Eye shadow saver - UD Eye Shadow Primer
URBAN DECAY - Eyeshadow Primer Potion Original $24 This primer is very good. I’ve used it for awhile now and can confidently back it. I tend to wait for it to go on sale, since it’s usually on sale for $12, instead of the retail price of $24. This primer helps keep my shadow in place longer and keeps creasing at a minimal, which is very nice. This primer also pairs well with all the various brands of eye shadows that I’ve tried, so it can be used even if you decide to change your brand of eye shadow. One thing I do have to say is that they changed the packaging and even thought the new packaging is a lot more appealing to the eyes, it’s not as good as the old packaging in terms of cleanliness. The old packaging was a squeeze tube form, where you squeeze the primer onto your finger and apply it using your finger, and the new packaging contains a brush inside the tube. I dislike the new packaging because I felt like it makes the primer inside the tuner dirty since my brush is touching various things when not inside the tube. It feels like it’ll easily make the rest of the primer in the tube dirty. If they go back to the older packaging, I would be so stoked.

Urban Decay-eyeshadow primer potion original
I don’t normally use eyeshadow primer but when I had the opportunity to try this I was seriously Impressed. The applicator makes it easy to apply and there is a little gadget inside the tube that allows for just the right amount. It dries quickly but not so fast that I had difficulty applying an even amount. I definitely noticed a difference when applying my eyeshadow. I also feel like it lengthened the overall wear time of my eyeshadow.

Glitter Primer - Worth it?
I decided to see if the glitter glue/primer that is supposed to minimize glitter fallout and can be used with glitter or foil and leaves it looking bright and pigmented. I decided to do a half-face test to check if it actually does what it claims. . You can’t tell off the photos, but the glitter primer on my left eye made the glitter stick better and blend more seamlessly with the mattes I used. I first tapped a small amount (the amount in the picture was actually enough for both eyes) and then took the silver out of the Huda Smokey palette (used this for my entire look) and tapped it onto the glitter glue. There was literally no fallout. I was really impressed because glitter usually falls everywhere on the lower lash line and I have to use a brush and dust it away when I’m done, but not when I used this. The glitter primer also made the glitter transition better into the mattes. . This NYX - Glitter Primer is only $6.50 (currently on sale for $4.55 at Ulta) for 0.33 oz. I think it’s a nice extra step to really minimize the fallout experience typical with glitter and to help make them pop. I don’t think it’s necessary, but it gives the extra little pop to make them look nice.

Holy Grail Drugstore Primer
After YEARS of hearing all of the rave reviews about the Nyx Glitter Primer, I finally bought it! If you use loose shadows or want your shimmer shades to pack a punch and stay in place this is your go to. I compared my normal primer to this primer with shimmer shades and holy sh*t it's intense on the nyx side! I will definitely repurchase and highly recommend this if you struggle with pigmentation or just want an affordable, punchy primer. You need *so* little of this per lid that it will last you a long time. It has me excited about eyeshadow again 💙NYX - Glitter Primer

Old vs New Primer: Nyx to Too Faced
Nyx is a go-too brand for many people who want to play with color at a low cost. Since 2012, I remember watching Youtubers layer the NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk as an eyeshadow primer. Since it’s white, it helps make bright colors like blues and oranges pop. But since I bought one, I ended up not liking it that much. I have very oily eyelids, and Milk started bunching up in my crease throughout the day. Even when I put eyeshadow over it, it would just bunch that eyeshadow, too. Plus, it’s a little bit too thick for a primer. Another problem: It didn’t look good with natural makeup. Which makes sense! You can use white to play with bold colors. But if your looks are mostly soft browns, it’s not gonna match. So I started a search for a better primer, and I found the best one: The Too Faced Shadow Insurance Primer. First of all, it looks like a natural skin tone. When you blend it in, it turns almost translucent, so you have a natural base to layer shadow on. Second, it feels like a light cream, not a paste. Which feels better for an area as sensitive as the eyes. Thirdly, and most importantly, it lasts! My eyelids never crease with this primer, even if I got up at 7 AM and went to bed at midnight. As you can see in the photo, my Shadow Insurance is well loved. And this is actually my third tube of it. It’s paid off to give me years of beautiful, intact eyeshadow looks. After some trial and error, I’m glad I made the switch.

A bit of make up mess today. Some products that I am currently loving. toofaced Born this way foundation and concealer. Very natural looking I just dab with a beauty blender where my face needs coverage.. tarte In Bloom Palette. This palette is so lovely and such a nice everyday natural palette. It also has more Matte options and only 3 shimmer shades.. toofaced Shadow insurance. One of my go to eye primer for years, I get oily lids and this makes my shadows stay put. Better than Sex Mascara (name still makes me cringe a little) I use the waterproof to help hold my curl. I find once the mascara drys a little it works much better. hourglass Arch Brow Volumnising Fiber Gel. Nice brow gel to fill in my hairs. anastasiabeverlyhills Dipbrow promade in medium brown. I use this to define my brows more slightly. I love this stuff and seriously it lasts for ever!

