best & blah hair products @ Sephora 🌟
BEST & BLAH 👉🏻 Sephora Edition 😌🙌🏼 We all know the holy grail products we can find at Sephora. For me, I flock to the shelves for Ouai, a haircare line quite popular in the IG community 💡Before trying out their line, I was always skeptical of the value in their products. Come on, is this really worth it? I was an avid fan of it's a 10 haircare - Leave-In Conditioner Spray Product , my holy grail for my wavy, thick hair (which, is extremely damaged!) I could always count on that single product after washing my hair to smooth my hair and aid in softening my ends. Eventually, I had to try out Ouai haircare. After bleaching my hair to its absolute end, I knew I needed to find quality products when it came to styling my hair. My hair had always been picky with the products it uses, especially when it came to styling products. Sticky, thick and too drying formulas turn me off. So, when needing to find my “best and blah,” I knew I had to put Ouai in the hot seat. 1. OUAI - OUAI Wave Spray This one left my hair tacky, even with a minimal amount of product sprayed on. My waves weren’t much defined as they would be without this product. This one is $12 (small bottle) at Sephora. Worth it? No, not in my opinion. A better alternative is NOT YOUR MOTHER'S - Beach Babe Soft Waves Spray . 2. OUAI - OUAI Volume Spray Hmmm.. perhaps my hair is thick enough to have volume already. Nevertheless, I was not a huge fan of this volume spray. I used it before blowing my hair out and all it did for me was add more product onto my hair, no volume. Worth it? No 😭 I tried my best to like this product but I can’t bring myself to pay $26. 3. OUAI - Dry Shampoo Foam A NEW DRY SHAMPOO FAVORITE! I love this formula (mousse-like) and the smell. It leaves a refreshing and cooling feeling on my scalp. Worth it? YES. I’ll definitely be buying this again, worth the $28! 4. gisou - Honey Infused Hair Oil This is a great hair oil, don’t get me wrong. I enjoyed the packaging, the consistency and the result of my hair after smoothing this into it; HOWEVER, $46 doesn’t sit right with me for a hair oil so is it worth it? Not for me. 5. eva·nyc - Mane Magic 10-in-1 Primer I enjoyed the smell and lightweight spray of the nozzle, offering a lighter application of the product. But, too much and your hair gets STICKY. Beware of the amount you use. If used right, it’s worth your time. Worth it? $12 for a great heat protectant is worth it to me! 6. gisou - Propolis Infused Polishing Primer Ehhhh, I couldn’t find the value in this for me. I heard a lot of people talk about their hair feeling smoother after styling once using this; however, I personally couldn’t notice a difference. I loved the creamy texture but I can’t purchase it again. Worth it? $34 isn’t worth it for me 😭
Drying and styling hair is a big project…
Hair texture： Thin and soft，hard to be styled！ 😭 Drying and styling hair is a big project every morning after shampoo, especially for girls with long hair. One easy tactic that I found was to use wave spray before blow drying every inch of my hair, where drying and styling can both get done in a single procedure and saves so much time in a hustling morning. Wave sprays are easy to use. I simply apply the sprays throughout my hair, mainly in the hair roots, after shower, and blow my hair to dry. For my semi-curly hair, just a simple step of spraying can guarantee the wavy style and volumize my thin hair with hairdryer, and the natural and fluffy hairstyle could last for the entire day. I have been using OUAI wave spray in the last 2 years and like it a lot until I have got my new spray a few months ago. OUAI is an American hair product brand specialized in hair styling and nutrition. And my new spray is from Shiseido, a popular middle-high end skin and hair care brand from Japan. They both are in the same price range – for around $20 per bottle. To be fair, they both work very well in creating fluffy appearance of the hair, but after using the new product for months, I realized that there are obvious differences. In comparison, I found Shiseido works better for my hair type and lasts for longer. It is very apparent that the compositions of the sprays are different – OUAI wave spray is a liquid spray while Shiseido spray is made of powder. The powders made Shiseido spray so much easier to spread through the hair and is non-sticky. And because the powder is designed to resist the moist, the hair can stay fluffy and natural even in the evening, while OUAI spray only last for 5-6 hours in the summer until the fluffy hair falls back down. In conclusion, the powder spray is more suitable for the summer and especially for people who works long hours and still need their hair to look nice and fluffy in the evening, while OUAI wave spray is just enough to meet your basic need in styling. Saying Goodbye 👋🏼
