Top Tips for Taking Amazing Photos Indoors✨ Cherie Creator 101
❤️ Hi, CreatorsWe're so excited to welcome you back to today's newest edition of cherie creator 101! Our community is always sharing such amazing photos and beauty insights and we love seeing all of your posts. In this edition of creator 101, we will be letting you in on some tips and tricks for taking high-quality, well-lit photos at home. Get ready to master your photo taking skills and snap some amazing product shots and selfies! 🍒 A sun-filled window is your BFFNatural lighting looks good on anyone and anything. Find a spot in your home where the sunlight floods in and position yourself (or your products) in a spot where the sun "kisses" you (or your products). Natural light adds a glowy aura and diffuses any imperfections, creating a dreamy vibe in any photo.🍒 Direct light vs. Indirect lightIt's always good to play around with the positioning of yourself, or your products in different lighting. Direct light is when the subject of the photo is right in the spotlight, and indirect is when the subject is anywhere within the proximity of the spotlight. Direct light is great for really showing off a product, but too much of it can blur details. Indirect light is great for detail shots, but too little light and your camera can lose focus.🍒 Take photos at the right timeThe color of the light changes at different times throughout the day. Sometimes, light floods the room softly and can add a soft glow to photos. Other times, sunlight beams into the room to give a more dramatic or moody look. Sunrise or sunset (aka golden hour) gives a warm look. More relaxed or neutral light color happens at midday.🍒 Diffuse harsh lightSuppose you want to take a photo at night and have only one harsh light source, like a lamp in your room. You can try putting a sheet or a material over it, like a soft cloth, to soften the lighting and help with proper exposure and enhance the quality of your photo! Lighting is key to helping your photos shine through and get the attention of the rest of our community! Here are some incredible examples from our cherie fam:In this post, @Skinsitive shares an amazing product photo that is positioned well in natural window light, giving the picture a nice soft glow with a cool shadow as well.

I love saving money, but the idea that a product is a “duplicate” if it contains a similar active is misleading. Influencers use the word “dupe” as clickbait, trying to use the consumer’s desire to save money to fuel engagement rates- it feels shady and part of why I never call a product a “dupe”. These two have been popping up more and more together, so let’s check it out. THE inkey LIST - Peptide Moisturizer ｜⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ • Price: $14.99 USD per 50mL • Texture: Rich, Silky, Creamy. Better for drier skin. • Review: 2% Royal Epigen P5 and a 1% peptide blend comprise the “active” portion of this moisturizer. Two hydrating peptide complexes, Acetyl Hexapeptide-37 and Pentapeptide-48, make up the 1% peptide blend, including amino acids Arginine, Glutamic Acid, Leucine, Serine, Threonine, Alanine, Proline, and Glycine. Royal Epigen P5 is a synthetic peptide that the producing company claims imitates the regenerative quality of royalactin in royal jelly- they also claim that it can smooth skin texture and even skin tone, but I can’t locate any of the clinical studies they reference so I don’t give a whole lot of credence to those claims. Regardless, peptides as a whole are hydrating and skin-replenishing, making this a wonderful moisturizer for dry, irritated, or dehydrated skin, especially at the cost! DRUNK ELEPHANT - Protini Polypeptide Cream｜⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ • Price: $68 USD per 50mL • Texture: Bouncy, Silky, Gel-Like. Better for oilier skin. • Review: sh-Oligopeptide-1, sh-Oligopeptide-2, sh-Polypeptide-1, sh-Polypeptide-9, sh-Polypeptide-11, Copper Palmitoyl Heptapeptide-14, Heptapeptide-15 Palmitate, Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7, Palmitoyl Tripeptide-1, Alanine, Arginine, Glycine, Histidine, Isoleucine, Phenylalanine, Proline, Serine, Threonine, Valine, Acetyl Glutamine, and multiple fatty acids make this a lengthy INCI list with serious skin-replenishing qualities. Some of the peptides used are growth factors and one is a copper peptide, increasing the wound healing and collagen synthesis, with some personal testimony here of increased smoothness and blemish healing when used consistently. It’s a well-rounded INCI list, making the price tag less painful. Similarities between the two include air-right packaging and the fact that they include peptides, humectants, and emollients. Many products can say the same as far as the general ingredients go, yet there is a reason Protini is the iconic protein product many folks turn to: it’s stacked! If you’re looking to include peptides in your routine, the Inkey List’s Peptide Moisturizer is a wonderfully affordable way to do so, but there are in no way duplicates of one another. The copper peptides alone are a wonderful addition that differentiates the two, as well as the variety of inactive ingredients included in Protini that earn it its cult status. They’re both good and both serve similar goals, but saying they’re the same is an appallingly generalized statement. #CheriePartner
