My AM/PM Routines - Combination to dry skin
My skincare routine varies. I find listening to my skin & responding to it each day works better than having a strict routine In this post I’ll explain how I combine my regular products in different ways & why I change it up day to day All the specific products I use are tagged in the photos 🌞AM ROUTINES🌞 REGULAR AM This is what I do most mornings 1. Gentle cleanser 2. Vitamin C 3. Alcohol-free toner 4. Face oil 5. Tinted moisturiser w/ SPF ➡️ The toner I use isn’t the traditional, astringent kind so it actually soothes my skin after an active product OUTDOOR DAY If I expect to be in the sun a lot! 1. Gentle cleanser 2. Vitamin C 3. Alcohol-free toner 4. SPF50 5. Tinted moisturiser w/SPF ➡️ I ditch the face oil when I’m wearing extra SPF to avoid feeling too greasy ➡️ The tinted moisturiser isn’t necessary for sun protection but I like the extra colour/coverage. SENSITIVE DAY 1. Gentle cleanser 2. Alcohol-free toner 3. Nourishing face oil 4. Tinted moisturiser w/ SPF ➡️ I play it cautious. If my skin is feeling reactive I’ll ditch the Vit C (as well as other actives ie retinol/chemical exfoliants) MAKEUP PREP 1. Gentle cleanser 2. Vitamin C 3. Alcohol-free toner 4. Priming oil 5. Foundation ➡️ My priming oil is a 2 in 1 - it works as both a primer & moisturiser LAZY DAYS 1. Gentle cleanser 2. Tinted moisturiser w/ SPF ➡️ Even on days when I can’t be bothered, I always cleanse & apply a product with SPF 🌚PM ROUTINES🌚 REGULAR PM 1. Gentle cleanser 2. Alcohol-free toner 3. Glycolic eyecream 4. Nourishing face oil 5. Moisturiser ➡️ I use eyecream because I am prone to milia there & glycolic acid can help to prevent/treat it. Also my moisturiser is heavy (my skin is mostly dry) however heavy moisturisers can exacerbate milia so I need a different one for my eyes RETINOL Roughly 3 times a week 1. Gentle cleanser 2. Nourishing face oil 3. Retinol 4. Moisturiser ➡️ I’m new to retinol & it dries me out. I’ve seen a few dermatologists recommend applying it in between two layers of moisturiser to combat this & this has worked for me ➡️ I don’t use my glycolic eyecream on these nights as there’s no need - retinol can help prevent/treat milia too MAKEUP REMOVAL 1. Micellar water 2. Oil cleanse 3. Gentle cleanser 4. Nourishing face oil 5. Moisturiser ➡️ I use pure coconut oil as an oil cleanser which can’t be rubbed into the eyes, so I remove eye makeup with micellar first EXFOLIATION Roughly 2 times a week 1. Gentle cleanser 2. Chemical exfoliant 3. Alcohol-free toner 4. Nourishing face oil 5. Moisturiser LAZY 1. Nourishing cleansing wipes 2. Facial mist ➡️ I keep these in my bedside draw so I can do this routine from the comfort of my bed! 🌸MASKS🌸 REFRESH 1. Exfoliate 2. Soothing sheet mask ACNE 1. Clay (cleans pores) 2. Pure honey (anti bacterial/inflammatory) RELAX 1. Clay 2. Aloe gel *Cleanse before masks & moisturise after!

