The Do’s and Don’ts for Oily, Acne Prone Skin
The Do’s and Don’ts for Oily, Acne Prone Skin
Knowing your skin type and skin condition is the first step to treating it. I personally have dehydrated yet oily acne prone skin. The right type of products in a routine can make a huge difference. *Disclaimer: I love all the products above except the Clinique toner (Dont use this please). I will explain below why things are good or bad for acne. Step 1: Cleanse Do - Use gel cleanser like the FARMACY - Clean Bee Ultra Gentle Facial Cleanser . The gel formula will deep cleanse the face without stripping. Don’t - Use a cream cleanser like the GEORGETTE KLINGER - Green Tea Cream Cleanser . This is more geared towards dry skin. It will cleanse and hydrate but won’t give you the deep cleanse oily/acne prone skin needs. Step 2: Treat Do - Use a product with salicylic acid like PAULA'S CHOICE - Skin Perfecting 2% BHA (Salicylic Acid) Liquid Exfoliator . Salicylic acid is oil soluble and will dive deep into your pores breaking up any sebum or debris. Don’t - Use something with detnatured alcohol like the CLINIQUE - Clarifying Lotion 3 . It may feel good at first but the alcohol is stripping your skin and does more harm than good. In the end your face will over compensate for the stripping effect and produce more oil. Step 3: Moisturize Do - Use a gel moisturizer like the FIRST AID BEAUTY - Ultra Repair BarriAIR Cream Safe for Sensitive Skin . I love this because it is free of a lot of skin irritants like fragrance and dyes. The gel formula won’t feel too heavy on the skin but will give you all the hydration benefits you need. Don’t- Use a heavy, cream moisturizer like the Milk MAKEUP - Vegan Milk Moisturizer . Heavy creams are more geared for dry skin. For oily skin it will just sit on top potentially clogging pores (plus I do believe this has some comedogenic ingredients). These are basic steps I’ve been using for a while to make my skin routine the best is can be for my skin concern. If you have any questions about any steps or products let me know below. 🖤 /*some products gifted

First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair BarriAir Cream ($30/1.5oz) What it is: A light-as-air cream-to-foam moisturizer that helps repair the skin barrier and provide adaptable hydration. For: Normal, Combination and Oily Skins. Skincare Concerns: Dryness, Dullness and Uneven Texture, and Fine Lines and Wrinkles Texture: Lightweight Cream. My Experience: I tested this product for about 2 months and I prefered to use it during warmer weather. It is the dreamiest moisturizer I have ever tried! It has the most unique and coolest texture! It is light as air (hence the name) and it is really foamy. It actually grows when it reacts to air, which it is super cool, giving it the “cloud-like“ texture, but the formula does not change only the texture. It is extremely lightweight but immensely hydrating at the same time, making it perfect for my oily, prone to dehydration skin. And it retails for only $30. It contains lipids that are very similar to the composition of our skin barrier, therefore BarriAir Cream helps to fortify our skin and maintain its healthy state. The formula is genius! It contains ceramides, linoleic acid, hyaluronic acid (in 3 different molecular weights, therefore it is able to reach multiple levels of the skin), and colloidal oatmeal, which all fully hydrate and replenish the skin. It is noncomedogenic, fragrance free, hypoallergenic, and safe for sensitive skins. Basically, everything I love and want in a product! The only downsize is the packaging since the jar packaging exposes the ingredients to air and light, causing them to loose their effectiveness. If they would change the packaging I would repurchase it in a heart beat and recommend it 100% because of its performance and amazing price. My Post-Pool Skin Rehydration Routine!
My Post-Pool Skin Rehydration Routine!
Been really enjoying time by the pool lately but the challenge is how much chlorine ruins the skin. Whenever I go swimming, shower and get to my skincare routine, I have to make a few tweaks to avoid dryness and hypopigmentation. I pretty much treat my skin like I will get eczema. Here’s what I do: make p:rem - Safe Me. Relief Moisture Cleansing Foam Cleanser: Instead of focusing on a double cleanse to remove makeup, I am more concerned about washing off all the polar molecules and ions (like Chlorine) off my face so a very foaming cleanser like this one works great. sioris - Time Is Running Out Mist Toner: since I’ve already done my morning routine, I just use this toner to prep my skin for the heavier products I’m about to use. FIRST AID BEAUTY - Ultra Repair BarriAIR Cream Safe for Sensitive Skin Rehydrating cream: usually I just use sunscreen as my moisturizer but after the pool, it’s simply not enough. To prevent any patchy eczema, I use this soothing colloidal oatmeal cream to keep my TE barrier protected. PURITO - Centella Green Level Unscented Sun SPF50+ SPF: opt for a lighter non water proof sunscreen especially if you’re gonna go outside again or sit by the pool! Just make sure you apply waterproof sunscreen if you’re going for another swim! Cheers to summer☀️

