Do You Need An Eye Cream?
Short answer? No. Long answer? No. Eye creams are all advertising- brands selling you a moisturizer in a smaller bottle and pretending it’s somehow superior to another moisturizer. It’s not. I love the eye creams I’ve featured in this photo, but moreso because they feel nice and I like a twenty-step skincare routine, not because they’re miracle cures. This skincare myth doesn’t offer long-term help for your puffiness, dark circles, fine lines, or wrinkles. Let’s talk about what does help them: • Puffiness and Dark circles are generally a genetic, lifestyle, and/or environmental issue. Allergies? See it around eyes. Not very hydrated? See it around eyes. Not enough sleep? See it around eyes. Drink more water, reduce sodium/alcohol/caffeine intake, get more sleep, and consult a doctor about any seasonal allergies. As well, the puffiness/dark circles may be due to fat distribution in the face, something that worsens with age. Wear sunscreen to preserve what collagen you can and visit a dermatologist to talk about filler for a visibly-noticeable long-term fix. Until then, I’m a fan of Glossier. - Stretch Concealer over Glossier. - Bubblewrap Eye + Lip Plumping Cream to keep my hereditary dark circles under control. • Fine lines and Wrinkles are a touchy subject. The main offense is a good defense: apply a fragrance-free (all good skincare should be fragrance-free though) moisturizer to your entire face- including around your eyes, where skin is thin and fragile. Repeat the process with sunscreen. Voila, you’ve staved off wrinkles another day! Want to try a more “active” approach? Lightly apply a collagen-stimulating peptide serum and/or a gentle retinol cream. However, when the fine lines and wrinkles have already developed, no topical product is going to be as effective as biting the bullet and getting some filler- I’d sooner save my $$$ for the dermatologist’s office than on an eye cream that claims to be able to erase years off my future crow’s feet.

Drunk Elephant - C-Firma Day Serum & C-tango Multivitamin Eye Cream Firma: 4.5/5 Tango: 3/5 Firma Claims to brighten dark spots, firm and give luminosity - Brighten: Yes / Firm: ? / Luminosity: Yes! Texture - Serum-y, runny Scent - Bacon ——— This is a very good and potent vitamin c! I was skeptical using it at first as it was already oxidized when I got it but I really eased into this one... I didn’t enjoy using either because of the smell! First it smelled like sesame seeds and then plain bacon. Now I can however look past the smell and enjoy the wonderful results! This is the fastest acting vitamin c I have ever tried! I still love my Melano CC, and will forever. That one fades my most persistent scars but C-firma gives me a super healthy glow and radiant skin every time I wake up. It’s very effective in the way where you can actually see results immediately after a day or two. I was pleasantly surprised and will probably repurchase it after my mini. It really brightens my whole look & contains such great ingredients. I can’t see any firming so far but I still have young skin so I leave that for someone else to review. How I wish it didn’t oxidize this fast and smell like bacon. Also I don’t like how sticky it leaves the skin, that’s where it lost points. However, I really recommend this to everyone for results. Super impressed! ——— Tango Claims to brighten, firm and give radiance - Brighten: Yes / Firm: No / Radiance: No Texture - Creamy Scent - No smell ——— I have been messing up my sleeping cycle in recent months so I gave this one a go. I feel that it’s doing a good job in lightly brightening up the bags under my eyes but I feel no radiance or firming. Again the firming part I can’t speak much about but no radiance. I’m usually skeptical about eye creams, and I really do like the ingredient list of C-tango. It’s full of vitamins and peptides. Nevertheless, it’s only slightly brightening my under eyes so I can easily skip it in my routine. I believe it is a good eye cream since I find it hard finding one that does more than hydrate, it’s just not doing super much for me and I don’t love it. Purchased at drunkelephant - Littles Set $90

