🤦🏻♀️Hyperpigmentation Around The Mouth🙅🏻♀️
You have got great skin. But the one thing that stops you from stepping out naturally without any makeup is the dark skin around your mouth. Is this true? You have tried everything from DIYs to skin lightening creams. But the pigmentation around your mouth has remained your stubborn friend, right Why Is The Skin Around My Mouth Dark? 1. Hyperpigmentation 2. Weather Conditions Sun exposure and darkening of the skin. In very cold weather, if you lick your lips and the area around it too often, it can discolour the skin and make it look darker How Do You Get Rid Of Hyperpigmentation Around The Mouth? 1. Exfoliate If you exfoliate the area around your mouth regularly with a gentle exfoliator, it can remove dead cells and help to lighten the skin. Opt for a chemical exfoliant as it will not scrape the skin which in turn may worsen the condition. 2. OTC Skin-Brightening Creams Skin brightening creams can be effective in reducing the dark area around the mouth. Look for ingredients such as glabridin (a licorice extract), kojic acid, vitamin C, grape seed extract, azelaic acid , arbutin, curcumin or niacinamide, These block the production of tyrosinase which is needed by the skin to make melanin. 3. Acid Peels Your dermatologist may use a salicylic acid or glycolic acid peel to treat the dark skin around your mouth. However, these peels do not offer a permanent solution and the pigmentation can return. These peels penetrate deep into the skin to repair the damaged cells. Post treatment precautions like staying out of the sun, applying sunscreen and protecting the skin can make the effect of the peels last longer 6. Natural Remedies You can also use natural remedies to treat the dark skin around your mouth. Most of these natural ingredients can be found in your kitchen. Unless you have an allergy to any of these, you can try using them to get rid of the pigmented skin. Exfoliate with Papaya Papaya has fruit acids known as alpha-hydroxy acids, which is a chemical exfoliantAHAs are used for dry skin and to anti-age, and works to improve skin by removing the top layers of the skin through weakening the lipids that bond them together, thus removing dull and dead skin cells and revealing healthy skin cells. Soothe Skin and Reduce Spots with Almond Oil The presence of Vitamin E and niacin help with hyperpigmentation and improving skin tone,” she says. Because sweet almond oil is non-comedogenic (meaning it won’t clog your pores) you can add it to your nightly routine as a makeup remover or moisturizer to help protect the skin barrier. Reverse Photo Damage with Tomatoes Tomatoes are naturally rich in lycopene, which has multiple health benefits, including sun protection Brighten with Yogurt breaks down dead skin cells thanks to lactic acid, which is found naturally in dairy products. Using a yogurt with cow’s milk could be effective in calming the skin, since it has lactic acid. Lactic acid is an AHA, which improves discoloration and age spots

Exfoliating Acids x DermDoctor
Exfoliating acids are an amazing addition to your skincare routine! They have multiple benefits including improving skin texture, tone, and uneven pigment. They also have anti-aging benefits and can minimize the appearance of wrinkles! Exfoliating acids should be used no more than 2x per week with leave on products. Face washes with acids can be used more often. Here’s my rules to the roads (there’s always exceptions, of course) and product picks: Glycolic acid: Most effective but can be irritating with sensitive skin or those who are prone to post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation DRUNK ELEPHANT - T.L.C. Framboos Glycolic Resurfacing Night Serum The Ordinary - Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution Salicylic acid: Best for oily, acne-prone skin NATURIUM - BHA Liquid Exfoliant 2% THE inkey LIST - Beta Hydroxy Acid (BHA) Blemish + Blackhead Serum Lactic acid: Best for dry and combination skin. Exfoliates while hydrating, gentle on the skin, and my personal go-to! SUNDAY RILEY - Good Genes All in One Lactic Acid Treatment The Ordinary - Lactic Acid 5% + HA Mandelic acid: Most gentle exfoliating acid. Best for sensitive skin and those prone to post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation The Ordinary - Mandelic Acid 10% + HA #cheriepartner

DE TLC Framboos
What is it? TLC Framboos is an AHA/BHA serum that helps to sluff off those dead skin cells to reveal a more even complexion. It claims to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, minimize pores, help control excess oils and help with discoloration. Some main ingredients are: glycolic acid, tartaric acid, lactic and citric acid, salicylic acid, raspberry fruit extract and many others. It has a high acid concentration at 12% but includes antioxidants and other soothing ingredients like marula oil and white tea leaf extract to help soothe. In my experience this has become a holy grail product for me. It is a clearish gel like serum and I just rub it in after cleansing and toning. I feel it works overnight! If i have any insane texture or congestion this product clears it up right away. I don’t think I’ve used a product that has as dramatic results as this one. When i first started using i would experience a slight tingle that went away within minutes. I like to let this serum soak in for about 15 minutes before applying any moisturizers or oils. I’ve had minimal breakouts when using TLC and whenever my skin freaks out I know this is a product I can always go back to to help fix things up. I’ve never experienced sensitization or extreme dryness after using either. It is super easy to use and the price is pretty up there, but i feel its definitely worth it for the results. I really can’t recommend this enough!!!DRUNK ELEPHANT - T.L.C. Framboos Glycolic Resurfacing Night Serum My rating: 5/5