My beauty year in review 👏🏻
From starting 2020 with a seven day old newborn baby and all the crazy hormones and changes to my body, skin and hair which goes with a new baby (yes, this is why I look exhausted and have something spilt on my top in the February photo 🙈😂) to a global pandemic which resulted in my husband working from home and suddenly needing to learn how to homeschool my older daughter this year has been crazy and challenging to adjust and find the right balance. Inspired by joining Cherie I completely overhauled my skin routine while stuck at home during lockdown and went from a basic routine to learning how to read ingredient lists and incorporating serums and actives into my skincare to address my changing skin postpartum and also due to ageing now I’m in my 30’s. Once my skin started looking and feeling brighter and healthier I was able to jump back into my love of makeup which I hadn’t had the energy to do in over a year while I was pregnant and with a new baby which is a great creative outlet for me and really helps my self esteem ☺️ The more I’ve focused on taking the time for self-care the better frame of mind I’ve been in (which is so important as someone who suffers with anxiety and OCD and needs to manage stress well to keep my anxious habits in check) and the better person I’ve been able to be for everybody around me. I’ve also been lucky enough to join the Cherie creators team and get to know an amazing group of girls including @Jillianb1@LindseyRR@D.Bennett@madihomewood@Beautycation_by_shruti@christyr@emiskiier27@bealizbeauty@BeautyRoams@JaNeeReviewsand @Tangibeautywho have given me so much inspiration in my beauty journey this year ✨ So to finish off my year in review here are my top five new products I’ve tried in 2020 🥳 🏆 SOL de Janeiro - Brazilian Kiss Cupuaçu Lip Butter 🏆 alkira - Mineral Radiance Facial Masque 🏆 The Ordinary - Lactic Acid 10% + HA 🏆 GO-TO - Face Hero 🏆 tarte - Maneater Mascara

SOS 🆘 Irritated Skin Tool Kit 🆘
Nearly everyone at some point in their skin care journey will have a negative reaction to a product or accidentally overdo it on the active ingredients. Obviously, depending on the severity of the reaction, your first step should always be to use common sense to decide if seeing a professional like a dermatologist is necessary But assuming your reaction isn’t too severe or persistent, here are the steps & products that work for me to calm my irritated skin. ⭐️ I temporarily stop using products with active ingredients ⭐️ Vitamin C & chemical exfoliants are part of my regular skin care routine & give me results. However, if my skin has become irritated for whatever reason, I back off on the active ingredients temporarily to allow my skin the time it needs to recover. #Murray River Organics - 100% Organic Virgin Coconut Oil[products]#[FiveStars] ⭐️ I swap my regular foam cleanser for coconut oil & just do an oil cleanse instead ⭐️ To be honest, I have always found it absurd when people spend heaps of money on fancy oil cleansers when my $7 coconut oil from the grocery store achieves the same results. To use coconut oil as an oil cleanser, massage about a teaspoon into the face then rinse for 60 seconds with warm water. You may need to use a damp face cloth to remove any excess oil afterwards. I have dry skin, so coconut oil works well for me & I am not too concerned if a small amount isn’t completely rinsed off. However if you have oily or acne prone skin you may wish to remove the excess oil away with a *gentle* foam or gel cleanser afterwards. Whatever works for you! #Ethical Honey - Honey[products]#[FiveStars] ⭐️ I stop using all other face masks & do a pure honey mask instead ⭐️ Honey contains antibacterial and anti inflammatory properties, along with boasting a whole range of other benefits. After doing a honey mask, my skin always feels soft, fresh & calm. I usually buy my honey from my local market, hence why the jar pictured doesn’t have a label. I tend to avoid buying products with honey in them because there are some ethical issues surrounding honey & how it is obtained. However I know the honey guy at my local market genuinely cares for the wellbeing of his bees! The product linked above is also a good brand for ethical honey that ships to everywhere in Australia. GO-TO - Face Hero ⭐️ I moisturise my skin with a face oil that has soothing properties, like Go-To’s Face Hero. Face Hero contains 10 different plant & nut oils that together help to hydrate, revive and brighten your skin. It also helps to fight against fine lines, dark spots, dryness & inflammation. I know this product isn’t going to cause my skin any further irritation, whilst still making it appear fresh and healthy. sukin - Micellar Cleansing Water ⭐️ Lastly, I avoid wearing make up. Especially foundation ⭐️ If I do need to wear make up, I remove it using micellar water because it is gentle!
Beauty Product #Shelfie - My Everyday Faves!
These are my favourite products for my daily skin & hair care routine. For more details on each product see below! ⭐️ Skin care (bottom shelf) GO-TO - Properly Clean I avoid harsh cleansers as I have naturally dry skin. This cleanser has me feeling clean and fresh but doesn’t dry me out. GO-TO - Exfoliating Swipeys I am new to chemical exfoliation but I am enjoying this product so far. I use it 2-3 times a week. MARIO BADESCU - Aloe Vera Toner I use this alcohol free toner under my eye area to prevent milia & around my nose to combat sebum build up. GO-TO - Face Hero I would give this oil 6 starts if I could! It is amazing. So light & soothing yet incredibly moisturising. JOSIE MARAN - Argan Moonstone Drops Makeup Priming and Highlighting Oil I don’t wear make up often, but when I do I use this oil because it doubles as a primer. It has a shimmer in it that makes my skin glow. GO-TO - Zincredible 15 Tinted I use this as my morning moisturiser. It is slightly tinted so provides some coverage & also has SPF15+. MECCA - To Save Face SPF50+ Superscreen For days when I need full sun protection, I use this product. Despite being SPF50+ it still feels light on my face. It also has a slight tint through it. Perfect for beach days! 💇🏼♀️ Hair care (top shelf) KEVIN.MURPHY - Blonde.Angel.Wash This is basically a shampoo designed for... well, blondes. It prevents your colour from going brassy. It is also sulphate free. KEVIN.MURPHY - Blonde.Angel Treatment This is a treatment conditioner that pairs well with the Blonde Angel Wash. Together they help me me maintain my cool blonde tones in between hair appointments. MR.SMITH - Mr. Smith Blond This is a very effective, fast working treatment that also tones the brassiness out of blonde hair. My hair tends to go brassy very easily so I use this product once a fortnight to prevent that. KEVIN.MURPHY - Heated.Defense This is a new product for me & I have used it a handful of times & overall been happy with its effectiveness at protecting my hair when I blow dry it. KEVIN.MURPHY - Shimmer Me Blonde I LOVE this product. Spray at the end of styling your hair to give your blonde tones some extra shimmer & shine. KEVIN.MURPHY - Doo Over This product is like a 3 in 1. It is a light hold finishing spray, adds texture and also works as a dry shampoo. 💆🏼♀️ Other 100BON - Davana & Vanille Bourbon EDP This is my daily scent. Very affordable & smells divine. Doesn’t last all day unfortunately buy still great. MYAURA ORGANICS - All Natural Deodorant Bergamont Lime Coconut I’m big on aluminium free deodorant. I love the lime scent from this brand.

