BYE BYE HAIR STATIC!!! best products + tips 💖✨
As the seasons change, the weather gets drier and static will inevitably start to frizz up our hair. It’s the most frustrating thing to get rid of when you’re out and about but have hair flying around. Here are my tips for preventing static-y hair. What you need to know about static is that it’s created when your hair is constantly rubbing against itself or against something else, like a top you’re wearing. 1) Keep your hair hydrated and moisturized. I love using oils like OLAPLEX - No. 7 Bonding Oil or KRISTIN ESS - Weightless Shine Working Serum because they’re perfect to apply before and after heat styling. They’re both able to protect your hair from heat and smooth flyaways. It also keeps your ends sealed, smooth and shiny. (I’m using the Olaplex No.7 Bonding Oil in the picture above). 2) Use a styling cream in your hair to add some texture and hold in your hair. More texture and hold means theres less of a chance your hair will rub against itself or against other things and create static. My favorites are OLAPLEX - No. 6 Bond Smoother Reparative Styling Creme and HAIRSTORY - HAIRSTORY Hair Balm . Both extremely similar in texture- just a thick cream- that warms up in your hands nicely and distributes wet on wet and dry hair. It adds a little bit of texture and shine, and can also help hairstyles last longer! Let me know if you’ve tried these products for preventing hair static and what you think!

Star Players of OLAPLEX 🌟 Shiny & Damage Free
I’ve been bleaching my hair in various ways since middle school, and over the years it’s racked up damage. Dry, brittle, lackluster, and easily tangled. However, after discovering these key products from Olaplex as well as some curly hair techniques like dirty deep conditioning (my fav with step three, i leave it on dry hair for an hour minimum) and product application methods, I’m happy to say my hair is strong, soft, shiny and manageable. With water soluble silicones, these products work for most hair types and routines, unless it’s truly a no-silicone routine. Though silicones are often thought to weigh hair down (a compromise for shine and anti-frizz), these products leave my curls or blowout weightless and wash out easily with my sulfate free shampoo. Being gluten free and containing more “clean” ingredients, there’s nothing in here that triggers my eczema or dermatitis. Though they contain fragrance, I don’t find it to be overpowering and I don’t mind it in my hair care. OLAPLEX - No. 3 Hair Perfector makes my hair soft and manageable on its own, and after just two uses I noticed a difference in brittleness being lessened along with tangles— which is crazy for me with years of bleach damage and trying almost everything on the market! When you layer it with OLAPLEX - No. 6 Bond Smoother Reparative Styling Creme frizz is drastically cut, and I love the extra shine it gives. Tip— mix it with OLAPLEX - No. 7 Bonding Oil for extra shine and bounce, along with heat and UV Protection and frizz réduction.

Get Smooth and Voluminous Natural Curls
A good diffuser has leveled up my curly girl game. I got the drybar - Buttercup Blow Dryer on sale during Christmas. While it’s the nicest hair dryer i’ve owned and it works well, it’s extremely heavy and my arms get so tired diffusing on low/no heat. Because it takes me about an hour to diffuse my hair (I have a lot), something that is equally professional and lightweight is very important to me. I prefer a mix of hover and pixie diffusing, and the drybar - The Bouncer Diffuser works well for both of these. I love the wide mouth, it fits all my curls in very easily. However, a star has also been knocked off for the weight of the product as is makes the end of the blow drier even heavier. I start upside down after plopping, hovering all over my head in sections, taking extra time on the more porous areas that take longer to dry. After it’s about 30% dry, I switch to pixie diffusing, side to side and right side up until almost dry. Do this carefully so as not to encourage frizz!Flip upside down and fluff roots, and done! I finish with OLAPLEX - No. 6 Bond Smoother Reparative Styling Creme to tame any fly-aways and add shine. No cons to this product, it smells heavenly and works great— not heavy or greasy. Overall, these two products are durable and professional I will gladly continue to use them. However, I wish I would have gotten the travel size rather than full size blowdryer to make it easier and not so much of an arm workout diffusing my curls.

