two empties: one hated, one beloved
Today I’ll be featuring two products from Drunk Elephant, Protini and Slaai. One of these didn’t work for me, and one did! I don’t personally like this brand, since they bully creators and customers on Instagram and refuse to take ownership that some products don’t work for everyone. But tons of people like them, so I thought I would review these two minis I used, both gifted by a friend. I have combo skin type, with acne prone, sensitive skin. I also have rosacea, so my skin is red much of the time. DRUNK ELEPHANT - Slaai Makeup-Melting Butter Cleanser Honest to god, I hated this cleanser. I used it as a first cleanse in my pm routine to remove makeup (some waterproof), and spf (water/sweat resistant). Claims: “innovative cleansing balm that melts all traces of dirt, makeup, sunscreen, and even water-resistant formulas” Key ingredients: fruit blend of blueberry, kiwi, strawberry (moisturize), “African” oil blend of Marula, baobab, kalahari (protect and nurture) Not only did this not remove all my makeup, but it stung my eyes so badly and blurred my vision. My waterproof eyeliner and mascara was streaking all down my face, and I couldn’t remove it completely with Slaai without tugging or pulling my skin, which I was not about to do. It emulsified fairly well, but failed to do its job. The butter-like consistency could only be warmed up so much in my hand, because it formed clumps and wouldn’t break apart. After cleansing, it left a gross film behind on my skin like oil, and I didn’t not like how it felt. I cannot recommend this to y’all 💀 and if I could give it 0/5 stars I totally would! $34 for something not good haha! DRUNK ELEPHANT - Protini Polypeptide Moisturizer Ahh, a wonderful moisturizer. I use this in both my AM and PM routine, but I like it most in the AM. Claims: “a protein moisturizer that combines signal peptides, growth factors, amino acids, and Pygmy water lily to improve the look of skins tone, texture, and firmness” Key Ingredients: peptide complex (binds moisture to skin, plumps, firms), pigmy water lily (antioxidants, moisturizer, soothing), soybean folic acid (helps with elasticity, good for after sun) Overall, this is one of my top moisturizers. The price is ehh ($68) and I don’t want to spend it ever, so I don’t see myself repurchasing my full size when I empty it — it’s just not worth nearly $70. The texture is so pretty, lightweight but packs a punch of hydration and moisture retention. My skin always looks great when I use this — it’s a tall drink of water for my skin for sure. It somehow plumps my skin AND helps with my loss of elasticity. Gentle on my skin, and definitely enough hydration for my combo skin type. 4/5 (-1 for price). I had no side effects using this product! #CherieCreator
Recharge, Rehydrate, And Re-Plump With Polypeptides
Ingredients: Polypeptides Product: DRUNK ELEPHANT - Protini Polypeptide Moisturizer I came across this product while browsing on a local skincare and makeup seller on Instagram. I trust the brand as Drunk Elephant has been raved by a lot of beauty and skincare influencers on social media, and I’ve watched tons of YouTube review videos saying that this brand’s skincare line has changed their skin. I’ve always wanted to have something in my routine to have peptides and EGF in them. Peptides are small molecules of proteins, and if you’re a skincare addict like me, you’d know that our skin needs protein to maintain its elasticity and firmness. Elastic skin surface means our skin will be able to maintain its youthful glow. It assists our body in producing collagen and is very useful in fighting against aging. I have a dry combination skin type that goes more on the dry side. Even if I live in a tropical environment, my skin needs proper hydration and care. Moisturizer is something I cannot not have in my routine. I’ve tried a number of variants- some worked, some didn’t. This cream, thankfully, works for my skin. It is lightweight in texture hence it’s ideal for the weather especially in summer. It’s rich in EGF (epidermal growth factor) so it really helps in regenerating new skin cells. I think that’s what is responsible for the smooth texture of my skin after using this for just a couple of times. I exfoliate chemically every day, and this helps me in keeping my skin hydrated.

Did we find a juicy dupe!?
