Highlights
Why It's SpecialDrunk Elephant's Beste No. 9 actually removes makeup while it cleanses—yes, even waterproof mascara—and it won't sting your pretty peepers in the process.
What It IsAn innovative jelly cleanser that removes all traces of makeup, excess oil, pollution, and any other grime from the day. Free of SLS, fragrance, and essential oils, Beste™ No. 9 is totally non-irritating, non-sensitizing, and appropriate for all skin.
What Else You Need to KnowBeste™ No. 9 is formulated at an ideal, non-stripping pH level of 5.5. 100 percent free of essential oils, silicones, and fragrance. Note: In Afrikaans, Beste means Best. Even though the first eight versions weren’t exactly that, Drunk Elephant thinks they’ve finally found the best one yet. They are calling it Beste™ No. 9 after going through nine formulations to get there! Only the Beste will do. Note from Tiffany Masterson, Drunk Elephant Founder: "We took your feedback about the original Beste and made some changes—we swapped out the twist top packaging for a trusty flip top and tweaked the formula so it’s gentle enough to use on eyes (and remove every last trace of makeup)." Drunk Elephant is committed to using only ingredients that either directly benefit the health of the skin or support the integrity of their formulations. They never take into account whether something is synthetic or natural, instead choosing ingredients based on biocompatibility. That’s why they focus on healthy pH levels, formulations the skin recognizes, small molecular structure that’s easily absorbed, and effective active ingredients that also support and maintain the skin’s acid mantle. But what they leave out of their products is just as important as what they put into them, so you will never find what they call the Suspicious 6 (essential oils, drying alcohols, silicones, chemical sunscreens, fragrances/dyes, SLS) in their line. Drunk Elephant believes that these six ubiquitous ingredients are at the root of almost every skin issue, and when they’re removed entirely from your routine—that is, when you take a Drunk Break™—skin can reset and return to its healthiest, most balanced state. This ingredient-elimination diet benefits all skin types and inspired the #barewithus Instagram movement, a collection of bare-faced selfies that chronicles the Drunk Elephant journeys of people who have found not only healthier skin but more importantly, healthier self-confidence. Drunk Elephant is a supporter of IEF (International Elephant Foundation) and is cruelty-free. Drunk Elephant Hair & Body Line... On Your Face?
Drunk Elephant Hair & Body Line... On Your Face?
Did y’all know that legitimately every product from the new Drunk Elephant release can be used on the face? That’s how biocompatible and “clean” they are. I will be reviewing the other three products (Shampoo, Conditioner, Deodorant) as facial products as well, since they were also cleared as face-safe 👀 DRUNK ELEPHANT - T.L.C. Happi Scalp Scrub - Babyfacial a bit too much for you? Try Happi Scalp as a once-per-week 10-minute peel, blending physical and chemical exfoliation for baby-soft skin AND a refreshed scalp. The cellulose beads were a gentle and non-irritating scrub that I’m excited to use again! I liked this a lot and feel like the AHA concentration is low enough to allow me to use it once per week versus the two week wait between Babyfacial uses my sensitive skin requires. DRUNK ELEPHANT - Wild Marula Tangle Spray - It makes my hair soft, it makes my face soft, it fits in my purse without threatening to spill, and it’s only $25 USD. I used this as a moisturizing facial spray quite a few times when it was released, but now it’s gotten too hot and humid for liberal oil application on my combo self. But if you have dry skin, this would be an easy way to refresh your skin mid-day. Spritz, pat, enjoy your dewiness. DRUNK ELEPHANT - Kamili Cream Body Cleanser - Beste No 9 a bit too much for your dry skin? Since it’s a cream cleanser, I find Kamili leaves my skin very soft while still cleansing effectively. Since I’m lazy, this has been my go-to shower cleanser for face and body. It did have trouble removing makeup so I’d stick to using it in the AM, after the gym, or when you’re only wearing sunscreen.