First Aid Beauty; mini brand review part 2
First Aid Beauty; mini brand review part 2
I didn’t think I’d hit character limit on my first post so here is part two of my First Aid Beauty mini review! If you have any comments on want more in-depth reviews please comment! FIRST AID BEAUTY - Ultra Repair BarriAIR Cream Safe for Sensitive Skin - I absolutely loved this product but I do recognize the texture is not for everyone. It has this really unique gel texture that can almost feel a little slimey but once you work it into the skin it does absorb really well. It’s perfect for those with oily skin. It will keep you hydrated without feeling heavy. I do feel though because the product bubbles on top I went through it really fast. FIRST AID BEAUTY - Ultra Repair Oat & Hemp Seed Dry Oil - My favorite dry oil! Because it is a dry oil it absorbs a lot faster into the skin without leaving a greasy mess making it perfect for all skin types. It has colloidal oatmeal to soothe the skin and cannabis sativa seed oil which is a really great hydrator. They work together to help calm and soothe the skin. This also helped reduce a lot of redness in my skin. FIRST AID BEAUTY - Ultra Repair Hyaluronic Hydrating Primer - I got this in gratis at work and while I think it’s a decent primer it’s not my favorite. To me it smells like cucumber nair (which none of my coworkers smell so it could just be me). I do have oily skin though so I recognize it’s not for my skin type but it almost feels like a lightweight moisturizer in the skin. I do think it is worth a shot for those with dry skin. FIRST AID BEAUTY - FAB Pharma Arnica Relief & Rescue Mask - This is like their Instant Oatmeal mask’s cooler, older sister. If you have irritated skin you’re going to love this. Arnica is the highlighted ingredient which stimulates blood cell activity to help increase skin healing time and reduce inflammation. It helps reduce the appearance of redness, dehydration, irritation, stress, and tightness. It’s so unique as it’s not like your regular wash off mask. You apply it and as time goes on the mask absorbs into the skin. At the end of 15 minutes you can either towel off excess or rub in what’s left over. It leaves your skin super smooth and hydrated. It has a whipped texture and slightly blue tint from blue tansy oil. I’ve been also loving this after using a chemical exfoliator as it’s gentle but reduces any irritation I might have.

Light as Air ☁️
Light as Air ☁️
The other day I officially finished my second jar of the FIRST AID BEAUTY - Ultra Repair BarriAIR Cream Safe for Sensitive Skin 💙 This is probably one of the most unique moisturizers I’ve ever used. Every time you open it you’re greeted with this cool foamy layer and underneath is the solid, lightweight cream layer. First Aid Beauty claims this light as air moisturizer helps repair the skin barrier (which is so important! This uppermost layer helps protect against Trans Epidermal Water Loss as well as keeping out damaging elements) as well as adding proper hydration. It contains ceramides to strengthen and moisturize, hyaluronic acid to boost skins moisture content as well as plump and smooth the skin, oxygen to help active ingredients penetrate better, and colloidal oatmeal to soothe the skin. I found myself coming back to this moisturizer every time I felt like my skin was getting dehydrated. When I needed a little boost or my skin was irritated for whatever reason this is what I reached for. It’s really cool every time you open it to see the layer of bubbles on top. Underneath is the actual moisturizer which, besides the Glow Recipe Sleeping Mask, is one of the most unique textures I’ve felt. It’s not your typical cream. It almost has this airy, whipped feeling to it. Like the first time you use this it’s going to feel so weird but as it absorbs it feels really lightweight and nourishing. I also suffer from eczema a lot which is why I like First Aid Beauty as a brand so much because they don’t formulate with irritants like fragrance and are safe for eczema prone skin. I received my two jars from gratis but this is something I’d completely purchase in the future.

Protect Moisture Barrier
Protect Moisture Barrier
A few weeks ago I messed up my moisture barrier and became super dehydrated. Skin felt tight and gross and started to break out a bit. I attributed to the new normal of quarantine from simply not getting any fresh air, but lets face it, I probably over-masked (because really what else are we doing in self isolation?) I realized I have very minimal repairing products, but thankfully I had these two in my travel bag. I quickly used the Lotus Rescue mask and my skin felt immediately nourished and rehydrated. I then followed with a face oil and FAB BarriAIR Moisturizer and used that consistently for the rest of the week and my skin was back to normal within days, i also kept the routine to a minimum.. didnt bother with toners, essences, double serums, just some nourishing face oils and this FAB moisturizer which, honestly, SO BOMB. I think its a beautifully unique and innovative product, theres literally pockets of air in the formula which I think contributes to the hydration and moisture process for the skin. Feels so refreshing. This combination for a 4-5 days had my skin back to normal and looking and feeling healthy and glowy again.