This past year I’ve been very aware of my purchases and also very cautious about what I’m bringing into my makeup/beauty collection. Every once and a while I will do a little bit of a declutter and make sure I’m only keeping the things that I’m using on a weekly, or at least monthly basis. This most recent declutter I noticed these two products and realized I haven’t reached for them in months. OFRA - OFRA Highlighter is a beautiful formula- it’s what makes these so many people’s favorite highlighter, it easily glides over the top of whatever product you have underneath and gives you an intense glow. The only reason I’m getting rid of this is because my taste in highlighters have changed and I now like much more soft, more of a “lit from within” type of glow. A couple highlighters that I love and give me this effect are the MARC JACOBS BEAUTY - Irresistible Glow Highlighter Collection & my ride or die MAYA CHIA - The Highlight of the Day The #SGX NYC - So Whipped[products]#[FourStars] is a whipped mousse formula that is supposed to calm frizz, define natural curls, and create a little bit of hold- I do think that this does all of these things, but it’s in the smallest way and I have so many other products that give me better results! Currently I’m obsessed with the eva·nyc - Mane Magic 10-in-1 Primer it smells unbelievable and gives my hair such a smooth texture without getting weighed down! The spray nozzle gives the lightest diffused mist so it’s very difficult to overdo it and use too much, highly highly recommend this one! I’ve found regular declutters and being deliberate about what products I bring into my collection really helpful. It’s let me find what my personal taste is and which products I’ll tend to gravitate for and will actually use on a daily basis!
Battle of the Budget 10-in-1s!
I’m all about low maintenance hair and saving money, so of course I have to review these 2 drugstore hair primers. I’ll be breaking down the winner by category and tallying the winner! Round 1: price- both are a standard 6 oz, but NYM is $7 while Eva is $12. Both are affordable but NYM wins this one. Round 2: texture- Eva is definitely the heavier of the 2 options, you can tell by the fineness of the mist. This is likely due to it’s high amount of oils in the ingredient lists, which is very good for moisture. Personally tho, since my hair is straight and fine, this tends to weight down my hair. Contrastingly, the NYM first ingredient is water which is probably why it’s lighter and cheaper. This round is a tie. Round 3: scent- Both of these are scented with fragrance showing up in the middle of the ingredients list. The Eva product is a stronger, fruity scent that is close to Viva la Juicy perfume, a personal classic of middle school. The NYM is also sweet, but closer to candy than fruit. It’s also lighter than Eva. This round is subjective for sure, but I give it to Eva since I prefer a strong scent if something is scented. Round 4: usage- by this I mean does it really do 10 things? Eva doesn’t list the 10 things on the bottle, but NYM claims to add body, detangle, add shine, protect, moisturize, control frizz, repair dry hair, heat protection, mend split ends, and create silkiness. I think a few of those are repeats, however the one it doesn’t follow through on is repairing dry hair. When I used NYM, I had to add an additional leave-in conditioner to keep my ends from looking dry. Eva doesn’t add body for me since it can make my hair look oily. Again, a tie! Round 5: flexibility- I find that I’m able to use NYM in more situations than Eva. With Eva, I only use as a heat protector since other usage tends to make my hair look wet or oily. I can use NYM as a detangler before I air dry, to calm down bed head, and to heat protect. This round goes to NYM! Results: I prefer NOT YOUR MOTHER'S - All Eyes On Me 10-in-1 Hair Perfector though honestly these products are pretty similar. I think the eva·nyc - Mane Magic 10-in-1 Primer would work well for someone with thicker or curly hair because mine couldn’t stand up to the oils. Neither are perfect holy grails, but good for the price.

