Fall Skincare SwitchesCombat cold weather dryness with these easy skincare swaps!
One of my favorite parts of fall, along with cozy socks and even cozier candles, is swapping out some of my usual skincare routine for products that are extra hydrating and soothing. I like to prevent skin problems before they happen, and I know that even my oily/combo skin can get a little dry and irritated as the weather gets colder. And it just feels so luxurious to be so moisturized, which is an affordable way to treat myself every night! Here are some of my favorite skincare products I like to add to my routine that are great for moisturizing and nourishing your cold-weather skin:The Ordinary 100% Plant-Derived Squalane
Nov. 17, 2020
The Ordinary100% Plant-Derived SqualaneI love using this squalane oil as a final layer over my moisturizer, especially on nights I’m using active ingredients like salicylic acid or retinol. It locks in all my nighttime skincare without feeling heavy or greasy on my face, and when I wake up in the morning my skin is always so soft. I like to apply a couple of drops to my palms and press it into my face, using the heat of my hands to help it absorb into my skin.Dr. Jart+ Cicapair Tiger Grass Cream
Dr. Jart+Cicapair™ Tiger Grass CreamI’ve tried most of the products in the Cicapair line, and I love this cream the most. This is my favorite product for preventing flakiness or redness from the colder weather. And a little bit goes a long way! I use a small dab of this every night (and sometimes in the morning too!) on the parts of my face that are prone to irritation, like the sides of my nose and any healing breakouts.Vanicream Gentle Facial Cleanser
VANICREAMGentle Facial CleanserThis is a 2-in-1 skincare switch! On nights when I apply retinol or some type of chemical exfoliant, I’ll prep my skin by using this gentle facial cleanser. I double cleanse every night, but when the weather is cold or I want to treat my skin extra gently, I won’t emulsify all of my cleansing oil after the first step. Instead, I’ll wet my face and gently (are you sensing a theme?) massage this cleanser into my face for the second step. Then I’ll rinse everything off with lukewarm water. My face never feels tight or stripped of moisture when I double cleanse, but when I use this technique my skin feels even softer than usual! CeraVe Healing Ointment
CeraVeHealing OintmentHonestly this product is a year-round staple for me, but usually just as a nighttime lip balm. But when I notice my skin gets drier than normal in the fall, I’ll dab some of this on any flaky spots. This ointment is made with petrolatum, an occlusive that does a great job of sealing in moisture and preventing transepidermal water loss (TEWL), which is when your skin loses its natural moisture.frank body Original Coffee Scrub
frank bodyOriginal Coffee ScrubI’ll admit, I’m not as consistent at exfoliating my body as I probably should be. But when the weather is cold and one of the best parts of the day is a nice, hot shower, then I want to stay in there for as long as possible! Which means it’s a great time for me to take an extra few minutes to use this coffee scrub, which smells amazing and leaves my skin feeling super smooth. It’s also made with ingredients like sweet almond oil and vitamin E to add a little extra moisturizing action (for those of us who also aren’t the best at applying body lotion after a shower…)What are some of your favorite fall skincare products?

Wednesday Wellness 🙏🏾
This past week has been rather hard and long for me. I ultimately decided to get back on track with my wellness plan. My main wellness goal for 2021, is to indulge in myself more. I definitely am a firm believe in “as within, so without”. I started my day with: #Four Sigmatic - Mushroom Elixir Mix with Chaga[products]#[FiveStars] I have been getting back into adaptogen and herbal medicine. What we put into our bodies is just as important as what goes on the outside. Adaptogens are apart of ancient medicinal traditions traced all over the world. I also drink Tulsi “Holy Basil” Tea. If you need a pick me up or emotional boost I highly recommend! SUNDAY RILEY - U.F.O. Ultra-Clarifying Face Oil is my treatment of choice I used during the day. Do not be afraid to use salicylic acid during the day. I applied plenty of sunscreen afterwards as well! This is a GODSEND for clearing up acne and acne scarring. It’s by far the best acne treatment I’ve tried and its mostly due to the immediate results I get. This is a dry oil, so it should be used before a heavy moisturizer or sunscreen. THE BODY SHOP - Spa of the World Thai Makrut Lime Firming Oil is a staple in my night time routine. When I want to relax and really unwind I use a body roller with this oil. It smells like a fresh key lime pie and it’s so hydrating. This is great for firming, especially when paired with a body tool. What do you do for wellness?
