Finally, it’s a new year! Long awaited, and much deserved. Ringing in the new year means many things for everyone. A chance to renew, create new relationships, work on goals; really just more time to keep on doing YOU! With the changing of the years, I try and set intentions good for my well being without putting too much stress on the matter. Something like going to yoga more often or writing down intentions everytime I light a new candle. For the beauty obsessed side of me, the new year brings a chance to see what’s to come. New launches, new products to fawn over, and spiffed up shelfies. The newness of the beauty industry always impresses me. Innovation is constantly in the works in the name of beauty and beauty loving consumers can’t wait to try it all. To celebrate a new year of beauty, I’ve rounded up my favorite new beauty brands that i’ve been keeping a close eye on, many that haven’t even launched yet! Which one will you try this year? Or maybe, you’ll try a few! Vesca BeautyQuickly gaining popularity, Vesca Beauty is showing up with their chic colors cosmetics. Vesca Beauty’s cream-colored and navy blue packaging houses what they call “summer romance, any time of year”. If you buy one thing from them, let it be the Soft Sun Radiant Skin Primer & Luminizer. Besides launching creamy and beautiful formulas, the brand launched the “Reset Beauty Fund” to foster permanent change in the beauty community to elevate and support BIPOC content creators and models. KiramoonKiramoon’s branding has completely stolen my heart. The crazy curated red, pink, and white Instagram has captivated many as the brand prepares for their skincare launch on January 15th. Kiramoon has been gaining popularity with their holographic makeup pouch, called “The Magic Pouch” and their pink heart shaped mirror. Both incredibly shelfie worthy, and adds some Kiramoon spunk to your beauty routines. “Good Skin, Better Mood” is the brand’s cheeky tagline.Lisa Nail LacquerLisa White says when she landed her first job as a beauty editor, it was truly a dream come true. With all the products she tested on a daily basis, nail polishes were her absolute favorite. Something that’s few and far between? Damn good “clean” nail polishes. Most are filled with a crazy amount of chemicals. To fill the white space and jump into something she was passionate about, Lisa launched her nail polish brand which is 100% vegan and non-toxic. Besides having amazing formulas, the names are the best. “millionaire mindset” and “per my last email” are my top picks.EveristLooking to bring another approach to sustainable hair care, Everist will be launching 100% plant-based shampoos and conditioners that are activated by the water while using in your shower. Coming in what looks to be aluminum tubes, shipping begins in February for this thought-starting brand but is taking pre-orders now! Reyn SkinLaunching in February, Reyn Skin is all about fighting inflammaging. Base Serum, will be their first product, Clinically proven to promote cellular repair and designed to help your skin heal and age in the healthiest way possible. The brand sees itself as “functional skincare for elevated wellness” and has shown a celestial vibe on Instagram which I just can’t get enough of. Excited to see this brand come to life.Color CampThe highest quality of press-on nails I think the beauty industry has ever seen. Color Camp’s At-Home Super Gels are completely made to order by LA artists. You’re able to choose your shape, length, and color by starting with a try-on kit. You’ll use the kit to figure out all of your preferences so Color Camp can get the perfect fit. Truly an at-home nail experience! Plus, their designs and colors can’t be beat. They’re serving up trendy nail-art realness. Zaila SkinLaunching in May 2021, Zaila skin is looking to fuse Ayurvedic herbs from India like Ashwaghanda, Tulsi, Neem, and Amla with popular active ingredients from modern skincare like vitamin c and niacinamide. As an ingredient driven brand, Zaila skin is actively spending pre-launch efforts sourcing ingredients from women’s collectives in the Himalayas. HOW TO ROUND 2: EASIEST INTENSE WING LINER
Why hello there! I’m continuing on my how to tutorials. I really like this series breaking down all makeup trends and putting up how to tutorials for all makeup artist levels for makeup trends. Continuing on the wing liner, I used a liquid liner for my wing tutorial which is what I normally do. But liquid liners are not very beginner friendly. So this tutorial will teach you how to create an intense wing liner using a matte black eyeshadow. So check out the tutorial above to see how I achieve a wing liner using eyeshadow. Next tutorial will be the last of the wing liners. NEW FIND! And I’m pleasantly surprised!?
