Cherie profiles: @ChardeneyAt Cherie, we believe that beauty should be defined by you. In our Cherie Profiles series, we will spotlight a different Cherie user and share their beauty story.Tell us about your skin journey "For me, I've had cystic acne since the 5th grade. For the longest time, it was something that affected my self-esteem. Friends and family would ask me what was going on with my skin, what I was using on my it, or what was going on in my life, and it was a sensitive topic for me to navigate through. I'd shy away from the topic of my skin and act like nothing was happening, but over the years I had to build thick skin and step in front of my fear. I had to learn to share my skin journey and my fears; and the more I talked about my skin journey the more confident I got. I felt more in control. More people were even sharing their tips and advice. My cousin even recommended me her dermatologist, which I would've never found out about without sharing my story. So, sharing my journey helped me on my journey."What things helped you gain your skin confidence?"Community. There's a community for everything, but you have to look for it. I used to go on YouTube and see if other people were sharing stories similar to mine. Listening to their stories and experiences helped me find the right suggestions I needed to help my own skin. This last year, I wanted to start documenting my journey too, and so I hopped on YouTube and discovered cherie to do so. The more I started talking and sharing, the more fun I started having and I realized that my skin isn't something I should be afraid of. Finding a community I could relate to was really what did it."What were some high points in your skin journey? Low points?"One low point was when my cystic acne was so bad that it hurt to smile. It interfered with my social life, both IRL and online. I shyed away from photos and hanging out because of my skin. It was anxiety inducing. A high point, though, was when I found a dermatologist that I could connect with and help me understand my skin. Having that dermatologist helped me figure out the things that work for me like the right regimen, eating habits, and even sleep habits."How did you find the right dermatologist for you?"When I chose a dermatologist, I knew I wanted someone who would help me build my skin confidence. Someone who could give me the tools and products to treat my skin the next time breakouts ever happened.I found my derm from a combination of word of mouth, reviews, and trusting my gut. I've had cystic acne since the 5th grade and some derms I've seen, I could tell their intention was to push a product or skincare line versus really treating what's going on with me. The derm that I found was through my cousin, and when I went to visit for the first time, I really checked in with myself and observed whether or not I felt like my derm was really considering my needs and skin. I didn't feel like she just gave me a blanket regimen to try for 30 days, but instead she was someone who was truly interested in my well being."Best advice for those just starting their skin journey?"The biggest thing I want to share is that for anyone who is experieincing skincare issues is to know that it's a journey and that it's not something that you will overcome overnight. For anyone that is encountering it, the best way to navigate the journey to the destiniation of having skin you feel comfortable in is to be consistent. Don't shy away, step up and take control of it."What does beauty mean to you?"Just being confident and showing up in whatever way you choose to show upl whether that's bare skin or a beat face, beauty is just showing up as authentically as you choose to show up."What does being a creator on cherie mean to you?"Being a creator on cherie to me feels like I found my tribe. I feel like I get to show up as my true self on cherie, just sharing my experience. It's created a space for us to authentically show up for each other. It just feels like you have a community."

Wednesday Wellness 🙏🏾
This past week has been rather hard and long for me. I ultimately decided to get back on track with my wellness plan. My main wellness goal for 2021, is to indulge in myself more. I definitely am a firm believe in “as within, so without”. I started my day with: #Four Sigmatic - Mushroom Elixir Mix with Chaga[products]#[FiveStars] I have been getting back into adaptogen and herbal medicine. What we put into our bodies is just as important as what goes on the outside. Adaptogens are apart of ancient medicinal traditions traced all over the world. I also drink Tulsi “Holy Basil” Tea. If you need a pick me up or emotional boost I highly recommend! SUNDAY RILEY - U.F.O. Ultra-Clarifying Face Oil is my treatment of choice I used during the day. Do not be afraid to use salicylic acid during the day. I applied plenty of sunscreen afterwards as well! This is a GODSEND for clearing up acne and acne scarring. It’s by far the best acne treatment I’ve tried and its mostly due to the immediate results I get. This is a dry oil, so it should be used before a heavy moisturizer or sunscreen. THE BODY SHOP - Spa of the World Thai Makrut Lime Firming Oil is a staple in my night time routine. When I want to relax and really unwind I use a body roller with this oil. It smells like a fresh key lime pie and it’s so hydrating. This is great for firming, especially when paired with a body tool. What do you do for wellness?

Double Your Lash Length With Sky High Mascara!
Double Your Lash Length With Sky High Mascara!
I bought this mascara after seeing a post about it on Facebook. I love trying out new mascaras but rarely do I find one that I will use regularly like my beloved tarte - Maneater Mascara However this stuff is good. MAYBELLINE - Lash Sensational Sky High Waterproof Mascara It gave my lashes so much volume & length they literally doubled in size! My lashes are already pretty long to begin with but this made them look amazing. The photo is after applying only one coat so I can only imagine how good they will look after two or three coats! It also didn’t clump up my lashes at all. I applied it really quickly & lazily too because I was in a rush to get ready & I was still amazed! I honestly think this is going to be my new daily mascara. It is waterproof but not the annoying kind that leaves your eyes completely black when you go to take it off. It came off really easily with my POND'S - Facial Moisturizers Dry Skin Cream which is what I’ve always used to remove my eye makeup, since I was a kid! @cherie@Cheriebeauty@CheriePick

Thank you @cheriefor this amazing gift 🤩 “buh-koo-chee-all” HERBIVORE - Bakuchiol Anti-Aging Serum I’ve already become a diehard Herbivore lover. So to receive this beauty was super exciting. When I started my acne journey on Cherie I was (and still am) a Differin Acne Gel stan. This was my choice of retinol and I wanted it strong to treat acne and boost my cellular turnover. Now that my acne is currently under control and it’s getting hot again, I definitely want something smooth and gentle. Bakuchiol is a gentler alternative to the very popular ingredient retinol. So essentially you’ll get overall youthful results for your skin. I haven’t tested this on my acne theory yet, but overall my face has been smooth and irritation free. This serum does not have a smell which I love for products of this caliber. I also love that it’s light and not drying at all. I use this at night and since i have a tolerance to retinol I use it every night. I haven’t been using it long enough to see results (about 12 weeks) but I definitely can’t wait to finish this. Have you tried Bakuchiol?

Thank you @cheriefor this amazing gift 🤩🤩 Something thing I am very particular about is my moisturizer. My skin barrier tends need the extra TLC and the best thing to give it is moisture. So when I look for a moisturizer I need something that gives me instant hydration and doesn’t clog my pores. So when I received the : BASE BUTTER - Radiate Face Jelly Aloe Vera Gel Face Moisturizer I was so excited! The Brand : ✨Black Owned ✨Women Owned ✨Cruelty Free ✨Non-Comedogenic ✨Vegan ✨Paraben Free 🔑 Ingredients : ✨Aloe Vera Juice ✨Shea Butter ✨Evening Primrose Oil Okay, as you can see your girl woke up DULL! The only thing I did for this video was wash my face and use this to show y’all the transformation! I was using this EVERY night but last night I used my acne treatment routine and your girl FELT THAT (salicylic acid can be so drying to my combo skin). What’s my favorite part? This baby doesn’t have a smell or heavy greasy feel, so it perfect year round! At $21 this is a DEAL ! (The line I used on my cheek covered the entire bottom portion of my face!) Have you tried this brand?