Skin To Die For Darkness-Reducing Under-Eye Treatment Primer is a new offering from peterthomasroth and as the name suggests it is a primer for TEMPORARY reducing the under eye dark shadows. . . The product is a silky, peach colored cream, that goes on smoothly and as it contains Silicones, it fills in the fine lines making the under eye area look velvety smooth. The product has a light peach tint to it, which is universal. It helps cancel the blue, thus temporary reducing the appearance of dark shadow and making the under eye area appear bright and awake. Not white! It did not sting or burn my eyes or areas around it. There was no redness and no heaviness. This thing is not greasy either. I did notice that it works better when layered over a well moisturized under eyes. I always apply a good eye cream in my morning routine and that helps keep the area hydrated and nourished. The product does not pills on layering. Concealer or correctors apply easily on top of it. . . It is a decently good product, especially for delicate under eyes with fine lines and dark shadows. It is not a cure of under eye dark circles. The arrangement is temporary. Just wanted to highlight that. Available sephora .

If you suffer from puffy, dark under-eyes like me...meet your new best friend! The Peterthomasroth Skin To Die For - Darkness Reducing Under-Eye Treatment Primer has become a game changing step for me! I use a small amount and lightly tap / gently spread it on to instantly brighten and smooth my under-eye area. It’s perfect to wear under makeup and helps prevent creasing, but I also wear it on days when I’m not wearing any makeup just to brighten and smooth. A little goes a long way so this tube will last me for a while!

Eye primer - Worth it?
Usually I use Urban Decay Primer Potion for my eyeshadow primer, but I recently ran out of it and found this sample of the ANASTASIA Beverly Hills - ANASTASIA BEVERLY HILLS Eye Primer that I got in an order. So on my left eye (top row in the picture) I used the eye primer and the bottom one was just my bare eye. I decided to see if it helped with the vibrancy of the shadow when it was first applied and also do a long wear test to see if it helped with the longevity of the eyeshadows. The eyeshadow palette I used was the Huda Beauty . About the primer: You barely need any of this product for the eye, it’s very white and spreads easily. It easily creases within a few seconds of putting it on. I put this on, then put on my foundation and came back and blended it out using my foundation brush, then went in with my eyeshadow (didn’t set the primer, just went straight into blending). . Vibrancy: Honestly, the shadow made it harder to blend because it was so tacky and my brush kept getting stuck it felt like in the primer. Even the times I’ve settled the primer, I’ve still had the same issue about my brush not gliding over my skin as well. It also made the colors apply and blend patchy since the primer kept creasing in my eye. The eye with the primer took twice as long to blend due to these difficulties. The shimmer also doesn’t look as vibrant to me. I asked my mom which eye she thought looked better (without telling her why and what I did different) and she said the eye without the primer looked better. . Longevity: The eyeshadow lasted about the same amount. Honestly, the eye primer one probably creased first because the primer kept creasing, even before I was done with my eyeshadow look. The amount of creasing is more noticeable on the bare eye when I opened it, but just looking at my face you can’t notice a difference. Unless you’re watching my eyelids while I blink and waiting to look how much it’s creased, but that would be strange lol. The end pictures are after 8 hours and they’re about the same level of creased, so I don’t think the eye primer helped at all in this category. . Overall: I would skip this eye primer because it literally worked the same as wearing nothing else. I’ve also tried using concealer as my eyeshadow primer and that worked better (but was still not good) than this. This is around the same price point as the Urban Decay Primer Potion and that actually makes in the vibrancy and longevity of your shadows. While you may not need to use it everyday since you don’t need your makeup to last that long, it’s nice for whenever you have an important day or day that’s long.

Product Letdown: ABH Eyeshadow Primer
I’ve been trying to find an eyeshadow primer to keep the product from creasing and this sample of ABH’s hasn’t been my favorite. The formula is too thick for my lids and I find that it doesn’t blend as seamlessly into the skin as promised. You have to be very careful about how much you use.ANASTASIA Beverly Hills - ANASTASIA BEVERLY HILLS Eye Primer

✨What are the claims? It is a water resistant eye primer in a light colored base that creates the perfect canvas for matte & shimmer shadows & pigments. Enhances vibrancy & reduces the appearance of lines or wrinkles. ✨Texture/Consistency? A thick cream that is very wet/concealer like in texture. It is very smooth & easily blend-able. ✨My thoughts? I recently got this in a Sephora box and I’ve been hearing many great things about it since it’s launch. I really like it so far. It defiantly covers all of my veins / discoloration on my eyelids, and Its super easy to blend. It lasts all day on my eyelids and doesn’t affect the integrity or color performance of the eyeshadows. I’ve used several different formulas and pigments with this primer and it works perfectly. I only need the smallest amount and it covers my whole lid. It doesn’t crease & my eyelids dont get oily either. I really enjoy this and want to purchase the full size as soon as I’m out of this one! I love it! It matches my skin perfectly and it isn’t too dark or too light! I am naturally a 110-120 in Fenty Foundation! This is the best eye primer I have found for my skin tone. ANASTASIA Beverly Hills - ANASTASIA BEVERLY HILLS Eye Primer ✨Price Vs Size? It is $23.00USD for 15Ml. so worth it for the price. The ONLY thing I am not sure of , is if it okay on all skin colors. I am VERY fair, so it matches perfectly to my complexion, kind of similar to a concealer. I tried to do some research on if this worked on all skin colors or not and I could figure it out! I would be kind of disappointed if it wasn’t inclusive! I figured they would have multiple shades but no they don’t! I would love to know if anyone knows the answer to if this works on darker skin?

