VOLUMIZED, BOUNCY CURLS (90’s SUPERMODEL INSPIRE
I love the look of a blowout but I do not have the right technique to create one. The brush always ends up tangled in my hair and I get so frustrated. I created this look to fake a voluminous blowout (and it doesn’t involve the brush getting caught in your hair). This look was inspired by the 90’s supermodel era. It is part of a 2-post video and I will post the makeup look tomorrow. Products used - drybar - High Tops Self-Grip Rollers $10these rollers I originally bought to enhance an at home blowout but have been using them to create extra volume while curling my hair they come 5 in a pack with 3 large rollers and 3 smaller rollers. - $16 drybar - Hold Me Hair Clips These are optional to use to secure the rollers in place. The rollers on their own can hold there place but I haven’t fished out how to do that yet. These come in a 4 pack. - #Revlon - Curling wand 2 inch[products]#[ThreeStars] I love this curling iron because the large barrel creates big curls. The only thing is this curling wand tends to not hold a curl for long. - amika: - Brooklyn Bombshell Blowout Spray This spray is similar to a hairspray but it it’s volumizing. A lot really goes a long way with this product. If you use too much, the hair can become crunchy. It can be used on wet or dry hair. - drybar - Triple Sec 3-in-1 Finishing Spray Lush Scent Living proof. - Full Dry Volume Blast These two products work very similar to each other. They both create noticeable difference in volume when applied correctly. (The drybar product makes your hair smell so good!) To do: - Sperate the top layer of the hair and section off the back. - Take a layer of the top section and spritz the section with amika: - Brooklyn Bombshell Blowout Spray . Use the curling wand to heat up the hair to hold a curl better. With a large roller, roll up the section and secure with drybar - Hold Me Hair Clips . Using a clip to secure is optional as the rollers can stay in place on their own. - Put as many rollers as you feel necessary to create the added volume. I like to keep these rollers at the top sections of my hair. - With the back section of hair, Spritz each section with amika: - Brooklyn Bombshell Blowout Spray . Use the curling iron to create large curls. When releasing the curl, hold it in place for a bit then release. - Let the rollers sit for about 1+ hours. Take out the rollers. Lift up the hair and spray with drybar - Triple Sec 3-in-1 Finishing Spray Lush Scent and Living proof. - Full Dry Volume Blast to add lots of volume. Until I learn how to do a blowout on my hair I will be sticking to this method. #CherieCreator

A good volumizing/heat protecting spray
As you can probably tell from my feed, I buy a lot more skincare products than hair care. I’ve always been bad about just throwing my hair up into a ponytail, but I’m trying to be better and actually pay attention to my poor locks. Cue this product: a volumizing, heat protecting spray by Amika that I love! This product claims to add volume, texture, and body while protecting hair from heat from styling tools. You can use it before blow drying, or after as a re-styler. It has glycerin and sea buckthorn oil to nourish hair. It has a defined scent, which I like, but this is not for those sensitive to fragrance. I use it before blow drying my hair, and it does give me noticeable volume and texture! I made the mistake of applying too much one time though, and my hair was crunchy. So don’t overdo it. I’ve been using this semi-regularly for several months, and the bottle is still about half-full. It’s $25 for 6.7 oz, which is a generous amount of product. I’m definitely considering repurchasing, and I’d recommend this to anyone looking for a product that adds texture and body while also protecting from heat damage.

Perfect Trio for Volumized, Full Bodied Hair ⚡️
My hair has been embarrassingly thinning, so when Amika gifted me products to help with volume, excitement was an understatement! We always tend to want what we don’t have; if we have curly hair, we want straight hair - if we have thick hair, we want finer hair - & so fourth. 💜 𝒫𝓁𝓊𝓈 𝒮𝒾𝓏𝑒 𝒫𝑒𝓇𝒻𝑒𝒸𝓉 𝐵𝑜𝒹𝓎 𝑀𝑜𝓊𝓈𝓈𝑒 - Lightweight, medium hold, provides hair with volume & body for a more fuller appearance ⚡️ 𝒯𝒽𝒾𝒸𝒸 𝒱𝑜𝓁𝓊𝓂𝒾𝓏𝒾𝓃𝑔 𝐵𝒶𝓈𝑒 - Body boosting, highly concentrated styling cream to plump & thicken hair to provide full volume that will last all day ⚡️ 𝐵𝓇𝑜𝑜𝓀𝓁𝓎𝓃 𝐵𝑜𝓂𝒷𝓈𝒽𝑒𝓁𝓁 𝐵𝓁𝑜𝓌𝑜𝓊𝓉 𝒮𝓅𝓇𝒶𝓎 - Muti purpose, weightless spray that acts like a primer before blowing out your hair & helps achieve volume, body & shinier hair ⚡️ amika: - Thicc Volumizing Base amika: - Brooklyn Bombshell Blowout Spray amika: - Plus Size Perfect Body Mousse

