Review My PM Skincare Routine 🌙
Review My PM Skincare Routine 🌙
I’m beginning my first week of a structured nighttime skin routine! I’ve been playing around a few weeks now and doing a LOT of research before deciding on the plan. So here it is! Areas to address: -Large pores -Flares of cystic acne -Scars from previous cystic acne -Mascne DRUNK ELEPHANT - E-Rase Milki Micellar Water First I always start by removing the day’s makeup. It’s a rare day where I don’t wear at least foundation and mascara. I just received this sample from Drunk Elephant and have used a few days now and it has been working VERY well for me. I plan to do a post on makeup removers in the future, but I am purchasing the full size of this one ASAP! TULA SKINCARE - The Cult Classic Purifying Face Cleanser After removing the makeup, I move onto cleansing. My skin loves probiotics in a cleanser, so I decided to try Tula’s cleanser since the brand touts probiotics. This cleanser has a gel consistency and a strange smell I don’t care for, but my face does feel clean after using. I don’t love this as much as I had hoped and probably won’t repurchase, but it hasn’t caused anything bad to happen. COSRX - Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence The Ordinary - Marine Hyaluronics After cleansing, I apply Cosrx snail mucin or marine Hyaluronics. Yes, at first it seemed pretty weird to use snail mucin, but my face LOVES this stuff. It definitely helps tone down redness and is super hydrating. Cosrx is a thicker, kind of stretchy consistency that seems more hydrating than the marine Hyaluronics. I like both products and alternate based on how dry my skin feels. The Ordinary - Lactic Acid 10% + HA After adding hydration I will use lactic acid or a retinol serum or will skip this step altogether if using a mask treatment that day. Right now I’m using lactic acid just twice a week but love the way my skin feels the next morning after use. OR Kate Somerville - +Retinol Vita C Power Serum Since I’m just starting to add a retinol Serum into my routine I’m only using this twice a week also and not on the same nights I use lactic acid to avoid irritation. This product has a pretty strong citrus smell which I don’t mind and goes smoothly. So far so good! After finishing with the serums, I finish with a moisturizer! On nights I don’t use a retinol serum I’ve been using OLAY - Regenerist Retinol24 Night Moisturizer My skin feels amazing after putting it on and I have not had any dryness or irritation from it and I’m about a month in using it. I noticed a difference in redness the morning after I started using it! On nights I’ve used a retinol serum (stronger retinol than the moisturizer) I use my standby moisturizer Neutrogena - Neutrogena Hydroboost Water Gel Moisturizer Questions, comments, tips? Lmk!

A new highlight in my nighttim
A new highlight in my nighttime routine is this kate Somerville skincare Retinol + Vitamin C Power serum. I was so intrigued when this launched because I wanted to see how two powerful active ingredients could work together. There are myths out there that these two ingredients can’t be used together but that is not true! Just like how vitamins work together when combined (like vitamin C and E), retinol has been proven to be more effective when paired with vitamin C. Retinol acts to firm up your skin while vitamin C acts to brighten up your skin – and the two combined, they work to really protect your skin barrier and help fight free radicals! 💫 I’ve been testing this out for over a month now and finally here to report my results. Texture is this silky formula that I wouldn’t describe as creamy but still melts on to your skin and leaves zero residue or sticky feeling. My favorite part about this is actually its slight citrusy scent. I love citrusy scents in skincare so this was a winner for me. The biggest difference I noticed from using this is just the overall texture of my skin – it is much smoother and fades out my dark spots. I’ve had absolutely zero irritations from using this product but I’d recommend you guys to spot test beforehand. I feel like the pump is so small that I feel like I have to use a couple of pumps to cover my face but maybe that was on purpose to make people use it sparingly…other than that, this was a huge win for me & now I need another bottle! 💫

