A little background about thisGLOW RECIPE - Watermelon + AHA Glow Sleeping Mask . It is a hydrating and lightly exfoliating nighttime mask that retails for $45 USD for 80 ml and $22 USD for 30 ml. It’s also made for all skin types. I used this mask once a week for a month and a half. My first impression was that, like most of their products, it smells so good I want to eat it. Their watermelon scent is just like sour watermelon candy and not too overpowering either. Upon my first application, I noticed that it has a very thick slip to it, similar to a facial oil. I thought this was the natural separation but even after mixing the mask, the same thing happened. I don’t think it affected the performance of the mask, but it did make washing it off my hands a little bit of a hassle. Just make sure to mix it well to minimize this! I have sensitive skin, so I opted to wear the mask for about 3 hours instead of overnight. I used a nickel-sized amount, and that was enough to cover my whole face. One feature of this mask is that it’s supposed to be pillow-proof. I haven’t tested that myself, but I can say that the mask dries down completely and no residue comes off when I tap or rub my face. If you plan to wear it to sleep, I recommend waiting at least ten minutes before coming in contact with your sheets! And unlike some exfoliating masks, this one didn’t give me the “exfoliating” sensation as it dried down. All in all, this mask is pretty comfortable to wear throughout the night (or day) and it isn’t tightening on the face. Towards the end of the 3 hours, I noticed some peeling around my inner cheek area and forehead. Glow Recipe said that this effect is normal – it’s just the exfoliating part of the mask doing job. I used a warm washcloth to remove the mask (didn’t experience the weird slip like when washing it off my hands) and saw the usual things I experience after face masks. My skin was soft and looked a little more luminescent. One difference I did see was that the pores around my chin were significantly cleared up! I usually get most of my white heads in that area and this mask totally erased them. That was an unexpected yet huge plus for this mask! For the following weeks, I went through the same process and saw similar results each time. The mask is good for upkeep in the sense that my pores stayed clean and I kept my skin cell turnover high. I wouldn’t call this mask a hero product, but it certainly is a pretty darn good one! I really enjoy the experience of putting it on and would recommend the mini size to anyone who wants to try. A little goes a long way and it’s not something you use everyday. I like mild products like this that still allows me to get the resurfacing effect I’m looking for every now and then. And it’s such a cute present to gift your fellow skincare pals :) #CherieCreator

Oily skin moisturizer awards 🤩
Oily skin moisturizer awards 🤩
To piggy back on my “oily skin still needs a moisturizer” post I thought I’d present my oily skin moisturizer awards to give a boost to three of my favorites. I wanted to start this out by stating I do have very oily skin. My main concerns are large appearing pores, uneven skin tone, dullness/dehydration. My Holy Grail Moisturizer - FARMACY - Daily Greens Oil-Free Gel Moisturizer with Moringa and Papaya If I had to pick one moisturizer to use for the rest of my life this would be it. For $38 you get 1.7oz of whipped hydration. Despite it being a whipped gel texture it’s very lightweight on the skin. A little goes a very long way as it smooths on to give your face the hydration it needs without it feeling heavy. Farmacy claims it has moringa seed extract and moringa water to remove skin impurities while papaya extract gentle exfoliates the skin. I have seen a little difference in the appearance of my pores while using this. I think the only turn off to this product is the very strong sweet smell it has. Best Moisturizer for Oily yet Sensitive Skin - CLINIQUE - Dramatically Different Hydrating Jelly This is my go to moisturizer for myself when my skin is freaking out and I need to take a step back from my routine. It’s also what I recommend to customers at work if they have oily yet sensitive skin. It’s one of the best no nonsense moisturizers on the market. It’s fragrance free, dye free, sulfate free, and oil free. The jelly is super lightweight and feels very hydrating on the skin. It contains sunflower seed cake, barley extract, and cucumber fruit extract to help strengthen the skin’s moisture barrier which is paramount of sensitive or compromised skin. For $28 you get 4.2 oz of product which will last you a while. They also have iD cartridges you can put into it which dispense serum into the moisturizer. The one I have above targets pores which is a concern of mine. It helps bring my skin back to its normal state when irritated while delivering the hydration I need. Best Exfoliating Moisturizer for Oily Skin - GLOW RECIPE - Watermelon + AHA Glow Sleeping Mask Exfoliation is important for oily skin! When I do take a step back from my normal exfoliators I like to use this product in its place. The texture of it isn’t for anyone. It does have a more gloopy formula but I feel like once I work it into the skin it absorbs really nicely. For $45 you get 2.7 oz of product. It has hyaluronic acid and glycerin to hydrate the skin and glycolic and lactic acid to help exfoliate. When I do use this I tend to use it every other day because I don’t want to over do it (even though it is more on the gentle side of chemical exfoliators). When I do use this I notice my skin is extremely soft and hydrated in the morning. It also smells of watermelon jolly ranchers which is amazing!