My current PM routine for dry skin 🌜✨
In the order that I use these products: 🌜 First Cleanse — The Ordinary - Squalane Cleanser (not pictured) — lovely smooth texture, very gentle and no fragrance to irritate skin but doesn’t cut through makeup by itself ✨ Second Cleanse — philosophy - Purity One-Step Facial Cleanser — nice and gentle, non-stripping but contains fragrance so I’ll be moving away from this cleanser once I’ve used up this bottle 🌜 Serum — The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% — goes on smoothly and dries down quickly, zinc controls oils on my nose and it’s helped by skin tone a lot ✨ Exfoliation — The Ordinary - Lactic Acid 10% + HA — I use 2-3 times a week and my skin it beautifully soft and glowing the next morning. I love lactic acid exfoliators as they’re gentle on my dry and mildly sensitive skin. 🌜 Lip Exfoliation — LUSH - LUSH Honey Lip Scrub — I absolutely love this lip scrub, it’s my all time favourite. It contains honey which is moisturising and has healing properties and cooling peppermint along with caster sugar so you get a nice scrub while still being gentle. I use this 2-3 times a week especially after using matte lipsticks to keep my lips soft and hydrated. ✨ Moisturiser — YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Superberry Hydrate + Glow Dream Mask — I use this as my overnight moisturiser, it’s rich and creamy and packed with loads of great ingredients to which keep my skin hydrated and glowy including vitamin c, hyaluronic acid and squalane. 🌜Eye Cream — philosophy - Purity Made Simple Eye Gel — Not everybody sees eye cream as necessary but for me being over 30 and with dry skin and sensitive eye area a suitable eye cream is a must in my routine. I really like the gel texture of this product and it’s beautifully hydrating but for me once it’s gone I’ll be looking for something which will also tackle dark circles. ✨ Brow Treatment — BROW CODE - Brow Gold Nourishing Growth Oil — This is a totally unnecessary step for most but I have incredibly thin and sparse brows so for the last week I’ve incorporated this brow growth oil and I can already start to see a difference. I apply one drop per brow and brush through with a spooly brush. 🌜 Face Oil — GO-TO - Face Hero — I use this last to lock all the moisture into my skin and absolutely love it. I have a full run down on this product if you want to know more. ✨ Lip Treatment — LANEIGE - LANEIGE Lip Sleeping Mask — I love this lip mask, it’s so smooth and moisturising for my lips and smells like sweet berries.

Hands up for ethical skincare 🙋🏻♀️
Face Hero is a cruelty free and ethical facial oil made by GO-TO who are an Australian owned company that make their products in Australia and New Zealand. Face Hero contains a mix of ten different plant and nut oils which are loaded with antioxidants, vitamins and fatty acids to hydrate and nourish your skin. ✨✨✨✨✨ My Skin: Normal to dry and mildly sensitive My Thoughts: I’ve been using this facial oil daily as part of my PM routine for the last four months and it has done so much for the hydration of my skin. I wake up every morning with plump, hydrated skin even through winter with heating running overnight in my house which is usually so harsh for someone with skin on the drier side. Value: Cost is AU$45 for 30ml/1oz. I use one big drop per cheek every night and have been using the same bottle for months now so it goes a long way! It’s middle of the range pricewise (you can get straight rosehip oil from The Ordinary for AU$18.90 or blends of facial oils from companies like Drunk Elephant and Youth to the People for AU$60-65) but has a larger range of benefits than a single oil but is around 30% cheaper than comparable products plus GO-TO offset 100% of their emissions and support Reforest Now (a non-profit who protect, conserve and regenerate forests) so what more could you want from a product at this price point!? 🙌🏻 My Rating: GO-TO - Face Hero As you can probably tell by now I’m a huge fan of both this brand and this product! I would absolutely repurchase and recommend this little hero.