So I found the St Ives oil free watermelon moisturizer and immediately needed to know if it was a dupe for the famous Glow Recipe pink juice moisturizer! So I’m going to do point form for the differences, let’s go: St Ives -texture is bouncy and thicker -feels sticky and thick gel on the skin -smell is artificial like candy -niacinamide, lack of hyaluronic acid -$10.00 -Drugstore availability -In a Tub -plastic packaging -less “clean” ingredients Glow Recipe -texture is light like a serum -feels light and soaks in immediately and plumps up the skin -smell is less artificial and like a jolly rancher -lots of hyaluronic acid -$50.00 -Sephora or Glow Recipe website -convenient and sanitary pump -glass packaging -more “clean” ingredients So all in all I do not think we have a dupe here. The Glow Recipe has a higher concentration of real watermelon and the St Ives is more just watermelon scented. The big difference too is that St Ives won’t hydrate the skin nearly as much as Glow Recipe. I have dry skin so I really like the Glow Recipe, plus the better more potent watermelon and ingredient deck make it a superior product. But if you’re on a budget, the St Ives isn’t a bad product. It will brighten. I have used both in the morning since I like a lighter hydration in the am and they both work really well with my makeup and fav SPF. I haven’t quite used them long enough to notice a difference, but Glow Recipe definitely plumps the skin do to the HA and sadly haven’t noticed any brightening from the niacinamide in the St Ives. Question: do you love watermelon??
GLOW RECIPE - Watermelon Pink Juice Oil-Free Moisturizer “This 100% oil free cooling gel-emulsion absorbs instantly to seal in hydration and prep skin for the day ahead. Antioxidants guard against free radicals and repair damaged cells along the way. Used morning and night, it drenches skin in luscious, long-lasting moisture.” I’ve been using this moisturizer after my curology super bottle! It’s so hydrating, especially for my oily/combo skin! It’s formulated with hyaluronic acid and is very lightweight! I’m halfway through the bottle and I got it a few weeks ago (I’ve been trying other products too though)!

Did somebody say banana 🍌
B A N A N A S O U F F L E 🍌 . MOISTURE CREAM- Review ✨ . This smells good enough to eat 🤤 However don’t! . . I literally went to Sephora for a month straight, I kid you not a month! I smelt it every time! . . Then I took the leap and grabbed it in the *my watermelon glow vanity kit! I was not disappointed! I love that it comes in a little glass jar with a little spoon. My dry skin drinks they hydration shortly after I apply it, the texture is pudding like consistency yet thin enough to absorb and dry down quickly! I have been using it during the day and it gives my skin a glowing yet not greasy look! I will say if artificial banana scents (think: marshmallow banana candies) aren’t for you- you may not enjoy the scent.Even though it smells of banana the scent disappears immediately for me, I can’t smell it once I’ve applied onto my skin. . . All in all I really enjoy using this super fun to use cream 🍌
Banana souffle cream!
GLOW RECIPE - Banana Soufflé Moisture Cream Key Ingredients: banana (restores hydration), magnesium (calms inflamed skin), turmeric and cica (heals dry and irritated skin) Pros: It is super lightweight which I like to use in the daytime because it gives my oily skin enough moisture without being heavy. It has a very pleasant banana smell which can be a con depending on your tolerance but i find that the scent goes away as soon as I apply it. It is non-greasy, fast-absorbing, and makes my skin so soft and glowy. ✨ Cons: As much as I’m obsessed with the cute glass packaging, I think it would’ve been better if it was in a pump because of its thin and runny consistency. It’s hard to scoop it out of its little hole without it dripping and it also just feels unhygienic. It also didn’t really help calm my redness :( Overall, it’s a decent moisturizer but I personally liked their Watermelon Pink Juice better! I still enjoy using this product and I’m thankful that I got it as a present, but this is not something I would repurchase. I’m still a big @glowrecipe fan 💛

✨ Treat Yourself At Home - At Home Facial ✨
Once or twice a week I like to exfoliate my skin to help boost the glow, help with breakouts, and all the benefits that come with exfoliating. The exfoliator I’ve been using is the FREEMAN - Freeman Hemp Milk Peel which is formulated for oily to combo skin. I’ve also been outside walking more, so decided to throw in a little extra hydration set that I picked up from Ulta to make it a more spa-like experience. The products I used are the 3 piece hydration set from CosRX (includes the cleanser, moisture pad, and sheet mask; makes it really convenient!), exfoliator, and an eye cream and face moisturizer. I included the information on the back of the CosRX set so you could see the benefits listed for each step. I only included the top part of the set with the benefits because the bottom part listed the ingredients and other info. . Products [Step #]: 3 Step Kit - COSRX - One Step Moisture Up Kit [Steps 1, 3, and 4] Exfoliator- FREEMAN - Freeman Hemp Milk Peel [Step 2] Eye cream - SATURDAY SKIN - Wide Awake Brightening Eye Cream [Step 5] Face moisturizer - belif - Aqua bomb [Step 6] . First I used the cleanser in the CosRX kit. It is a gel consistency and foamed nicely, but wasn’t drying. Then I used let the exfoliator sit on my face for 15 seconds, then rubbed it in for 30 seconds and rinsed it off. It’s more gentle than I was expecting and haven’t noticed much results in the few times I’ve used it. I don’t like that it’s on your face for such a small amount of time, doesn’t feel like it has much time to help with anything. Next, I used the moisture up pad. The instructions said to use the rougher side first and then use the softer side “to pick up the remaining debris.” I didn’t notice anything special after using this step either. I went in with the sheet mask next and left it on for 20 minutes. The fit was nice and was nicely soaked with essence, but not any leftover in the package. This left my face feeling hydrated and soft. I patted the remaining essence in and waited a couple minutes and put on my eye cream and face moisturizer. . Before/After: As I mentioned, I enjoyed exfoliating one or two times a week, but I don’t often go this full out (with the extra steps for hydration boosting)! This was such a fun pamper session with the CosRX Kit, which is reasonably price (I think like $6 or $8) and it’s a fun spa-like experience that you can have at home. Since I’ve been outside more, my skin has been breaking out and drier. The kit definitely helped hydrate and make my skin feel better. I also had to wash my hair since I took a really long walk today, so that’s why my hair’s down and looks wet in the after pic.
