of the skin. 📌Product texture: It has a mousy texture which feels like silk on the skin. 📌My Experience: I used it 2-3 times a week and my skin really loved it. I followed it with a vitamin C serum and my normal everyday moisturizer. The best way to remove this mask is with a wet cloth which gives a mild exfoliation as well. 📌Like/ Dislike: I LOVE this product. 📌Would I recommend it?: I would definitely recommend it for dull and dry/combination skin types. 📌Rating of the product: 5/5