How I fully transitioned and grew my 4b/c hair
My hair journey is something that means a lot to me. As a child I was always known to have hair so long it reached the middle of my back. Whether my hair was curly, straight, braided or in twists it generated a lot of talk. That’s why when I went natural and lost basically all the length that I somewhat had it was such a shocker. I was natural as a child before I began to get a relaxer at around 3rd grade. It was needed since my mom had just gotten over breast cancer for a second time and my long thick curls were too much for her to take care of. My hair still retained its length, even as I went into middle school but once I hit 9th grade I’d realized something. My length was gone. Now I will say SOOOO many hair mistakes were made when I began doing my own hair in high school. I put too much heat to it, I manipulated it too much, and I didn’t care about my strands enough. I honestly don’t know at what point I realized I wanted to go natural but at the end of my sophomore year I did. My mother who is a very traditional black woman when it comes to hair made it crystal clear there was no way in hell I was getting the big chop I wanted. Because of this I was forced to transition over. I vividly remember the first product I used as a natural being SheaMoisture - Coconut & Hibiscus Curl Enhancing Smoothie this served a good purpose since my number one goal at the time was curl definition. I don’t mind that as much anymore because I have come to terms with the fact that my hair type is NOT loose curls. Since quarantine that goal has changed. My goal I’m March went from “how do I get my hair to curl” to “okay how do I retain length and keep my hair healthy” and I knew my answer. Braids. I’ll be the one to say I absolutely LOVE braids but I HATE getting them professionally done for so many reasons. The main one being when my scalp gets too dirty the braids gotta go. That is a problem when braids cost 100 and I’m over them in a month 🗿. This pushed me to doing my own braids minus the braiding hair. Every two-three weeks I take my braids out, condition my dry dirty hair, wash the conditioner out, wash my hair, deep condition, and prep my hair for braids. Sometimes I blow dry my hair before I braid it (because I want the length😗) and sometimes I just braid my coily hair as is. This has helped keep my hair healthy and grow it all quarantine. These are the products I’ve used: AFRiCAN PRIDE - Olive Miracle Anti-Breakage Leave-in Conditioner AFRiCAN PRIDE - Olive Miracle Anti-Breakage Growth Oil DOO GRO - Mega Thick Hair Oil ECOCO - Eco Style Argan Oil Gel ECOCO - Eco Style Professional Styling Gel Black Castor & Flaxseed Oil cantu - Argan Oil Leave-In Conditioning Repair aussie - Miracle Moist 3 Minute Miracle with Avocado for Dry Hair Repair Maui MOISTURE - Heal & Hydrate + Shea Butter Hair Mask Aunt Jackie's - Don't Shrink Elongating Curling Gel
Curly Girl Method! I've tried these so you don't need to try again!
I've tried several hair products for curly hair, and these are my favorite! Shampoos SheaMoisture - Argan Oil and Almond Milk Shampoo It smells like milk. I love that and the way this made my hair feel. Very smooth and non-greasy after washing. Conditioners SheaMoisture - Superfruit Complex 10 in 1 Renewal System Conditioner Some people don't like its scent, but I personally can accept it. The moisturizing effect is perfect. TRESemmé - Botanique Nourish + Replenish With Coconut Milk & Aloe Vera Conditioner It's affordable and it's so large that you can use it for a long time. Apply it and wait 5-8 minutes, then your hair will be like seaweed. Kinky-Curly - Knot Today, Natural Leave In / Detangler It smells like coconut. I use it as a moisturizer. I have now purchased 3 bottles of this. My hair cannot get enough. It is pricey, but so worth it. It is the best leave in conditioner I have ever tried. The best part about it is it's sans silicones sulfates or waxes. If you're looking for a great detangler that doesn't leave your hair greasy, this is the one for you. Leave-in conditioners SheaMoisture - Jamaican Black Castor Oil Strengthen & Restore Leave-In Conditioner It is a little greasy. I brush my hair with this leave in in during the shower and it keeps my hair silky and curls not frizzy Hair masks SheaMoisture - Jamaican Black Castor Oil Strengthen & Restore Masque I use it once every two weeks, staying for 15-20 minutes before washing off. After using it, it helps hydrate my hair. It’s very light and doesn’t dry with any residue! It leaves my curls feeling light weight! Curl defining gels DevaCurl - Light Defining Gel Soft Hold No-Crunch Styler I have medium length curly hair and I use about a quarter size for the initial scrunch from ends to root. I touch up around the entire head with another quarter size. Let dry and scrunch to release the cast from the gel. My hair and curls are so happy with this product. It is the holy grail for sure. SheaMoisture - Coconut & Hibiscus Curl Enhancing Smoothie I use it to apply a little bit to the hair before setting. It makes your hair look a little oily.
get the samples. gel is worth the hold!
