Or one that could help you sleep better? Or even a scent that could give you a burst of energy? It may seem farfetched, but these scents already exist! Essential oils are the wellness product your life is missing. Their strong scents help elicit certain feelings and emotions within you; also known as aromatherapy. According to WebMD, aromatherapy works by "[activating] areas in your nose called smell receptors, which send messages through your nervous system to your brain. The oils may activate certain areas of your brain, like your limbic system, which plays a role in your emotions." Think of aromatherapy similar to when you smell a familiar scent and it triggers a memory—but instead of a memory, essential oils can trigger positive emotions. Convinced yet? Keep reading to see how you can incorporate essential oils throughout your day to cater to your moods! 1. Desk-side diffuser to lessen your WFH stress

When you're working from home, sitting by your computer all day completing task after task, meeting after meeting, the stress can really pile on. Set a diffuser right by your desk to help keep your spirits lifted! I love using simple essential oils and mixing them to create my own blend. Vitruvi recently released their Home Refresh Kit featuring four limited edition essential oils—and they all smell bold, bright, and fresh. Whether you grab Vitruvi's scents or try to find dupes of it on your own, check out their recipe card below for some oh-so revitalizing essential oil blends to fill your workspace (and home) with! Anytime nasal inhalers for a jolt of energy

Having one of these essential oil inhalers handy has made a serious difference in helping me stay positive throughout the day. I love using the 'Energy' inhaler from Saje when I'm feeling lethargic and the 'Grounded' inhaler from Hellen NYC for when I start to feel overwhelmed and nervous. Both of these inhalers have incredible scents that really help bring me back to earth, feeling better about myself and my day! Hellen NYC's inhaler comes with a suggested ritual and music as well; you play the included track, inhale through one nostril, then the other, hold for a few seconds, and exhale. 3. Aromatherapy neck pillow for shoulder tension relief

I don't have this product but recently saw it on my fellow cherie teammate @jenny during a Zoom call! She says: "Found this hidden gem in the checkout line at CVS and 'aromatherapy' and 'tension relief' were the magical words to convince me to add it to my shopping cart. This weighted neck wrap smells like a luxurious spa and can be heated or chilled to your preferences. I let this gently rest on my shoulders as I work at home to help ease any stiffness or tension in my upper body. Best part is that it feels like a warm, soft hug and helps melt any stress away!"4. Essential oil-infused hair care for a scent trail of essential oils wherever you go

You know when you have an amazing smelling leave-in conditioner and the scent follows you throughout the day? Now imagine if that scent was an uplifting essential oil! Ankh Hair's Monarch Hair Oil has an essential oil blend that smells invigorating and energizing. I use this every time I wash my hair and the scent has literally lasted for DAYS. Whenever I get a whiff of the scent, I immediately feel a little bit brighter, and a little bit happier.

