I have oily skin and make up never seems to last too long. Over the years I’ve learned some ways to get more out of my makeup but ultimately the oil always wins. I also have hyperpigmentation all over my face so my makeup always needs to be full coverage so I can conceal it. When it comes to foundation I have tried both liquid and powder. Which is best for my oily skin? Liquid Foundation: when wearing a liquid foundation I’ve found that mattifying foundations are a must! It may look matte on the skin for a short while but when your skin is oily like mine you’ll end up looking dewy. I find that liquid foundations often look more skinlike than powder foundations however it is so hard to find the perfect shade my face always ends up looking a little lighter or darker than the rest of my body. Too much foundation can make my skin look cakey. Powder Foundation: i feel like powder foundations are easier to match to skin tone and easier to build up without looking cakey. However, powder foundations make my skin look dull even when using a highlighter and when combined with a mattifying primer and leave dry/flakey spots on the skin. Verdict: though there are pros and cons to both types of foundation I like liquid foundation better. It helps achieve a radiant skinlike look that I love! SEPHORA COLLECTION - Matte Perfection Powder Foundation My favorite matte powder foundation is actually from the Sephora brand. I use the color 16 - Cool linen. It has a medium coverage, but is definitely buildable - if I want a light look I use a brush, if I need it a be a bit heavier handed, I use the sponge it comes with. It has a creamy pressed powder texture. It’s meant for combination or oily skin, but I have normal to dry skin, and I would say it still works great for me. Sometimes I see a little flakiness on my nose, but I think that’s on days I don’t drink enough water and haven’t used enough moisturizer. I would def recommend this powder foundation, it’s the only one I’ll ever use. And it helps that it’s only $20!
