This is why you should by trial size first!
So I do this thing in order to try a bunch of different products and find the ones I love. I buy TRIAL SIZE FIRST! I can spend sooooo much money on skincare when I know I shouldn’t so I started trying the mini of products which financially speaking isn’t maybe the most “bang for your buck” but at least I spend $12 on something and not $38 before I find out I don’t really like it. Regardless, I buy trial size to determine if something is worth the splurge or not and then I am exposed to a bunch of new options to upgrade my skincare. I have wanted to try the OLEHENRIKSEN brand for a while and so when I saw the balance mini kit on sale I jumped on it. (Like literally jumped in the air when I received the package). So here is my honest opinion of these 4 products: OLE HENRIKSEN - Pore-Balance Facial Sauna Scrub let’s start on a high note. LOVED this scrub. Everything in this collection has menthol-y feel which is intensified if you do this in the shower which is usually how I do scrubs. (My routine is to exfoliate with a scrub whenever I wash my hair - every other day or so). My pores have never felt soooooo clear. It really felt like a sauna for my skin. Plus, my boyfriend (who I force to do skincare) said he felt like he was breaking out by his nose so I put this scrub on him and the pimple disappeared! 🥳 OLE HENRIKSEN - Balancing Force Oil Control Toner on to the toner. Gotta say, I didn’t love it. It makes my skin feel dry and tight and it burns a little bit. I don’t have particularly sensitive skin so I can imagine that it’s all the worse for those who do. I will say that my forehead and nose can get oily in the summer and that was taken care of with this toner. But overall, would not recommend. OLE HENRIKSEN - Counter Balance Oil Control Hydrator NOPE! Highly disliked this. One could even say hated. Does not provide moisture and it felt like it wasn’t adding anything to my skin just taking away. My face is not that oily so I think it’s just not the right moisturizer for me. If you know anything about me, it’s that I love moisturizer. OLE HENRIKSEN - Cold Plunge Pore Mask I liked but I didn’t love this mask. This was the product that I bought this set for and while I do like it, I’m not sure I would give it the same rave reviews that others have given. It applies very smoothly and has a cooling sensation when you are wearing it. The color is really pretty (see picture!) but that’s not a reason to buy a mask. Also: this set is supposed to shrink pores and I don’t really find that it did that for me but maybe it just takes a little more time. Overall, this was super surprising to me. I didn’t think I would love the scrub as much as I did and dislike the other things as much as I did. I will definitely be buying the full size of the scrub but jury’s still out on the mask.

bye-bye blackheads (this is a great combo)
Olehenriksen: (Balance Combo) •PORE-BALANCE FACIAL SAUNA SCRUB •COLD PLUNGE PORE MASK •These products are from the Balance line from Olehenriksen. They are marketed as products that will clean out the pores and then tighten them so they stay clean. •These two products are targeted towards pores, blackheads, clogged skin, and uneven/dull texture. HONESTY: I just picked these up not long ago and have only tried the combo once. I definitely noticed a difference on my nose where I typically get a lot of blackheads. They’re was a noticeable change and a lot less clogged pores. Also, my pores appeared smaller from the Pore Mask! •I like this combo because the scrub cleans out my pores when i’m in the shower and then the application of the mask when I get out of the shower seals my pores closed, which keeps them clear for longer. I love the minty smell of these as well! •I would definitely trying this out if you have clogged pores and sensitive or combo skin. These worked great for me and match well for my skin type. Also, you can purchase these in the Balance Babies set, which is $42 and comes with 4 products (which I feel like is a great deal)! RATING: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I’m giving this combo 5 out of 5 stars! They work great as a duo and cleaned out all of my blackheads! These are also Clean at Sephora!!! 🤩 Great clean option!OLE HENRIKSEN - Cold Plunge Pore Mask OLE HENRIKSEN - Pore-Balance Facial Sauna Scrub