My skincare (normal to oily sensitive skin)
My current routine! I have ups & downs & some I want to improve but this is what it’s currently at! Not pictured: TATCHA - Calming Foaming Enzyme Powder Absolutely love! Was going back & forth between this version & the one for oily skin but this one is juuuuuust right for my picky skin!! Pictured: (in order of use) TATCHA - The Essence Plumping Skin Softener Omg-it’s a game changer! This stuff may just look like fancy water (lol who am I kidding-I use evian - Brumisateur Natural Mineral Water Facial Spray so yeah-THATS fancy water but I love it! lol) but this stuff is 100% the real deal! I’ve noticed that products glide one & I don’t have as much of the shiny effect after putting on my skincare routine! Yay! DRUNK ELEPHANT - Shaba Complex Firming Eye Serum Ok so warning on this one-you’ll never use a full pump unless you share with 2 other people at the same time-this pump is stupid-I hate it but the product so far has done a good job & hasn’t made me run to go find a new one right away-could it be improved...? Yeah-but it’s a good option for me for now 😊 also-I don’t like using this by itself cuz it’s drying... so for a fix to that I added.... DRUNK ELEPHANT - C-Tango Multivitamin Eye Cream One again-you don’t need a full pump unless you’re sharing-no one has that much surface area to cover with this...ugh. This is the step that was missing when I just was using the firming serum-this is hydrating & goes after because it’s thicker. The combo works for me. Would I rather have 1 product? Yes. Would I rather have a better pump that doesn’t portion out share sizes of product? Yes.... am I rushing to Sephora to find a new one? Ha! No.... Curology - Curology formula My 2 cents on those people who hate this? It’s not for you & that’s ok! But dang does this work for me!! It’s a must have!! Love it!! -or- never and DRUNK ELEPHANT - T.L.C. Framboos Glycolic Resurfacing Night Serum I haven’t used this enough to rate but this is supposedly suppose to help with dark spots & pores? We shall see tester size...we shall see... TATCHA - The Water Cream Omg moisture heaven! Smells like a spa, glides on like a dream AND has gold in it? Sign me up! This stuff is amazing-I love it & it does wonders for me! Add ons! TATCHA - THE SERUM STICK Not in love-good for dry spots or singular areas every once in a while but meh-not worth it & not a fave of mine. TATCHA - Luminous Dewy Skin Mist Also-not in love. Is it nice when I’m dried out? Yeah! Does it last? Nooooot really? Meh-I have it I’ll use it & I won’t buy again... TATCHA - Silken Pore Perfecting Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 35 PA+++ Meh-this is just....meh. Again will use it up & not rebuy....

Skincare Story: Acne to Eczema to Glow-Up
When I started my skincare journey, I had the oiliest skin imaginable and dealt with constant hormonal breakouts. I tried every brand Sephora had to offer- each one filled with more fragrance, essential oils, and/or alcohol than the last. My skin quickly became overwhelmed and I broke out into terrible atopic dermatitis which would become chronic. And bam! I had eczema. It was... a struggle, to say the least. I went from oily to combination, with flare-ups that got me so dry I’d flake. Unpleasant. But I learned. I switched to fragrance-, essential oil-, alcohol-free skincare. Cleansers with gentle surfactants. Less exfoliation and more nourishing ingredients. Added hydrating products to reduce the dehydration that caused my oily skin and keep my now-combo skin happy. I gave my skin at least 2-4 no-actives rest days every week. My skin slowly recuperated. Now my hyperpigmentation is fading and my eczema flare-ups are less common. I still get breakouts, but they’re less painful and less long-lived. A few products (such as PAULA'S CHOICE - 10% Azelaic Acid Booster and The Ordinary - Ascorbic Acid 8% + Alpha Arbutin 2% ) are amazing for their role in reducing my hyperpigmentation, but I can’t emphasize enough how my acne and eczema flare-ups wouldn’t have improved if I hadn’t eliminated my triggers by switching brands. I stopped using fragranced brands like Origins, Fresh, Herbivore, Dr Jart, Tatcha, and Summer Fridays, and switched to biocompatible brands like Drunk Elephant, The Ordinary, The Inkey List, and Paula’s Choice. By taking out all possible irritants, my skin found peace. My acne reduced in frequency + intensity and I nowadays a combo of PAULA'S CHOICE - 10% Niacinamide Booster and PAULA'S CHOICE - Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliator keeps them short-lived. Skin rest days are still important but I can’t emphasize enough that your skin is an organ and everyone should be treating it as such 🙌🏽

