Sand & Sky- My Favorite💕
Sand & Sky- My Favorite💕
In this post I want to talk about Sand & Sky and how they’ve helped my acne-prone combo skin. THE BRAND 💕This brand is an Australian skincare brand founded by Emily and Sarah Hamilton. It is based on clean and effective formulas. They use Australian botanical ingredients. They are also cruelty free and a lot of their products use glass and even come with little tools like brushes to use their products. They tend to focus in pink clay which is a detox ingredient that absorbs impurities and combats pollution. They also more recently introduced their Emu Apple line which is a strong antioxidant which protects skin from free radicals and boosts Vitamin C production. WHY I LOVE THEM 💕I love them for all of the reasons above but also because these products really help my skin a LOT. The pink clay mask saves my face every time I use it and their new Enzyme Powder Polish is the gentlest exfoliant I’ve ever found that pairs beautifully if you get peeling from retinol products. They also share real results from people in their marketing. One time I shared my love of them on Instagram and they let me be part of their testing for a new launch! It was awesome. They wanted real results from me and honest feedback and that’s what I gave them but of course I loved the product because they create thoughtful and effective skincare. MY FAVORITE PRODUCT 💕My favorite product from this brand is the Pink Clay Mask. This helps me so much with painful acne and increases healing time. Pink clay removes impurities from the skin and this one is no exception. I’ve tried dupes of this like Gen Clay and none compare. This is a HUGE win anytime I have breakouts. ✨Swipe for Emu Apple Mask Glow! Have you tried them yet? 8 Do’s and Don’ts for Hormonal Acne
8 Do’s and Don’ts for Hormonal Acne
☀️I have combo skin that is sensitive and I get regular hormonal acne which makes keeping my skin fully clear very difficult but I’ve gotten a lot better at it over time so wanted to share some tips! 💕Do: 1. Wash your face daily by double cleansing. I like to wash my face with a water-based cleanser in the morning personally and then at night I’ll use a cleansing balm and then a water-based cleanser. This is called double cleansing and that extra step is important at night, especially if you were wearing makeup and sunscreen during the day (hopefully SPF!). You can also find a cleanser with Salicylic Acid in it to treat breakouts like the one from Paula’s Choice or CeraVe. 2. Wear sunscreen SPF 30 or higher Sunscreen daily helps my skin so much with redness and of course with acne. This is one of the most important things you can do for your skin! Do it do it do it! 3. Use clay masks Once or twice a week I will use my pink clay mask by Sand & Sky to pull out impurities from my skin. I find this mask helps with painful acne and reducing redness. It increases healing time from my experience too. This is the best one I’ve found and I will repurchase over and over again. 4. Use Vitamin C (with SPF during the day) Vitamin C helps me a TON with acne scars. You know after a big breakout how you’ll have redness? This ingredient helps me with that and fights free radicals during the day which is good too! Always pair it with sunscreen. I like to use this during the day and a retinol to increase cell turnover at night. Generally, the rule of thumb is to not mix the two! 5. Use a retinol This product increase cell turnover which for me helps heal acne faster and also seems to prevent big breakouts and even small ones from happening as frequently. I use A-Passioni by Drunk Elephant currently. It’s strong so like any product, patch test on your hand to see if your skin gets along with it. Then slowly add to your routine with a richer moisturizer. There are many options out there. I did experience peeling and purging when I first started and that purging where your skin breaks out from the product at first can last a few weeks but is so so worth it in the end. 🙈Don’t: 1. Do NOT use products with coconut oil. This isn’t true for everyone but for me and a bunch of skincare lovers I know, products with coconut oil make us breakout consistently. Yes, it can be hydrating but keep it to the body rather than your face. 2. Do NOT use products with fragrance! This isn’t true for everyone but for some people fragrance is extremely irritating for the skin. I think if you can avoid it, which you can, then definitely do. CeraVe has a lot of great and affordable products that fit this category. 3. Do NOT sleep in your make-up. I know. It can happen. But for my skin, I find I can breakout throughout just the course of the day from wearing make-up. I hope this helps! SAND&SKY - Australian Pink Clay Porefining Face Mask

