The Pre & Post Workout Routine You Need in Your LifeBelieve it or not, workout skincare is important and I’m here to help!
Cherie is an online community of beauty lovers sharing their stories; whether that's their favorite products, makeup tutorials, or skincare routines. Download the app today to be a part of #BeautyWithoutBarriers and show the world what beauty means to you! Whether you like to get a mile or two down early in the morning or like to blow off some steam with a workout at the end of the day, one thing remains the same: pre and post workout skincare is sooooo important! For one, having clean, SPF-covered skin before your workout is a MUST to protect against UV damage and to prevent pre-workout dirt and makeup from wreaking havoc on your skin. Secondly, once you complete your workout, you want to make sure you’re cleansing of all the sweat and gunk you may have accumulated during the deed, because duh—no one likes a sweaty face. The main thing to focus on in both of these routines is keeping it simple and effective. Here are the products I recommend! PRE-WORKOUT ROUTINE1. Gentle Oil CleanserI try to work out in the mornings, so I like to use a gentle oil cleanser like the cult-fave DHC Deep Cleansing Oil. It removes all of the leftover product from my nighttime routine and gets my skin supple and squeaky clean.2. TonerI use this Heritage Rose Water as a toner because it does wonders for keeping my skin fresh and moisturized. It’s truly my holy grail—and everyone needs to incorporate it into their routine stat.

HERITAGE STORERosewater Facial Toner3. SunscreenLast, but definitely not least, I use Neutrogena’s Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch SPF 100. I go straight into SPF and skip a moisturizer because I wear a mask while working out and that retains the moisturize in my skin (thank you TikTok for this info!). I also don’t want to waste product because I’ll wash this all off in my post-workout routine!

Gentle Creamy CleanserAt this point, I’m obviously very sweaty, so I like to cleanser my post-run skin with La Roche Posay’s Hydrating Gentle Face Cleanser. It’s honestly been a staple in my routine for a while because it’s so gentle and moisturizing.
LA ROCHE-POSAY Toleriane Hydrating Gentle Face Cleanser2. TonerI then go in with my Heritage Rose Water toner (yes, again!) because I can’t complete my routine without it.
HERITAGE STORERosewater Facial Toner3. Eye CreamTrust me when I say the Glossier Bubblewrap Eye + Lip Plumping cream is lifechanging. It plumps and moisturizes my undereye area, so I look awake and well-rested.
Glossier.Bubblewrap Eye + Lip Plumping Cream4. Moisturizer COSRX’s Hyaluronic Acid Intensive Cream is my all-time fave moisturizer for dry skin. Trust me on this one!5. SunscreenI finish my skin off with my sunscreen after I let my moisturizer seep in a little. Gentle reminder: Sunscreen is a must even if you’re inside all day!

DISAPPOINTED BY THESE 100% NATURAL PRODUCTS 😩
I was so excited to try these out because I love moisturizers & I am always in search of a good one! These looked & sounded very promising! They’re from a woman owned company, completely natural, vegan, & cruelty free! However, I was quite disappointed. EARTH HARBOR - MERMAID MILK Nutrient Glow Moisturizer This moisturizer claims to give you a glow right away & it contains spirulina + matcha. I was excited about the matcha because it has so many amazing benefits for skin. It has a very whipped consistency which I like. However it always contains essential oils that were strong, although not toooo strong for my liking. But I’m really just not a fan of essential oils in my face creams. The moisturizer did make my skin appear a little brighter but the cream just sat on my face. All day long I could touch my face & still feel the cream sitting there! I hate that feeling! It also almost gave me a greasy appearance after a while? Not a fan. EARTH HARBOR - SIREN SILK Multi-Tasking Hydration Creme This one was absolutely awful. If I could give it 0 stars I would. It says to use it at night time & the apply it at least 5 minutes before bed so it can absorb on your face & not your pillow. It contains Sea Retinol + other Superherbs which normally make me love a product! But that just wasn’t enough here. First, when I put it on my face my eyes started to actually burn & I felt suffocated from the scent. It was THAT strong. Guys, I’m not being dramatic at all. The smell like attacked me it was crazy! I have never had something like that happen with a face cream! I couldn’t believe how strong the fragrance was. & to top it off, it wasn’t even a pretty smell. My husband described it as smelling like floor cleaner. But I powered through. The longer I had it on, the more “used” to the smell I got. So, I wore it overnight. But then I woke up even more upset with it! I had pilling all over my face. It almost looked like my face was peeling but it wasn’t, it was jus the cream. One thing I cannot stand about a moisturizer is pulling. That’s enough for me to throw it out! It also didn’t really even moisturize my face that well! All in all, I hated this experience. But if you want, you should try them out for yourself, don’t let my experience deter you from trying something new! I however, will be sticking with my Youth To The People Dream Mask & Superfood Whipped Moisturizer! Love those two!! My Mental Wellness Improved Through My Self AcceptanceWhen I was around 13 or 14 years old, I remember routinely taking one of my older sister’s black eyeliner pencils before school every morning. I’d arrive early so that I could slip away to the girl’s bathroom to apply a single black line to my eyelids. My parents didn’t allow me to wear any makeup at the time. Although this smudgy line on my eyelids didn’t make me look all that much different, I never felt comfortable at school without it. My teenage mind convinced myself that I needed some sort of cosmetic symbol in order to appropriately express my femininity. Up until that point in my life, society had told girls that looked like me - tall, Black, and with kinky hair - that we somehow weren’t as beautiful as the other girls. For far too long, I believed it too.Feb. 17