Trying to find the culprit... HELP!
Ever since I’ve added these two new products, I’ve noticed a couple new breakouts in places i’ve never experienced!!! They are red painful pimples too. Two on my forehead (I never get them there) , one on the outside of my nostril (i never get them there either), and the weirdest singular pimple on my NECK! Both of these products I have used on my face and neck, however, I’m not sure what product or ingredient is causing the sudden breakout!! Or is it just purging??? Help!!!!!! Did anyone else experience this with these products??? COSRX - Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence Murad - Nutrient-Charged Water Gel
My Top 5 Foundations for Oily Skin
My Top 5 Foundations for Oily Skin
Here are my top 5 foundations for oily/combination/acne prone skin! These are by no means my only favorite foundations, just the ones I keep going back to. 1. ESTĒE LAUDER - Double Wear Stay-in-Place Foundation This matte, oil-free foundation controls oil all day. It’s sweat, heat and humidity-resistant, waterproof and 24-hour colour true. With buildable, medium-to-full coverage that feels lightweight and so comfortable. No touchups needed. Best for hot weather/ holidays. The only Downside is that it doesn’t come with a pump 2. MAYBELLINE - Fit Me! Matte & Poreless Foundation This foundation is a must have if you are looking for a good drugstore option for oily skin. It’s super affordable and gives a beautiful finish without feeling heavy on the skin. 3. HUDA BEAUTY - Fauxfilter Foundation is perfect for you if you are looking for full coverage. Just a couple of pumps go a long way. However, the formula isn’t ideal for anyone with dry skin or for people sensitive to string fragrances. 4. L'ORÉAL - Infallible Pro-Matte Liquid Longwear Foundation This formula blends unbelievably well and you can build this to completely full coverage! ! I'm beyond impressed for this being drugstore. 5. The Ordinary - Colours Coverage Foundation with SPF 15 this is my everyday foundation and gives good enough coverage. I just have to mix two different shades to get my color as the range is quiet limited but for the price I pay, I don’t mind. Always stay away form words like “dewy”, “luminous”, “shiny” , “glowy” if you have oily skin. Let me know if you have any questions.
What it means to blowdry down the hair cuticle!
What it means to blowdry down the hair cuticle!
Let’s simplify what it means when a hairstylist says to blow dry down the hair cuticle: When you think of your hair, think of the shingles on a roof. They’re all laying down but on top of each other. The cuticle of our hair is doing the same! When we blow dry up or at the hair cuticle, it causes all those little shingles to stand up- causing frizz, loss of moisture, and hair damage. When we blow dry down the hair cuticle, all the shingles can lay flat against each other and be the protective barrier that they’re supposed to be. If you’re having trouble with extra frizz or loss of moisture pay attention to the direction that your blow drying. This could make all the difference!
Cleanse your skin like a pro
Cleanse your skin like a pro
Cleansing is the first step of any skin regime, and it's essential to your skin's health that it is done correctly. Cleansing the skin removes makeup, sunscreen, and impurities/pollution built up from the day. Always use a Ph balanced cleanser to avoid compromising your skin's barrier. I generally switch out my gel cleanser for milk or balm in the winter months as my skin becomes drier. I find milk or balms more hydrating and soothing for the skin. My go-to right now is BIOLOGIQUE RECHERCHE - Lait Vip O2 Oxygenating Milk Cleanser paired with either the mini glove Biologique Recherche or the Luna Cleaning tool FOREO - LUNA Mini 2 Facial Cleansing Brush Fuchsia to aid deeper cleaning and increase blood circulation while massaging the skin. Try not to skip cleansing at night no matter how sleepy you are, sleeping with your makeup on goes far beyond clogged pores. Sleeping with your makeup on in the long term will prematurely age your skin due to the breakdown of collagen from environmental pollutants left on the skin. Always cleanse your skin twice at night. Double cleansing is key in removing makeup and sunscreen effectively. Makeup and sunscreen are designed to stick to the skin, and one cleanse just not going to cut it. Use colder water, never hot water to cleanse your skin. Heat is not your skin's friend; it can cause tewl (transepidermal water loss), lead to irritation, dehydration and sensitivity. Avoid cleansing the skin in the shower, the water is generally too hot, and the shower's pressure can lead to burst vessels. Pat dry, do not aggressively rub your skin with a towel - I hear too many times people rub their skin aggressively with a dry face cloth to exfoliate the skin - stop it. Be gentle with your skin; there are better ways to exfoliate your skin - trust me. Which moves me on to P50 lotions BIOLOGIQUE RECHERCHE - LOTION P50 PIGM 400 Follow your cleansing routine with the correct P50 lotion for your skin type. P50 lotion is a gentle but effective way to exfoliate, hydrate the skin while maintaining the skin's Ph and respecting its barrier function. My go-to P50 right now is Pig400 which also targets hyperpigmentation concerns. More tips and tricks on cleansing the skin below https://www.kimberlydematos.com/post/the-art-of-cleansing Dm for p50 recommendations.