Just added to skincare routine
I usually use some of the the tatcha dewy skin collection skincare, I just added this to the routine. Literally tatcha is the only thing that keeps my skin care at this moment. The dewy collection is great for dry skin but it is a bit pricey. The $12 face mask thoooo be hitting. Anybody else use this brand or want to use it?
Black Owned Makeup Look
So I decided to use the products I pictured in my first photo (minus my highlight shade and lipstick) I used the #Ace Beaute - Nostalgia Palette[products]#[FiveStars] for my entire eye look. I definitely enjoyed these products. My only advice is to shake the UOMA BEAUTY - Say What?! Foundation before use (because it can come out watery) but the coverage is absolutely flawless. I was shocked with the consistency the coverage I got. What’s your favorite black owned brands? (I do not own right to the song)
Black Owned Intimate Care ✨🌹
I did a review on this brand before but in honor of BHM I def had to bring it up again ! #Saltxo - Yoni Shower Gel[products]#[FiveStars] #Saltxo - Femme Rejuv Oil[products]#[FiveStars] I use this gel everyday! It leaves my Yoni energized and clean. I’ve never experienced any irritation and I’m extremely sensitive in that area. It smells very herbal like and a little goes a long way! ($17.99) The Femme Rejuv Oil is a great staple for irritation. I use this baby after my waxes, Emergency shaves, and after getting busy. I find this to be the best oil I’ve ever used down there. A little goes a long way. ($30) This brand is usually always out of stock! She sells out so fast but I always manage to get one thing. I definitely recommend if you love intimate soaps . Do you have a favorite intimate soap ?
At Home Exfoliating Facial ✨✨
So I recently received the Mimi Co Exfoliating Wand via IG PR. I couldn’t wait to do a full facial and I decided to do it tonight. Order: I purchased a steamer from Amazon for $23 and I’m obsessed with it (DM me for product info). I started with UpCircle - Cleansing Face Balm With Apricot Powder As my oil cleanse to get my sunscreen from today off and any other oils and dirts. INDIE LEE - Purifying Face Wash This cleanser is perfect for getting dirts and oils from skin as well. It’s not drying and it’s totally worth it! I paired it with a face cleansing scrub brush, I also purchased from Amazon. I love it and I paid around $20 for it as well! It doubles the vibration frequency put out by Foreo. CLARISMA - Namaste Glow Energizing Face Mask This was the mask I chose for the enzyme properties. This breaks down dirts and oils in pores and dead skin cells. I also steamed my face during this time. Follain - Toning Mist: Balance + Prime This was what I sprayed over my face for the prep for my exfoliating wand. I didn’t have a true medium and I am out of Aloe Vera plants so😭 I then exfoliated with my wand starting at my cheeks and working upward and then to my forehead. I went down and to the sides of my nose. Glow slow! innisfree - Jeju Lava Seawater Lotion I used the toner to cleanse my skin and get any dirts left over from me exfoliating. SUMMER FRIDAYS - Jet Lag Mask I use this as my hydrating mask. I took the back of my Mimi Co Wand on switched to the Moisturizing Setting. I gently slid upwards my entire face for the last 2 mins only and then wiped the mask off with a damp cloth. earthtoskin - Tea Time Anti Aging Eye Cream This is the most hydrating eye cream I own. I used this with the back of my cleansing brush on the heat setting! Yes it made my eye feel so hydrated and relaxed. fresh - Lotus Anti-Aging Night Moisturizer This was the final step as a good moisturizer seals in everything! To prevent acne I use the SUNDAY RILEY - U.F.O. Ultra-Clarifying Face Oil as my last step. I didn’t use an astringent type toner, so I wanted to still treat my skin💚
