Our community members really enjoy watching videos because of how much more information can be shared in a visually engaging manner. For this edition of Cherie Creator 101, we will be sharing some tips to help you get started with creating great video posts on cherie that will bring in cheers!🍒Videos are a better way to showcase a product's texture / consistency! In this example from @Mallory, this video demonstrates how effective videos are in capturing more details about a product. In the post, she recommends gel formula products to those with oily skin and is able to clearly showcase the lightweight gel texture of this product by shooting a video!
A common question I get at work is “Do I still need a moisturizer if I have oily skin?”. I’m not sure when or where this myth started but a lot of people I’ve encountered have been told in the past that if you have oily skin adding a moisturizer on top is going to make your oils worse. This couldn’t be farther from the truth! Every skin type can benefit for a moisturizer, you know have to find the right one. When you cleanse your skin you have potential to strip it if it’s natural oils. In order to keep balance you have to supplement it with hydrating ingredients. I know the go to thought process with oily skin would be to take away those oils (maybe with stripping ingredients like alcohol filled toners) but if you pair it with the right moisturizer you’ll actually feel more balanced. I learned in esthetics school about the three basic types of moisturizers. You have humectants (which attract water), emollients (which smoothes the skin by filling in dry patches), and occulsives (which form a protective layer). With oily skin you’ll want to focus on humectants because you need less “oily” ingredients and more “watery” ones. These will be mainly found in gel formulas. They will be lightweight enough on the skin to where you don’t feel heavy and gross but give you the hydration your skin craves. Some of my favorites are the 🛒｜GLOW RECIPE - Watermelon + AHA Glow Sleeping Mask ｜⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Farmacy Daily Greens, and the Clinique ID series with the clear gel base. In the long run using gel moisturizers will actually help contribute to balancing your oil production and your skin will thank you in the long run. 🖤🍒 Videos can be used to show how to use a product! In this post, @Zoelamps shares an electronic beauty device that makes her skin amazing. Her video post is able to effectively show how to use the product better than a still image would be able to!
Absolutely! I’ve been using my 🛒｜ZIIP - ZIIP GX ｜⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ for years and I love it so much. It has treatments for every skin need, for instance, acne, dark spots, wrinkles, and so much more. My friends tell me that I look like I have gotten a face lift (lol I’m only 24) and I owe it all to my ZIIP. I try and use it every few days and do a couple treatments in one sitting. I use the 🛒｜ZIIP - Golden Conductive Gel ｜⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ for all of my treatments. Although, I have never used the other gels. In case you don’t know what ZIIP is, it’s a app connected beauty device that uses electric currents to go through the skin. “Think of your ZIIP as an exquisitely beautiful battery that creates a circuit with your skin. It is able to send nanocurrents and microcurrents of varying waveforms to increase cell energy, communication, and repair. The electrical currents we use have been shown to increase ATP, or Adenosine Triphosphate, in skin cells. ATP is a naturally-occurring molecule that provides cells and muscles with usable energy.” (ZIIP website) It is really cool when you use it because you can actually feel the current through the skin. It is an investment but I think it’s worth it. Like I said, I’ve owned this product for years! It actually works and last for a very long time. I’ve never had any issues with it and it makes me skin feel and look amazing.🍒Videos can be used to share a complete product routine / collection! In this example, @athena__17 shares her PM skin journey and uses a video to show the products one by one all in the same video, which is more convenient than taking photos of each one and uploading them separately.