My eye cream awards!
Here to tell you all about some of my favorite eye creams! Eye cream isn’t essential for everyone in my opinion—some can be perfectly fine just spreading their typical moisturizer under their eyes as well. However, I use a lot of harsh products and live in a place with harsh winters, so my eye area needs some extra love. CATHERINE JINN - Luminous Eye Cream Claims: targets dark circles and puffiness/bags Key ingredients: caffeine, hyaluronic acid, quinoa extract Thoughts: This brand is new to me, but I’m really glad I found them because I love this eye cream. The texture is creamy and feels incredible, and it sinks into my skin with no issues. It also wears very well under makeup, with no pilling. I deal with occasional puffiness under my eyes, and I think the caffeine in this really helps de-puff the area. At $29.97 for .5oz, this is the most affordable of these three. It wins best depuffing because it follows through on that claim, in my experience. DRUNK ELEPHANT - C-Tango Multivitamin Eye Cream Claims: moisturizes, firms, and brightens Key ingredients: five forms of vitamin C, cucumber, and an eight-peptide blend Thoughts: This was the first eye cream I tried with vitamin C in it. Vitamin C works well for me in other face products, and I do think I noticed some brightening effects after using this for a month or so. I like the lighter creme texture, and it also plays well with makeup. I gave it my best brightening award because I did notice some subtle brightening effects, but I’m pretty sure at this point that my dark circles are genetic and will never completely go away. While I do enjoy this eye cream, I would never pay $64 for the full size of .5 oz. It just doesn’t make $64 worth of difference to me. CAUDALIE - Premier Cru Anti-Aging Eye Cream Claims: targets dark circles, puffiness, and fine lines and wrinkles Key ingredients: resveratrol, viniferine, grape seed polyphenols, caffeine, peptides Thoughts: I got this mini as part of a set, and I loooove it. Seriously, using it in the morning is my favorite part of my routine right now. It’s so creamy and moisturizing and I could pat it in all day long. I think it does have an illuminating effect, but I still typically wear concealer over it anyway. It’s so, so moisturizing, and I’ve been loving it during the NY winter which is doing its best to shrivel up all my skin. With that said, the full size is $99 for .5oz. While I love this product and recommend it to anyone looking for a deeply moisturizing, higher-end eye cream, I personally won’t be purchasing the full size because... money. It does win my most moisturizing award though because seriously, this gets the job done.

The drunk elephant b hydra intensive hydration serum is like a cool drink of water for thirsty skin! This can be solutions for dryness, dullness, uneven texture, and uneven skin tone. The texture of this is a lightweight gel that can be mixed with any other oils or serums or can be used alone! I have been using this since May because I recieved it for my birthday and I use this product every time I do my skincare, basically every single day! This is my favorite serum and probably one of my favorite skincare products I have ever used! It is so hydrating for my dry skin, and didn’t break me out. This gave me amazing results in my skins dryness and I will never stop using it! It is a little more pricey but is 100% worth the money! It is $48 for 1.69oz which is a good amount The drunk elephant protini polypeptide moisturizer is a protein moisturizer that combines an unprecedented array and concentration of actives for improvement in the appearance of skins tone, texture, and firmness! It can be solutions for redness, loss of firmness and elasticity, dryness, and dullness and uneven texture. It is great for normal, and oily skin types! The texture of this moisturizer is a thick gel cream, that is very cooling on the skin. I really don’t like this moisturizer and especially for the price. It isn’t hydrating at all and makes my skin greasy. I purchased the littles set from drunk elephant that came with this, but will not be repurchasing! I would definitely not recommend this to others with dry or combo skin! It is not worth it at all, it is so pricey, it’s $68 for 1.69oz. The drunk elephant c tango eye cream is a great one to help moisturize my under eyes in the winter! I love using this at night because my eyes are so hydrated when I wake up the next morning! It is so thick and creamy and makes my under eyes so soft as well! The packaging is so cute and this mini size is great for travel! It is very pricy and sadly won’t be repurchasing because I have other eye creams that do the same things as this one and some that I even like better! Drunk elephant virgin marula facial oil! I love using this oil in my skincare routine so much! I love mixing this with all different Serums for a lot of hydration! I love mixing it with my b hydra serum and my tlc franboos serum from drunk elephant! I definitely see a difference in my skin when I use this! It is great for the winter months! The drunk elephant t.l.c framboos is a an AHA/BHA night serum that refined skin to reveal a smoother and more radiant complexion. It enhances the performance of other products by clearing the way for maximum absorption! It is a gel serum that resurfaces dull skin, gentle lifting dead skin cells away be dissolving the glue that holds them to the surface! It has done wonders for my skin and will forever be repurchasing! Drunk elephant is a brand that I have always been really interested in! I first found in from a friend who showed me all about it about 2 years ago! I immediately got there littles set that they had at the time and loved most of the products! I have now repurchased about 5 of there products in full size and will never stop using the b hydra, tlc, the marula oil! They have been some of my favorite products ever! I definitely recommend drunk elephant to anyone who has never heard and haven’t tried this brand at all, they have amazing products for all skin types!DRUNK ELEPHANT - Virgin Marula Luxury Facial Oil DRUNK ELEPHANT - T.L.C.
