Vitamin C 101: smells like success!
Let’s begin this post by mentioning that I’m all about Vitamin C products right now. My skin is dull, discoloured, and tired. And this feels like a slice of summer on my skin! WHY VITAMIN C? Vitamin C (or Absorbic acid) is not naturally produced by your body: meaning it’s something we need to add to our systems. For most of our lives we have consumed it through foods and supplements to help with the production of collagen, help fight off cancer (works as an antioxidant to protect against free radicals), reduce risk of cataracts, heart health, and the list goes on and on. Well, what about in our skin care? Don’t you worry, I was getting to this. Those same important things I listed for when we eat Vit C, carry over to our skin. Applying Vit C topically (vía creams, serums, etc.) directly to your face and neck stimulates collagen production (smooths our wrinkles and keeps skin youthful). It’s also an antioxidant (protecting against UV damage). Thirdly, and my favourite point, is that is helps fight off dark spots and pigmentation! By inhibiting melanin production (the pigment that gives our skin colour) in combination with turning over skin cells quicker, you begin to see a more even skin tone! HOW DO YOU USE IT? The nice thing about vitamin C is that you are able to use it day or night. I can only speak to how I use it but here’s my routine: In the morning, after cleansing and toning, apply a vitamin C serum is you have one: #OLE HENRIKSEN - Truth Serum[products]#[FiveStars] is my choice, I’m on an OLE HENRIKSEN kick at the moment. It’s light and super fast absorbing, which I appreciate. Then apply your cream, I use OLE HENRIKSEN - C-Rush Vitamin C Gel Moisturizer and have been for about 2 weeks. I love the smell of this product so much, it’s somewhat nostalgic to me. My one and only complaint - and the reason I gave it 4/5 stars - was that it leaves my skin feeling slightly sticky. Which is fine while I don’t put make up on, but I find I can’t apply a CC cream afterwards, it’s a goopy mess. ANY TIPS AND TRICKS? 1. Expect slower changes: Noticeable changes from Vit C are a little slower than most things we try out. Usually, they say wait 6-8 weeks to notice. It also depends on the strength of your formula. Higher concentrations will work more aggressively than milder ones. 2. It breaks down fast: Vit C is well known to oxidize quickly, so you’ve got to make sure you pay attention to expiry dates, also give it a look or smell every once in a while to see if it’s still good. Sealed pump containers tend to keep the product more intact. 3. Vit C doesn’t always play well with retinol or niacinamide. So I probably wouldn’t use them back to back, but I don’t have personal experience with this, so exercise caution. Still waiting on those 6-8 weeks with this batch of trials, but so far so good! ✌🏼

Ole Henriksen Brightening Skincare Set Review
I’ve been using the OLE HENRIKSEN - Let's Get Luminous Brightening Essentials Set for nearly two months & with 2/3 products now empty I am ready to review! Firstly, the set is great value. For $55AUD (from Sephora) you get 3 good sized products. The moisturiser is a full size jar and the truth serum lasted me 2 months using 3 pumps of it every day! & I’ve barely broken the surface of the banana eye cream (although we’ll get into why that is 🥴). I read glowing reviews of all the products both on Cherie & on the Sephora site so I was so excited to get going with them and I have to say, I am disappointed. I’ve kept all 3 of these products as day time use only and used just these +sunscreen for my morning skincare routine in the week (if I’m getting up at 6am, 4 steps is more than enough 💀) & would only add toner & hyaluronic acid on the weekend. OLE HENRIKSEN - Truth Serum is a really nice gel like texture that absorbs super fast & is orange scented. It claims to smooth, soften & improve radiance in your skin in 2 months & at 1st I would have agreed, but every time that time of month rolled in, my hormonal acne was able to steam roll over any effects & if anything, my spots have been more consistent and hung around longer. I think there are suuurely many more vitamin C serums that are more effective and cheaper- this shit is $70AUD for 30ml! But if you want to give it a try, I recommend this large sample size. The OLE HENRIKSEN - C-Rush Vitamin C Gel Moisturizer I had a much better time with. This is a lightweight, peach coloured gel that absorbs quickly & is genuinely refreshing to put on. It claims to give an instant glow, & although my skin did look a little nicer and felt plumper, I’d say the claim that it fights dullness throughout the day is false. After a few hours, my skin would feel dry & I’d get some pilling on my neck, but because of the refreshing feel, I didn’t mind too much reapplying. However if you wear make up over this (which it claims to improve) that’s obviously not an option. Finally the OLE HENRIKSEN - Banana Bright Eye Crème claims to fight fine lines, reduce dark circles and firm and hydrate my eyes. I’m not a big believer in eye creams being much more than overpriced moisturiser (unless they contain retinol) but what intrigued me was the banana powder. I was viewing this more as makeup primer than skincare, just wanting a brightening effect for the day & it STILL managed to let me down. Not only did I not see any of those claims met but the thick, almost gritty consistency just wrecked my concealer when I did try it under makeup. It would streak it (even when I patted it/used a beauty blender) and moved it around my skin. As a basic eye hydrator it’s fine, but tbh I’m glad I got a sample size. I Included before & after application photos so you can judge the instant effects for yourself! Let me know your thoughts 🧡