🌋IS THIS SAUNA SCRUB JUST BOOGIE ST IVES?! 🌋
🌋Ohhh the horror, I never really thought about this much until yesterday when I was using this scrub and it occurred to me the little particles weren’t uniform, and I remembered watching a video of Dr.Shah putting the St. Ives scrub under a microscope showing that the microbeads weren’t uniform and some were even jagged that could be damaging to the skin. 🌋Anywayyyyys the TL:DR answer is NO, the OLE HENRIKSEN - Pore-Balance Facial Sauna Scrub is not the same as ST. Ives - Acne Control Apricot Scrub . 🌋Sometimes, I just feel like I need a little texture. A gentle physical exfoliant, that is a little more satisfying then their straight chemical exfoliant counterparts. Especially in the morning if I’ve maybe over did it with the facial oil or moisturizer. With the cooler months rolling in especially, I’m grabbing the Sauna Scrub more and more for a quick spa like experience in the shower. 🌋I love the warming effects, that turns into a refreshing cool sensation. My skin always feels squeaky clean, and soft after this scrub. 🌋The particles are beneficial for luminous skin, the innate richness of volcanic black sand make it an excellent ingredient for skin purifying, detoxifying, anti-stress and contain protective properties to increase the natural defence of skin. 🌋This scrub also contains AHA’s - lactic and glycolic acid do you are getting the best of both exfoliant worlds. 🌋At $37 for a 3oz product, with a 12 month lifespan this will easily carry you through all your fall winter exfoliation needs. 🌋Now, where it loses a star for me is a couple things mid way down the ingredients list. Eucalyptus leaf oil, peppermint oil and limonene are all know skin irritants, so where I’m comfortable with this products those with really sensitive skin might not be. 🌋Another thing to remember, is with AHA’s present in the scrub it is super important that you slather on that SPF and keep that new skin looking firm and fresh ✨💛

OLE HENRIKSEN - Pore-Balance Facial Sauna Scrub 🐛I found this at tjmaxx, & I’m so glad i did, because i had been wanting to try this product for a long time (this mini size was perfect). This is good for pores and oily skin (perfect for me). It’s supposed to exfoliate skin, help refine pores, loosen dead skin cells & more. As soon as i put this on my skin and rubbed it, i immediately felt a warm/cooling sensation, that felt so good. so refreshing! made me feel like i was at a spa. the formula is also great; from volcanic sand, to glycolic & lactic acids, this makes a wonderful peel. I had never tried a scrub on my face before (i was hesistant), but this made my complexion smooth with soft skin & a nice glow. I definitely recommend it for someone with oily skin. Once i am finished with this little size, i will be purchasing the regular size. I love this product, so far I’ve been using it 2x a week. 10/10 for me! 😍😍👌🏼

BASICS - Chemical vs Physical Exfoliants 🧼🧖🏼
Okay it’s time to talk about exfoliating! Chemical exfoliant has recently become more accessible and mainstream in the world of beauty, but before chemical exfoliants were seen outside of the walls of high-end salons I know we all had our favourite face scrubs 🧖🏿♀️ St. Ives, Clean & Clear, Fresh, they all had their own version of a sugar or walnut scrub.. but more and more we see products like this leaving store shelves. But why 🤔 Exfoliating your skin should be a non-negotiable in your routine! Clearing away the dead skin cells on the top layer of your skin is a crucial step to help you skin generate new cells 🆕 As you clear away the dead skin cells not only are you encouraging new cells to form, but you are also brightening, smoothing, and cleansing your skin on a cellular level. Physical exfoliants like the two shown above promise to bring amazing results, when in reality they are actually creating little micro tears in your skin 🥵 By actually making the surface of your skin bumpier and more uneven, products like this trick you into purchasing more by making your skin worse in the long run. Often physical scrubs also include ingredients that are comedogenic, contribute to fungal acne, and fragrances which cause extra irritation. Now, if you’re looking to continue to exfoliate but are not sure where to start check out my tips below: • Struggling with surface-level issues (anti-aging, acne scarring, pigmentation issues, etc.) then try out an AHA based serum a few nights a week, my current favourite is The Ordinary - Lactic Acid 5% + HA or The Ordinary - Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution • Dealing with sub-surface issues (recurring acne and inflammation) then using a BHA serum or infused product might be the right route for you. CeraVe - SA Smoothing Cleanser is a great face wash to try) or the DRUNK ELEPHANT - T.L.C. Sukari Babyfacial Mask is a great once a week treatment. What is your exfoliant routine and what products bring you the best results? I am currently using DRUNK ELEPHANT - T.L.C. Framboos Glycolic Resurfacing Night Serum and DRUNK ELEPHANT - T.L.C. Sukari Babyfacial Mask in my nighttime routine and loving the results!

My Mental Wellness Improved Through My Self AcceptanceWhen I was around 13 or 14 years old, I remember routinely taking one of my older sister’s black eyeliner pencils before school every morning. I’d arrive early so that I could slip away to the girl’s bathroom to apply a single black line to my eyelids. My parents didn’t allow me to wear any makeup at the time. Although this smudgy line on my eyelids didn’t make me look all that much different, I never felt comfortable at school without it. My teenage mind convinced myself that I needed some sort of cosmetic symbol in order to appropriately express my femininity. Up until that point in my life, society had told girls that looked like me - tall, Black, and with kinky hair - that we somehow weren’t as beautiful as the other girls. For far too long, I believed it too.Feb. 17
