Home Remedies for Hair Loss

Oct. 12, 2020
Unusual or high amounts of hair fall can be alarming. While it is normal to lose around 80 to 100 strands of hair a day, finding hair on your pillow or clogging up your drain can lead to stress and anxiety about the fullness of your hair.

There are many reasons your hair may be thinning, including genetics, hormones, medicine, nutritional deficiencies, and tight styles. If your hair is thinning because of genetics, then there is little you can do about it besides keep the hair you have healthy. When it comes to stress, hormones, and nutritional deficiencies, all of these can be fixed with a proper diet. Finally, tight styles can cause traction alopecia, which is when your hair falls out around your temples and your hairline.
If you are suffering from hair loss, here are six home remedies that may help alleviate your hair problems.
  • Avocado hair mask.

Avocados are extremely rich in biotin and fat, two things your hair needs to grow healthy and strong, and an avocado hair mask is simple to whip up in your kitchen. All you need is one avocado, one tablespoon of olive oil, and the juice of one lemon. Blend all the ingredients, apply the paste to your hair, and then leave it on for 20 minutes before you shampoo and condition your hair. If you want some added benefits, you can always add a banana to your avocado hair mask.
  • Jojoba oil.

Sometimes your hair is thinning because of prolonged dryness, dandruff, or a chronically dry scalp. If any of these are your issue, then moisture is what you need to set your hair on the right track. Jojoba oil is a powerful oil that can help hair cells reproduce faster and moisturize your hair follicles to make your new growth healthy and strong. The best part is jojoba oil will not leave your hair feeling greasy and over-moisturized.
  • Aloe Vera.

Aloe vera gel is another great home remedy for thinning hair or hair loss. Not only can aloe vera soothe a damaged scalp, but it can also help prevent damage from styling by keeping your hair detangled and moisturized throughout the styling process. Aloe vera gel can also help remove sebum, an oil that can clog your hair follicles and prevent hair from growing. The best way to use aloe vera gel is to massage the gel directly into your scalp.
  • Egg hair mask.

It may not sound very pleasant, but an egg hair mask is an excellent way to inject your hair with tons of nutrients at one time. Eggs are rich in sulfur, phosphorus, and protein, making them a perfect treatment for hair fall. To make this mask, mix one egg white with a teaspoon of olive oil and honey. Apply the paste from the root to tip and then rinse it out after 20 minutes.
  • Apple Cider Vinegar Rinse.

It's very important to make sure that you are getting all of the product build-ups out of your hair every time you wash. Put simply, if your scalp doesn't feel squeaky clean, then you're probably leaving a little bit of sebum behind after your washes. One way to combat this is with an apple cider vinegar rinse. Before you wash your hair, massage apple cider vinegar into your scalp to loosen and remove excess sebum.
  • Cayenne pepper.

Another important factor in preventing hair loss is to make sure that your scalp is getting an adequate amount of blood circulation. If you're looking for a way to stimulate blood circulation on your scalp, consider using spicy cayenne peppers. Cayenne peppers contain capsaicin, which causes intense blood flow.
Hair loss can be caused by many different things, including genetics, stress, medication, tight and frequent styling, and nutritional deficiencies. If you're experiencing an unusual amount of hair loss, then it's time to start evaluating why your hair may be falling more than usual. Remember, it's completely normal to lose 80 to 100 strands of hair a day, but if you find yourself losing more than that, then these home remedies may help restore health and body to your hair.

Thank you @cheriefor this amazing gift 🤩 “buh-koo-chee-all” HERBIVORE - Bakuchiol Anti-Aging Serum I’ve already become a diehard Herbivore lover. So to receive this beauty was super exciting. When I started my acne journey on Cherie I was (and still am) a Differin Acne Gel stan. This was my choice of retinol and I wanted it strong to treat acne and boost my cellular turnover. Now that my acne is currently under control and it’s getting hot again, I definitely want something smooth and gentle. Bakuchiol is a gentler alternative to the very popular ingredient retinol. So essentially you’ll get overall youthful results for your skin. I haven’t tested this on my acne theory yet, but overall my face has been smooth and irritation free. This serum does not have a smell which I love for products of this caliber. I also love that it’s light and not drying at all. I use this at night and since i have a tolerance to retinol I use it every night. I haven’t been using it long enough to see results (about 12 weeks) but I definitely can’t wait to finish this. Have you tried Bakuchiol?

This past week has been rather hard and long for me. I ultimately decided to get back on track with my wellness plan. My main wellness goal for 2021, is to indulge in myself more. I definitely am a firm believe in “as within, so without”. I started my day with: #Four Sigmatic - Mushroom Elixir Mix with Chaga[products]#[FiveStars] I have been getting back into adaptogen and herbal medicine. What we put into our bodies is just as important as what goes on the outside. Adaptogens are apart of ancient medicinal traditions traced all over the world. I also drink Tulsi “Holy Basil” Tea. If you need a pick me up or emotional boost I highly recommend! SUNDAY RILEY - U.F.O. Ultra-Clarifying Face Oil is my treatment of choice I used during the day. Do not be afraid to use salicylic acid during the day. I applied plenty of sunscreen afterwards as well! This is a GODSEND for clearing up acne and acne scarring. It’s by far the best acne treatment I’ve tried and its mostly due to the immediate results I get. This is a dry oil, so it should be used before a heavy moisturizer or sunscreen. THE BODY SHOP - Spa of the World Thai Makrut Lime Firming Oil is a staple in my night time routine. When I want to relax and really unwind I use a body roller with this oil. It smells like a fresh key lime pie and it’s so hydrating. This is great for firming, especially when paired with a body tool. What do you do for wellness?