Belief Aqua bomb 💦💣
belif - Aqua bomb love this as a daytime moisturizer, a true gel cream it leaves my face hydrated without feeling tacky or oily . belif - Aqua Bomb Jelly Cleanser only giving the cleanser 4 stars because I wish it did a little more for me but it definitely makes my face feel clean without feeling stripped or leaving me oily . It does a fine job of cleansing the oils/products I’ve had on from the day/night . I’m don’t wear face makeup often so I’m not sure how well it would cleanse that but it definitely feels better than the neutrogena hydroboost cleansing gel I was previously using . So I will definitely be purchasing the full sizes of these #hydratedskin

Tatcha Water Cream❣️
FOUR STARS ONLY because of the price. I have a few things to say about this. “Water Cream” is the perfect name for it. I love that it does not leave my skin feeling like I’ve loaded a bunch of product on my face while leaving my skin very moisturized. OH AND THE SPATULA- I love that this comes with a tool to use so you don’t have to stick your fingers into the cream each time you use it! Ahh sanitary! However, I noticed something very strange when I got close to running out. The remaining product in the bottom of the jar had a little bit of a shimmer to it which leads me to believe that it had a hint of shimmer all along, and perhaps it settled at the bottom— I pay VERY close attention to what I am putting on my face, and I never noticed any hint of shimmer in it until I was running extremely low. If you are looking for a cheaper alternative (NOT a dupe) the Hello F.A.B. Coconut Water Cream feels very similar in the sense that it feels like you have nothing on your skin but still provides moisture. Will I repurchase this product? Probably NOT, because of the price point😅
Tatcha Water Cream
I received this mini sized product as a gift at Sephora last month. First of all, I have seen the hype over this product but i was NEVER going to buy it due to its outrageous price ($68 for 1.7oz). I thought that it was just a normal product that people hyped up for absolutely no reason. Then, I tried it out...and WOW! This is the first product that I fell in love with! It’s lightweight, it made my makeup application BOMB ASF, it evened out my skin tone, and it overall just felt incredible on my skin! Again, just like my last product I reviewed, I do not agree with the fragrance component. Now, this water cream has a very very very small amount but it’s still there and it doesn’t have to be. Overall, I’m in love with this product and I definitely recommend buying it, it’s so worth it, trust me:)TATCHA - The Water Cream

My Youth to the People Collection
•Adaptogen soothe + hydrate activated mist: a very fine hydrating mist. I use this as a toner and love how it makes my skin look! •Kale + green tea spinach vitamins superfood cleanser: this is my new favorite cleanser! It cleanses my skin without drying it out! •Kombucha + 11% AHA exfoliating power toner: I use this toner every other night and I wake up with such nice bright skin! One of the few toners I feel actually does something. It does apply slightly sticky but when I put all my other products on it goes away. •Adaptogen deep moisture cream: I’ve only tried this out a few time so I don’t have a full opinion yet but it definitely felt lightweight and sunk into my skin nicely. •Superberry hydrate + glow dream mask: this is by far my favorite night mask. It makes my skin so hydrated and glowy. These are all super star products and essentials in my skincare routine! I recommend these products 100%!