EXFOLIATING ACIDS & How Not To Overdo It!!!👀✨💖
Exfoliating acids are everywhere now and so many new products are about exfoliating the skin to “reveal brighter, smoother skin”. In the age of exfoliating now, it’s so easy to overdo and can easily result in harming the skin instead. Here are my favorite exfoliating acids (and products) and how I use it so I don’t damage my skin! Lactic Acid: A super gentle acid that exfoliates the top layer of skin and removes dead skin cells. I find this to be the most gentle of the acids and can be used everyday. I love fresh - Black Tea Kombucha Facial Treatment Essence because I use it as an essence treatment. This is a liquid formula that easily sinks into the skin and “primes” the skin for the next products. It’s also a hydrating formula! Azelaic Acid: Another more gentle exfoliating acid that helps improve the appearance of blemishes and fade post-acne marks. I love this PAULA'S CHOICE - 10% Azelaic Acid Booster because it can be mixed into your moisturizer and boost the effectiveness. I love that this speeds up the healing process of my acne marks because then I get clearer skin quicker! Salicylic Acid: One of the most effective exfoliating acids for treating and preventing acne! It exfoliates deep into the layers of skin and removes dead skin cells. PAULA'S CHOICE - Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliator is a super strong and effective formula that I like to use when I’m breaking out A LOT. It’s too harsh on my skin to use daily but once a week is fine. I also love LA ROCHE-POSAY - Effaclar Medicated Gel Cleanser for Acne Prone Skin which I use every night to wash my face. It’s just as effective and not too strong for daily use because it’s a wash off product and doesn’t stay on the skin. Glycolic Acid: Easily one of the strongest and deeply exfoliating acids out there. I find it super effective as a night serum like DRUNK ELEPHANT - T.L.C. Framboos Glycolic Resurfacing Night Serum or as a scrub like ALPHA-H - Micro Super Scrub with 12% Glycolic Acid . I use these products 2 times a week just to keep my skin free of congestion and to maintain the texture of my skin.

Enlarged Pores, Acne, Dull Skin?
When it comes to congestion, acne, blackheads, and dullness, there are a lot of tips and a lot of products that promise smooth, clear skin. So let me simplify why I love these three ingredients for this myriad of issues. • Alpha Hydroxy Acid: Glycolic, lactic, citric, tartaric, mandelic, and malic acid melt the intercellular glue that holds dead skin cells together to your skin’s surface, helping along the skin’s natural shedding process to reveal a smoother, brighter complexion. They’re considered hydrating, since they love water. AHAs offer mainly surface exfoliation, helping with uneven texture and dullness. • Beta Hydroxy Acid: Salicylic acid is the most common BHA, working similarly to AHAs in that they unglue dead skin cells to renew skin’s appearance. It is also oil-soluble, easily passing through sebum to allow BHAs to get into pores for deep exfoliation and normalization of the pore lining. This helps to reduce and prevent congestion, enlarged pores, and acne. • Niacinamide: A water-soluble precursor to two skin compounds that allow skin to repair damage, function normally, and make new skin cells. Topical application of niacinamide not only soothes current inflammation, but also increases the skin’s ability to neutralize free radicals, preventing future irritation and collagen breakdown, making it an awesome ingredient for aging and/or sensitive skin. Another anti-aging and sensitivity bonus: niacinamide helps increase ceramide production, strengthening the lipid barrier and allowing it to retain moisture more effectively. For acne prone folks, there have been two very promising and substantiating studies that show that 4% Niacinamide applied twice daily is as effective for moderate acne as 1% clindamycin. That’s impressive! As well, niacinamide application inhibits oil production, contributing to its skill for keeping pores minimized in appearance as well as reducing acne.

Drunk Elephant Hair & Body Line... On Your Face?
Did y’all know that legitimately every product from the new Drunk Elephant release can be used on the face? That’s how biocompatible and “clean” they are. I will be reviewing the other three products (Shampoo, Conditioner, Deodorant) as facial products as well, since they were also cleared as face-safe 👀 DRUNK ELEPHANT - T.L.C. Happi Scalp Scrub - Babyfacial a bit too much for you? Try Happi Scalp as a once-per-week 10-minute peel, blending physical and chemical exfoliation for baby-soft skin AND a refreshed scalp. The cellulose beads were a gentle and non-irritating scrub that I’m excited to use again! I liked this a lot and feel like the AHA concentration is low enough to allow me to use it once per week versus the two week wait between Babyfacial uses my sensitive skin requires. DRUNK ELEPHANT - Wild Marula Tangle Spray - It makes my hair soft, it makes my face soft, it fits in my purse without threatening to spill, and it’s only $25 USD. I used this as a moisturizing facial spray quite a few times when it was released, but now it’s gotten too hot and humid for liberal oil application on my combo self. But if you have dry skin, this would be an easy way to refresh your skin mid-day. Spritz, pat, enjoy your dewiness. DRUNK ELEPHANT - Kamili Cream Body Cleanser - Beste No 9 a bit too much for your dry skin? Since it’s a cream cleanser, I find Kamili leaves my skin very soft while still cleansing effectively. Since I’m lazy, this has been my go-to shower cleanser for face and body. It did have trouble removing makeup so I’d stick to using it in the AM, after the gym, or when you’re only wearing sunscreen.