Im just going to go through each of these AMAZING products! Not all of these will necessarily work for your skin, but ill try to list some information on all of them so you can make some informed decisions 🛒｜LA ROCHE-POSAY - Toleriane Hydrating Gentle Face Cleanser ｜⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I literally love this cleanser. Everything about it. As a niacinamide based cleanser, it cleanses the skin of dirt, makeup and impurities whine maintaining the skins natural moisture barrier and pH. All while leaving my skin hydrated and refreshed. When i use this cleanser, i usually wet my face and hands, take 1-2 pumps of cleanser, and just rub it into my skin. I've heard there's a version for skin that's just as good. 15$ 🛒｜THE inkey LIST - Hyaluronic Acid Serum ｜⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This works pretty well. This is probably not ESSENTIAL essential for my skincare routine, but it definitely packs a punch! It hydrates and feels really nice. When i use it, all i need is 1-2 drops to cover my entire face! 8$ 🛒｜The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% ｜⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Niacinamide sure does live up to it's hype. From the ordinary, it sooths and and so much more. Honestly, the benefits of niacinamide are endless. I love the formula. It sinks effortlessly into my skin. All i do is take a couple drops on my hands and rub it in! It usually can make my disappear overnight! ( it doesn't work this way for everyone) Definetly think this is worth adding to your routine 6$ 🛒｜The Ordinary - Lactic Acid 5% + HA ｜⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A very mild exfoliant, it works wonders on my skin. If you have skin, i would recommend a BHA instead of an AHA, but lactic acid is good for my skin. It gets the job done. I apply it every night and it feels nice, but it also smells weird and is kinda boring. no ✨ p i z z a z✨ 6.50$ 🛒｜The Ordinary - Vitamin C Suspension 23% + HA Spheres 2% ｜⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ DO NOT BUY THIS IF YOU HAVE SKIN! This product has a sh*t ton of vitamin c, and should definetly be applied sparingly. Definetly recommend only applying small amounts to limited parts of the face. When used properly, however, this product can work wonders. I give it 4 stars because the instructions don't really specify this, but it REALLY helped my skin. 6$ 🛒｜CeraVe - Eye Repair Cream ｜⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This eye cream worked wonders for my s!! It didn't help as much with my puffiness, but still HIGHLY recommend! This is a relatively cheap eye cream, with niacinamide as the SECOND ingredient!! See how many exclamation points im using?!?! This product is worth using explanation points for!!! 13$ 🛒｜CeraVe - PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion ｜⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🛒｜The Ordinary - 100% Organic Cold Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil ｜⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ These two work together REALLY well. Take 2 pumps of the lotion, 2 drops of the rosehip oil, mix, and rub it in? Incredible. Amazing. Hydrates and moisturizes beautifully and feels like heaven. $12 $10🍒 Voice-overs: Including voice-overs and audio in your videos can make them even more informative and interesting! In this post, @xreyymua recorded an unboxing video to introduce a collection of Sephora brushes. He verbally explains the function of each brush and the voice over adds a personal element to make the video more engaging. For those of you looking for new ways to create video posts on cherie, you could try filming a video with your own voice in it or even edit a voiceover into the video after you are done recording! Voiceovers can be used for product reviews, tutorials, tips and tricks, and anything else you would like to add your own personal touch to!
I belive these launched Oct/ Nov 2019 (these videos are from my unboxing stories I do on Instagram) and I used these RELIGIOUSLY! Not only are they incredibly beautiful to look at but the quality, the holding cup and the overall aesthetic sold me. I was lucky enough to get these sent over from Milk Makeup to try out. At first I didn’t want to use them but I caved and used them the same day lol. The bristles are very beautifully packed, so soft yet dense, and no shedding!! (and I wash my brushes after I use them so I’m surprised they haven’t shed 1 hair yet). These brushes of course are vegan and cruelty free! I love Milk Makeup products so much as they are usually more on the simplistic yet effective end of beauty, no crazy price spikes. These are unfortunately not for sale anymore I believe but I wish they would bring them back! I always recommend this brush set to anyone who’s looking to step up their base routine. 🛒｜SEPHORA COLLECTION - Milk Makeup x Studio Brush Set｜⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️To get started on creating video posts, you can click "Upload" to upload existing videos from your camera roll, or click "Shoot Loop" to shoot a 10-second loop. Thanks for reading and being a part of the cherie community! HOW TO: AT-HOME BLOWOUT
At-home blowouts are the future of hair styling! Ever since I went to Dry Bar a year ago to get a blowout for $80 (which is just ridiculous in my opinion), I’ve been mastering my at-home blowout. I purchased the Revlon One-Step Volumizer Hair Dryer at Ulta which completely changed the game for my hair after shower hair routine! REVLON - One-Step Volumizer Hair Dryer Bonus Tip: Remember to spray a heat protectant in your hair before drying it. 😊 OUAI - Heat Protection Spray To get max volume and flipped ends, I take 1 inch sections and start at the root of my hair. I go as slowly as possible so that all of my roots are dry. Next, I twist the brush so that my hair is wrapped around it all the way down the section of hair. I repeat this process until I reach the top of my head. Lastly, I take a straightener to flatten any flyaways or unwanted curls if there are any left. That’s it! In total, the entire process takes me about 20 minutes. My hair feels so soft, light, and looks amazing afterwards. The next time you think about going to purchase a blowout, I recommend trying it at home first! 💕

Why pH of skincare products is important?
