bareMinerals Original Powder Foundation
bareMinerals Original Powder Foundation
I grew up with acne-prone skin, so I was always on the hunt for a healthy, soothing foundation that would cover breakouts without causing more to pop up! And thankfully, I found the bareMinerals Original Powder Foundation after a long and exhausting search (and I’m never going back). An Incredible Formula for Sensitive Skin I’ve been using the bareMinerals Original Powder Foundation for nearly ten years, and I can say with confidence that I will use it for at least ten more. The ingredient list is a whopping six words long, which is impressive considering that many other foundation products are ridden with chemicals and fillers that do your skin more harm than good. If you’re looking for a pure, effective foundation that’s gentle on your skin, then you should consider adding the bareMinerals Original Powder Foundation to your everyday makeup routine. Its light, pigmented formula provides beautiful, buildable coverage that looks incredibly natural and healthy. I always joke that this foundation feels like my “second skin”---it’s nearly undetectable, and sometimes I forget that I’m wearing face makeup at all. The bareMinerals line also boasts an incredible shade range, so you’ll have no problem finding one that matches your skin tone. I use the shade “Medium C25.” On top of that, it’s formulated with SPF 15. So, if you’re like me and always forget to apply sunscreen, this foundation will save your skin from sun damage. Talk about the perfect all-in-one product! How I Apply It I’ve heard many people say that they don’t like mineral foundation because it doesn’t provide enough coverage. However, I beg to differ---the bareMinerals powder foundation gives me flawless, full coverage, but there is a specific way in which I apply it. Using a dense face brush (I find that kabuki brush or a flat, dense brush work best), I buff the powder into my face in circular motions. I concentrate on my cheek area first, then I move to my forehead, and finish by blending it down onto my neck. If I want more coverage, I repeat this cycle and build the color in my problem areas. Here’s a closeup of the brush I use. You can see that the hairs are very dense and stiff, which allows me to buff the powder into my skin and achieve an airbrushed look. If you use a flimsy brush (such as a blush brush or an all-over complexion brush), you won’t be able to concentrate the color and achieve the coverage you desire. So yes! Full coverage is possible with powder foundation---you just have to use this technique to achieve it. Do I Recommend It? ABSOLUTELY! The bareMinerals Original Powder Foundation is extremely gentle on my skin and provides breathable, airbrushed coverage. It doesn’t feel heavy on my skin at all, and it gives me a beautiful, natural complexion.

When you finally hit pan...
When you finally hit pan...
Hitting pan on a product denotes a certain level of commitment! Today I gonna introduce 3 power foundations that I have hit pan on. bareMinerals - Matte Loose Powder Mineral Foundation Broad Spectrum SPF 15 bareMinerals is a brand specializing in mineral makeup. I love their foundation products which offer full coverage and yet are thin and lightweight. They don't clog pores, so are great for acne-prone skin. Perfect for summer. Sekkisei Snow CC Powder This refined, non-drying powder foundation from Sekkisei blends well into the skin. You also don't see traces of touch-ups. It offers a moderate coverage and is not expensive either. GUERLAIN - Lingerie de Peau Compact Powder Foundation Apply with the applicator that comes along with the case, or with your own soft brush after applying sunscreen or primer. It provides a velvety-matte finish when you apply a thin layer. It is buildable for a fuller coverage yet it doesn't feel heavy on the face at all!! Relatively speaking, it doesn't have strong shine control, so those with oily skin can probably only use it in autumn and winter. People with combination skin will need to use this product with an oil control primer in summer. It's very suitable for dry skin in spring and summer but you'll need to use it with moisturizing primer in autumn and winter.

Marshall’s Haul: Deals and Steals!
Marshall’s Haul: Deals and Steals!
If you guys aren’t going to Marshall’s/Ross/TJ Maxx occasionally to peruse their skincare and makeup sections you’re missing out!!! Here are the deals I got (product reviews to come). The pimple patches were actually found at Target, a friend recommended stickers because my skin is too sensitive for acne treatment and I only get the occasional hormonal spot here recently. $7.99 USD alba BOTANICA - Acne Pimple Patch I have been wanting to try FAB’s tinted moisturizer foreverrrr because it has colloidal oatmeal in it which is amazing for my eczema! It is normally $28 though, which is steep for a tinted moisturizer. I got it at Marshall’s for $15.99 IN MY SHADE! Very excited to try this baby out. FIRST AID BEAUTY - Ultra Repair Tinted Moisturizer SPF 30 I love pawpaw ointment! It’s a great multipurpose balm to have on hand (similar to Aquaphor) I haven’t tried this fancy brand yet, I usually use Lucas’ Pawpaw (thank you Australian camp counselor friends) but have heard great things about Dr. Pawpaw (UK-based). This 100 mL tube is usually $25 and I got it for $3.99!!! Dr. PAWPAW - Original Balm And for the STEAL I got Bareminerals original mineral foundation that is normally $32 for $5.99!!! Fun fact, Bareminerals was the first foundation I ever used and I’ve been curious to try it again since I’ve been having so many issues with my skin. Going to try that natural look out again and worst case mix it with a moisturizer if it’s powdery. bareMinerals - Matte Loose Powder Mineral Foundation Broad Spectrum SPF 15 Reviews to come! 💕 Oh and didn’t have time to do the lashes today fingers crossed for tomorrow!

I'd rather use coal than them...
bareMinerals - Matte Loose Powder Mineral Foundation Broad Spectrum SPF 15 I wanted to love this babe considering it's very quick and easy to apply, but every single time I wear this within an hour my entire face turns painfully oily. While I do have a fairly oily t-zone, this makes it unbelievably worse. Didn't cover my dark circles or redness at all. More suitable for those have really nice skin and don't need or want high coverage. bareMinerals - BarePro Stick Concealer The texture is creamy but the coverage is not great. I bought this to cover my dark circles but it doesn't work. Maybe I should have dabbed the concealer many times to get a full coverage. No repurchase. bareMinerals - Prime Time Foundation Primer The texture is so creamy that it felt really greasy on my face .It felt really greasy on my face.  I don't see a real difference in how my foundation sits with this product vs. without it. IF YOU HAVE OILY SKIN DO NOT BUY THIS.

Why I’ll always prefer liquid foundation over mineral powder
Why I’ll always prefer liquid foundation over mineral powder
For years I’ve used the same MAC Face and Body Foundation. I like its dewy look and the consistency makes it easy to blend – it’s water-based and light so it always looks natural. I tend to go for a somewhat bare make-up look and I find even when I use more product, I never get full, thick coverage. I used to use a brush to apply, but a make-up artist told me to use my fingers because with this product you want to blend until it gives you a bit of resistance. I use N1 in winter (because I’m pale and I have pink undertones in my skin) and N2 in summer. I wanted to try something new, and I have friends who swear by bareMinerals – a mineral based foundation that adapts to your natural skin tone. I went for Fair 01 which is the lightest pigment. There are two options, a matte finish and a dewy finish. I chose dewy because it’s the make-up look I like, I find matte reminds me of what I wore in the early 00s (when I made a lot of fashion faux pas). I gave it a go but I only use it occasionally. It does even out the skintone, but I miss the liquid look that gives my skin moisture and makes it look more alive and youthful. I like using Bare Minerals on days when I don’t want to wear much make-up. It’s good for really hot days, because in summer liquid foundation can smudge, and if I’m going out at night I will apply powder over liquid foundation for more coverage. BareMinerals is a nice-to-have, but of the two I’ll stick by liquid.