it's another wash day which means new products to try. I've been fairly committed to Act+Acre - Mini Cleanse + Conditioner the last few washes. always remember to 1 shake the product and 2 shampoo twice. a little goes a long way. Emulsify!!!!! after shampooing twice (I used MIELLE - Moisture RX Hawaiian Ginger Moisturizing Leave-In Conditioner and MIELLE - Honey & Ginger Styling Gel in my last wash which did not pass the water soluble test. this means it is probably causing build up on my hair) I conditioned and detangled with my Wet brush - Wetbrush Shower Flex next I tried my SAMPLES JESSICURL. - Rockin' Ringlets Styling Potion gives great slip. you do need to ratook the sample. after all it is a small amount but the sample packet was enough to fully cover my head. I made sure to to 4 big sections and make sure I got it in there. gives great slip. I then used my #behairful - the professional detangler[products]#[FiveStars] to comb through sections for great definition I used my sample of JESSICURL. - Spiralicious Styling Gel which has a flax seed gel consistency. I was able to get about 3 quarter size amounts out the sample that u used the praying hands method to massage in. I scrunched in the last quarter size amount throughout my hair wet plopped for about 10 to 15 minutes in a shower cap I intended on diffusing but work meetings pulled me away and by the time I picked my the blow dryer, most of my hair formed a cast. but I diffused a bit nonetheless and I've posted pictures of my day 3 hair. any suggestions or recommendations?
Hi everyone! So I guess you can say that I jumped on the bandwagon from the famous “Tic Tock” world and decided to wrap my hair in SOCKS! To my surprise it came out OK. I say ok bc it was very frizzy but I think that’s bc I didn’t use any hair cream. I also did this while my hair was wet. All in all I think it went good. The twisting my hair around the socks was awkward at first bc I had to roll and twist away from my scalp. Once I got the hang of it, it took all bit 5 minutes to do. Sleeping with sock knots on my head was not very comfortable but I was very tired so I slept well regardless. I divided my hair into 7 sections to make this so called sock masterpiece. The back was the hardest part. When I took the socks out my hair was very fluffy and frizzy. I had to use ALOT of mouse and hairspray to calm it down like ten levels. I noticed as the day went on and the curls relaxed it looked a whole lot BETTER. I have wavy/curly hair to begin with so the sucks added lots of texture and volume!! This Heatless curl trend gets a 6 out of 10 in my book. I feel that anyone with any hair type can do this. I have it a 6 because I was not thrilled about how it all came out but I didn’t hate it at the same time......... Go try it and tell me what you think!!!!!! Always remember that beauty is inside and out!!!💜💜💜 TIGI - Full of It Volume Finishing Spray NOT YOUR MOTHER'S - Curl Talk Curl Activation Mousse NOT YOUR MOTHER'S - Beach Babe Texturizing Sea Salt Spray

Easy and Quick Blowout at Home 💋💁♀️✨
Hey Cherie Fam 🍒 Merry Christmas 🎁 to all! I hope 🤞 everyone got what they wanted from Santa 🎅 My sister got me the revlon one-step blow dryer and volumizer for Christmas and I am STOKED. I have been wanting this for a long time, but slept on it and never bit the bullet. I have never been more excited to wash my hair in my life. I couldn’t wait to try this! My hair is color treated so it is extremely dry. I need a high moisturizing conditioner and apply leave in-conditioners, anti-frizz and perfecting oils other wise my hair will be a nightmare. I use Unite leave in conditioner, IGK good behavior and Davines Oi Oil to prepare my hair then I use my wet brush pro quick epic dry. I section my hair and start blow drying from the bottom. IGK - Good Behavior Spirulina Protein Anti-Frizz Smoothing Spray davines - Oi Oil unite - 7 Seconds Detangler Wet brush - Epic Professional Quick Dry I only tried this for the first time and so far I am impressed. My hair is shiny, frizz-free and voluminous. It’s not as good as how my hair dresser does it, but I’ve never seen my hair look this good. It looks even better than when I flat iron it. There are 3 settings. High, low and cool. I use high because I have thick and longer hair. However, if you have short and thin hair I will recommend using the low setting because it gets really hot. I use the cool setting after I’m done so I set my hair. Be careful and make sure you keep your hands on the handles only. This burns as hot as a curling iron. I made that mistake and don’t want you to burn your fingers. REVLON - Salon One-Step Hair Dryer and Volumizer First impression is so far so good. I will definitely use this every time I wash my hair. Happy holidays again and hope you’re all staying safe Xoxo, Francesca 💋
Keratin in a bottle 💎