The pH is defined as the negative logarithm (base ten) of the concentration of free hydrogen ions in aqueous solution. The pH of skin surface ranges from 4.5 to 6 making it slightly acidic. The acidic nature of the whole skin surface was first claimed by Heuss in 1892; however, the first scientific study was carried out by Schade and Marchionini in 1928, who called it the acid mantle. The “acid mantle” protects the skin by inhibiting the growth of pathogenic organisms, regulating keratinization, desquamation and wound healing. Any disruption in the acid mantle disrupts the activity of enzymes involved in barrier function and anti-microbial protection. The skin pH and the buffering capacity of the skin surface are made up of the components of the stratum corneum as well as the secretions from sebaceous and sweat glands. Sweat is an important contributor towards skin acidity owing to its content of amino acid, lactic acid, and urea, which supplement skin NMF levels. The formation of stratum corneum barrier requires enzymes that are pH dependent. Two lipid-processing enzymes β-glucocerebrosidase and acidic sphingomyelinase require a pH of 5.6 and 4.5, respectively. An increased skin surface pH activates enzyme serine proteases, which causes degradation of corneodesmosomes and affects the skin barrier. pH also has a big impact on the skin microbiome. The bactericidal activity, because of dermicidin and nitrites in sweat, occurs optimally at pH 5.5. The resident bacterial flora changes as pH increases causing increase in population and activity of P. acnes and Staphylococcus aureus which are responsible for acne and eczema. All these result in contact dermatitis, atopic dermatitis, ichthyosis, acne vulgaris and Candida albicans infections. Products with high pH cause swelling of skin follicles affecting the permeability of the skin making it dry, sensitive, and susceptible. Most of the skincare products are formulated within the pH range of normal healthy skin except the exfoliating products that contain alpha-hydroxy acids (AHA’s), Vitamin C products and chemical peel which work at low pH. Facial oils, cleansing oils, balms are not pH dependent.
🤦🏻♀️Hyperpigmentation Around The Mouth🙅🏻♀️
You have got great skin. But the one thing that stops you from stepping out naturally without any makeup is the dark skin around your mouth. Is this true? You have tried everything from DIYs to skin lightening creams. But the pigmentation around your mouth has remained your stubborn friend, right Why Is The Skin Around My Mouth Dark? 1. Hyperpigmentation 2. Weather Conditions Sun exposure and darkening of the skin. In very cold weather, if you lick your lips and the area around it too often, it can discolour the skin and make it look darker How Do You Get Rid Of Hyperpigmentation Around The Mouth? 1. Exfoliate If you exfoliate the area around your mouth regularly with a gentle exfoliator, it can remove dead cells and help to lighten the skin. Opt for a chemical exfoliant as it will not scrape the skin which in turn may worsen the condition. 2. OTC Skin-Brightening Creams Skin brightening creams can be effective in reducing the dark area around the mouth. Look for ingredients such as glabridin (a licorice extract), kojic acid, vitamin C, grape seed extract, azelaic acid , arbutin, curcumin or niacinamide, These block the production of tyrosinase which is needed by the skin to make melanin. 3. Acid Peels Your dermatologist may use a salicylic acid or glycolic acid peel to treat the dark skin around your mouth. However, these peels do not offer a permanent solution and the pigmentation can return. These peels penetrate deep into the skin to repair the damaged cells. Post treatment precautions like staying out of the sun, applying sunscreen and protecting the skin can make the effect of the peels last longer 6. Natural Remedies You can also use natural remedies to treat the dark skin around your mouth. Most of these natural ingredients can be found in your kitchen. Unless you have an allergy to any of these, you can try using them to get rid of the pigmented skin. Exfoliate with Papaya Papaya has fruit acids known as alpha-hydroxy acids, which is a chemical exfoliantAHAs are used for dry skin and to anti-age, and works to improve skin by removing the top layers of the skin through weakening the lipids that bond them together, thus removing dull and dead skin cells and revealing healthy skin cells. Soothe Skin and Reduce Spots with Almond Oil The presence of Vitamin E and niacin help with hyperpigmentation and improving skin tone,” she says. Because sweet almond oil is non-comedogenic (meaning it won’t clog your pores) you can add it to your nightly routine as a makeup remover or moisturizer to help protect the skin barrier. Reverse Photo Damage with Tomatoes Tomatoes are naturally rich in lycopene, which has multiple health benefits, including sun protection Brighten with Yogurt breaks down dead skin cells thanks to lactic acid, which is found naturally in dairy products. Using a yogurt with cow’s milk could be effective in calming the skin, since it has lactic acid. Lactic acid is an AHA, which improves discoloration and age spots