Do’s & Don’t’s of A Sensitive Skin Routine
In my opinion, all skin is sensitive- but people with particularly reactive skin have to take extra caution, especially when you have a condition like eczema (hey fam!) and rosacea. Personally, I have combination sensitive skin and eczema, but nowadays my skin is pretty normal. Here’s some tips to follow when building your basic skincare routine... • Don’t: Jump into a ten-step routine. Overwhelming skin with so many products can easily aggravate sensitive skin, while also making it harder to figure out what one is irritating your skin. Take your time. • Do: Iron out the basics! Before introducing serums, make sure to find a cleanser, moisturizer, and sunscreen combination that gently nourishes skin. Avoid exfoliants in these so that they’re a safe fall-back if your skin starts flaring up. My favourite sensitive skin cleansers are HOLI FROG - Tashmoo Water Lily Nourishing Milky Wash and PAULA'S CHOICE - RESIST Perfectly Balanced Foaming Cleanser , as they cleanse without stripping skin of protective oils. My go-to sensitive skin (and all skin) sunscreens are PAULA'S CHOICE - Essential Glow Moisturizer SPF 30 (mineral) and PAULA'S CHOICE - YOUTH-EXTENDING DAILY HYDRATING FLUID SPF 50 (chemical). • Don’t: Use products with fragrance, alcohol, or essential oils. Alcohol is drying and can weaken the skin barrier, your skin’s defense against environmental damage. Fragrance and essential oils not only have a high chance of irritating skin, but also oxidize upon contact with the air, releasing free radicals that break down collagen. Avoid these. • Do: Incorporate antioxidants. Antioxidants battle environmental aggressors, neutralize free radicals, soothe skin, and calm redness. These and a good sunscreen are going to be your best combination for calm, youthful skin! I utilize a couple drops of The Ordinary - Resveratrol 3% + Ferulic Acid 3% on mornings I forgo vitamin c, but I also enjoy the silky texture of PAULA'S CHOICE - Retinol Super Antioxidant Serum for a gentle, moisturizing retinol that is also loaded with antioxidants. • Don’t: Try to smother skin into submission. Piling on layers of the heaviest cream may provide temporary relief, but it can lead to congestion and acne, which will only inflame skin more in the long-term. • Do: Combine fatty acids, ceramides, peptides, and/or hyaluronic acid treatments to repair the skin barrier, promoting moisture retainment in multiple levels. Layering different types of hydration/moisture from thinnest to thickest is better for your skin and will promote healing the root cause versus treating the symptoms. I love combining PAULA'S CHOICE - Resist Anti-Ageing Omega+ Complex Serum and NIOD - Multi-Molecular Hyaluronic Complex underneath my moisturizer to hydrate + nourish my skin and reduce frequency of my eczema flare-ups.

“Simplicity is key” is not a cliche
I am a junior formulaic chemist in the skincare industry. My work is what I love. I get to make stuff I’m addicted to using! But what I love more is helping people around me understand what the hell is going on with their skin. More often than not, the issue is... we be doin too much. I don’t have problematic skin per say but she is sensitive, picky, and temperamental. For a while I fell down the 10 step skin care routine rabbit hole. I put a toner on my face, a serum, another serum, aloe Vera gel, and two heavy moisturizers. I thought that would make me glowy. Wrong. Instead what happened was my skin started growing bacteria. Fungal acne, my new worst enemy. There was too much going on. I had little spots on my forehead I couldn’t get rid of. So like any other skin care junkie I decided to combat it with even MORE products. When that didn’t work, I thought about how my skin was in high school. A single pimple during my time of the month and that was it. Why wasn’t my skin fussy back then? It’s cuz I didn’t do much back then. I scaled back. I used simple skin care with simple ingredients. I used skin care from the same brand to see if the way they work together benefitted me. Low and behold, my fungal acne was defeated. But then came eczema. As I’ve gotten older, my seasonal allergies have taken over my life. Not only do I have to go out of my way to keep itchy eyes and sneezes at bay, but eczema so graciously decides to find a home under my eyes. Insert eye creams. Insert... two eye creams. Truly a dynamic duo. All the products tagged here are my holy grail items. I’m loyal to them and will die for them. They continually fix my skin when she’s acting up and give her a pat on the back when she’s behaving. I’m back on my cycle of getting one blemish per month and I keep that at bay with DifferinGel & acne patches. Sometimes when we cut back, our skin will thank you. Tips: Don’t wet your face before putting this cleanser on. Weird. I know. But don’t. Let your dry skin drink this in first. Then add water to foam it up after it’s completely rubbed in. Your skin will feel 10 times more moisturized after cleansing this way. Don’t towel dry your face. Let it air dry. Pat the water in. Use a hand fan. A sopping wet face? Yeah. That’s what we want. Letting your face air dry allows your face to drink that water! The Hyaluronic acid serum retains water from the air and the water already on your skin. Youre giving your serum a boost if you let your face air dry. That’s where the moisture will be retained from.
