SCALP SCRUB PACKAGING FACE OFF!
I feel like the key to beautiful and happy hair, has to start at your scalp! I have tested way too many scalp scrubs to have only JUST found *the one*... Is it just me, or does packaging play a huge role in determining if you’re going to like a product? The Ouai scalp & body scrub: claims to be a deep cleansing, foaming skin and scalp scrub. It is meant to remove build up from your scalp and smooth out dry patches of skin. Drunk elephant TLC happi scalp scrub: claims to be a supercharged AHA/BHA acid blend that dissolves dead skin cells and build up. My scalp is incredibly dry and always itchy, due to an imbalanced scalp and product build up. I am always on the search for the perfect scalp scrub that can actually do the job and keep the itchiness away for longer than an hour. I finally found the scalp scrub I’ll always reach for, and the main reason is the packaging! I HATE dipping my wet hands into a scalp scrub CUP. Ew! I absolutely love how easy it is to dispense the DE scrub into my roots with the squeeze tube packaging AND bonus tip dispenser. The thin white paste of the drunk elephant scrub is also so much easier to spread around, than the huge gritty paste of the ouai scrub. The drunk elephant scrub is also so much faster to rinse out, as it has biodegradable exfoliating beads in it, that simply dissolve. The Ouai scalp scrub has huge sugar-like crystals in it that I can still feel in the shaft of my hair after I rinse it out. It gets caught everywhere! My last determining factor for which scalp scrub is for you, is the effectiveness. When I use the Ouai scalp scrub, I feel that it’s purpose is more for removing build up, and I mean heavy duty build up. The Ouai scalp scrub is what I would opt for if I had insane build up, and haven’t been able to use a scalp scrub in a long time. It does a super deep clean and most times leaves my scalp very dry. The drunk elephant scrub is the winner for me because I don’t usually have a ton of product build up and mostly need to get rid of the dead skin cells on my scalp and rebalance it. I would recommend both, depending on which of these concerns you have more! OUAI - Scalp & Body Scrub DRUNK ELEPHANT - T.L.C. Happi Scalp Scrub
OUAI-Scalp & Body Scrub
The ouai forward? I do love a scrub and I've also always enjoyed products by Ouai so I've been looking forward to trying their Scalp & Body Scrub since its launch. Yes, I could just add a handful of sugar to my regular shampoo… but why deprive myself of the excuse to try out another product, as well as the light floral bliss that is the scent of Ouai’s scrub…? A true sugar-style exfoliant, this has a smooth, almost honey-like consistency, interspersed with varying sized sugar granules. Meanwhile, coconut and sweet almond oils moisturise (making this great for use on the body too), and probiotics help to maintain the scalp’s natural flora and fauna. I like to think that I keep a pretty clean scalp, so it was both alarming and strangely satisfying to see the water change colour the first time I used this, as years of unseen pollution and product buildup washed out of my hair. Not only did this offer a thorough cleanse, it also forced me to concentrate on massaging my scalp properly, great for stimulating circulation and hair follicles. In terms of results, even after just one use, this has made my hair feel lighter (which has definitely added a small amount of volume), and my scalp softer. I know that in the long-term, doing this every two weeks will help prevent future buildup (goodbye last week’s dry shampoo), as well as allowing any subsequent conditioners to penetrate deeper. Plus points: Thorough scalp cleanse. Lovely floral scent. Moisturising body exfoliator too. Minuses: The price… at £32 for 250g this is a fairly expensive treat, although to be fair I don't need a lot of product to give the scalp a thorough exfoliation Side note: While this scrub does foam gently, it also leaves a slight oily residue in its wake- great for use on the body but may not suit everyone on the scalp- so I light to add a little shampoo to my mixture.

YOUR SCALP IS SKIN TOO!
A FRIENDLY REMINDER TO NEVER NEGLECT YOUR SCALP! ✨ People tend to forget that their scalp is skin too and so it needs to be treated the same way we care for our faces or our bodies. Scalp scrubs can be used by anyone! If you have a dry scalp, itchy scalp, ANY scalp can benefit from a scalp scrub!! OUAI - Scalp & Body Scrub I have recently been using the OUAI (pronounced WAY) Body & Scalp Scrub. I apply the scrub once a week and it has left my scalp feeling soft and nourished, and has given my hair sooo much more volume! It has also eliminated A LOT of product build up! The smell of the scrub is just to die for - the texture is quite thick and very granular so I like to apply it to a dry scalp FIRST before I get into the shower... Then I massage it in once it’s wet. An alternative/addition to a scalp scrub is a SCALP BRUSH! Using a scalp brush stimulates your hair follicles which increases blood flow and encourages hair GROWTH! 🤩 #Moyoko - Scalp Brush[products]#[FiveStars] The Moyoko scalp brush is such good quality and comes in a variety of cute colours! I often use it to massage my scalp scrub into my scalp when I’m in the shower. The silicone pins aren’t at all harsh on your scalp and actually give an unreal head massage! 😍 Try it out! Paula x

