Research ResultsSea buckthorn berry (also known as obliphica) is included in all of Amika’s haircare and styling products. It contains over 190 biologically active compounds, including vitamin C (15 times more than an orange), vitamin A (three times more than a carrot), and vitamin E. It also has high concentrations of the rare omega-7, making up 40 percent of the berry. Typically only found in fish oil, omega-7 keeps free radicals at bay and promotes the production of collagen, a key building block for skin, hair, and nails. Sea buckthorn has been thoroughly researched in over 130 modern scientific studies that have found that this berry promotes health. Women throughout the ages have used the obliphica berry to protect themselves against the ravages of the sun and the elements. Founded on tradition and now based on extensive scientific research, sea buckthorn is one of the biggest functional whole food rediscoveries of the 21st century.

Amika beach babe starter pack
Amika beach babe starter pack and I’m in love with this waver 😍 Something about having stick-straight hair all my life makes me crave curly/wavy hair. I’ve tried all sorts of curlers, wands and even chemical treatments over the years, but never a waver like this! It was fun to use and really easy to get used to. The biggest issue for me is that I have the thickest hair on the planet and if I’m not careful, this waver can make me frizzy real quick. So I’m definitely getting the hang of it still in terms of how much of my hair I should use it on, but I really like the end result! Swipe to see my hair (and my lil family 💕) • As far as the bushwick spray goes, I’m not a huge fan because it makes my hair pretty sticky and crunchy. It does do a great job of defining the waves though, so if you don’t mind having a lil bit of stickiness, this works great!

Since I’m in a very hair mood
Since I’m in a very hair mood rn, I guess I’ll keep it going!! I’m sure you guys have been seeing a lot of this collection lately, but it’s necessary. I have been using these products nonstop lately and I know I’m going to be using them so much! ☀️ ‘Sexture’ beach look shampoo - this shampoo seriously lathers the heck out of your hair in the shower to provide your locks with grit in order to give a better hold to whatever style you decide on when you dry it. I find this shampoo seriously helps with styling & let’s my hair hold a curl so much longer than it usually would! ☀️ ‘Bushwick Beach’ no-salt wave spray - I would like a big round of applause for this guy. Amika has seriously done it with this wave spray. Unlike majority of the wave sprays on the market, this is formulated WITHOUT sea salt which is actually very damaging and drying to your hair! This guy does the exact same thing (if not better) as a sea salt spray. I spray this in my hair after towel drying & then scrunch it with my fingers! When your hair dries it helps to create the most gorgeous beach waves. ☀️ ‘Got Grit’ dry texture paste - I haven’t used this a bunch yet, but when I do it definitely performs. This is like super glue for your hair! I have been using small amounts just on my ends when I scrunch my hair to make sure the bottoms keep their waves looking extra wavy. ☀️ ‘High Tide Deep Waver’ - this hot tool has blown me away. I honestly didn’t expect that this would work very well when I first got it but wow I was so wrong. At first it’s a little tricky to get the hang of, but when you do it right it gives the most gorgeous wavy hair! I’m talking literal mermaid hair.

Tangled, not wavy
Tangled, not wavy
Bushwick...unfortunately I’m not a fan. I tried it both wet and dry and it just kind of tangled my hair together and made it hard to finger comb out (I only use an actual comb fresh out of the shower. I finger comb at night and in the morning to preserve the waves and curls I get). It didn’t do much for my waves, it actually seemed to straighten them out. It was non-drying but I didn’t get texture and some pieces felt straw-like. Maybe this would work better on non-fine, non-frizz prone hair. But I know that a lot of other people have had the same issues. Unmet because a no-salt wave spray sounded so good! I’m interested in trying Un.Done because that may work better for me.

i was STOKED about amika becau
i was STOKED about amika because their packaging is so cute and everyone raves about them. i love their cool blonde shampoo cause if you’re a blonde, you KNOW we need purple shampoo to keep the brass down. as for the bushwick spray, i feel like this leaves my hair a lil crunchy but maybe i’m just putting too much in. i’m still playing around with the proper amount/ways to use it, so stay tuned. also rly sad to say i didn’t like the patchology perk up patches at all... they slid all around my face and were slimy af. i do think they did a great job improving the appearance of my under eye area, but i cant move around while wearing them. that’s kind of a no go for me.

I am a huge amika

I’ve been
I am a huge amika I’ve been able to test all 3 of the products and here are my thoughts. ✨ Sexture Beach Look Shampoo - This was a total pleasant surprise. You are supposed to be able to go conditioner free as this is a “2-1” product and I was very skeptical as my hair is typically on the dry side and I ALWAYS condition. I think it did a great job at cleansing my hair and keeping it hydrated. It also gave my hair good volume & texture and serves as an amazing base for beachy waves. - ✨Got Grit dry texture paste - another good product. I worked a small amount into my hair to help give my waves a “piecy” look all while keeping my hair from feeling dry or crunchy. - ✨ Bushwick Beach No-Salt Wave Spray - this was my least favorite. Don’t get me wrong - it does the job a typical salt spray does, but I didn’t care for the feel it left on my hair - it was sticky and kind of dry. I read reviews and have learned that less is definitely more so will try again using less product and see if that helps. - ✨ of course - amika kills it on the packaging and scent as always. Even if I don’t LOVE the spray, I certainly don’t mind looking at it!

amika Bushwick Beach No Salt
amika Bushwick Beach No Salt Wave Spray ($25), which I wanted to use on some upcoming vacations. This hairspray claims to add beachy volume...uh, I’ll let the photo in the mirror speak for itself.  🏝This photo was taken after spraying my hair, scrunching up sections, and lightly trying to blow dry some curls. As you can see, it just made my hair look messy.  🏝 I so wanted to love this because it smells amazing. Based on some trendingatsephora reviews, this amika spray seems to work for other people so maybe it’s just me? I guess I’ll stick to my beloved amika hair tools.