💎 The IGK - Good Behavior Spirulina Protein Anti-Frizz Smoothing Spray is an excellent product for thick hair that is prone to frizz in humidity. Living in nyc, the summers are known to feel like stepping out into a fishbowl. The air feels damp with humidity. 💎 I received this in a previous months boxy charm and immediately put it to use, especially after the stay at home order was implemented and hair salons were closed (my keratin touch up would have to wait) 💎 Now, this is a temporary solution. I’m able to get about two days worth of frizz free hair after using this product. After washing my hair, I dry my hair with a microfiber towel or old T-shirt and then spray this liberally all over my hair. The product is sealed in with heat, and also acts as a heat protectant when blow drying. 💎 Do not apply this product to wet hair and then flat iron your hair. Either air dry or blow dry your hair, then use this product and flat iron your hair. #CheriePartner

Best Drugstore Find for Curly Hair
One of my favourite things of the Allure Best of Beauty Awards is when a drugstore product wins a category! It makes me try a new product that I would have never considered. I’ve been fighting frizzy hair and thinking about what expensive shampoo & conditioner I needed to buy to tackle my messy hair. I have thin, curly / wavy hair. I rarely have time to style my hair. 99% of the time I let my hair air dry. Most days my hair ends up in a messy bun because somehow that looks less messy than the frizziness of my curls. I bought MOROCCANOIL - Curl Defining Cream because of its great reviews online. It was $38, a little expensive for a hair product. It definitely helped with frizz, but wasn’t the miracle worker I was hoping for. In steps the Allure Best of Beauty 2020 winner for curly hair shampoo & conditioner, #Herbal Essences - Potent Aloe + Mango Shampoo[products]#[FiveStars] #Herbal Essences - Potent Aloe + Mango Conditioner[products]#[FiveStars] Available at my local drugstore for $10.99 each and I found them on sale for $5.99 🙌 They are rich in mango that has Vitamin A & C to strengthen and nourish hair. Aloe helps hydrate the hair. The shampoo & conditioner are free of parabens and sulfates. I noticed an immediate difference after using this shampoo & conditioner. My hair was shiny, smooth, and had volume, something I really struggle with having thin hair! In my photo above I washed & conditioned my hair with Herbal Essences, added one pump of the Moroccanoil, and let my hair air dry on a walk to the park. These are my new holy grail shampoo & conditioner! No need to spend $30+ on a fancy shampoo. And no need for any styling!
Sephora Holiday Sale Haul
This is 35! My husband recently joked “is the fact that you’re turning 35 the reason why you got so into skincare recently?”. The truth is probably yes. The Sephora Holiday Sale lined up perfectly with my 35th birthday this week, so I bought myself some new products to try. Happy Birthday to me 🥳 Here’s what I got & why & first impressions: Sephora Birthday Gift Milk MAKEUP - Lip + Cheek Shade Werk. I used this product today and loved it! I will add it to my minimal daily make-up routine. Can be easily thrown into your purse. Adds a pop of colour to my cheeks & lips. I like that it’s matte. Living proof. - 5-in-1 Styling Treatment from Rewards Bazar. Looking to test how this product compares to MOROCCANOIL - Curl Defining Cream that I have been using recently. 99% of the time I add some product to damp hair and let it air dry. SEPHORA COLLECTION - Bright Future Gel Serum Concealer I purchased this as a dupe to the Nars Concealer. It retails for $18 vs. $39 for Nars. It went on very smooth. I loved the feel. But it was lighter coverage than I was hoping. I felt like I could still see my dark circles under the concealer. Im looking forward to introducing an acid into my routine. I bought The Ordinary - Lactic Acid 10% + HAbecause it was less than $10, so it let’s me try something new in my routine without a huge investment. I also got Kate Somerville - Liquid ExfoliKate Triple Acid Resurfacing Treatmentfrom the Rewards Bazar. I will try the products separately and see which product I prefer. You can look forward to a comparison post in the future :) Similarly, I’ve been reading a lot about Vitamin C and really wanted to add a Vit C serum to my AM routine. I was debating a couple different products, but the prices were $80+ and I found the reviews really mixed. So, I decided to start with The Ordinary - Ascorbic Acid 8% + Alpha Arbutin 2%it was less than $10 and includes Alpha Arbutin, which is great for hyperpigmentation. I will let you know what I think! Next, I picked up GLAMGLOW - Youthmud Glow Stimulating & Exfoliating Treatment Mask from the Rewards Bazar. Tingled a lot the first couple minutes. It did leave my skin looking very smooth & clean. But, it’s $99 for 3.5oz! So, I won’t be running out to purchase. Finally, I decided buy the hyped LANEIGE - LANEIGE Lip Sleeping Mask Lips are one of the areas I’ve neglected. I’ve started to notice my lips aren’t as full and losing their colour. I was hesitant to spend $26 on a lip mask, but Im happy that it’s a good size jar that will last a while. Love the little applicator brush. It feels very luxurious applying it. I like the consistency. Not as thick as I was expecting. I like the berry scent. Dare I say after two nights of using it my lips feel more hydrated, plumper and even younger!