Top Scalp Scrubs
Dry scalps are no joke especially come fall/winter time! The health of my scalp has significantly changed once I started using a scalp scrub once a week in lieu of my regular shampoo. If you use a lot of hair products (especially dry shampoo) or have dandruff, scalp scrubs will be a game changer for you. My top two scrubs at the moment are the Ouai body & scalp scrub along with the Playa one. I like Playa - California Salt Scalp Scrub Shampoo because it’s all natural, feels a bit tingly since it has tea tree oil in it (which is quite refreshing in the shower) and feels really gentle on the scalp. The Ouai scalp scrub smells sooooo good (hints of bergamont which I really love) and can be used all over the body, too! This one lathers a bit more and has coconut oil in it which doesn’t strip your skin from its moisture. I’ve gone through 3+ OUAI - Scalp & Body Scrub already! Are you using a scalp scrub right now?

Top HAIR PRODUCTS of 2020!!
Hey guys! This is the 3rd post for my Best and Worst of Beauty 2020 series! You guys love these posts, so let’s get right on into my top pick for haircare! Once again my disclaimer that these are my opinions, experiences, and data I’ve found. If your opinion or data differs, that’s okay, this is just for fun. Shampoos and Conditioners: 🧴 🚿 I have two picks for this category, one expensive, one cheap. For expensive I choose function of beauty - Custom shampoo + conditioner , which is my current shampoo. Function of Beauty has you take a hair quiz and choose hair goals, then they formulate a custom product based on your hair needs. It costs $49.99 for one 16 fl oz bottle of conditioner and one 16 fl oz bottle of shampoo. The price drops to $39.99 for a 8 fl oz version. Since the formulation depends on your hair, I’ll just share the link to see what may be in yours. If you go to https://www.functionofbeauty.com/ingredients/ it shows the ingredients added per hair goal. My goals are to hydrate, lengthen, anti-frizz, shine, and soothe my scalp. My hair used to be very dry and frizzy, and it hasn’t been since using Function of Beauty. My hair has grown way fast than it ever has, 6 inches since quarantine began! My scalp is also less itchy. A splurge, but worth it. If that’s too expensive you can get the ogx - Thick & Full + Biotin & Collagen Shampoo and ogx - Thick & Full Biotin & Collagen Conditioner . They’re sold separately for $7.99 each for a 13 fl oz bottle at Ulta. They make your hair very soft, as well as nourished. Scalp Scrub: 👩🧼 My pick is definitely theOUAI - Scalp & Body Scrub . It has fine sugar crystals that remove dandruff buildup, or dead skin cells on your skin. This one is pricey, at $38.00 for a 8.8 fl oz tub at Sephora. It has been on Allure’s Best of Haircare list for 3 years straight, and has glycerin and hydrating oils. Hair treatments: ✨🧴 The davines - All In One Milk Lotion is technically a men’s product, but I (a female) LOVE it! You can get a 4.56 fl oz spray bottle for $35.00 on Amazon. It makes your hair shiney, smooth, and detangles it. My only complaint is it has a very strong scent. My second pick is the Maui MOISTURE - Lightweight Hydration + Hibiscus Water Quenching Detangler . It’s much more affordable at $8.99 for a 4.2 fl oz bottle. This is a basic shine inducing detangler that works great with a comb. Hair Mousse: 🛁🧴 The LAYRITE - Natural Matte Cream is another man oriented product that’s great for everyone. For men, it’s mostly used to wax/gel their hair into place. I like it for crazy hair day or Halloween, but for people with a lot of baby hairs or pixie cuts, this is a must. Those are my picks! Thanks for reading this post! Cheer this post so more people can learn about these amazing products, and follow me to see the rest of the series! -Mae

soap & glory vs ouai 🐡 body scrub comparison!
whoa, it has been a week! i am looking forward to some R+R time this weekend. i will definitely be doing a body scrub, so wanted to share my impressions of these two awesome products. SOAP & GLORY - Flake Away Body Polish has been my staple body scrub for a while now. it is a sugar scrub that has shea butter and apricot seeds. the scent is faintly citrusy and floral, like other soap & glory products - very delightful but not overpowering. the granules are large with multiple textures, and it does a great job of removing flaky dead skin. i also love using this scrub to keep my back, elbows, and knees smooth. it costs $15 at ulta and target. OUAI - Scalp & Body Scrub was one of my splurge purchases earlier this year. it is also a sugar scrub, with coconut oil, a probiotic blend (to promote a healthy skin microbiome) and my favorite ‘melrose place’ scent (rose + bergamot + lychee + cedarwood). compared to the soap & glory scrub, the sugar granules are finer and the scent is softer, almost more ‘grown up.’ this feels like something that you would whip out for a special occasion, especially if you follow with layering the ‘melrose place’ perfume. it costs $38 at ulta and sephora. overall i would recommend the soap & glory scrub for regular weekly use. the ouai is definitely a more special product (the scent is so wonderful), but i docked a star for the price (given it is essentially sugar and oils). i haven’t used it as a scalp treatment yet, so i will probably reevaluate after i try that.