Is eye primer really even worth it? 🤷🏻‍♀️
Is eye primer really even worth it? 🤷🏻‍♀️
I have super oily skin. I mean make up melt off my face throughout the day kind of oily. I’ve tried eye shadow primers in the past to no luck so lately I’ve just been using my foundation (which isn’t much better). During the holidays I picked up a cute Fenty Beauty set which included a mini of the FENTY BEAUTY - Pro Filt'r Amplifying Eye Primer . I hadn’t heard the best reviews but one of my favorite youtubers raves about the product so I decided to give it a try. This eye primer claims it is a clear primer that not only boosts your color but smooths the lid for better blending and a longer, crease proof wear. The full size retails for $22 (the set I bought has this mini and a mini eyeliner for $24 and is still available at the time I’m writing this). Personally, I wouldn’t get the mini (and this is my only complaint about the product). My favorite YouTuber mentioned it’s hard to get product out of the mini and I agree. You don’t get a lot of product on the applicator (it’s like a rounded doe foot) so I really had to scrape to get some off. If you want this I’d recommend getting the full size. It is colorless like it claims. It’s really weird because when you apply it to the eye you almost feel a tightening effect while it dries down. It’s not uncomfortable and by the time I start applying my eyeshadow it’s gone but you do feel this weird, dry down tightening sensation almost immediately. I really like this though because I feel like this is what helps the eyeshadow last. I have super oily eyelids and everything fades, creases, or melts right off. I’ve yet to have my make up do that with this. I put a picture in (please be kind. Quarantine has not been kind to my eyebrows. I’m waiting til I can go back to work and have my brow girl wax them) of my eyeshadow 7 1/2 hours apart which is an average shift for me at work. The eyeshadow looks exactly the same as when I put it on this morning. If you have oily skin this is going to be your best friend. There is no creasing, color fading, or melting. I have an eyeshadow palette that ALWAYS fades on me immediately after I use it and I was shocked that it didn’t do it with this primer. I would highly highly recommend this eyeshadow primer if you have trouble with oily eyelids, creasing, fading, or melting.

If you are ballin on a budget, a drugstore queen or king, then look no further than the OG brand E.l.f Cosmetics! This sheer eyelid primer was 2 dollars (may be 3 depending on where you get it) and you can get SOOOOOO much use out of it. You genuinely need such little of this product because it's a silicone base very similar to the Urban Decay primer potion. It stays very lightly tacky so the eyeshadow really sticks while making it blendable. Elf is cruelty free and I've already repurchased ✨

Beauty Superlatives - Eye Look
Beauty Superlatives - Eye Look
I present you My Eye Look Awards! These are of some of my top rated items that I love and constantly repurchase. Let’s begin with the best eyeliner tarte - Clay Pot Waterproof Liner ! This gel eyeliner is such a lovely jet black color with smooth texture! I do say that this is best for those who are comfortable applying with a brush and/or drawing their own wing. I used this years ago but at the time it was $21.00 on Tarte.com and rarely went on sale so I had to find cheaper alternatives. But more recently Tarte has been hosting sales and this liner comes down to only $10.00! It’s awesome and at that price it’s a steal. It has super longwear and once it’s on it does not budge! And because the product is in the pot, it will last you a long time since you don’t need to use that much product. Next, we have the best eye primer MAC - Pro Longwear Paint Pot Eyeshadow in shade Painterly! This is best applied with your finger and then on to the eyelid! I have oily eyelids and I feel like this baby here holds the eyeshadows in place with minimal creasing. Since I typically wear makeup for 8-9 hours a day, I need to have a hardcore primer. It retails for $22.00 but once again a little goes a long way and it will be in your collection for a good time. This Painterly pot can be used as a base, transition shade, or can be mixed with other products. There are six shades ranging from taupes or neutrals. I got mine at Ulta and used points to make the price go down. Finally, best eyeshadow duo are these MAC - MAC Matte Eyeshadow in shades Honey Lust and Expensive Pink. This my 2nd refill for HL and 3rd refill for EP. Each eyeshadow refill retails for $7.00, however MAC has many sales where you get the case for the shadows for free with the purchase of the two eyeshades. In the second picture, you’ll see the swatches and how neutral and elegant they look. I mainly wear Expensive Pink to work and Honey Lust on the weekends. Paired along with the MAC Painterly Pot and you get an amazing look! I am usually not too big on MAC but these eyeshadows and primer are 100% and I recommend you check them out!
