Glow Recipe Could use some work

⭐️🅡🅔🅥🅘🅔🅦⭐️ Glow Recipe, Pineapple C-Bright Serum ($49, brand website and Sephora) ——————— ⇛Beauty (⭐️⭐️): #unpopularopinion I don’t like this product for several reasons (came in Boxyluxe): 1) it smells like rotten pineapples and is unpleasant to use; it contains artificial fragrance and it’s silly that they couldn’t figure out how to make this smell better 2) it irritates my skin, it definitely made me break out on two separate occasions (I don’t have acne typically), 3) the bottle is cheaply made and good vitamin C serums come in a dark bottle to reduce oxidization, 4) it’s overpriced, and 5) I take issue with the instructions - it says to use it everyday, twice a day. Do not do this, start with once a day every other day to see if your skin can tolerate it. My skin typically loves Vitamin C, and everyday, just nightly use, made me break out on Day 5. There are way better Vitamin C serums on the market than this - The Ordinary, Dear Klairs Freshly Juiced Vitamin Drop (it’s in a clear bottle, does oxidize over time, but it’s good when it’s good), Sunday Riley CEO Glow oil. ——————— ⇛Business (⭐️⭐️, cruelty-free): Glow Recipe used to be a Kbeauty curated website, but discontinued that portion of their business to focus on their own skincare line. I’m HIGHLY suspicious of US based Kbeauty brands. It’s overpriced skincare for the US market, with cute packaging, taking advantage of the Kbeauty trend but bringing no real value or innovation above staple brands. Although Glow Recipe manufactures in Korean labs, I think their formulations are subpar compared to other Korea-based brands, from my experience using numerous Korean brands over the last 8 years (I actually made an almost complete switch to Asian brands only skincare 10 years ago, and started with Japanese skincare). A good alternative to Glow Recipe is Innis Free (many contain fragrance, but products perform well at a much lower price point), which is now at Sephora.GLOW RECIPE - Pineapple-C Brightening Serum

Been loving the Pineapple-C Bright Serum by Glow Recipe so much! First of all, let's talk about how cute this pineapple packaging🍍 is! Glow Recipe has some of the cutest packaging and this serum is one of the cutest serums I have ever seen. Also, I love the scent of the product! It smells like Dole pineapple juice and I am obsessed with the scent, but it's great, because it doesn't linger! ⁣ ⁣ This has been my favorite Vitamin C serum that I have ever used. It has 3 different forms of Vitamin C in it including pineapple juice, pure ascorbic acid, and stable 3-O-Ethyl ascorbic acid which all help fade acne scarring, dark, spots, and hyperpigmentation. It, also, contains natural AHA's, Bromelain Enzymes(natural exfoliants) and chamomile and aloe(soothes and heals). ⁣ ⁣ This serum leaves my skin looking healthy, glowy, and even. A little goes a long way, as you only need a few drops for your whole face and it soaks in beautifully. It's a little sticky for the first 30 seconds, but after that, you are left beautiful glassy skin. I've noticed that this serum has definitely helped with my acne scarring and brightening my complexion more than any other vitamin c serum I have ever used. I am, honestly, obsessed! 😍🍍GLOW RECIPE - Pineapple-C Brightening Serum

DRUNK ELEPHANT - C-Firma Vitamin C Day Serum This was my second C firma that I had just finished. While I like c firma for its potency there are a few downsides I noticed the second time around using it. Because it’s so potent it is also unstable. It can oxidize fairly quickly leaving the very expensive product to not work as well as it should be. The smell is pretty unpleasant however I’ve always been willing to overlook that side effect. This product also stayed on my skin and left it feeling sticky for longer than I’d like, especially when I’m in a rush trying to apply my skincare and makeup before work it was difficult to work with the prolonged stickyness. That being said I really think it is probably the most potent and fast working vitamin c serum on the market. I would consider repurchasing in the future but for the time being I have other vitamin c serums I would like to try first. GLOW RECIPE - Pineapple-C Brightening Serum I recently opened this serum as a replacement to C firma. I had heard mixed reviews about it so I was a little uncertain what to expect but I was pleasantly surprised. I love the formula, it’s a silky feeling serum that glides onto the skin. The chamomile in the formula helps to soothe and calm skin and is great for sensitive skin. It also leaves skin feeling a little moisturized which is great when you have dry skin. Skin looks brighter thanks to the combination of vitamin C and AHAs. I would be interested in purchasing a replacement for this in the future.