Niacinamide has been a “hot” ingredient for a while now - and for good reason! Niacinamide, which is a form of vitamin B-3, has many benefits including: •reducing the appearance of irritation •calm redness •improve the visibility of pores over time •oil regulation •improve skin texture over time •help soothe the appearance of acne and prevent future breakouts •improve fine lines and wrinkles over time •support a healthy skin barrier I have been using some form of niacinamide in my skincare courting for about a year and a half. My first niacinamide product was the GOOD MOLECULES - Niacinamide Brightening Toner ｜⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️, which I’ve since used up and repurchased. This toner also contains vitamin C to help brighten skin & reduce pores’ visibility. The odorless, watery texture absorbs quickly. It can be used 2x/day but I generally use 1x in the AM. My skin genuinely missed this when I didn’t have it. My skin looked a bit dull and I had some breakouts. It truly brightens my complexion and does help reduce pore visibility over time. $14 on brand’s website or Beautylish Serums are also a great way to add niacinamide into your routine. The insta natural - Niacinamide Serum｜⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ is a newer addition to my routine, but I’m so impressed. This was gifted to me by the brand. I’ve been using it regularly 1x in the PM after toner for just over a month now. I lock it in with moisturizer and occasionally face oil. This serum is extra awesome, especially for super dry skin like mine, because it contains hyaluronic acid, rosemary extract, avocado oil, and vitamin E. It does smell a bit like rosemary, but does not linger. The milky texture feels so soothing, especially when my skin is irritated and extra dry. My skin looks visibly more calm and is generally clear. The reason I love this is because niacinamide *can* be irritating for some (esp. super dry or sensitive types). I previously used The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%｜⭐️⭐️⭐️ (used up - no photo, $6) and would experience a mild burning sensation when applied over irritated + flaky spots. It also left my face super tacky and sometimes caused pilling of products on top. I don’t recommend that one for dry or sensitive skin, and wouldn’t repurchase. The Instanatural serum does not do any of those things. It will be in my routine long-term! Plus, it’s affordable at $18 (brand’s website) and comes in a 2oz bottle. Also available on Amazon ~ $16 All brands mentioned are cruelty-free (CF), and Instanatural is leaping bunny certified (a gold standard for CF products). Please note that I am not a skincare expert. Consult your dermatologist before introducing new ingredients to your routine. #CheriePartner

At Home Exfoliating Facial ✨✨
So I recently received the Mimi Co Exfoliating Wand via IG PR. I couldn’t wait to do a full facial and I decided to do it tonight. Order: I purchased a steamer from Amazon for $23 and I’m obsessed with it (DM me for product info). I started with UpCircle - Cleansing Face Balm With Apricot Powder As my oil cleanse to get my sunscreen from today off and any other oils and dirts. INDIE LEE - Purifying Face Wash This cleanser is perfect for getting dirts and oils from skin as well. It’s not drying and it’s totally worth it! I paired it with a face cleansing scrub brush, I also purchased from Amazon. I love it and I paid around $20 for it as well! It doubles the vibration frequency put out by Foreo. CLARISMA - Namaste Glow Energizing Face Mask This was the mask I chose for the enzyme properties. This breaks down dirts and oils in pores and dead skin cells. I also steamed my face during this time. Follain - Toning Mist: Balance + Prime This was what I sprayed over my face for the prep for my exfoliating wand. I didn’t have a true medium and I am out of Aloe Vera plants so😭 I then exfoliated with my wand starting at my cheeks and working upward and then to my forehead. I went down and to the sides of my nose. Glow slow! innisfree - Jeju Lava Seawater Lotion I used the toner to cleanse my skin and get any dirts left over from me exfoliating. SUMMER FRIDAYS - Jet Lag Mask I use this as my hydrating mask. I took the back of my Mimi Co Wand on switched to the Moisturizing Setting. I gently slid upwards my entire face for the last 2 mins only and then wiped the mask off with a damp cloth. earthtoskin - Tea Time Anti Aging Eye Cream This is the most hydrating eye cream I own. I used this with the back of my cleansing brush on the heat setting! Yes it made my eye feel so hydrated and relaxed. fresh - Lotus Anti-Aging Night Moisturizer This was the final step as a good moisturizer seals in everything! To prevent acne I use the SUNDAY RILEY - U.F.O. Ultra-Clarifying Face Oil as my last step. I didn’t use an astringent type toner, so I wanted to still treat my skin💚
Wednesday Wellness 🙏🏾
This past week has been rather hard and long for me. I ultimately decided to get back on track with my wellness plan. My main wellness goal for 2021, is to indulge in myself more. I definitely am a firm believe in “as within, so without”. I started my day with: #Four Sigmatic - Mushroom Elixir Mix with Chaga[products]#[FiveStars] I have been getting back into adaptogen and herbal medicine. What we put into our bodies is just as important as what goes on the outside. Adaptogens are apart of ancient medicinal traditions traced all over the world. I also drink Tulsi “Holy Basil” Tea. If you need a pick me up or emotional boost I highly recommend! SUNDAY RILEY - U.F.O. Ultra-Clarifying Face Oil is my treatment of choice I used during the day. Do not be afraid to use salicylic acid during the day. I applied plenty of sunscreen afterwards as well! This is a GODSEND for clearing up acne and acne scarring. It’s by far the best acne treatment I’ve tried and its mostly due to the immediate results I get. This is a dry oil, so it should be used before a heavy moisturizer or sunscreen. THE BODY SHOP - Spa of the World Thai Makrut Lime Firming Oil is a staple in my night time routine. When I want to relax and really unwind I use a body roller with this oil. It smells like a fresh key lime pie and it’s so hydrating. This is great for firming, especially when paired with a body tool. What do you do for wellness?