Does “oily skin” need moisturizer? Myth busted.Does “oily skin” need moisturizer? Myth busted.
Does “oily skin” need moisturizer? Myth busted.
A common question I get at work is “Do I still need a moisturizer if I have oily skin?”. I’m not sure when or where this myth started but a lot of people I’ve encountered have been told in the past that if you have oily skin adding a moisturizer on top is going to make your oils worse. This couldn’t be farther from the truth! Every skin type can benefit for a moisturizer, you know have to find the right one. When you cleanse your skin you have potential to strip it if it’s natural oils. In order to keep balance you have to supplement it with hydrating ingredients. I know the go to thought process with oily skin would be to take away those oils (maybe with stripping ingredients like alcohol filled toners) but if you pair it with the right moisturizer you’ll actually feel more balanced. I learned in esthetics school about the three basic types of moisturizers. You have humectants (which attract water), emollients (which smoothes the skin by filling in dry patches), and occulsives (which form a protective layer). With oily skin you’ll want to focus on humectants because you need less “oily” ingredients and more “watery” ones. These will be mainly found in gel formulas. They will be lightweight enough on the skin to where you don’t feel heavy and gross but give you the hydration your skin craves. Some of my favorites are the GLOW RECIPE - Watermelon + AHA Glow Sleeping Mask , Farmacy Daily Greens, and the Clinique ID series with the clear gel base. In the long run using gel moisturizers will actually help contribute to balancing your oil production and your skin will thank you in the long run. 🖤

Why You Should Be Exfoliating Once a Week 🖤
Why You Should Be Exfoliating Once a Week 🖤
Exfoliation is the process where we remove dead skin from the surface of our skin. It is so important to remove these dead skin cells so they don’t build up. If they do it’s very easy for sebum to get trapped underneath without being able to escape which in turn causes break outs. It also creates a barrier where your products don’t properly penetrate the skin making them less effective than they could be. I have oily yet dehydrated acne prone skin so my favorite way to exfoliate is to use Glycolic Acid. It is an AHA which helps loosen up the bonds that keep dead skin cells on the face. It also has the ability to really get down in the follicle and loosen up any built up sebum that could lead to break outs making it great for oily or acne prone skin. So far my favorite product with this ingredient is the StriVectin - Glycolic Skin Reset Mask . It’s really pricy at $59 but I’ve seen really good results using this weekly. ALWAYS read the instructions on the back when working with acids. I only leave this mask on for 5 minutes once a week. The first time I used this it felt a little uncomfortable but it’s something your skin has to get used to if you’re new to acids (I would also always patch test when using acids). I’ve been using this weekly for months (a little goes a long way) and I barely have break outs anymore. A lot of texture has left my face and it’s super smooth. Another cheaper option is the pixi - Glow Tonic and the pixi - Glow Glycolic Boost Brightening Face Mask Sheet . This is a leave on treatment I would do after my cleanser. They advertise it for daily use but I wouldn’t purely for the fact this dried my face out if I used it daily. I did see decent results with it but it wasn’t worth the continued use. It also has a lot of fragrance as well that I’m not a fan of for leave on products. If you have sensitive skin a more gentle option is the GLOW RECIPE - Watermelon + AHA Glow Sleeping Mask . I absolutely love this for night time. If you have oily skin like me you can get away with using this as your moisturizer. If you don’t and still want to use it I would recommend this be the last step before your moisturizer so it can still penetrate the skin and your moisturizer locks the product in. It’s a very unique textured gel moisturizer. For me personally it doesn’t feel sticky or tacky once it’s absorbed but you do have to work the product in til it is absorbed. It’s super gentle and can be used nightly. It does have fragrance (which smells like amazing jolly ranchers) but with its Clean At Sephora seal it has less than 1% fragrance which I’m okay with unlike the Pixi Toner. There are definitely other exfoliating acids out there (like lactic or malic) but for oily, acne prone skin I prefer glycolic. If you have any questions about acids please let me know 🖤 and always patch test before you use them as well as read the instructions!

Products for pores!
Products for pores!
🐰My skin type/concerns- I have very dry skin in the winter and a normal skin type during the summer! Occasionally I will get bad acne throughout the year, I also have bad redness and hyperpigmentation, and pores! 🐰this review is for products I have tried to minimize my pores! ✅worked ❌didn’t work 🐭Product list: ✅Belif Aqua bomb moisturizer- I discovered this moisturizer about 8 months ago and fell in love! I love using this moisturizer morning and night, it is amazing at minimizing the look of my pores! I see a huge difference from before and after I use this! It’s amazing ingredients is everything that helps with my pores! ✅drunk elephant t.l.c serum- I discovered this serum from a friend recommending this to me after trying it and telling me how much it helped minimize her pores! I have been using this for about 6 months! I always use this at night because I know when I wake up my pores look super reduced and my skin is very soothed for when I start the day! I always use this right before applying eye cream and moisturizer! This serum is very lightweight and gives me the perfect hydration my skin needs, and is amazing with minimizing my pores overnight! ✅Glow recipes watermelon sleeping mask- I saw this all over social media when it came out, and when I saw some reviews for it I knew it would be perfect for my skin and I immediately bought it! I have been using this for about 6 months! I also only use this at night and whenever I use it before bed I see the biggest difference in my pores when I wake up! I use this right after I cleanse my face! The very thick consistency of this is super helpful before going to bed because I know I will wake up with super moisturized skin! ❌tatcha water cream- I found this moisturizer from a family member recommending it to me, and saying how much it helped with her pores! I saw the pricy price tag but I still went for it! I used it for a couple months of the summer, and it was perfect for my summer skin type! But when winter came around this was not giving my skin the hydration it needs, and I learned this is more for oily type skin! This didn’t change the look of my pores at all, I saw no difference when I used this at night and when I would wake up nothing changed! I used this as one of the last products in my routine!GLOW RECIPE - Watermelon + AHA Glow Sleeping Mask TATCHA - The Water Cream DRUNK ELEPHANT - T.L.C.