Cleanser + Mask For A Totally Clean And Hydrated Face
Cleanser + Mask For A Totally Clean And Hydrated Face
DRUNK ELEPHANT - Beste No. 9 Jelly Cleanser This facial cleanser was gifted to me by a friend who loves Drunk Elephant products. She swears by them, and I completely trust her opinion when it comes to skincare. I would love to have more Drunk Elephant on my skincare arsenal but they just come with a hefty price tag.   This cleanser is super gentle; one of the best cleansers I’ve used so far. I love facial washes that cleans my face but doesn’t leave it feeling tight and dehydrated. This clearly gets rid of all the underlying makeup residues that my makeup remover leaves, but even if it’s mad at dirt and grime, it doesn’t feel dry on my face. I thought that by its name, it will be jelly-like in consistency but this cleanser has a normal consistency.   ORIGINS - Drink Up Intensive Overnight Hydrating Mask with Avocado & Swiss Glacier Water After a good cleanse with my Drunk Elephant jelly cleanser, I like taking the bar up a notch but putting on a hydrating mask on my face.   I got this Origins in a set, and it was the first time I tried their products. This variant is specifically made to combat dryness and to bring back the skin’s moisture. I have a dry combination skin type so anything hydrating that unclogs my pores is heaven-sent for me. I love love love this mask! It leaves my skin glowing every time I use it. I leave it on overnight and I always wake up with super hydrated skin the morning after. I know it can be overwhelming as Origins have a lot of masks, but if you want to get one for yourself, this is the mask! I recommend it for those who have dry or dry combination skin. It really makes a difference when I use it.

Clean Beauty 🌱 Fad Or Real Deal?!
Clean Beauty 🌱 Fad Or Real Deal?!
As the beauty world continues to grow, we are seeing more and more brands either starting out or reformulating to be considered a clean beauty brand. This movement reminds me all too well of when eating organic & staying away from preservatives became a major lifestyle trend, and continues to be to this day! People are constantly finding ways to better themselves, whether it’s better healthier habits, better exercise, and now clean beauty for flawless looking skin. The question is: Is this just a fad or is clean beauty really the road to the best skin one can have? Up until around November of 2019, I didn’t really have a strict skincare regime. I washed my face in the shower with drugstore products like Clean & Clear scrub, and use whatever moisturizer was laying around. I didn’t use face masks, under eye gel patches, and I had no idea what toner or essence was! 😂 It really wasn’t until I started my makeup beauty account on IG almost a year ago that I started learning about skincare routines and how important it was to have one. But as I said, it wasn’t until November 2019 that I discovered Drunk Elephant, clean beauty, layering / mixing, and listening to my skin’s needs (needs more hydrating products, nourishing products, pore clearing products, etc). I will 100% stand by and say that my skin has never looked better since using Drunk Elephant products. But because I do try out and test products for IG, I can’t sit here and say it’s ALL I use. But I can tell you that my skin definitely reacts now (and I don’t have sensitive skin either!) when I use certain products because it is so accustomed to DE and their wonderful, beneficial ingredients. So do I think you can only have flawless looking skin using clean beauty products? No. I had relatively nice skin, no acne issues or breakouts, before having a proper skincare regime. There are also plenty of clean beauty brands that are affordable on the market like The Inkey List & Good Molecules. I think the key to great looking skin is just by listening to your skin’s needs, testing new products out in small skin patches to prevent reactions, and just using a trial and error method. What works for one person may not work for the next, and that’s perfectly fine. That’s the beautiful thing about this beauty community - there are an endless amount of options for everyone to find something that works for them!

Oil control cleanser?
Oil control cleanser?