Empty hair favorites
I have fine hair that is easily weighed down by leave in treatments. It’s hard to find good products that help keep my hair looking healthy and create body. I have a short, textured bob style OUAI - Texturizing Hair Spray I love all of Ouai products that I’ve tried. This is a great spray that I add once my hair is styled to give me amazing body and some definition I desire. I typically like to wash my hair only 1-2 times a week and this is a product that doesn’t dry or damage my hair if left in for several days. MOROCCANOIL - Treatment Light I’m a HUGE fan of this oil because once again, it’s so very difficult for me to find any products that don’t weigh my hair down. I always used BioSilk or It’s A Ten but both were more of an overnight treatment than an everyday option. Then I received a sample of the MoreoccanOil and haven’t used anything else since. I decided to purchase the light as the original is ok for me but the light just is the best option. All I need is a dime size and my hair has a beautiful, healthy shine. Living proof. - Color Care Whipped Glaze I’m a fan of Living Proof so when I saw a mini of this Whipped Glaze with the color care shampoo/conditioner I decided to give it a shot. It’s a whipped glaze that deposits temporary dyes to instantly boost vibrancy and counteract color fading and brassiness. You add it to your hair once it is clean and towel dried, working from roots to end. My hair is the bright blood you see. I can get just a tad yellow and like to add a toner to counteract. I’ve tried several but haven’t had much luck with them. My stylist, who is a renowned blonde specialist (Chrissy Rassmusen @hairbychrissy) says the wrong toners can actually give the opposite effect one is looking for. So I did give this one ⭐️⭐️⭐️ as I believe it can work for some, it just didn’t give me the desire I like. Actually, I didn’t see any change at all. It was light weight and worked well in my hair in that aspect (as a leave-in product) I may explain this horribly but I like a very bright, vibrant blonde and sometimes adding these toners can turn my hair to the more “ashy” blonde. Both are beautiful, I just don’t like that tone against my skin. There are so many ranges of blondes these days 🤯 who knew 🤷♀️ just take one look at Chrissy’s page and you’ll see! I have some more finished products to review for you this week! Skincare of course 😁 ❤️🍒
Instagram made me buy it! Ouai (pronounced as way), means yes, in a casual Parisian way. This brand is everywhere and promoted by our favorite beauty gurus, celebrities and the most influential family, the Kardashians. I love its modern and minimalist packaging. It really stands out when you enter Sephora. It is also a cruelty free brand yay! For me, it’s really important to use products that are safe and free from any harmful chemicals. Another reason why I love Ouai as their products are formulated without parabens and sulfates. OUAI - Texturizing Hair Spray This is a hair spray and a dry shampoo in one. I use this after curling my hair to add more volume. The holding power is not that strong but it works well to tame my baby hair when I do a high tie ponytail. The most effective way is to flip your hair upside down, spray and scrunch using just your fingers. It doesn’t leave a heavy residue but it makes my hair oily the day after I used it. Other than I love this product and it smells amazing! OUAI - OUAI Wave Spray I grew up in the tropics and one of my essentials when going to the beach is a good wave spray. I bought this in mini and used in during my travel to Bali. Nothing special about this but it does the job of creating beachy waves and enhances the hair texture. OUAI - Rose Hair & Body Oil I actually prefer to use it on my skin. It is light and fast absorbing. I would always bring this with me to the beach and combine it with my tanning lotion and it works perfectly everytime. The scent is not overpowering, dispenses easily & a little goes a long way. #cheriepartner@cherie

COMBINATION HAIR CARE ROUTINE 💆🏽♀️
Combination hair; it’s so little talked about but many of us are dealing with it! What is it: Combination hair is usually when an individual has an oily scalp with dry ends. This translates to the oils from the scalp are having trouble working their way down to the ends. Who is more prone to have this hair type: -curly hair -frizzy hair -long hair How I care for it: -It’s important to realize you are essentially trying to treat 2 different hair types at once. (Ex: Using hair products for dry hair will not help the oiliness.) -SHAMPOO/CONDITIONER : instead of using the same shampoo and conditioners. Buy a clarifying shampoo specified for oily hair and a moisturizing conditioner for dry ends. I shampoo and condition 2x a week. -MASKING: it makes sense to use 2 different hair masks for the two different concerns. I mask 1x a week. For my scalp I use a clarifying mask in the shower and for my ends, I apply a moisturizing repair mask to