A healthy skin barrier can solve your problems🌱
A healthy skin barrier can solve your skin problems! 🌱 𝗪𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐚 𝐬𝐤𝐢𝐧 𝐛𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐫? It is the outermost layer of the epidermis - stratum corneum - which functions as both a chemical and physical shield against pollutants, bacteria, irritants, etc.. A healthy skin barrier can slow down aging and even help acne heal quicker while lessening its severity. When the barrier is intact, your skin appears plump, and smooth, but when it’s compromised, skin becomes dehydrated, dull, and more prone to sun damage and irritation. Sensitivity to products, tendency to break out, acne and chronic dry skin are all signs of a weakened skin barrier. Your barrier’s health has a direct impact on how your skin looks, feels, and how it ages! 𝐇𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐟𝐞𝐰 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐡𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐭𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐩 𝐝𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐠: 1. Over-cleansing 2. Over-exfoliating 3. Washing your face using hot water 4. Using alcohol-based toner and fragrance-containing products 5. Unprotected exposure to sun’s UV rays 𝐀𝐧𝐝 𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞’𝐬 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐝𝐨: ~ Hydrate continuously! A damaged epidermis requires moisture, so keeping your face and body well hydrated is critical in the fight to restore your barrier. Moisture-binding humectants such as glycerin, sorbitol, and hyaluronic acid are my favorites. ~ 𝐔𝐬𝐞 𝐨𝐜𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐬! An occlusive ingredient provides a protective seal over the surface of the skin and is critical to prevent loss of hydration. When choosing a face moisturizer, I always look for Dimethicone. If you have dry skin, choose a moisturizer with shea butter. For extra dry skin in the body, petrolatum will be your best friend. If you want something lighter than petrolatum, go for silicone based lotions. 𝐌𝐲 𝐟𝐚𝐯𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐛𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐫 𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐢𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬: dimethicone, glycerin, ceramides, niacinamide, hyaluronic acid, panthenol, oat and aloe extract. 𝐍𝐞𝐮𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐚 𝐇𝐲𝐝𝐫𝐨𝐛𝐨𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐆𝐞𝐥 𝐂𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐦 - dimethicone based. Basic, lightweight, but does a great job. 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐚𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐠𝐞𝐥 - my top recommendation for oily and sensitive skin. Wonderful for people with rosacea. Calms, hydrates, and protects skin with dimethicone, aloe extract and licorice root. 𝐃𝐫𝐲 𝐒𝐤𝐢𝐧: 𝐄𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞 𝐇𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐒𝐨𝐨𝐧 𝐉𝐮𝐧𝐠 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐦 - has panthenol and shea butter. Pretty no-nonsense. Although it has shea butter, I find this actually lightweight enough for oily skin. 𝐋𝐚 𝐑𝐨𝐜𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐨𝐬𝐚𝐲 𝐂𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐁𝐚𝐮𝐦𝐞 - multi-purpose soothing balm for dry skin irritations. Has glycerin, shea butter, panthenol. 𝐃𝐫𝐮𝐧𝐤 𝐄𝐥𝐞𝐩𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐢 - Glycerin based and combines signal peptides and amino acids. Has a long ingredients list, but overall still worked well with me. 𝐂𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐝𝐞𝐱 𝐔𝐥𝐭𝐫𝐚 𝐌𝐨𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐳𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐦 - contains Riceramide®-3 blend of plant-based ceramides, natural essential fatty acids and cholesterol, combined with soothing emollients and hyaluronic acid to help relieve chronically dry skin. ❣️𝐏𝐲𝐮𝐧𝐠𝐤𝐚𝐧𝐠 𝐘𝐮𝐥 is a fragrance-free brand and uses a variety of root extracts and gentle ingredients to promote barrier restoration. I highly recommend the brand too! Ingredient Breakdown: Ceramides
Ceramides are a lipid that already exist in the strateum corneum, the outermost layer of skin. In fact, your skin is made up of around 50% ceramides! Ceramides hold together skin cells, preventing moisture loss and retaining firmness. UV damage and pollution destroy the number and quality of the ceramides in your skin, leading to loss of the supple feeling of skin, decreased visible smoothness, as well as increasing the likelihood of sensitivity and irritation. I love using ceramides to address both my sensitivity issues (hey eczema fam!) and for youth-promotion. For sensitivity, it shouldn’t take long to feel and see results like reduced redness and increased smoothness, but aging skin should expect a wait time of months for fine line and firmness improvement. I have combination skin, so I love these three products for adding ceramides to my routine without being too heavy for my oily forehead and nose, but offering the hydration my dry cheeks and eye areas need! DRUNK ELEPHANT - Lala Retro Whipped Moisturizer with Ceramides has been my favourite moisturizer throughout my super oily pre-niacinamide days and my super dry eczema flare-ups. It is fluffy and easily absorbed, but layers easily with extra hydrating and moisturizing serums. PAULA'S CHOICE - Omega + Complex Serum should be in every sensitive, aging, or dry skin routine. It is light but packs a serious moisturizing and soothing punch. I also recommend it to oily/combination folks when using exfoliants or retinol, to help reduce the likelihood of irritation! PAULA'S CHOICE - Hyaluronic Acid Booster is amazing. Everyone should try this, legitimately. Actual hyaluronic acid plus popular sodium hyaluronate offer light, soothing hydration while cholesterol and ceramide help to retain that hydration without oiliness. It’s perfect for treating skin issues like sensitivity, dehydration, and a damaged skin barrier from overexfoliation or retinol.