Pleasantly surprised by this money sucker!
Pleasantly surprised by this money sucker!
Let me just start by saying that I have been looking at this beauty basically since it came out but never actually bought it because of how obnoxiously expensive it is. The only reason I did this month is because ulta was having a big Black Friday sale and I racked up $10 in points, scoring this product for half off! It has a very interesting smell but now that I’ve been using it for a month, I’ve gotten used to it. It’s very thick and creamy so you barely need any to cover your whole face. They suggest you keep it on your face for 5-20 minutes. I like to keep clay masks on longer usually but this one dries in about 5 minutes which is probably why their suggested time is so short. When you take it off, you can immediately see that your skin looks smoother and pores look smaller! This usually means that the product is drying your face so I top it with either my favorite THE BODY SHOP - Jumbo Tea Tree Oil (sorry Hyram I tried to stop for a little and my skin didn’t like it) and CLINIQUE - Moisture Surge Intense Skin Fortifying Hydrator which is on the more expensive side but hydrates the CRAP out of my skin and is so worth it. I don’t normally like clay masks because I do have combination skin and it tends to make me breakout more but this one is like a different breed!! Verdict: YES!!!!! 💖💖💖💖 one of the best clay masks I’ve used. Buy it!!!

These are my October/November empties: SAND&SKY - Australian Pink Clay Porefining Face Mask mini pink skys Australian clay mask. I really liked this sample, I found that my skin looked brighter and clearer after use, and it worked great on blemishes :) Supergoop! - Unseen Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 40 also enjoyed using this sunscreen, I hate when spfs feel greasy and leave white casts, and this was clear and left my skin with a mattish finish. I would consider repurchasing, it’s just a bit pricey at $34 for 1.7oz. SOL de Janeiro - Brazilian Bum Bum Cream I love this so much! It smells amazing and it’s super hydrating, I already have the bigger size 😍 VERSED - FOUND THE LIGHT Powder With VC I liked how easy this was to add to any product (I was adding a couple of shakes to my morning moisturizer), but ultimately I don’t think it did much for my skin so I wouldn’t repurchase. CAUDALIE - Vinopure Natural Salicylic Acid Pore Minimizing Toner and CAUDALIE - Vinopure Pore Purifying Gel Cleanser both were great minis, and they lasted me a while. They smell amazing, and did their job. I would consider purchasing the full sizes in the future. THE inkey LIST - Niacinamide Oil Control Serum - not really an empty but it expired and turned a weird color so it’s time to toss. I like it and have another one that I will probably open soon. SKIN&CO - Truffle Therapy Face Toner - I liked this toner, I know people aren’t big fans of witch hazel but I find it works well for my skin. I got it in a FFF box and it lasted a while, but It’s expensive and nothing too special so I won’t be repurchasing. COSRX - Cosrx Acne Pimple Master Patch i liked these little patches, they’re affordable and do a great job of drawing out pimple gunk.

Pretty in Pink
Pretty in Pink
I’ve been wanting to get my hands on SAND&SKY - Australian Pink Clay Porefining Face Mask since I first saw the cute little jar and adorable tiny brush. But I thought that it might be gimmicky and I read mixed reviews. Having combination skin, I was looking for a clay mask that would balance, not dry my skin. After researching more about it, I decided to give in to my whim and just buy the mask. I loved the weight of the jar, the color of the mask and of course, the best tiny brush in the world. But what really excited me was how the mask felt as I brushed it on. There was an instant tingle and freshness. It dried quickly and I could see how the mask sank into my pores. After 10 minutes, I placed a hot wash cloth on my face to loosen it and it slipped right off. Afterward, my skin felt smooth and soft. Pores seemed tighter. And I felt positively rosy! I can’t speak to long term benefits, yet. And I can say that the jar is deceptively tiny for the price (although a little does go a long way). Not sure, yet, if I would repurchase, but my maskaholism is sated for tonight. (Seriously. Send help. I have a literal problem with mask buying.)

MASKNE BE GONE
MASKNE BE GONE
Times are weird and having to wear an occlusive mask on your face all the time can be difficult for some because it can lead to breakouts. These are my go-to for breakouts in general, but for maskne especially. SAND&SKY - Australian Pink Clay Porefining Face Mask has been my favorite clay mask for a long time because of how effective it is. It really does get into your pores and gets all the sweat, dirt, and acne causing bacteria out. It has a super creamy formula that spreads easily. Another great thing is that this mask dries down quick and is so easy to wipe off, unlike other clay masks where you have to scrub. PAULA'S CHOICE - Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliator is another cult fave that is loved for good reason. This stuff works y’all. I like to use this before the clay mask!!! The BHA is salicylic acid which gets down into the pores and helps clear out any acne causing agent like bacteria, sweat, or acne. The texture of this is different. It is a liquid but when applied it is almost oily, so I always let it absorb before moving on to any other step. These two are great products for anyone with acne. If you have maskne, I suggest you give these a shot! #cheriepartner
