Oil Cleansing, what is it?
Oil cleansing is exactly what it sounds like. Using oil(s) to cleanse the skin of makeup & impurities. But of course you already know that (: Oil cleansing is super popular right now, known as the first step in the double cleanse that has also gone viral due to people being bored as st at home. But honestly, almost everyone reall skeptical prior to trying oil cleansing for themselves as oil is a trigger word; it brings to mind thoughts of acne, large gross pores, and greasy a** skin. Everyone's skin is different, so yeah it might not work for everyone. But its in the science, bitches! Like dissolves like, one of the most important and fundamental principles of chemistry. Oil cleansing your face can penetrate the pores more deeply and is able to dissolve the buildup in your pores that is responsible for breakouts and texture. Does using pure hemp seed oil to oil cleanse, rather than using a pre-formulated product with multiple types of ingredients, produce results? Is it ok to use a pure oil on the skin? I'll share my experience with you.
100% Pure Cold Pressed Hemp Seed Oil for Cleansing?
Typically, skin care experts and almost everyone will suggest purchasing a pre-formulated product that contains ingredients besides just the oil, such as surfectants and emollients to improve product performance. I feel like the idea of using "pure" "natural" oils on your face is associated with DIY skincare so people think its bad. But is it really? Lets take a look at what hemp seed oil is, and how it can help (or hurt?) your skin.
Hemp Seed Oil in Skincare
Benefits: can reduce inflammation, hydrate - high in omega acids 3, 6, and 9, all of which are fatty acids that help repair the skin barrier and form a seal over the skin to keep moisture trapped inside, it is a humectant so it draws moisture into the skin, and can even regulate oil production according to some dermatologists.
Who should use it: this is tricky, most derms will recommend it to people with combination to oil skin, but i know several people with dry skin that benefit greatly with hemp seed oil
Works well with acids & retinoids as it can mitigate irritation they may cause
How it fits into my routine
In my PM routine, I use pure hemp seed oil (cold pressed, organic from a trusting brand) on dry skin and I use quite a bit. I massage it in to my skin for as long as I want. I like to do it for at least 10 minutes because by then you can feel some of your sebaceous filaments coming out and the oil penetrating into your pores to get the gunk out. Twice a week I add a small amount of pure organice castor oil to the hemp seed oil and continue as normal oil cleansing.
Because I am using a PURE oil, that doesn't contain any other ingredients to help it rinse off, it is vital that I go in with a cleanser as step 2 to remove the oil along with all the gunk it pulled out of my skin. I personally use the Herbivore's Pink Cloud Cleanser.
Hemp Seed Oil VS Pre-formulated Oil Cleansers
To be honest, I have been loving using the hemp seed oil for my oil cleanse so much that I have only tried one actual pre-formulated oil cleanser. I used
for about a week. It was so fragrant it gave me a headache. And the formula was so light that it felt like it kept sinking and dissapearing into my skin. I think ended up using like 8 pumps each time and it recommends using 2-3. And I just didn't feel that it pulled & loosened the gunk in my skin as well as the pure hemp seed oil.
What do you guys use?
I really want to try more oil cleansers but I am just not impressed with the ingredients list most of the time. Also I am dying to try the Then I Met you cleansing balm. Do you guys use oil cleansers or balms? What kinds? What do you think about using hemp seed oil?
I will post with updates as I continue on my 420 oil cleansing journey...
Much love XOXO

Double Your Lash Length With Sky High Mascara!
Double Your Lash Length With Sky High Mascara!
