Laneige Water Bank Moisture Cream: My Thoughts
Laneige Water Bank Moisture Cream: My Thoughts
I recent received a Laneige trial kit with some of their most popular products so I thought I’d share my thoughts! Starting with the Water Bank Moisture Cream: Pros✅ instant hydrating feel cooling light on the skin nice packaging (doesn’t have much to do with skincare but it is pretty aesthetically appealing) Cons❌ feels sticky once it dries gave my face a mild burning sensation after a few minutes quite a strong fragrance left quite an oily looking sheen on my face Overall, I personally would not recommend this product. It may be reasonably priced ($50 Canadian) which isn’t too terrible considering the amount you get and that Laneige is a higher end brand sold at Sephora. I would hardly call this moisturizer their star product like some people may say. The way it laid on my normal-oily skin did not feel great and it left a film almost over my entire face. I would also not recommend this for people with dry or sensitive skin, as I had my mother also try this product once I did and she also found that it slightly burned and the fragrance really bothered her. LANEIGE - Water Bank Moisture Cream *keep in mind these are all just my opinion and my experience with this product!! It could definitely work differently for different skin types or concerns!*

#Laneigegiftedme their LANEIGE
#Laneigegiftedme their LANEIGE - Water Bank Moisture Cream via @octoly. The moisture cream is a rich whipped consistency that applies to the skin very easily. The major ingredient as the name suggests is water. The newest formulation contains ‘green mineral water’ for extra hydration. Other ingredients include squalene and hyaluronic acid. Once applied, the cream leaves your skin extremely tacky. The next day, you can still feel the cream sitting on top of the skin. My skin has definitely been hydrated but I don’t like the feeling of my face being sticky and the cream feels like it doesn’t fully absorb. The cream has a beautiful scent, but it’s really strong. Fragrance is about half way down the ingredient list. Sephora lists this as a lightweight cream for normal to dry but I consider this to be a heavier formulation that is best for dry skin types. The packaging is luxurious and heavy. For my normal skin, this is an adequate moisturizer for the winter months. ⁣ ⁣ Overall I have enjoyed trying out this product but I don’t know how often I’ll reach for this. The fragrance is overwhelming and the feel of my skin after applying are two things I didn’t enjoy. There are silicones in this formulation so keep that in mind if you have acne prone skin. ⁣ ⁣ ⁣It has a mid price point at $38. This is on trend with other moisturizers sold at Sephora. Very little product is needed for adequate application.

Claims: A rich cream powered by antioxidants + concentrated green mineral water. 💦 *other ingredients to highlight: - Brussel sprouts - artichoke - Lima bean First off, I purchased this moisturizer back in December and just finished it this past week - longevity 10/10. I used this am + pm with and without adding serums and it quickly became a staple. For my combo/acne prone skin it provided just the right amount of hydration and never felt greasy. Quickly hydrated dry/scabbed areas without clogging pores *a blessing*. I will say it does take a good 5-8 minutes for this product to fully soak into the skin - if you prefer something more fast absorbing go for the gel version of this cream. It does have a scent which I luckily did not react adversely to, however if you are most sensitive to fragrance I would suggest perhaps not using this product. I’ve seen quite a few reviews where people hate on the scent of this cream and find it overbearing, I personally find it just fine/subtle. Would I repurchase? Yes. At $50CAD it is on the more expensive side of things but simply for how long it lasted I think it is worth every penny. ⚖️ If you’ve tried this cream as well please let me know your thoughts!!!! 🥰

Skincare hyperpigmentation update
Skincare hyperpigmentation update
The second pic set is my “before” pic from June 2020 compared with last week (August 2020). Did I have a meltdown when I realized how bad my skin became after a month of using an incredibly strong topical prescription ointment with 0.5% tretinoin AND 4% hydroquinone? Yes. Yes, I did. I used that Hell Cream for hyperpigmentation and got a very intense hypopigmentation response: my skin is naturally the darker shade around the edges, not the lighter shade in the middle. The cream “bleached” my skin, essentially. And my pores remained small but clogged. But here’s how I fixed it: Face wash: I oscillate between Dr Dennis Gross - Alpha Beta Pore Perfecting Cleansing Gel for acne prevention and a very plain mom-made tea tree soap. I wouldn’t necessarily recommend the Dr. Dennis Gross cleansing gel as it hasn’t done wonders but it hasn’t done anything bad, either. I’m about to swap to CeraVe and will update later. Toner: at night only, I use BIOLOGIQUE RECHERCHE - Lotion P50 and it’s wonderful. But it’s pricey, so a great dupe (in my opinion) is The Ordinary - Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution Serums: in the morning, I use The Ordinary - Alpha Arbutin 2% + HA . At night, I use The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% and The Ordinary - Azelaic Acid Suspension 10% as well as DIFFERIN - DIFFERIN Acne Treatment Gel Moisturizer: ! The most important part for my routine! LANEIGE - Water Bank Moisture Cream for a deep dose of hydration that lasts all day. Kubra Kay Vitamin A and E night cream is AMAZING and a new favourite for me - highly recommend! ‼️ some notes in hyperpigmentation: as my skin has settled back to normal and my skin barrier is improving, I’m re-introducing a chemical exfoliant (The Ordinary - Lactic Acid 10% + HA ) to my nighttime routine. If you are not a regular acid user, I wouldn’t recommend combing the Glycolic Acid Toner and the Lactic Acid AT ALL. One or the other. The lactic acid has added HA which is a great addition to any skincare routine. To keep my dark spots fading and my pores less congested, I rely on the chemical exfoliants and the Foreo Luna handheld tool to get all the grime off at the end of the day! If anyone has any great, gentle face cleansers they like, comment it so I can check them out! ✨🙋🏽‍♀️ P.S - I’m in search of a good vitamin c serum for the morning: help wanted!

New fav night cream!
New fav night cream!
This is my new favourite night cream by Kubra Kay! KK is a small, black owned skincare company with incredible and clean products. I was a regular user of the Dr. Jart+ - Cicapair™ Tiger Grass Cream and the Dr. Jart+ - Ceramidin Cream and in my opinion, the Kubra Kay night cream is a great alternative! It has a lighter consistency, absorbs very well, and I wake up with soft, hydrated, and glowing skin. I’ve been a years-long tretinoin user so my skin barrier is weak and peeling from chemical exfoliants. With this at night and LANEIGE - Water Bank Moisture Cream in the morning, my skin is definitely improving!