damp hair. -CARE TIPS: * use a detangler spray on your hair before brushing out. It will help cause less damage. * Use a boar bristle brush daily to help spread the natural scalp oils down the skin. * Use a wide tooth comb in the shower after conditioning. * On those days where your scalp is looking a little greasy, opt for a dry shampoo. * On those days you want more shine to your ends, use a hair oil. Just make sure not to apply to the scalp! I have been sticking to this routine for about a month and I have noticed less knots and tangles, shinier ends and a more manageable oily scalp. Products used: Shampoo:NOT YOUR MOTHER'S - Activated Bamboo Charcoal & Purple Moonstone Restore & Reclaim Shampoo Conditioner:NOT YOUR MOTHER'S - Naturals Royal Honey & Kalahari Desert Melon Repair & Protect Conditioner ( this product smells so so good! How To Detangle Hair Without Damaging It
I have fine medium length wavy hair. I have been really focusing on trying to grow it longer. The key to growing it longer is keeping it from getting damaged. My hair tangles very easily after washing it and when I sleep on it. With trial and error with all types of products and tools, I discovered my go steps to less damage and detangling the right way. I purchased the Wet brush that is meant for detangling hair. I never realized that brushing my hair with the incorrect brush when my hair is wet or dry can really do damage over time. This brush was really life changing for my hair. I use it on my wet hair once I am out of the shower or even sometimes in the shower after conditioning. The bristles are really soft and when you use it, it doesn’t pull at your hair at all. I start from the bottom of my hair and work my way up. I have noticed I was losing a lot less hair when I started using this. It is worth trying to prevent further damage in the future. I will not go without it. There is also a product I will use while brushing my hair wet that helps with any knots. It is the Dry Bar Prep Rally, Prime and prep detangler. This product has definitely been a game changer with my hair. Not only does it help with any tangles, it also is heat protectant. So, when you use any hot tools, blow dryer, straightener, or curling iron it will help protect your hair from any damage. I will apply only when my hair is wet all over. This is something I will not go without after washing my hair. I lose less hair and after blowing drying it leaves it soft and smooth and smelling amazing.

TOP 3 AMIKA PRODUCTS FOR VOLUME

Hair Care 👩🏻🦰
I have always tried to take good care of my hair so I have experimented with so many products. These are all my currently favorites: •☀️ Nature Lab. - Shine Clarifying Scalp Scrub - I use this after shampooing & being using conditioner. This stuff foams up sooo much so you really only need a pea sized amount! It makes my roots so soft & shiny! Love it!! •☀️ RAW SUGAR - Healing Power Hair Masque - I put this in my hair after washing out conditioner & leave it in for about 5-10 minutes in the shower while I shave & wash my body. I can’t believe how soft this makes my hair! I can’t live without this stuff!! •☀️ Apothecary BLVD Thickening Biotin Leave-In ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - I actually use this extra brand of shampoo & conditioner & I love them so I figured why not try the leave-in too! I’m so glad I did because it has helped my hair growth so much & helped me get rid of so much breakage that I have always dealt with! •☀️MOROCCANOIL - Moroccanoil Treatment - I have used this stuff for YEARS! It is so amazing & you only need a little bit! It makes your hair so soft & shiny but it doesn’t weigh it down like other oil products tend to. It literally gives your hair this beautiful glow! Such a must have!! •☀️ JOHN FRIEDA - Secret Weapon Touch-Up Crème - This stuff is my holy grail!! I have always had some breakage on top of my head, leaving these annoying little hairs that always stick up! Well this stuff holds them all down without making my hair hard or even looking like I have product in! I wish I had found this stuff sooner!!! Have you ever used any of these products? What are you absolutely favorite hair products?? 💖 @cherie@Cheriebeauty@CheriePick

Kristin Ess Target hair care line 😍
