Let’s talk hair
There are four hair tools this girl can’t live without! In all my years I’ve seen styles come and go (my mom is a retired stylist/salon owner) and these (to me) are classics - Blow dryer, obvs - invest in a good one, save not only time but also less damage to your hair . Flat Iron - I have straight hair but I still need to run my hair ‘quickly’ through when I want that sleek, smooth look - or to do a flat iron curl . Curling Iron - I absolutely swear by my BaByliss PRO - Nano Titanium Spring Curling Iron I’ve had it for going on eight years and it’s never let me down. It’s a 1” and the perfect size for my messy beach curls. My salon uses this and 1.5” Ulta has a 20% code right now on one item . amika: - High Tide Deep Waver - back in the 80’s my mom got her first crimper, cause ya know, it was all the rage, and I can still remember the first time she styled my hair with it...Quadna ski trip! But I continued to style my hair through the years even when it wasn’t popular cause I loved the look. And it’s back again! So I had to pick up the new Amika styler. Whatever ancient one I had was so bad for my hair 🙈 This is a classic y’all! Get yourselves one and you’ll never be out of style...with me ☺️ . So let’s now dive into a few ‘must have’ hair products. If you are using styling tools you absolutely must have some of these. Just like skincare products, you have to protect your hair as you would your face. . MOROCCANOIL - Moroccanoil Treatment I have very dry hair and this has been very helpful. A classic in the beauty community Color Wow Style on Steroids & One Minute Transformation The Ouai Heat Protection Spray & other products ORIBE - Balm d'Or Heat Styling Shield ORIBE - Thick Dry Finishing Spray (I’m a huge fan of Oribe- the products smell amazing) Milbon USA Thickening spray - oh so good. And it’s like perfume for your hair . These are just some of my favorites, not all are pictured. I have a lot of products that are for heat protection as well as volume (I don’t use hairspray). I’m on the hunt for a new s/c as I’ve been using Living Proof and my hair seems to be rebelling. Although a certain someone said the formula did change 😉 . Do you use protection products on your hair with styling tools? If so, which ones?

Ride the wave 🌊
For full transparency: I am an Amika affiliate and received this item gifted but opinions are 100% my own and wouldn’t recommend a product if I didn’t fully loved it. Do you remember deep waving your hair back in 2008? I was more of a straight hair kinda gal but I’m so happy I get to try easy, breezy beach waves today! The amika: - Ride the wave set includes the Best of Beauty 2019 Allure winner amika: - High Tide Deep Waver which is super easy to use even on short hair like mine! I can get my hair done in under 10 minutes 🙏🏼 The set also includes minis of their amika: - Perk Up Dry Shampoo which is my favorite dry shampoo ever, no white cast, smells amazing and my hair looks so fresh after using it. And the amika: - The Shield Anti-Humidity Spray which is great for frizzy hair, and amika: - Un.Done Volume and Matte Texture Spray great to add volume and get those perfect beach waves. I think this is a great set to try some of Amika’s best products and an amazing tool!

Battle of the Tools: T-Shirt vs Hair Dryer 🖤
Battle of the Tools: T-Shirt vs Hair Dryer 🖤
I’ve always had frizzy, wavy (it used to be a lot curlier but heat damage changed that 🤷🏻‍♀️), and unmanageable hair. I’m always willing to try new things to help make it a little easier to style day to day. I decided to do a battle of the beauty tools and test out the REVLON - One-Step Volumizer Hair Dryer vs a cotton t-shirt to see which dried my hair better (with less damage and frizz)! The Revlon blow dryer claims to give volume and shine in one step all while creating less frizz. They say the way the oval brush is designed it distributes the hot air in a way to dry your hair faster while creating less damage. It costs $59.99 but you can get it on sale on occasion. When I use this I part my hair in sections (like I do in the second slide), put the brush on the underside on the hair, and pull outwards. This has made blow drying my hair so easy! I have super thick hair and this makes it look super sleek like someone did it for me. I think the only cons are it’s very loud and can get a little heavy once I get towards the last section of my hair. That being said though it has three settings (low, high, and cool) and does give insane volume! I wouldn’t say it’s frizz free because my hair does have some frizz but the volume it gives me is unparalleled to any other product I have. The cotton t-shirt is a curly girl hack I’ve seen that’s supposed to dry your hair faster with less damage and frizz. This one is really easy because you probably already have a t-shirt in your own closet. I just ran to mine and grabbed the first one I saw. After washing I just took the t-shirt and gently squeezed my hair to get out excess water. I liked the fact it did create less damage on my hair because the t-shirt doesn’t have the grooves a towel would which can aggravate the hair. When I woke up in the morning it was a lot less frizzy than when I did the Revlon (third slide). That being said though it did give me less volume and more of a bed head look that would need additional styling afterwards. I think in the future I would use both but for different situations. I would use the revlon if I needed more volume and a more polished/styled look. I would do the cotton t shirt if I was looking to embrace more of my natural wave. While the revlon gave me beautiful volume and a sleek look it did come with frizz and some heat damage. The cotton t-shirt gave me less frizz and zero heat damage but it didn’t give me anymore volume than I normally have and left me with some bed head. I think in this case manual vs electronic all depends on which look you’re going for. Both are approved by me. If you’re looking for a good hair dryer as well I highly recommend the Revlon!