Drunk Elephant- The Littles 🐘
I won this cute little kit in a raffle & I couldn’t be more thankful! I have always wanted to try these products but never wanted to spend the money on all of them incase I didn’t like them! Inside this kit are the following products: DRUNK ELEPHANT - Beste No. 9 Jelly Cleanser Deluxe Sample DRUNK ELEPHANT - B-Hydra Intensive Hydration Serum DRUNK ELEPHANT - Protini Polypeptide Cream DRUNK ELEPHANT - C-Tango Multivitamin Eye Cream DRUNK ELEPHANT - T.L.C. Framboos Glycolic Resurfacing Night Serum DRUNK ELEPHANT - C-Firma Vitamin C Day Serum DRUNK ELEPHANT - Virgin Marula Luxury Facial Oil DRUNK ELEPHANT - Umbra Tinte Physical Daily Defense Broad Spectrum Sunscreen SPF 30 That’s literally a whole skincare routine! So far I started out my day with one of Drunk Elephants infamous “Face Smoothies” I washed my face with Beste No. 9 Jelly Cleanser & then combined C-Firma Day Serum, Virgin Marula Luxury Facial Oil, & Protini Polypeptide Cream together on my mixing trey with a disposable skincare spatula! I applied it all over my face & neck. Once that absorbed, I applied Umbra Tinte Daily Defense SPF 30 over my face & neck & was done! I love how the kit comes with steps to walk you through different routines you can use in the morning or at night! I will do a follow up review after I have used all the products for a few weeks! But so far, my skin feels & looks great! I have been breaking out lately & haven’t felt the best about my skin so I really needed this pick me up!! Thank you for reading! You guys are the best!! ❤️ @cherie@Cheriebeauty@CheriePick
Clear Hydrated Skin The Clean Way✨
Staying in the trend of clean beauty, I have found an amazing product to add to my everyday routine. Odacité SKINCARE - Blue Aura Cleansing Water This is a cleansing water that is marketed to use in place of your cleanser for a “quick” clean. When looking for a good cleansing water, you want one that is hydrating and gets your face clean. Keep in mind not all cleansing waters are designed to clean makeup (I highly recommend a cleansing balm and cleanser). About This Brand: ✨Vegan ✨Cruelty Free ✨Certified Organic ✨ NO: Fillers | Parabens | Nanoparticles | Petrochemicals | PEG | Synthetic perfumes | Dyes | Phenoxyethanol. This cleansing water is so hydrating and satisfying to use. It smells very fresh and a little goes a long way. What is very important to me is my dry spot aren’t tight or irritated. I have been using this day and night and have seen amazing results acne and skin barrier wise. I included this in my routine after a regular cleanser and before my serums. So essentially, I use this as a “toner”. I do this to clean up anything my cleanse left behind, or the cleanser itself. INGREDIENTS: ✨Tumeric: Amazing for hyperpigmentation and overall skin brightness ✨Holy Basil: I drink the tea and can vouch this is an amazing adaptogen that can overall benefit every aspect of your life. It combats aging and free radical damage. ✨Neem: great anti aging ingredient that helps protects your skin barrier. ✨Aloe Vera Juice: this is great for your skin barrier overall. It hydrated, protects and brightens. I highly recommend this cleansing water and it is on sale for $9 at Boxycharm Pop Up 🥰🥰
Do It All Toner 🍃🍃
I have been loving the brand Truly lately ✨ I recently purchased this: 🍃TRULY - CBD Jelly Toning Solution 🍃 And it’s by far one of my favorite toners. Ingredients: 💚100MG CBD 💚Glycolic Acid 💚Tea Tree Oil 💚Organic Aloe 💚Rose Petal Extract This brand is also: 💚Vegan 💚Cruelty Free 💚Clean I use this every other night and it as tremendously helped my skin barrier and acne. I was really concerned about the glycolic acid irritating or drying my skin but it didn’t at all 🤩 I highly recommend this to combo and oily , acne prone skin. This will be a toner I keep in my night routine. I got it from Ulta (of course) for $24 (I paid $15 after coupons) Do you use CBD products? 🍃