Get the hair volume you’ve never had before!
I have flat, medium straight hair which can get boring because of its lack of volume, texture and shape. I was thrilled to use these products especially the mousse which is definitely my favorite from the set. I’ve used them all four times over the course of the last two weeks. I must admit, the first try didn’t work well because I had too much product in my hair - which made it really sticky and clumpy. Hence, I had to wash my hair again. However, I was able to figure out the perfect amount to use in order to achieve the volume, shine, and softness I’ve been looking for. Here are my quick thoughts about these products, from most to least favorite: ✨amika: - Plus Size Perfect Body Mousse is my favorite because I was able to achieve the fuller look and feel almost instantly, and very easily. It has a soft, lightweight texture that smells amazing! I apply it to my damp hair, and then blow dry. It does not make my hair feel crunchy or dry. I love the volume and texture it gives my hair. ✨amika: - Brooklyn Bombshell Blowout Spray is a decent spray that I have a love-hate relationship with. I can’t seem to find the right amount to use because it makes my hair sticky and difficult to blow dry. But, I used it on my mother-in-law’s hair and her hair looked so beautiful afterwards! It also didn’t give her hair any sticky feeling. It definitely seems to work better for thin/finer hair like hers. ✨amika: - Thicc Volumizing Base is a lightweight styling cream. Just like the blowout spray, I think the right amount is the key. Unfortunately, this one didn’t work for me. It made my hair extremely sticky and impossible to brush. So much so that I had to wash my hair again. On another try, I used a pea sized amount on my hair, and it made my hair greasy and heavy. I love Amika products and they still one of my favorite hair brands! Even though two of these products didn’t work well for my hair type, it doesn’t mean it won’t work for you. I think that finding the right products for your hair types or hair needs is essential.

Blow-Drying At Home: High Volume + Low Frizz
My thick yet fine hair naturally straddles the 2A/2B line, depending on a variety of factors: humidity level, days since last shampoo, products used, etc. But I love using the *amika: - Hair Blow Dryer Brush to add volume and tame my waves without straightening them, eliminating frizz and adding shine. I typically only heat-style on special occasions or when extending time between washes- here’s my no-wash day polished routine! 1. Separate: I separate my hair into three sections with a wide-tooth comb: crown, middle, nape. Crown is pulled into a small ponytail, then middle joins it using a clip. 2. Protect: Apply *amika: - Blockade Heat Protectant Serum liberally to the current layer- I run my fingers through the layer to help it soak in. 3. Prep: Spritz roots with amika: - Brooklyn Bombshell Blowout Spray xxxx 4. Style: Starting at the roots, I gently and slowly slide the brush, moving down that section of hair vertically. Repeat throughout the current layer until hair is to desired dryness. 5. Re-Section: I’m kind of Type A about things so I tie up the current layer of separated hair before letting down the next layer. It also helps keep from over-drying my hair and causing frizz! Repeat Steps 4-5 Until Hair Is Dry 6. Extra Moisture: Before my hair fully cools, I rub another pump of *amika: - Blockade Heat Protectant Serum between the tips of my fingers and focus on moisturizing/protecting the ends of my hair. I’ve noticed this helps my hair look more polished and extend the life of the hairstyle as far as frizz is concerned! 7. Smooth: Once my hair has cooled and the serum has soaked in, I finish everything off with a few sprays of *amika: - Silken Up Dry Conditioner and a thorough fluffing with my hands! I love how shiny and soft my hair is, perfectly smooth despite the serious volume and movement offered by the styler 💕 * PR Sample #CheriePartner

caring for straight(ish) hair
Today I want to talk about how I’ve learned to care for my hair, which isn’t stick straight but usually isn’t *super* wavy either. It can also get pretty oily in the summer; I have oily skin on my face, and the two typically go together. First, I tend to wash my hair every day. I know some people are very against this, but it’s what works for me! Since my hair is pretty straight and thin, it tends to get weighed down with product and I hate the feeling of sleeping on it. So I wash it every night. When my hair is wet, I comb out any tangles with a wide-toothed comb. I’ve found this results in way less breakage than if I comb or brush my hair when it’s dry. I use a wooden comb that was a gift, so I’m unsure of what brand it is, but there are lots of great wide-toothed combs out there. I rarely blow dry my hair. I used to blow dry it every day in high school so it would be stick straight, but thankfully that’s not the look anymore 🙃 It’s straight enough without subjecting it to unnecessary heat every day, and heat also makes hair brittle and more prone to breakage unless you use proper heat protectant products. If I do blow dry my hair, I use amika: - Brooklyn Bombshell Blowout Spray to protect from heat and add extra volume and shine. I’ve reviewed this before, but just to recap: I love it! A little goes a long way to add just the right amount of volume to my hair. I’ll be honest: I haven’t been styling my hair much at all since I’ve been working from home since March 😬 Most days it’s just a scrunchie ponytail for me. I’ll occasionally add some Batiste - Batiste Dry Shampoo or SACHAJUAN - Dark Volume Powder to add some volume to my roots—both of these are great for making my roots look lifted, and I’m recommend them to anyone with straight hair in need of a little volume and texture.

My Mental Wellness Improved Through My Self AcceptanceWhen I was around 13 or 14 years old, I remember routinely taking one of my older sister’s black eyeliner pencils before school every morning. I’d arrive early so that I could slip away to the girl’s bathroom to apply a single black line to my eyelids. My parents didn’t allow me to wear any makeup at the time. Although this smudgy line on my eyelids didn’t make me look all that much different, I never felt comfortable at school without it. My teenage mind convinced myself that I needed some sort of cosmetic symbol in order to appropriately express my femininity. Up until that point in my life, society had told girls that looked like me - tall, Black, and with kinky hair - that we somehow weren’t as beautiful as the other girls. For far too long, I believed it too.Feb. 17