Thoughts: I recieved this cleanser as a birthday gift this month along with protini and decided I would give it a go. I know many get excited about trying out something from this expensive brand but I can't say I was over the moon. I simply wanted to try out this cleanser from drunk elephant to see if it would wow me..It didn't. I only tried this for about a week before I went ahead and switched back to the cleanser I was using because I didn't like much the results. I had started to get little blemishes on my forehead and chin after a week. I didn't get blemishes from any other product I was using till I switched out my milky cleanser for this one so I knew it was this. I also didn't like how this left a strange not cantaloupey at all kind of scent on my face.. Now this cleanser is not all that bad it did help control/balance some oiliness I had on my nose and t zone and didn't strip my face of natural oils and such, I will give it that..but I could truly do better without this and prefer something more hydrating that won't break me out. I don't like it and won't be using this again. Claims: An innovative jelly cleanser that will remove makeup, pollution, excess oil and any grime. Targets: oiliness and makeup removal Texture: a sticky gel consistency Some ingredients: Virgin marula oil to nourish Glycerin to replenish and hydrate Cantaloupe fruit extract to soothe and hydrate Price: $32 the full size Recommendation: No I don't recommend this because of the strange scent it leaves and how it may break you out. I’d rather get coal than... Drunk Elephant’s Beste No.9 Jelly Cleanser! Function: Removes all traces of makeup, pollution, & excess oil. Target Concerns: Makeup removal and oiliness. Texture Consistency: Thick and gel-like. My overall experience: I got this as one of my birthday rewards from Sephora. I was super excited because Drunk Elephant is a very pricy brand and this gave me a chance to try out a product! I took this with me when I went camping for a weekend because of the small size of it and how easy it is to squeeze it out. Sadly it sucked Do I like it? Heck to the no! This for some reason broke me out and wrecked havoc on my skin! Would I recommend it? No! This cleanser broke me out and I wouldn’t want that to happen to others. I’ve also read reviews saying that some people have had similar outcomes of this cleaner. Worth it? Well if you’d like to pay $32 for 5oz/150ml of something that will possibly break you out and make your skin dry as heck then knock yourself out😂 As you can tell not worth it to me! Rapid Reviews: Cleansers, Part 1
Rapid Reviews: Cleansers, Part 1
Cleansing is my favourite skincare step, so here are my opinions on some of my cleanser stash! Also, here is your daily reminder to double cleanse any day you wear sunscreen or makeup. And stop washing your face with gel/foam cleanser in the morning. • *HOLI FROG - Kissimmee Vitamin F Therapy Balmy Wash : A creamy balm that isn’t too thick and easily removes makeup and sunscreen. It is a little hard to get fully emulsified and takes time to rinse away, but I love how soft my skin is after! • DRUNK ELEPHANT - Slaai Makeup-Melting Butter Cleanser : A thick balm that quickly melts to effectively remove makeup and sunscreen. It emulsifies less easily than HoliFrog’s but is quicker to rinse off. It leaves skin moisturized and clean! • THE inkey LIST - Oat Cleansing Balm : The best -and cheapest- first cleanse, it is a slick balm that emulsifies easily, rinses quickly, and just is overall super easy to use while removing makeup and sunscreen. Doesn’t leave my skin as soft but there’s no residue at all. • PAULA'S CHOICE - Gentle Touch Makeup Remover : I use this only to remove my mascara and I enjoy it thoroughly- no scrubbing, no rubbing, just a few swipes and my mascara is gone with zero burning. •*HOLI FROG - Tashmoo Water Lily Nourishing Milky Wash : The gentlest cleanser I’ve ever used. Doesn’t remove makeup or sunscreen well, but leaves skin soft and calm. A good second or morning cleanse! • PAULA'S CHOICE - RESIST Perfectly Balanced Foaming Cleanser : Thorough yet non-stripping, perfect for when you want to feel clean without skin feeling tight. I enjoy the cream-to-foam texture a lot! Gets off every trace of balm residue. My favourite cleanser thus far. • DRUNK ELEPHANT - Beste No. 9 Jelly Cleanser : Reserved for when I’ve been soaked in sweat all day or covered in grime, this gets you clean af without making skin feel tight. My heavy duty cleanser! Dry skin types may feel stripped. • *HOLI FROG - Superior Omega Nutritive Gel Wash : A low-lather wash that is a perfect everyday gel cleanser. Doesn’t strip or dry out skin, but removes any residue from balm cleansers. A normal, nice cleanser that I love to stick in the fridge to use on humid days. (I have used other popular cleansers, from Farmacy and Tatcha and Youth to the People, but don’t repurchase or enjoy them. I prefer to promote products I like versus criticizing brands I dislike. I’m currently testing some CeraVe and other drugstore brand cleansers) * - gifted, but opinions are always my own.