This is by no means my full Kristin Ess collection but these are a few that I’m going to run through today for you all! I’ve been a big fan of Kristin Ess since her days writing hair articles for The Beauty Deparment website so when I saw her line come out at target, clearly I was all for it! I think she has something for just about everyone within her giant collection at Target! KRISTIN ESS - Cleansing Co-Wash So I have some weird frizzy yet flat, coarse but thin hair so I find everything simultaneously too heavy and not hydrating enough for my hair. This co-wash has been a game changer for me. It feels like a conditioner and doesn’t lather but when I focus it on my roots and section my hair like the bottle mentions, my hair feels so clean but so soft after using it! It doesn’t feel greasy at all! I usually normal wash my hair, no wash the next day, and then day 3 I will use this in lieu of normal shampoo/conditioner, then no wash, then back to shampoo again. I’ve found this combo to be the sweet spot for me in terms of not over washing my hair. This product doesn’t really have the capability to strip oils so I barely count it as a heavy wash day, but it does make my hair look fab! Curly girls or people with thick hair would probably LOVE this! KRISTIN ESS - Instant Lift Thickening Spray I had high hopes for this one and it didn’t quite live up but I still enjoy it. First of all, I didn’t read this directions. I thought this was a product for dry hair to add lift to the root. Instead it is for semi-wet hair when blow drying (which I almost never do). It smells a bit of alcohol which isn’t awful but also not great. Luckily it doesn’t last. When I do use it correctly, there is some lift in my root and some texture which is nice. KRISTIN ESS - Weightless Shine Air Dry Crème This is another one I wish I loved more. I don’t notice it do all that much other than give my hair a little bit of shine. I haven’t noticed much with frizz reduction which is really what I was hoping for. It didn’t help my hair dry faster or better but either. I still use it while it’s drying to add a bit of shine but I probably wouldn’t repurchase this one. KRISTIN ESS - Fragrance Free Texturizing Paste I love this product! The texturizing paste is in the fragrance free line which is always nice for those sensitive to smell or who just prefer not to use fragrance. It’s a moderately thin paste compared to some so it spreads in your hands easily for even application to your hair. I usually tousle my ends with it for a piecey look since my hair is naturally wavy, and then take whatever is left on my hands and scrunch it into my root area for some volume and definition up there too. It doesn’t leave any crunchy areas, or make my hair look slick. It just adds some nice texture and that’s really it.

I’m Gonna Say it: Holy Grail Hair Care! ✨
So about a month ago I made a post with a bunch of minis I brought home, and two of them were these two products, and I feel confident to give reviews on these now! A quick background in my hair: My hair is naturally extremely thin and I have 2c/3a curls (a blend of wavy and ringlets) as well as being high porosity (they dry sooo fast like literally one pat with a towel). I’ve been dying my hair for a long time, and because of that, for the last several years I’ve suffered breakage, split and brittle ends, and a lack of bounce in my natural curl. I’ve been growing my hair out for years and stalled on length because the ends just kept breaking off, and there were a lot of times where I would break down in tears because I just wanted long pretty hair. I spent tons of money going through masks and leave ins and oils and nothing helped longer than 24 hours. Enter OUAI - OUAI Leave-In Conditioner I bought the travel size of this and pictured above is the full size (I only used the travel size like 3 times before I was completely sold on it). After just one use, I finally felt like my hair was shiny and soft, something I hadn’t experienced in years of rotating through products. My friend actually noticed it over facetime the next day with zero prompting! I was so excited I washed my hair a day early the next time so I could use it again. Now, my hair is shinier than ever and it actually feels like my hair is stronger! No more little pieces break off when I brush it and I feel like it’s safe to finally use heat on it again (even though I don’t want to bc my curls look so good!!). I couldn’t be happier with this product, I want to buy like 4 more bottles now so I never run out even though a little goes a long way. My actual holy grail. I would give it 10 stars if I could. The OUAI - OUAI Wave Spray I got with it is also a fantastic product I bought a full size of quickly too. My biggest beef with “sea salt” sprays has always been the nasty play-doh smell and the residue that feels impossible to wash out of my hair. First and foremost I love the way this spray smells sooooo much, it’s delicious and sexy, very feminine and lovely. The other thing I love is that it uses rice starch instead of salt than can be drying and leave a sticky residue. Although this spray leaves a little texture, it’s definitely tolerable for day 3 or 4 (or 5 or 6 😬) hair and the perfect thing to bring life back to my curls.

Cheap black hair care products
I’m 19 and trying to become more financially independent but haircare, especially black hair care, for (mostly) 4b hair is SO expensive! Especially when you’ve been picky about your hair for so long! Does anyone know of any sulfate and silicone free products that are on the cheaper side of things? I tagged all my currently used products. P.s. sorry about the awkward crop, this was the most recent picture of my natural hair