Revlon One Step Hair Dryer and Volumizer
This changed my life. My normal blow drying routine: 1. Start off well with a brush and a blow dryer following normal hair drying procedure. 2. My arms start to get tired and I am starting to get sick of trying to figure out how to twist my hands, twist the hair dryer, get the cord out of my face, which hand to hold which tool, and why I decided to blow dry my hair in the first place. 3. Get impatient, give up, flip my head upside down and blow dry while tousling my hair with my fingers. 4. Flip my head back up properly, look at the super poof and frizzy mess I have just created, and then wonder why I spent all that time trying to blow dry my hair when it would have looked like this (except less straight) if I had just let it air dry. If I could give this product more than 5 stars I would! Not only does this brush cut my drying time in half but it’s just so easy to use - one tool which does both the brushing and the drying. Pure genius! My hair has always been naturally frizzy and poofy and somewhere between straight and curly in a non flattering way (thanks mom and dad) but this makes it smooth while still giving me the volume I want so I don’t look like my hair is stuck to my head. Truly a salon blowout without spending the time or money at a salon. 10/10 would recommend. Super easy to use with my hair length. I have tried using it on other people with long hair and it still worked great but I have yet to try it on myself with long hair (but judging what I have heard and read it works just fine). It has 2 heat settings and a cool air setting. Normally I use the low setting as the high can get a little too hot my my scalp and fingers but the low setting works perfectly so long as you’re hair isn’t still dripping wet. Edit: the blurring around my head isn’t from me trying to edit out the frizz, it’s from the portrait mode on the iPhone camera 🙂

Life Changing Hair Dryer
Life Changing Hair Dryer
This blow dryer is so lightweight I only use one hand to maneuver it. Its oval shape makes it easy to get really close to your root and that is so beneficial especially with my curly hair. I personally love this blow dryer because it gives my hair that professional blowout look and straightens it enough that I really only use my straightener afterwards to tame the puffiness. Another benefit is it cuts down the time it takes to blow dry my hair by 20 mins.⁣ ⁣ Some things I would note is that this blow dryer pulls out just as much hair as a regular round brush does and it doesn’t completely control frizz. Overall, this blow dryer has made my life easier and I would recommend it for the quality, performance and price.

Revlon One-Step Volumizer Hair Dryer
REVLON - One-Step Volumizer Hair Dryer This has changed my liiiiiiiiiiiiiiiife I will never use a regular hair dryer again. This is the fastest my hair has ever dried and the most volume my flat straight hair has ever had. This is absolutely worth it and is about $59. You can curl the ends in or out depending on how you want to use it. It has a high head setting, a low heat setting. And a cool setting to set your look. Would 100% buy this again.

BEST hair dryer for Mom! Affordable & Versatile
BEST hair dryer for Mom! Affordable & Versatile
It was so hyped up that I felt sure I’d be disappointed. All my friends told me to get on this tool, im not sure why I waited to long!  I have VERY curly, frizzy hair, so I thought I needed to use a $400 blow drier in order to keep my hair healthy and looking good. Boy, was I wrong! The $400 drier, whose name I won’t mention, did nothing special for my hair- it still looked damaged, it still took an hour to dry, and no matter how hard I tried, it just wasn’t worth the money. Mother’s day is coming so I decide to buy it for my Mom! If you or your mom like me, have  curly hair, highly  recommend it!

Revlon’s One-Step Hair Dryer & Volumizer
Revlon’s One-Step Hair Dryer & Volumizer Hot Air Brush is a game changer. It truly gives a salon quality blow out. I have so much more volume and bounce after using this dryer. I prefer this over the Dry Bar version, which is 3x more expensive and more harsh on my hair type. I have fine hair, and a lot of it. I find that I achieve the best results when I dry 80% of my hair with a normal blow dryer and finish my blow out with this tool. Don’t forget heat protectant spray!