Great Gel Moisturizer!
I’m so blown away by Ole Henriksen’s new C-Rush Brightening Gel Crème I received complimentary from Influenster! This gel creme claims to hydrate up to 24 hours, firms, and targets fine lines and wrinkles. I find all the claims to be true! The gel has a peachy-tint to it which helps illuminate the skin and giving you that Ole Glow. I also love the texture of the creme. The gel formula is so light and a little goes a long way. It absorbs so insanely fast into the skin while hydrating it. It creates the best smooth base for make up application. It’s perfect for morning make up because of how quickly it absorbs and it’s orange creamsicle scent perks the skin right up! I do notice my skin is more hydrated and firm when I use this creme. It’s hands down the best moisturizer I’ve ever used.

VITAMINS are a must!
I’ve been using vitamin C products for over 3 years and it’s become one of the most beneficial ingredients to incorporate into my routine. I use pure vitamin C oils or serums and have noticed such a big difference in my skins texture and brightness. These are my fav vitamin C products: OLE HENRIKSEN - Truth Serum THE inkey LIST - Vitamin C Serum 30ml OLE HENRIKSEN - C-Rush Vitamin C Gel Moisturizer I started using retinol (vitamin A) about 1.5 years ago and I wish I started in my early 20s! I absolutely love retinol and how well it works for acne prone skin. My blemishes have been SO much more controlled now that I use retinol daily and my skin also looks so much smoother and more even. These are my fav retinol products: THE inkey LIST - Retinol Anti-Aging Serum DRUNK ELEPHANT - A-Passioni Retinol Cream KNC BEAUTY - All Natural Retinol Infused Eye Mask Niacinamide (vitamin B3) was the last vitamin I started incorporating into my routine and that was about 8 months ago. Niacinamide has quickly become my fav ingredient to use because of the fact that I saw results so quickly! I’ve gotten so many compliments on my skin ever since I started using Niacinamide. My blemishes are all gone, my skin looks smooth and clean, and my skin looks brighter. These are my fav Niacinamide products: The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% THE inkey LIST - Niacinamide Oil Control Serum FIRST AID BEAUTY - Eye Duty Niacinamide Brightening Eye Cream I’m always on the internet trying to find graphs and charts to help me better understand the products and ingredients I use.