😳Why box dye is TERRIBLE for your hair
As some of you may know by now, I am a licensed cosmetologist. I see TONS of clients everyday and a large amount of my new clients are color corrections. What’s a color correction? Wells color correction is usually a pricey service that a hairstylist does once your hair is compromised from box dye...or maybe you gave yourself a hOMBRÈ. Yeah I called you out😂 This service is so pricey because it can take HOURS to fix this situation. This haircolor, took FIVE hours. She had three layers of red box dye in her hair and about two inches of regrowth that was lighter than the red. Trust me I wanted to cry when I saw it. This is every hairstylists worst nightmare. A client wanting to be blonde but their red. Lol not gonna happen. As you can see, there’s still some red, that’s where she really overlapped her box dyes. Box dyes are progressive dyes that really buildup on the hair. They have metallic salts that can build up and reeeaally dry out the hair....not fun. If I do a color correction over boxed hair I will seriously FORCE clients to get Olaplex added to the color and lightener. It’s soo damaged just in general and it’ll be worse after a huge chemical service like this one! Use these to prevent any further damage OLAPLEX - No. 4 Bond Maintenance Shampoo OLAPLEX - No.5 Bond Maintenance Conditioner amika: - The Wizard Detangling Primer OLAPLEX - No. 6 Bond Smoother Reparative Styling Creme KEVIN.MURPHY - Smooth.Again

You know, not all balayages need to be low, I freehand painted this one up to her scalp! It gives her such a beautifully blended look. I kept lots of dark pieces in so when it grows out, it’d look natural! This client only comes in twice a year and she always tells me “all my friends this I get my hair done monthly because it grows out so beautifully and blended”. That’s a HUGE thing. Nowadays people don’t want to spend hundreds of dollars every month to take care of their hair, so this is a more affordable way to add some dimension and not break the bank! (Even though I would love to see you more than twice a year, please get regular haircuts so we can grow your hair out) I used a nice violet tone in her hair to give it extra light/icy pieces throughout! Toner doesn’t last forever, but this one is my go to!! Products used: OLAPLEX - No. 4 Bond Maintenance Shampoo OLAPLEX - No.5 Bond Maintenance Conditioner OLAPLEX - No. 6 Bond Smoother Reparative Styling Creme (a true life saver I might add) KEVIN.MURPHY - Body Mass KEVIN.MURPHY - Anti.Gravity Spray KEVIN.MURPHY - Bedroom.Hair KEVIN.MURPHY - Shimmer.Shine KEVIN.MURPHY - Smooth.Again ...yes I use tons of products but your hair feels and smells so amazing afterwards, you won’t want to wash your hair😂
Will sunflower hair be the next fall trend?! This gorgeous color was achieved with a lot of lightening, but we got exactly where we wanted! To achieve this color it took a few steps, we had to pre lighten her hair. Prelightening is used for vivid colors. You ever wondered why you put splat or manic panic on your dark hair and nothing happened? Your hair wasnt light enough for the color to deposit. After we prelightened the ends and the midstrand I went ahead and added a beautiful mahogany color to her roots. This was a Demi-permanent haircolor which means it will fade as your hair grows out which is extremely useful for a haircolor that’s darker than your own! It’s really easy to remove over time. I then added in the fantasy colors (yellow and orange) to the midstrand and ends! I mixed a few colors together to achieve the perfect shades of yellow and orange because at the time I had highlighted yellow and neon orange😂 hairstylists work with what they can sometimes😂 these fantasy colors are semi-permanent so I had to blow dry the hair beforehand to make sure the color deposited, as well as leaving it on for 40 minutes to get the color to its maximum strength. You know what they don’t tell you before you get a fun vivid color like this? You have to wash with COLD water😂 like actually freezing water! I suggest to clients that they should wash their hair in the sink and then take a warm shower after because no one wants to take a frozen shower!