My Favourite Hydration/Moisture Products
Hydration and moisture are so, so important! I had the most oily skin for years and it never occurred to me to use a cream- so when I found my oil production subsiding a bit after introducing a hydration serum and moisturizer, I was amazed. Excess oil production can be the skin trying to moisturize itself via sebum. Here are my rec’s: PAULA'S CHOICE - 10% Niacinamide Booster contains such a variety of humectants that I consider it a hydrating serum. Hydrating while also balancing oil production, this is amazing for every skin type. stratia - Liquid Gold is packed with emollients and some humectants, making it a good serum for dry skin and the perfect moisturizer for oily skin. DRUNK ELEPHANT - B-Hydra Intensive Hydration Serum helps to reduce oil production but primarily gives skin the hydration it craves. This is a good serum for all skin types but lacks the emollients to be a moisturizer. DRUNK ELEPHANT - F-Balm Electrolyte Waterfacial Mask is the perfect cream to use after an acid if your skin is sensitive. It’d be a great moisturizer (thanks to squalane) for oily skin and is a nice add-on for dry skin. DRUNK ELEPHANT - Lala Retro Whipped Moisturizer with Ceramides worked for my skin when I was an oil slick and it saves my flaky face when my eczema goes Sahara desert. This fluffy moisturizer is perfect for all skin types, though dry skin in the winter may need to add an oil. The Ordinary - Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 is a hydrating serum that is just what dehydrated and/or oily skin needs- however I’d caution users that hyaluronic acid can be drying if you live in an arid environment. It also doesn’t have the most elegant texture, so give it an extra minute to soak in! PAULA'S CHOICE - Probiotic Nutrient Moisturizer moisturizes without shine, managing to be rich yet soaking in very quickly. It may be a bit too light for dry skin in the PM but oily/combo skin will love it. PAULA'S CHOICE - Omega + Complex Serum If you have sensitive, combination, and/or dry skin, buy this. It contains emollients, humectants, and is perfect for soothing skin. Oily skin will also likely enjoy this serum for its surprising lightness, but in my experience it is too light to be used as a moisturizer.

Does Lamer worth it? Is FAB repair cream a dupe for Lamer Moisture Cream?
I am sensitive, dry skin. When the season changes, my skin is prone to acne or peeling. Today I will share with you two repair creams and discuss whether FAB can be used as Lamer's Dupe. LA MER - Moisturizing CreamAU$242/40ml We all know, Lamer has their miracle broth, which, and their miracle broth consists of fermented sea kelp vitamins and minerals, helps your skin retain the water in it and keep it plumps and moisturize throughout the day or overnight whenever you're using it. I prefer to use this cream in wintertime or when I am traveling because the air is dehydrated. It is just a heavy dose of moisture when I am using this one, and I know that it's going to do the job and get my skin hydrated. I have been using this cream for at least two years now, and I love it. When you do use this product, you should remember to take a little bit on your finger when take that teeny tiny bit again rub it between your fingers and until to no longer see any white. It should look like a balm at this point. When it does look translucent, that's when you need to press it into your skin. This cream not only helps your skin to retain moisture but also helps calm your skin. FIRST AID BEAUTY - Ultra Repair Cream AU$ 44/30ml I bought this cream at Sephora. Its texture and method of use are very similar to Lamer. You need to rub it by your fingers and then press it into your face before using it. Its repairing ability and moisturizing ability are a little weaker than Lamer, but the effect is also excellent. After I use it for a week, my skin has calmed down. Technically it's not a dupe, as Lamer process more ingredients than FAB. But If you look at the ingredients list through when it comes to the actual moisturizers in these two products, the base ingredients are almost identical. There are mineral oil, petrolatum, glycerin, microcrystalline, and so on. And They almost smell similar. The Lamer I could touch more of a costly scent to it, but they're very when you feel them in the actual jars, they smell almost identical. The texture of the Lamer is thick. You have to warm it up. The texture of the FAB is similar to the Lamer, and I can't see much of a difference. I would never tell somebody with really oily skin to use these two products because the texture of these two creams is too thick.