My recent samples: 😍😐😣
Today I received my free sample of the Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair and I'm so excited that I decided to a premature post about my recent samples.. The good 😍, the bad 😣 and the meh 😐. Premature because I haven't had the chance to try them all yet so there'll be a part 2 of this post! 😁 My review of the ones I tried is as follows: MOROCCANOIL - Moroccanoil Treatment IT'S AMAZING. So I'm very careful of my hair and never subject it to any treatments. I never used serums until I was 23 (bc my hair was almost 4ft long by then). The only one I trust to use is the one I get from India every year. Two bottles (I don't use it very often) for the whole year. When I didn't get to stock up, I looked elsewhere and honestly, I almost never like any hair serums. I've tried Matrix, The Honest Company, Infusium, OGX and idk what else. But this one is so good. It's almost the same as the one I buy back in India with an equally pleasant smell. And it makes my hair silky smooth. All in all, 5 stars OLE HENRIKSEN - C-Rush Vitamin C Gel Moisturizer The second product I loved! I can't find a better word to describe the cream than "fresh". Every time I apply it, it feels so fresh on my skin, I love that 😍 Plus it has a very faint yet divine smell. It's a sample and I don't have too many fine lines so I can't comment on the anti-aging claims of this cream. But either way, I'm definitely buying this creme sometime next year when I run out of my current creams. FARMACY - Daily Greens Oil-Free Gel Moisturizer with Moringa and Papaya This one's the meh. It's not a bad cream but it's not great either. I have drier skin and even a little bit feels too heavy and oily on my face. Plus the smell isn't something I enjoyed. BIOSSANCE - Squalane+ Rose Vegan Lip Balm This is the second meh product. Honestly, of the few brands that I really get excited about, biossance is one of them and I can't wait to try their whole line - but this lip balm doesn't do wonders. I use Aquaphor and Vaseline and they work better than this. I do like the really cute bottle though. The texture is similar to Vaseline but with a rose scent. I still use it, but for overnight use I still reach for Vaseline. GLAMGLOW - BRIGHTEYES Illuminating Anti-Fatigue Eye Cream CLINIQUE - Pep-Start Eye Cream I'm clumping these two together because neither of these worked. The texture of both is not too bad, sometimes even quite pleasant. But if I were to pick one skincare concern for me, it'd be dark circles. And these didn't help. Wish they did but nope. I'm currently trying a couple of others and if they work, I'll post about them soon :) TATCHA - Luminous Dewy Skin Mist I've realized that I'm just not a fan of face mists. I'm too paranoid they'll blind me or something. Plus this one smells strong when it hits the face, thereby doubling my paranoia. So I'd rather not use it and I'll refrain from rating as well.

Morning skincare routine for combination skin ✨
I’ve switched up my skincare routine as my skin has been really acting out recently. I’ve always had dry, dull skin so facial acne is a new problem for me (at 23🙃). However I didn’t want to strip my skin and cause further breakouts so here’s what I’ve been trying recently. This is my first post so please comment and let me know what you think/ would recommend! Cleanser: I start the day with the CeraVe - Hydrating Facial Cleanser It’s gentle, with a simple ingredient list of ceramides and hyaluronic acid. It’s non foaming and doesn’t leave my skin feeling tight (which I find frequently happens with foaming products). It’s basic but does the job of sweeping off last nights products well. 💦 Toner: then on a still slightly damp face I sweep on LANEIGE - Cream Skin Toner & Moisturizer either patting it on with my hands or using a cotton pad. My skin drinks this up fassst & I haven’t had any dry patches on my nose since using this daily. It’s lightweight & very watery and although it claims to be a 2 in 1 toner and moisturiser I definitely wouldn’t say that I could skip moisturiser after using this. 🐄 Serums: I try and get The Ordinary - Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 onto my face as quickly as possible so that the hyaluronic acid draws moisture from the toner and not deeper layers of my skin. This serum absorbs quickly & isn’t tacky at all, it also doesn’t interact with any of my other products so I’m already on my second bottle & use it in my morning and evening skincare routine. 🐳 I then use OLE HENRIKSEN - Truth Serum I feel pretty meh about this, it has a nice texture and absorbs quickly but it also has (a nice!) fragrance & I can’t say I’ve seen much of a difference in the few weeks I’ve been using it. It claims to have anti aging properties thanks to its collagen, but at most, topical collagen will moisturise your skin (the molecules are too big to penetrate deeper) so I think I’m keen to try other vitamin C serums, I’m thinking of getting the FARMACY - Very Cherry Bright 15% Clean Vitamin C Serum with Acerola Cherryor The Ordinary - Ascorbic Acid 8% + Alpha Arbutin 2%so any thoughts on those would be welcome! 🍊 Then The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% which has been driving me a bit mad recently. I’m only halfway through my first bottle but have had such hit and miss results in terms of pilling! Think I’m going to permanently relocate this to just my nighttime routine 🌚 Moisturiser: OLE HENRIKSEN - C-Rush Vitamin C Gel Moisturizer is lightweight and has a nice texture so it’s a great summer moisturiser, in terms of brightening though, I’ve not seen much change. Finally Neutrogena - Hydro Boost Sunscreen SPF 50 it’s non greasy, but does create some shine & it stings like hell if you get it in your eyes so be warned! But no white cast & a nice texture🌞