NEW FIND! And I’m pleasantly surprised!?
It was time to get a new moisturizer. I was currently using the HONEST - Hydrogel Cream paired with the PAULA'S CHOICE - Omega+ Complex Moisturizer , RADHA BEAUTY - Rosehip Oil , and timeless SKIN CARE - Squalane Oil 100% Pure because I have pretty dry skin. I love both of those moisturizers (although I’m not fond of all the Paula’s choice Omega+ complex moisturizer ingredients, but I loooooove the texture and feeling of it ) and love my oils (I won’t stop using the oils), but knew I needed a richer cream and also wanted to keep it down to just one cream, for time and my bank accounts sake. So if you’ve seen my last post, I was deciding between 3 brands but I couldn’t decide and was also nervous to try a new moisturizer, even though I knew I needed one, because I’m also acne prone so a new moisturizer to me was just terrifying lol. I was about to just get my usual HONEST - Hydrogel Cream because I knew it didn’t break me out and I like it a lot, although not quite as moisturizing as I need, it was on the safer side and I can’t imagine going a day without a moisturizer on this Sahara desert of a face!!! But then I discovered this brand I’ve never seen before? It’s called Awake Human. It’s not even a listing on Cherie for me to add the product! I read the ingredients and was intrigued (scroll through pics to see ingredients list), but because of my fear of new moisturizers, I was hesitant.. but I decided to bite the bullet because the ingredients looked amazing, was cheaper than Paula’s choice and the honest beauty’s moisturizer, but had the same amount of product. I received it a few days ago and I am in love!!!!! Soooooo rich and creamy and hydrating feeling, and it had the same smooth, rich, texture as the Paula’s Choice omega moisturizer, that I love so much!!! It comes in a nice little pump type of packaging, which I like. Keeps bacteria and gunk out. If you scroll through my pictures, you’ll see it. And a little bit goes a long way! The picture you see of the product on my fingers is the amount I use, but you can totally use less, especially if you have more oily or normal skin. I just like a lot of moisturizer! Lol I’ve noticed my face is much less dry feeling and looks smoother with less texture. I will keep you updated, but I think this is my new fave!!!! I’m so excited lol. Here the link the purchase: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07NWXJYVK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glc_fabc_YHI-Fb9BRJKT0?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 If you’re hesitant but intrigued like I was, I strongly encourage you to just try it. And if it happens that doesn’t work for your face, because remember, everyone is different and skincare is not a one size fits all, then it would most definitely be a really really nice hand cream, that would fit nicely in your bag. Have you heard of this brand before? And if so, have you used anything from them?
What it means to blowdry down the hair cuticle!
What it means to blowdry down the hair cuticle!
Let’s simplify what it means when a hairstylist says to blow dry down the hair cuticle: When you think of your hair, think of the shingles on a roof. They’re all laying down but on top of each other. The cuticle of our hair is doing the same! When we blow dry up or at the hair cuticle, it causes all those little shingles to stand up- causing frizz, loss of moisture, and hair damage. When we blow dry down the hair cuticle, all the shingles can lay flat against each other and be the protective barrier that they’re supposed to be. If you’re having trouble with extra frizz or loss of moisture pay attention to the direction that your blow drying. This could make all the difference!
Tips from a derm for exercise induced acne
Tips from a derm for exercise induced acne
With a new year comes resolutions, many involving healthier lifestyles and exercise. So why let exercise induced acne hold you back from achieving these healthier choices. Exercising can cause excessive sweating-leading to increased oils, dirt, friction, and even bacteria on your skin leading to acne. This can manifest as facial or truncal acne (think backne), often known as acne mechanica or folliculitis. Cleansing properly is incredibly important for preventing exercise induced acne. It’s important to remove all makeup prior to working out. Gently shower with lukewarm water immediately after sweating. If a shower is not available, reach for a cleansing wipe. Clean, loose-fitting moisture wicking attire is key. This helps prevent friction and additional bacteria and sweat from dirty clothing. In addition to wiping down all gym equipment, don’t forget about the stuff that hits your skin regularly such as headphones, watches, and headbands. Most importantly, don’t forget sunscreen and gentle moisturizers.