First post!! Current Skin Care Products :)
One great thing to come out of this crazy time is my rejuvenated commitment to a solid skincare routine! This is a mix of products that are both old and new to me, but I’m loving them all! In the morning, I only use Mamonde - Rose Water Gel Cream , Kiehl's - Creamy Eye Treatment With Avocado , and it Cosmetics - Confidence In A Neck Cream Moisturizer , and lastly elta md SKINCARE - UV Clear Broad Spectrum SPF 46 if I am heading outside :) At night I use everything else except sunscreen, and change out the gel moisturizer for FIRST AID BEAUTY - Ultra Repair Cream (NOT PICTURED) I just recently introduced Retinol into my routine, but I only use it once a week and make sure not to use any acne medication when I use it (also not pictured because it’s prescribed by my dermatologist). So far I am liking RoC - Retinol Correxion, Deep Wrinkle Night Cream but it’s too early to tell if it is having a significant impact. I use a Sulfur face wash prescribed by my dermatologist which is also not pictured! I am waiting on a new toner to come in, thinking about introducing a chemical exfoliant once a week, and also micellar water. If you have any feedback or suggestions I am super open!

Plump & Hydrated Skin
😩This moisturized from fresh is soo nice. The smell of it is very floral and if you are someone who doesn’t tolerate fragrance in your skincare, then this is not for you! I am someone who doesn’t like fragrance in my products because I have super sensitive skin that breaks out into hives easily and that too having eczema just makes it that much harder finding products that suit my skin & type. 😩 The texture of this product is a creamy gel, it looks like a cream but feels like a gel on the skin. I just love the texture of this product and the way it made my skin feel after applying it. 😅So do I recommend? No, I don’t think you need to spend this much money on a moisturizer because I love the first aid beauty Ultra Repair Cream so much! Literally a life savior for my super-sensitive skin as well and you get so much more for that price tag. I do think this is pricey for an okay product!
Your skin will thank you
Skincare has become an integral part of my daily routine, thought it wasn’t always. I suffered from acne and acne scars every since puberty was reached and it was sometimes painful stepping outside with all these bumps on my face. Later I realized that I was missing a skincare routine. Three years later, my skin is thriving. From time to time, I experience dry patches and I almost forgot how amazing this Fresh Lotus Youth Preserve was! I love how it restored the dry spots instantly. Also it’s really gentle to the skin. I felt a cool sensation. Note to self, never forget about Lotus youth preserve night cream again!
My thoughts on Murad Retinol Youth Renewal
This is a best-seller this year but I've never used it before so I just bought a set (serum+cream+eye cream) and gave it a go. I've been using it for about a week as of now and here is my review. I have combination-oily skin. Murad - Retinol Youth Renewal Serum It looks thick, but it actually absorbs very easily after application and doesn't feel greasy at all. It feels very moisturizing instead and smells nice. I've also been using retinol for a year already so I didn't find it irritating at all! I couldn't see any immediate anti-aging effect, but I could feel my face revitalized. The only downside is its bulky packaging which means it doesn't come cheap! 🙃 Murad - Retinol Youth Renewal Night Cream The texture of this one feels a bit granular, so it's not very delicate and is relatively oily but it's still quite easy to apply. It feels a little oily on my face but not so much that my face shimmers. But I really dislike its smell. 😰 Murad - Retinol Youth Renewal Eye Serum This has a very thin texture and absorbs quickly. As an eye product with Retinol, I think it is worth a try. It does take a bit of time to see the effect of retinol on our skin, to me, the most important thing is to find the right product then use it consistently. 💪🏻💪🏻

I find these products to be the best moisturizers for the AM because of their light weight feel. I'll use these after applying Niacinamide and before sunscreen and makeup 🧡 CLINIQUE - Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion+ paired with CLINIQUE - iD Active Cartridge Concentrate is my absolute fav moisturizer so far, before getting into the rest of my routine, because the lotion's consistency is lightweight and yet still feels moisturizing to the skin. The ID active cartridge concentrate I like is the orange one which has Taurine which is known as a powerful form of anti-fatigue that will re-energize the skin. On my skin, it just looks beautiful and glowy (I even get compliments from my boyfriend and brothers). I love it 🧡 What I love most about it is that it will also shine through my makeup, whilst giving me a healthy and radiant glow. I find my makeup to go on smoothly after this product on casual days when I don't apply primer. Kiehl's - Ultra Facial Cream This one has got to be my second fav for an AM moisturizer. Comes in second because it is slightly thicker than the Clinique lotion (mentioned above) and it can look too glowy on the skin by peaking out behind makeup and emphasizing my pores. Overall, it feels much more hydrating than Clinique's lotion and gives the face a nice glow when worn without makeup.