Old vs New - Serum Edition
Old vs New - Serum Edition
I recently used up my night serum (the KS retinol one) at the same time I finished my morning one, so decided to use one that’s a morning and night one so I can use the product up faster! . Kate Somerville - +Retinol Vita C Power Serum has a nice white color to it that feels lightweight and quickly and easily absorbs into the skin. It has a typical cream-like serum consistency and a strong orange scent to it, so I would avoid if you are sensitive to fragrances. It is almost to the point of being overpowering, but I enjoy the orange scent. This serum combines retinol (visibly improves skin firmness and textures, along with smoothing fine lines and wrinkles) and L-ascorbic acid (the most pure form of Vitamin C, it helps brighten and even skin tone). Due to this serum having retinol, it is strictly to be used at night and in conjunction with sunscreen. I used up two of these size samples and man was I so impressed! I saw my skin tone become more even and my acne scars seemed to diminish. I also noticed that my pores weren’t as noticeable and I didn’t break out as often. I was expecting this to really dry out my skin since this was my first time using retinol, but even with using this nightly, I didn’t experience any sort of dryness, peeling, or uncomfortable side effects. The only reason I didn’t and probably won’t repurchase is because the full size is $98 for 1 oz 😱😭 I can’t ever see myself spending that much on one serum, maybe if it was half off? But definitely not on my current budget when I spend anymore than that, even though I really enjoyed this product. . CAUDALIE - Vinopure Skin Perfecting Serum is my new serum I rotated in for day and night use. It is a pore-minimizing gel serum that addresses blackheads, pores, breakouts, and excess oil. It is a clear gel-like consistency that dries down sticky and can easily pill. The worst part is the overpowering and nauseating essential oil/herbal scent. I typically don’t have an issue with fragrance, but this one is almost to the point of being unbearable, so I would definitely stay away if you are sensitive to fragrances. I’ve been using it for about a week and a half now and haven’t noticed any sort of benefits from using it, if anything a few more breakouts. The cost is more affordable at $49 for 1 oz, but I wouldn’t ever purchase the full size of this due to the fragrance.

Here’s some Empties
Here’s some Empties
🍇 So I’ve been hoarding my empties for awhile now (and there’s going to have to be a second empties post because there are many more) and they’re starting to take over my bathroom so let’s talk about them so I can throw them away. 🍇 Missha The First Treatment Essence Intensive Moist: First of all I take issue that the words “intensive moist” are printed on the bottle. Aside from that this was a nice lightweight, hydrating essence with the key ingredient being purple barley ferment (90% to be exact). As much as I love the idea of fermented ingredients, my skin doesn’t really respond to them. So I probably would not repurchase, but if ferment works for you this is a lovely essence. 🍇 Krave Beauty The Beet Shield: I love Krave Beauty’s products and this sunscreen is no exception. This is a lightweight, milky SPF 50 PA++++ sunscreen containing several skin protecting antioxidants. Wears beautifully under makeup. Would definitely purchase again. 🍇 Kate Somerville Retinol Vita C Power Serum: A potent retinol serum with vitamin C. While this is about a 1% retinol, I did not notice any irritation (although my skin is basically bulletproof at this point). The addition of vitamin C left my skin looking incredibly bright, firm, and plump. Would 1000% buy again. 🍇 Farmacy Beauty Very Cherry Bright Vitamin C Serum. I LOVE this vitamin C. It’s lightweight, hydrating, plumping, and brightening. Would and have purchased again. 🍇 Sunday Riley Juno Oil. My favorite oil. This stuff makes my skin look so glowy and healthy. I’ve been through about four bottles now. An absolute holy grail product. Would and have purchased again.

My Picks for Vitamin C Serums
My Picks for Vitamin C Serums
#RX Glow Skincare - Vitamin C Serum[products]#[FiveStars] I have many choices of Vitamins C Serums that actually work. Here’s why? So a lot of people ask me what do I use on my skin, because it always looks so dewy and it glows. Well, I’m proud and honored to have a friend who’s also a MD. she wanted more skin care products that actually work for our skin. So she formulated an amazing Vitamin C product that will actually give you results. I love it! It became my favorite product thus far. I personally tend to get dry, or patchy skin at times. So to brighten my skin and help boost collagen and to keep that bounce In my skin. Vitamin C is great for bringing back that bounce and texture. It actually helps slough off dry flaky skin. And underneath that new skin appears. I use the Vitamin C serum right before bed and in the morning when I wash & cleanse my face. The ingredients are amazing. She even added Citrus stem cells in it. I want to highlight the Kate S
I want to highlight the Kate Somerville Retinol Vitamin C serum. I've used this for the past week, and have seen results. No baloney. It is powerful stuff. I know.. I know.. How can you give a review after one week? Well cause I can, and it left my skin smooth and bright. I need to start taking pictures of my skin every day because I noticed the texture of my skin is smoother (even if it's only perceptible to me). It definitely is not for the sensitive skinned. And at $98 for a full-size bottle, this isn't for my unemployed wallet quite yet, but if you are looking for something to really kick start your skincare results.. this might be it.
