👀 We all scream for eye cream!!
👀 We all scream for eye cream!!
I’m 28 and so far (knock on wood) have been very lucky in the eye department - minimal dark circles, no puffiness, and minimal wrinkles. It took me a while to get into eye creams because there’s no specific issue I’m targeting, but I finally decided that preventative work is better that restorative and took the plunge. Here are the products I’ve been on my eyes: The main product I use is YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Superfood Hydrate + Firm Peptide Eye Cream It is a thick white cream that has yttp’s signature superfood blend (lots of antioxidants from kale and spinach), aloe to boost moisture, and tripeptide to build collagen. I use about a grain of rice between my two ring fingers and tap all around my eyes - it sinks in quickly for how rich the product feels! This leaves the skin around my eyes super hydrated without any heaviness. The biggest complaint I’ve seen about this product is that it’s a great eye cream for someone who doesn’t need an eye cream...aka for me! I don’t see a huge ‘change’ from using this product, but it feels amazing and keeps the skin around my eyes hydrated which is really what I’m looking for at this point. I also got a sample of BIOSSANCE - BIOSSANCE Squalane + Peptide Eye Gel and have been testing it out for a little while. This is full of squalane to lock in moisture, peptides which are good for collagen production, and apple stem cell extract which biossance says will reduce fine lines. The texture is a light gel that quickly melts into a liquid on contact. My biggest issue with this eye gel is that it takes forever to sink in, and I am using a tiny drop across both eyes. I don’t wear makeup, but if you were trying to layer it on top, biossance recommends waiting a full 1-2 minutes which makes sense since that’s about how long I need before this isn’t wet on top of my skin. In terms of results, this eye gel is targeted at dark circles, fine lines, and puffiness. Like the yttp eye cream, I think it’s main benefit is hydration, but I have seen the tiniest bit of brightening. Finally, on the occasional day that I wake up with dark circles bad enough that I notice them, I use dr. brandt - No More Baggage Eye De-Puffing Gel which comes out of the tube as a thick orange cream. Points off because it’s difficult to dispense and has zero long term benefits, but for a daily fix, this stuff works great. I massage a tiny bit between two fingers for about 30 seconds because it comes out of the tube very firm, then tap it into my under eye area. The color correction works great - does not go on super orange - and I feel a slight firming sensation combatting puffiness. I got this in a subscription box so I probably wouldn’t buy it myself, but like using it occasionally! What’s your favorite eye cream?!

YTTP...A No From Me
YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Adaptogen Deep Moisture Cream with Ashwagandha + Reishi -Sinks into skin quickly without feeling sticky. -Fragrance-free. -Includes antioxidant rich ingredients. -Cream texture feels instantly hydrating. -Packaged in a jar which can expose air and light sensitive antioxidants. YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Superfood Firm and Brighten Vitamin C Serum -Water-like consistency that absorbs quickly and spreads with ease. -Contains palmitoyl tripeptide-5 to firm skin and vitamin C to brighten. -Includes a good blend of antioxidants and soothing ingredients. -Contains fragrance. YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Yerba Mate Resurfacing Energy Facial -Leaves skin smooth. -Includes ginger root oil which has irritating compounds. -Jar packaging most likely causes unstable enzymes to degrade sooner. -Abrasive texture can irritate skin. -Caffeine cannot energize skin as a topically-applied source. YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Superfood Antioxidant Cleanser -Contains many antioxidants including kale, green tea, and spinach. -Rinses nicely without residue and doesn’t leave skin feeling tight or dry. -Is effective at removing dirt, oil, and even makeup. -Contains fragrance. YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Superfood Hydrate + Firm Peptide Eye Cream -Cream consistency absorbs into skin with a smooth finish. -Does well at hydrating without leaving a heavy feeling. -Contains fragrance which is especially irritating to the sensitive eye area. -Jar packaging won’t keep key ingredients stable. YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Superberry Hydrate + Glow Oil -Texture isn’t overly greasy and absorbs quickly. -Formula contains many non-fragrant, antioxidant rich plant oils. -Contains fragrance which can lead to skin irritation. YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Kombucha + 11% AHA Exfoliation Power Toner -Fragrance-free. -Contains an effective amount of lactic and glycolic acid. -Includes skin-replenishing ingredients plus beneficial antioxidants. -Also includes lemon water which can cause irritation. YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Adaptogen Soothe + Hydrate Activated Mist with Reishi + Ashwagandha -Contains moisturizing and antioxidant rich ingredients. -Fragrance-free. -A really fine mist that provides lightweight hydration. -Includes a peptide that can help reduce skin sensitivity and redness. Conclusion: Many of the brand’s products contain fragrance which is a known irritant, doesn’t matter if it’s natural or synthetic fragrance. This is the main reason as to why I don’t like a majority of the products. The jar packaging is another reason but it’s not as big of a deal as the fragrance. The only product that is worth recommending is the YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Adaptogen Soothe + Hydrate Activated Mist with Reishi + Ashwagandha .