I bought this mascara after seeing a post about it on Facebook. I love trying out new mascaras but rarely do I find one that I will use regularly like my beloved tarte - Maneater Mascara However this stuff is good. MAYBELLINE - Lash Sensational Sky High Waterproof Mascara It gave my lashes so much volume & length they literally doubled in size! My lashes are already pretty long to begin with but this made them look amazing. The photo is after applying only one coat so I can only imagine how good they will look after two or three coats! It also didn’t clump up my lashes at all. I applied it really quickly & lazily too because I was in a rush to get ready & I was still amazed! I honestly think this is going to be my new daily mascara. It is waterproof but not the annoying kind that leaves your eyes completely black when you go to take it off. It came off really easily with my POND'S - Facial Moisturizers Dry Skin Cream which is what I’ve always used to remove my eye makeup, since I was a kid! @cherie@Cheriebeauty@CheriePick
At Home Exfoliating Facial ✨✨
At Home Exfoliating Facial ✨✨
So I recently received the Mimi Co Exfoliating Wand via IG PR. I couldn’t wait to do a full facial and I decided to do it tonight. Order: I purchased a steamer from Amazon for $23 and I’m obsessed with it (DM me for product info). I started with UpCircle - Cleansing Face Balm With Apricot Powder As my oil cleanse to get my sunscreen from today off and any other oils and dirts. INDIE LEE - Purifying Face Wash This cleanser is perfect for getting dirts and oils from skin as well. It’s not drying and it’s totally worth it! I paired it with a face cleansing scrub brush, I also purchased from Amazon. I love it and I paid around $20 for it as well! It doubles the vibration frequency put out by Foreo. CLARISMA - Namaste Glow Energizing Face Mask This was the mask I chose for the enzyme properties. This breaks down dirts and oils in pores and dead skin cells. I also steamed my face during this time. Follain - Toning Mist: Balance + Prime This was what I sprayed over my face for the prep for my exfoliating wand. I didn’t have a true medium and I am out of Aloe Vera plants so😭 I then exfoliated with my wand starting at my cheeks and working upward and then to my forehead. I went down and to the sides of my nose. Glow slow! innisfree - Jeju Lava Seawater Lotion I used the toner to cleanse my skin and get any dirts left over from me exfoliating. SUMMER FRIDAYS - Jet Lag Mask I use this as my hydrating mask. I took the back of my Mimi Co Wand on switched to the Moisturizing Setting. I gently slid upwards my entire face for the last 2 mins only and then wiped the mask off with a damp cloth. earthtoskin - Tea Time Anti Aging Eye Cream This is the most hydrating eye cream I own. I used this with the back of my cleansing brush on the heat setting! Yes it made my eye feel so hydrated and relaxed. fresh - Lotus Anti-Aging Night Moisturizer This was the final step as a good moisturizer seals in everything! To prevent acne I use the SUNDAY RILEY - U.F.O. Ultra-Clarifying Face Oil as my last step. I didn’t use an astringent type toner, so I wanted to still treat my skin💚

Thank you @cheriefor this amazing gift 🤩🤩 Something thing I am very particular about is my moisturizer. My skin barrier tends need the extra TLC and the best thing to give it is moisture. So when I look for a moisturizer I need something that gives me instant hydration and doesn’t clog my pores. So when I received the : BASE BUTTER - Radiate Face Jelly Aloe Vera Gel Face Moisturizer I was so excited! The Brand : ✨Black Owned ✨Women Owned ✨Cruelty Free ✨Non-Comedogenic ✨Vegan ✨Paraben Free 🔑 Ingredients : ✨Aloe Vera Juice ✨Shea Butter ✨Evening Primrose Oil Okay, as you can see your girl woke up DULL! The only thing I did for this video was wash my face and use this to show y’all the transformation! I was using this EVERY night but last night I used my acne treatment routine and your girl FELT THAT (salicylic acid can be so drying to my combo skin). What’s my favorite part? This baby doesn’t have a smell or heavy greasy feel, so it perfect year round! At $21 this is a DEAL ! (The line I used on my cheek covered the entire bottom portion of my face!) Thank you @cheriefor this amazing gift 🤩 “buh-koo-chee-all” HERBIVORE - Bakuchiol Anti-Aging Serum I’ve already become a diehard Herbivore lover. So to receive this beauty was super exciting. When I started my acne journey on Cherie I was (and still am) a Differin Acne Gel stan. This was my choice of retinol and I wanted it strong to treat acne and boost my cellular turnover. Now that my acne is currently under control and it’s getting hot again, I definitely want something smooth and gentle. Bakuchiol is a gentler alternative to the very popular ingredient retinol. So essentially you’ll get overall youthful results for your skin. I haven’t tested this on my acne theory yet, but overall my face has been smooth and irritation free. This serum does not have a smell which I love for products of this caliber. I also love that it’s light and not drying at all. I use this at night and since i have a tolerance to retinol I use it every night. I haven’t been using it long enough to see results (about 12 weeks) but I definitely can’t wait to finish this. Have you tried Bakuchiol?