My AM routine!
My AM routine!
My AM routine! I have dry skin and experience the occasional breakout. My routine changes regularly as I go through products and open new ones. THAYERS - Witch Hazel Astringent Step 1- I apply the theaters witch hazel toner to a cotton pad then apply to my face. I don’t cleanse in the morning because I don’t feel the need to, and cleansing too frequently dries my skin out. I like this toner a lot for the morning. It’s gentle and refreshing. It cleans any residue from sleeping, helps fight inflammation and soothes the skin. GLOW RECIPE - Pineapple-C Brightening Serum Step 2- I apply one generous size drop of pineapple bright vitamin C serum. Vitamin C is so important in a routine. It helps brighten skin and lighten dark spots and hyperpigmentation. I’m enjoying this serum a lot as well. It almost has an oily feeling to it which my dry skin loves, it absorbs the serum very quickly. I also love the slight natural pineapple scent. GOOD MOLECULES - Silicone-Free Priming Moisturizer Step 3- moisturizer! I am a huge fan of this good molecules moisturizer. The silicone free formula allows for really nice absorption into the skin, you can tell that it doesn’t just sit on top of the skin it actually sinks in. It provides a nice base for applying makeup. In the super dry months of winter I did notice that this may not have been as moisturizing as I would have liked because I would get a dry feeling mostly around the eyes but as the weather changes that feeling has disappeared. COSRX - Shield fit Snail Essence Sun SPF50+ PA+++ Step 4- a very important step is sunscreen! It’s very important for me to find a sunscreen that isn’t drying, I’ve tried a few that were loaded with alcohol that made my face feel so dry after a few hours. Luckily that didn’t happen with this one. Is layers well over my moisturizer and under makeup. It dries fairly matte and leaves no white cast behind. My only complaint is the scent, it’s kind of unpleasant and I wonder if it’s in part due to the snail essence. I do like the added skin benefits snail essence adds though such as preventing wrinkles and boosting hydration in the skin. Stay tuned I will share one of my PM routines this week as well!

A product fail for me!
A product fail for me!
I'd rather get coal than Glow Recipe's Pineapple-C. I'm not joking. This is marketed is as a potent, lightweight Vitamin C and AHA serum concentrated with smoothing pineapple juice and hyaluronic acid to brighten and even tone. It's to target concerns such as dullness, uneven texture, dryness and redness. Let's talk about why this $49 product for 1 oz of Dole Pineapple Juice is 1 star... HONESTLY IT'S DUE TO THE TEXTURE AND SMELL. Since I no longer have this product, I won't be able to show you my picture of the texture, so I will post a stock image. But this texture was so thick, that yes, a little does go a long way, however this is SOOO sticky and tacky. It never blended well for me, so I would try and do one drop of the serum with another oil. However, the smell was terrible. I love pineapples but this smelled exactly like rotten canned Dole pineapple juice... and the smell would linger and it was really strong. I did try and use this for about 2 weeks when it first launched earlier in 2019. I did find that the product would make me feel glowy and help with my texture. However, I've never smelled a worse product than this. If they reformulated it, I would definitely want to give it a try again because I did see some minor results. Pineapple-C is a Vitamin C and AHA serum designed to brighten dull skin, treat redness, and even skin tone. It is also meant to hydrate and calm the skin, due to its hyaluronic acid and chamomile content. It is a thinner, liquidy serum in texture, and it definitely feels a bit sticky when you apply it to your face. To me, it smells like fresh pineapple juice, so I like that! Personally, I was a bit underwhelmed by this serum. I think it provides some nice, light hydration, as well as some overall brightening, but it didn't target any of my hyperpigmentation, which I would expect from a vitamin c serum. I purchased this over the summer when there was a lot of hype around the new release, but it just didn't live up to some of the other vitamin c serums I've tried. I don't think the results I got were really worth the price of the product. I don't think this is a bad product, so it's not that I wouldn't recommend it to anyone; I think people with generally good skin who are looking for a nice, light serum to brighten their overall complexion will enjoy this. That being said, if you have major skin concerns, like hyperpigmentation or severe dullness, I don't think this is potent enough for you, so I would not recommend to that audience. There are plenty of other serums out there that are more effective for people needing more brightness! GLOW RECIPE - Pineapple-C Brightening Serum