Kat Burki Bio-Correcting Face Cream
I just started using this product along with the Vitamin C Cream, extremely happy so far with both however this is only a few weeks. So far my skin gets a touch of glowy tint and my overall complexion just looks healthier. This product is expensive, but worth it！It is formulated with precious marine ingredients, especially Astaxanthin, the king of antioxidants, can deeply repairs your skin. After you slather it on your face, this caramel cream would melt into a white paste, then oily fluid. Along with the gentle massage, it would be absorbed in 2-3 mins without any greasy feeling. PSA, instead of causing break outs as I worried, it unexpectedly helps me eliminate my micro-comedones! Even so, because of its heavy texture, you still have to keep an eye on the usage. I don't think it has other shortcomings except its strange smell, and I strongly recommend this to any one who are seeking for a camera-ready face with smaller pores and delicate skin texture.
My Face Cream Awards
Although I don't have extremely dry skin, I cannot live without face cream in my daily skin care routine. My skin is sensitive, but thank God my skin is not that sensitive. My overall requirement for face cream is soothing the skin, moisturizing and repairing my skin barrier. I've tried many different face cream products. But there are only three products I really like to use. Thanks for their excellent performance and today I want to have an award ceremony for these three products. 🏆Best Skin Relief Award🏆: My skin may have redness due to changes of the weather, and sometimes a little itchy rash may appears . Whenever I encounter these minor problems, I will use this LA MER - Crème de Moisturizer cream. Rub it in the palm of my hand for a while, apply on my face, a little can go a long way! Use it before sleep, and my skin looks better after waking up the next day. 🏆Best Moisturizing Award🏆: This Kiehl's - Ultra Facial Cream from Kielh’s really does the best job on hydrating my skin! I apply it in the morning and my face will not feel dry or dehydrated all day long. Squalin and ceramide ingredients are really good for dry skin problems! 🏆Best Price Award🏆: This $28 Curél - Intensive Moisture Facial Cream is just so cost-effective! Curel is a brand from Japan, and most products owned by this brand are in very good prices. I want to say that J beauty is not lost to the popular K beauty now! If you are interested in brands from other countries, try it out!

My thoughts on Biossance
I recently bought Biossance at Sephora. Here are my thoughts towards this brand: As the background, I have dry sensitive skin. Biossance's squalane cleansing oilBIOSSANCE - Squalane + Antioxidant Cleansing Oil is amazing. It removes makeup very well. With just two pumps and a slight massage, my makeup is removed completely, even that on my eyes and lips. The essence is very thin, spreads easily, emulsifies with water easily, and can be washed off easily, leaving my skin squeaky clean. My face feels super soft and super moisturized after washing it off! The big bottle is also really worth it! I highly recommend it and I'll definitely repurchase it! Star rating🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Since I develop a winter rash easily, I added the Vitamin C Rose OilBIOSSANCE - Squalane + Vitamin C Rose Oil, which has a light fragrance, to my routine. Generally, I would apply three to four drops on my face and wait until it absorbed. It's not especially mind-blowing, but it's rather gentle and moisturizing. It is 72 USD before tax, which is quite steep, so the effect is just average if you consider the price. You have to use it long-term to see improvements. Those with oily skin may consider other products instead. Star rating🌟🌟🌟 Biossance Lip Balm BIOSSANCE - Squalane+ Rose Vegan Lip Balm The texture is similar to the Laneige lip masks, but a little more hydrating. Vaseline works better. Star rating🌟🌟 Biossance Squalane Repair Cream BIOSSANCE - Squalane + Omega Repair Cream This was a sample from Biossance. I only had a little to use so the effect is not obvious. The texture is like a thin lotion which absorbs easily. It's quite hydrating but it needs to be used longer for any effect. Star rating🌟🌟🌟