My Retinol Routine
My Retinol Routine
I introduced retinol into my routine for the first time a little over a month ago. I use it 2 nights a week and when I do, this is my routine: 1 - Cleanser: YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Superfood Antioxidant Cleanser my go to cleanser every day, twice a day! It has a gel texture, ‘green drink’ smell, and leaves my face clean but never stripped 2 - Serums: Glossier. - Super Bounce Hyaluronic Acid + Vitamin B5 Serum and Sweet CHEF - Beet + Vitamin A Serum Shot sweet chef’s beet serum has a cool gel-like texture and a beautiful pinkish red color. I want to give it another few weeks of use before I do a full review, but so far, I am impressed and have seen a noticeable improvement in skin tone, especially on my cheeks! Because retinol can be drying, Ive been pairing it with Super Bounce, glossiers HA serum to boost hydration. I’m almost through the bottle and have really enjoyed super bounce on the days I’m feeling a little dehydrated. 3 - Eye Cream: YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Superfood Hydrate + Firm Peptide Eye Cream luxuriously thick eye cream that sinks in fast and is amazing for maintaining hydration around my eyes - I use this every night! 4 - Moisturizer: YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Adaptogen Deep Moisture Cream with Ashwagandha + Reishi yttp’s adaptogen cream is deeply soothing and hydrating so it’s the perfect pairing to combat the irritating and drying effects of retinol 5 - Face Oil: 10 DEGREES COOLER - 03 MIDNIGHT IN CORSICA FACE OIL I will do a full review on this oil soon, but I love it and use it most nights! It’s an herbal smelling blend of oils (first ingredient is marula) and is a bit on the heavier side. It does an unbelievable job of locking the rest of my routine in for the night! What do you think of my retinol routine? What are your favorite ingredients or products to use alongside retinol? I’m still figuring out the best way to have it in my routine (particularly because I like to use acids on other nights and don’t want to overdo it!) so would love to hear what has worked for you!

Brand Spotlight: Youth to the People
Brand Spotlight: Youth to the People
If you’ve been following my posts, you know how much love I have for Youth to the People’s skincare products, and I’m here to say that love extends to the brand itself. ♻️ environmental consciousness ♻️ All of YTTP’s packaging comes in glass bottles that are reusable or recyclable, and their box packaging is made from post-consumer, recyclable paper. The clean glass bottles let the gorgeous products speak for themselves while minimizing waste. In addition to all this, I love how straightforward their packaging is - if drives me crazy when the volume of a product looks doubled because of all the extra packaging a brand threw on to make it look fancy. YTTP also strongly encourages their customers to reuse packaging by refilling travel containers from the full size product and even offer a 16oz refill bottle for their cleanser so you don’t have to keep buying new pump bottles. YTTP also places a huge focus on sustainably sourcing the products inside their bottles! 🌈 social consciousness 🌈 One of YTTP’s mottos is “skincare for all.” They actively work to find models of all different ages and skin colors to ensure that everyone sees themselves represented by their skincare products. They don’t shy away from difficult conversations and seek out ways to give diverse voices a platform. Every June, they create a pride month collaboration fundraiser produc and year round, they are committed to giving a percentage of their proceeds to support non-profits and working in their local LA community. 🥗 ingredient consciousness 🥗 YTTP isn’t just out here trying to crank out new products for us to fill our shelves with. They are very ingredient focused and take their inspiration from the same foods that are good for us when we eat them. They craft each new product taking inspiration from these ingredients and working to target specific results. Their products are vegan and cruelty free - basically an organic salad for your face. 💫 my superstars 💫 YTTP has three starter sets for oily/combo/dry skin that can get you started with a regimen specialized for you, but used correctly, all of their products are formulated to work for all skin types (so you could be like me and just use them all...sorry wallet!!) That said, my all time favorites are the Superfood Cleanser and the Hydrate and Glow Oil. If I had to, I could probably get by with just these two products. They are so simple, gentle and effective. The cleanser nourishes and cleans with no stripping and the oil is lightweight and packed with SO many hydrating ingredients like prickly pear, maqui, and squalane. More realistically, when I travel I bring these two and a mini size of one or both of their moisturizers which is also my fallback routine anytime my skin is flaring up! Have you tried youth to the people? What’s your favorite product? Any questions about the brand? PS. @CheriePicksince you asked - if I haven’t made it clear already, YTTP is my favorite skincare brand 😉

It’s All About the Eyes
It’s All About the Eyes
How do you feel about eye cream? Personally, I haven’t seen much difference with most. I do, however, see some difference with the biossance eye cream. It’s also the only one that doesn’t make my eyes sting. It gives me an instant more awake look and helps de puff at the same time. I don’t know that it did much for my dark circles but, I do feel like it did help at least a little. It works really well under makeup and doesn’t leave my eyes feeling oily or greasy. The other two aren’t my favorite, but they are nice moisturizers. I didn’t see any real change with them and they did kind of sting my eyes. So I don’t think I’d repurchase either. The eminence is apparently supposed to be more targeted towards those with iron or vitamin k deficiencies, so that probably explains why it didn’t do much for me. The biossance eye cream is definitely my favorite so far and is the clear winner for me. I do think I will repurchase it once this little sample runs out. Introduce your eyes to the power of superfoods and science. This is a rich, nourishing eye cream that instantly hydrates, smooths and firms the look of skin with a proprietary superfood blend, firming peptides, calming sunflower oil and soothing aloe. My experience: I honestly feel like this eye cream is so underrated because it’s such a great one! Although results aren’t instant with this one, with continued use over a couple of months, I’ve definitely seen results from this eye cream. I first started using this because I noticed some slight line around my eye area whenever I smiled. It was terrifying. The texture of this is extremely lightweight and although some people said this made their eyes water, I personally never experienced that. This keeps my eye area moisturized and after a while of using this, the line has smoothed out. Retailing at $35, this is a pretty decently priced eye cream and I’d recommend it if you’re looking for a lightweight, hydrating eye cream.
